strange, one my inmates has x7200 almost similar to mine, he has battery issues, i checked on his laptop and its not booting on battery, i tried to unplug the psu and the laptop can run in battery, but when the laptop is off, and the psu is unplugged in the wall and when we try to start the laptop on battery, its not booting up. please advise. also the laptop can show charging and 100 charged as indicated, i think the main problem is the battery cannot start it alone.
-
-
-
solved it, i had to push hold the power button about 2-3 seconds. it booted safely.
-
i also read some issues about the bottom part of x7200, one of the vents is blocked? i think that is a legit design from clevo but the reason is why did they block one of the vents?
-
yeah, i thought the same thing, just hold it a bit it finally turns on.
-
I´m tried to flash the Bios again but it doesnt work.
The Bios Files on a USB Stick (DOS), Laptop settings to default and restart.
type "step1" and it begin to write and verify but in a loop it doesnt stop.
After a while i musst push the Battery to stop this.
Whats the problem?
Have the Bios a write protection? -
but wait
both cpu & gpu fan directly get air outside and just blow the heatsink only
so i think that blooked vent let the fan under it take out the hot air inside the machine, the fresh air comes in from two forword vents and hdd cover -
resellers, any info on availability of 485M and / or 485M SLi? no more NDA right? i mean, its on the nvidia site already. details please?

Notebookcheck has even posted the review. They tested Clevo 150HM with SB i7 2920XM and GTX 485M.
Review Nvidia Geforce GTX 485M graphics card - Notebookcheck.net Reviews -
an inside information about mass production at the end of February with the GTX485M CLEVO X7200 graphics card supports up to I7 990X notebook's six-core processor desktop
485m 470m heatsink are the same
u can buy a barebone system diy yourself
or have to wait until clevo fully tested+debug+announce then the resellers then put it in customization
485m sli $1570
6970m cf $912

Why aren't they releasing the GTX 5xxm series?
-

-
they should sell out some 485 cookies first, nvidia can't just put down the cards, it will all come down to business as usual. the question is, who is bluffing? the red or the green?
-
since the gf110 gpu core socket the same as gf100
just install a gtx580 gf110 to 480m's board and mod the bios

SO they are skipping the 990x all together?! Is this a new stepping or the same stepping as the 980x? The 32nm Gulftowns are due for a new stepping I think
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
I don't think so that's just the way the reseller call the chip remember before when the 980x was called 990x by the guys on ebay but when intel release it was called 980x
i think this is the right name http://www.overclock.net/intel-build-logs/901784-case-options-my-990x.html#post11824830 -

485M is being released today for the 7280 for those interested in it.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I think those interested is ALOT of people
Not on your website yet though
And what is the point of listing both the S1 and original NP7280? Confuse customers? -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
The S1 has savings with the configuration that is stock versus if you configure the 7280 the same way. Up to $210 OFF. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
So the S1 is otherwise identical to the regular model? And both will get the same upgrade options?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
HA! I like that the upgrade to a 2nd 485m automatically includes the 2nd AC adapter. That actually helps the value of it out ALOT in my opinion
It also looks like it is a hell of an expensive card as expected -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Exactly the same but with upgraded components and some savings.
I agree on the 2nd AC Adapter, it is needed to unleash what the 7280 is capable of.
EDIT: Here is a benchmark of SLI 485'sAttached Files:

I just got back from CES today, nVidia is saying that the 485M will be the top GPU for notebooks "For a while...a 570M or a 580M is not on the radar screen at this time", anyway with a GPU score possible of 24+ K for SLI...we may be able to wait awhile...

Any news on an SB refresh of the X7200? -
If that's a stock score, that's amazing. -
a 995x just a 2 more multiplier............interesting in the max oc with stock or lower votage
now 980x batch 3031 3032 can easily do 200*21 4.2g uncore 4000 with all stock votage pass hyper 32m 16c
take out some of vram and modify its bios again then 570m out LOL -
for those who have x7200, the waiting game is on. upgrade now or later, and personally it is really tempting seeing how 485m performs, don't get too excited now, 580m should be soon. maybe months in speculation.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
So unless you can completely reflow the board.....your plan will just end up wasting ALOT of your money -
Weird. Suddenly the resell value of the 480m dropped quite a lot.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
should not be a surprise....it was essentially discontinued as soon as the 470m came out and now the GTX 485 m DESTROYS it in performance and value
-
and "a" gpu maybe $200USD
since my cards are hard to sell in taiwan...........not bad to have a dream -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
How are you going to go about obtaining the GPU then? Unless you are real good friends with a board manufacturer, I do not think nvidia sells the chips to end users
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
i know you kidding about replacing the core only so no comment on that
if you want better GPU's than 480 you should list them on ebay for cheap and get you a pair of 485 -
Hello everyone. I'm using a plain Clevo x7200, and have run into a couple of spots where I could use some assistance:
a) Can people post some temps of idle / load of their rigs? I've had the x7200 for about a month now - built with Arctic Silver5 TIM. I am seeing the following temps -
Idle:
CPUs - range from 49C - 55C across 6 cores
case/mobo - 47-48C
GPU - 47-48C
Load (Prime95 2+ hours)
CPUs - range from 76C - 84C across 6 cores
case/mobo - 69-71C
GPU - 42-43C
These numbers seem a bit high to me. Ambient room temp is around 20-22C with good ventilation under the laptop.
Note, I think the cooling system is working because if I stop Prime95, CPU temps drop to just above the "idle" temps in under 2 seconds. Case/mobo temps drop another seconds after that.
Mostly wondering what is the "norm" for the x7200.
b) Overclocking CPU? Using the i7-970, is there something I can use to overclocking the chip? Nothing is available in the BIOS. I didn't receive any s/w from Clevo. Besides, I'm too old school where OC'ing was done in the BIOS. What can be done for the x7200 CPU?
c) Overclocking the GPU? Haven't seen anything in any of the nVidia drivers which allow it. Again, too old school as my last OC'ing was done with nTune. Can nTune work on the x7200? What should be used?
TIA
Jeff
p.s. - Also, how do i get my laptop info from the profile info into the sig of a post? I don't see an option anywhere. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Those temps look acceptable to me. For overclocking there is XTU for the cpu but it is pretty unstable at the moment
For the GPUs you can use NST through the Nvidia Control Panel or flash the vbios using nvflash and nibitor -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
The Cpu is not running cool on this laptops if i overclock 4.0 ghz and run prime 95 the temps go up to 93c that's why i give up overclocking the CPU
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I would be happy to have a desktop cpu in my laptop period......lol
If I was in the market for a laptop now instead of a year and a half ago.....I would definitely be getting an X7200! -
I don't know what the threshold is of an i7-970, but if I start overclocking, I don't think there is much room to move as the temps are already high.
Downloading nVidia System Tools as we speak. Thanks. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
no problem
You can use that to push as far as your gpus will go under stock voltage -
Hi all,
Just got my x7200 yesterday. See signature for configuration.
I was very surprised to see that my system was equiped with an LG screen (LP173WF1-TLC1) instead of the Hannstar (HSD173PUW1) that I read about in all the reviews.
All the reviews that I read previous to purchase were VERY positive about the Hannstar screen. However, I never saw a review with the LG screen. Therefore I am very interested in the following:
- objective quality and performance comparison of the LG screen and the originally used Hannstar screen
- is this a screen suitable for a high-end system like the x7200 ?
- reviews of the LG screen LP173WF1-TLC1
- other users with the LG screen and their experiences with it
- is it normal practice that suddenly another screen model is used ?
In the meantime I know that several other European customers got this screen (all orders after early December) and it seems that the Hannstar is not returning in the x7200...
My first impression after first starting the system up yesterday night was: very bright and clear screen, but a solid black screen seems not really black but more grey-ish and also quite dependent on the (vertical) viewing angle. Very different from my current clevo m57ru and also compared to my HP Probook work-notebook...
I am really hoping for your info, experiences and advice in this unexpected issue -
The Hannstar screen has rich blacks, but backlight is horrible (as in you can see the light when the screen is dark).
-
Speedy, are you going to grab a pair of 485M's?
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
Nahh i can't live with the idea of having to plug 2 of those PSU's just to run 485's is good for overclocking but my machine do more than that is my primary gaming machine
you have to see the size of this PSU's if you stock two together it will be bigger than a 1200w desktop PSU lol -
Yeah stick with the 470s and the single PSU
..
That thing is a monster with 470s+980x+B+RG screen and the added bonus of only a single PSU..
Its not going to get much better then that for quite sometime i would say...
It looks like Clevo dumped the 470s after only a month or so based on Babyhemis website offerings ?...
With Clevo knowing they were going back to major power sucking cards i would think they could have designed a single PSU just for that purpose...
Looking at the new 15inch and 17inch offerings coming they seem to be getting 3 different PSUs (based on specs) so why not they X7200 ?.. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
yep looks like the 470's becomes a rare item since they not offered no more
Clevo should make a single PSU for the 485's SLI like you say but i guess they refreshing the machine with Sandy Bridge and in that case is not going to be necessary -
Yeah since SB draws less power they might not need the SLi power converter after that. I'm glad you got a B+RG screen working, once Clevo releases a backlit refresh I'll be all over that. I think they're supposed to eventually release a 120 hz display too. -
It would be great if it would be enough only one power adapter for Xeon hexacore and 1x485m.
