All good, valid points. And yet I am very happy with my PC, and I have to remind myself to be content with what I have and appreciate my good fortune.
Yes but...I don't think I live in such a fast-paced world where every millisecond counts. Maybe it would be better to have a little patience and be a little more sensible.

the frige store is over-doing it.
Just keep the battery at a cool place without direct sun-light will be fine. -

I live in a place that has the same humidity as the sahara desert and there's plenty of baking soda in the fridge. There's no condensation going on, even after it comes out. -

Has anybody looked into the optional TV Tuner and Sim card slot for this notebook? The rubber stopper on th side intrigues me. I know Sager doesn't sell any models with it but could we add one in ourselves separately or is that neccessarily something that comes with a videocard restriction?
-
i have the same question as u!!if u pull out the rubber stopper its empty.can we use it for tv tuner?
-
Electric Shock Notebook Evangelist
If you could have gotten the TV tuner version, it links up with the IR port on the front of the laptop as you get a remote and an antenna.
The manual says Model C can be equipped with optional TV tuner. We are also missing the sim card reader inside the battery compartment. -
-
but whatever makes you happy -
Mine arrived today!
Some impressions:
Better build than my previous NP5135.
Matte LCD image quality is very good. After some calibration even better.
Here's my calibrated gamma value in NVIDIA control panel:
R: 0.97
G: 0.84
B: 0.73
The fan noise is actually lower than NP5135 since the vent is facing backward. -
Well, I'm fairly happy with this thing four days in. I've already started to wear in the trackpad... excessive use or early wear? I'm fine with the trackpad wearing in (makes it nicer to use after all) as long as it doesn't turn ugly like most worn trackpads do. So far, it's looking alright. I'd hate to see the worn-in trackpad of an 8150 though.
Also, I've noticed (like one would expect) that Linux is much nicer in regards to system temperature and overall fan usage. In Windows, I'm lucky if I have 1 minute without the GPU fan turning on for long periods. In Linux, the fan doesn't come on very often at all. This is with comparable desktop effects, too. It's no secret that Linux is the most efficient Intel platform, but it's not the CPU, it's the GPU I'm talking about. And no, it's not that it's waiting longer before turning the fans on (it may but that's not what I'm talking about) but that it idles at 40 degrees without the fans on, whereas on Windows, it idles at 40 with fans on (not counting the odd 5 seconds it turns them off). Just an observation.
I also do not cease to be amazed every time I look at that screen, it makes everything else I've ever used look like crap. That's not saying a whole bunch, but for a laptop screen, I've never expected anything great like this. It really does make the system that much nicer to use, and to me, is a huge factor in how much the laptop feels like it's worth. Having seen a decent laptop screen now, I just have to wonder why anyone would settle for anything less in a notebook that costs more than say $700. The obvious answer is availability, but I counter that with Clevo! -

BTW, did you have any troubles getting drivers for Linux or did everything work easily? I'm going to install Ubuntu. -
So my Sager is coming in tomorrow and I'm looking at the route UPS is taking via Android Parcels app and... wow, what are they doing? They're zig zagging everywhere with it; it's like they're trying very hard to meet the latest deadline they can to deliver it. The horror!

Is that available for iPhone as well?
Mr. Mysterious -
guys any benefits going from 1333 ram to 1600?
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
No discernable benefit. You won't be able to tell the difference from one computer with 1333 Mhz and another with 1600 Mhz, all other components held constant.
Mr. Mysterious -
hey Mr. Mysterious, I saw your review but I didnt see anything about the intel 6239 wireless card. Care to share your thoughts here? What are its benefits over the stock one?
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
I wouldn't know any benefits over the stock one, seeing how I've never used it....no issues with the wireless, as far as I'm concerned. It has good speeds and very good range.
I can't really tell or do any testing since my university wireless sucks, though my wireless at home is pretty solid. For the 2 hours I spent online at home, the speeds were very encouraging.
Mr. Mysterious -
I'll be getting my np8130 (with a stock card) in about two days. What I'm wondering is if I should buy a 6230 and install it myself, and if I do that, will I see a significant increase in download speed or something?
-
Still at phase 2 ......taking way too long !
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
I don't know....that is something you will either have to ask the resellers or ask people who have used both wireless cards.
This should help: Networking and Wireless
Mr. Mysterious -
I just hit phase four today, so with two-day shipping, I should have it by the 14th. It took a month to complete the order, not bad with the SB delay, waiting for the payment to clear, and then extra time for the screen replacement.
Also, I would like to thank Brett over at Xotic PC for answering all my questions and varies requests. -
well u ordered urs with alot of adjustments, plus there is the recall, i just hope ill get mine soon enough, getting tired of typing on a broken screen lol
-
I love my laptop!!!
I went from a Dell Inspiron 6000 to this! Wow, what a huge difference. -

Great! I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's a fine piece of equipment...
Mr. Mysterious -
Just wondering, does anyone else have stuck/dead pixels on their screens?
-

No dead or stuck pixels here. I'm loving my 8130, been kicking some major in CoD Black Ops.
I do have a loud bluray drive which I need to call in about but it's only load if I'm installing something. -
I had no troubles with the proprietary NVIDIA drivers on Ubuntu, just opened up Jockey ("Restricted Drivers" thing) and installed those (not the "nouveau" experimental open source 3D drivers).
No bad pixels here, thank goodness. -
@Batman
I did try one of those pixel thingies, xotic linked me to another one I haven't used yet. Unfortunately I am pretty sure mine is dead rather than stuck. Its black although glows red on a white background. -
It seems to me as if sager/clevo needs to take a closer look at their QA. One weird thing I notice about my computer that nobody has mentioned yet: if I lightly touch the space bar without actually pressing it down it makes this crazy weird squealing sound. Could it be electrical arcing?
-
I have had such spectacular luck with electronics, that when I get something off kilter, I rarely question it anymore. Had to return my first LCD tv because of an auto dim issue. My first LCD monitor had dead pixels, I did an exchange on that. I may have switched out my first dell laptop because of an lcd issue. My second laptop an hp had a broken key on the keyboard. My third laptop a lenovo had a motherboard fried. Lenovo support is awesome too btw with no questions asked took the lappie and repaired it, but broke the vga switch for the switchable graphics so I had to resend it in.
All things considered I am pretty happy with how well this 8130 runs. =p -
WOW i finally recieved mine
I ordered 3/15/11---> 4/12/11 from xotic almost a month -_- of waiting.
At least theres nonthing wrong with my new laptop all pixels are perfect, no
clicking sounds and i cant notice my fans. If i it press hard on the right
corner i can see it bend but its nothing extreme, its more like im pressing on
the optical drive like the little gap where the drive closes.
I upgraded the to the newest intel wireless card and the ic diamond
compound, so perhaps sager made sure the laptop was in perfect condition
before shipping it.
On a side note i live on a aparment complex and my wireless card can
detect a massive amount of wifi networks (my desktop wireless can detect
like a third of the toal).
Im a satisfied customer in the end -
What are they doing at UPS?
-
-
Great overclock! I haven't bothered myself since it handles everything I play on ultra with high FPS so I didn't feel the need
I've been glued to Civ V ...looks very beautiful on matte
Rift and BF:BC2 is also handling ultra -
-
Ordered mine from LPC on 4/10/11, they said it takes 5-8 business days to ship... I wonder when that might be... From what I see here, it takes way longer than 5-8 business days....
-

Man, you guys with the upgraded Intel wireless are making me doubt my decision to go with the stock realtek unit.
Is this a easy swap in the future? -
If you don't want to wait forever, PC Torque is getting their orders out fast. I paid something like the 25th via eCheck and payment cleared the 4th, and my notebook shipped the 4th.
