The Witcher 2 recommended low-medium settings on the 560m. I upped them to somewhere between medium and high and it's been running smoothly. I'm thinking of trying high settings next time I open the game.

And yes, the brightness isn't adjustable with the modified inf. It sticks at whatever it was when you installed the driver I believe.
I haven't personally done it because I'm just fine with the brightness mine is at, but if you really wanted to change it, in theory, you ought to be able to just uninstall the driver, set your brightness to whatever you want it to be at and then reinstall it. -
Yes theres a very big difference between it and the one on LV2G. -

Ok, this may sound crazy, but if my NP8170 sells, I'm going with the NP8130. What should I know good/bad or indifferent without reading through 286 pages of posts?
I originally planned on my NP8170 as my primary PC and gaming, but that's changed. I will use my laptop for normal web and desktop tasks, and occasional gaming, primarily with a LAN get together a half dozen times a year.
Coming from a GTX 485m I know it will be painful a bit, but since it's not for every day gaming I think I can survive. What bugged me most about the NP8170 was the screen. And I figure if I can pocket $600-$700 after selling my NP8170 and buying an NP8130 that comes with a much better screen (stock config for the most part), the GTX 560m should do me well. Hoping for decent performance with Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2, and Starcraft 2, and a few games between now and end of year.
Thanks a billion and three. -
That said since you're biggest irk with the 8170 was the screen I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the 8130 if matte is your goal. -
Matte is great. I would opt-in for an ssd unless you know of a good place that has them cheaper. The 560M will be able to run those games no problem. I can run Bad Company 2 on full settings with no problem. -
GTX 560M owners give this modded inf a try with the 275.50 Verde Beta: INF_275.50.zip
Shouldn't have the issues people are getting with the one from LV2G. -
I didn't realize that the 275.50 was out.
So, I can't attest to how well the modded inf provided at laptop2go performs, but the one provided by Atmosk works great. Able to adjust the brightness and everything
Thank you very much good sir. +rep 4 u -

For those of you who have 6970m, be careful with the latest bios version. Version 1.01.11/1.00.07 may support 560m but doesn't work well with 6970m, it was responsible for my 3dmark06/05 low scores (games were affected too). I have reflashed 1.01.06/1.00.4 and scored 19500 again (instead of 16500).
-
FWIW I have tried to detect any similar hitch in the fans under normal use (even under load when they have ramped up quite a bit) and found none that I can feel or hear.
Having a look at available BIOS/EC updates was suggested, but I'm not in a rush to upgrade the BIOS without it being a real problem and/or some other clear benefit noted for one of the newer versions. -

HTWingNut said: ↑Thanks. The ironic thing is they are charging +$95 now for the 95% matte screen, but same price for regular matte or 95% glossy. So I will probably go with 95% glossy. It wasn't really the glossy that bothered me, although I do prefer matte, it was more the viewing angles and they seem to be so much better with those 95% screens.Click to expand...
I don't even know why companies entertain glossy. I've never seen anyone suggest they prefer glossy. Who needs a mirror for a screen?
Still, with this particular deal, I have to agree with your logic. -

The 8130 is fantastic if you overclock the GPU. The portability is great but quite frankly if the matte screen was not the default option at the time I bought it, I would have bought the 8150 and paid extra for the matte screen. -

Price difference between the 8130 and 8150 configured same is about $100 more for the 8150. I'd rather put that $100 towards a better screen. And I just don't like the rubberized finish to be honest. I don't use the touchpad much as it is because I hate touchpads, and having the annoying rubber tacky surface would be even worse for when I do use it. With my history I also realized as much as I'd like to keep my laptop for years (upgradability) I never do. Longest I kept a laptop was two years, usually swap one out in 18 months.
It may be a week or two before I order anyhow so guess will see what's available at that time. -

Not hard to do, just go easy and start by upping clocks 10MHz at a time. Do GPU, Shader, and memory individually and find their "breaking" point. Then run them all together and see how it does.
Just remember Shader clock needs to be at least 2x GPU clock otherwise it WILL crash. -

Ok, on the Mini PCI-E second slot issues, I tried two WiFi adapters I had laying around, one Atheros 802.11b/g/n and a Broadcom 802.11b/g.
The Atheros card was not detected at all, the Broadcom card made the laptop shut off immediately after powering on.
I don't really have any plans on using the second slot for anything in the near future but I thought I'd give that a try to see if I could produce some helpful info for those trying to use that slot.
Looks like theres something odd going on there.Click to expand...
Actually I spoke with Xotic again
Basically what I was saying is that this computer was not supposed to come with the second pci slot at least according to Sager’s original specs. Normally you would run a separate card for Bluetooth and a separate card for wifi. Because cards like the 6230 and the basic realtek card came out Sager was able to eliminate the extra space on the motherboard that would normally be used for additional expansion.
I am still waiting to hear back from Sager on if the original spec changed and that slot is supposed to be working or not.(or even there) As I mentioned before I know some people have gotten the slot on their computer and some haven’t. I will let you know when I hear back from Sager about your problem.
Thanks,

Actually that other slot works just fine and they are supposed to come with them. Its wired a little differently than the wlan slot, it will explicitly NOT take another wifi card as there are certain pins wired directly to the embedded controller for wifi (Turn on and off and the led), and there is now an extra pin wired into the wlan port (slot #1) specifically for bluetooth detect).
Otherwise there is mPCIE, 3.3V and USB on that extra port. So any mPCIE device that is NOT a wlan device will work just fine, 3G card, mPCIE tv tuner, mPCIE usb 3.0 controller etc etc.
If you want that page out of the spec doc that has the pinouts then please PM me and i'll be glad to send you the side by side comparison of the pinouts.
So yes they are supposed to come that way, the old bluetooth cards from last gen were actually hooked up via a 4-pin USB cable NOT mPCIE. -

Still though, maybe mine is just broken, that's always a possibility -
Just canceled my order for the NP5175. I ordered it on June 3rd, and it's June 22nd today, so it has been 13 business days, and still no delivery. Xotic has been once again, great with customer service, but Sager on the other hand, I'm pretty disappointed in.
My friend ordered an 8130 a week ago, and it came in 3 days. Shouldn't it be first come first serve? Seriously Sager?
But on topic, after seeing my friend's 8130 and glowering with envy, I decided to cancel my 5175 order and go for the 8130 after I get some more cash.
Anyway, I have one question - how's the DPI on the screen? Is text readable in Windows 7 with 100% DPI scaling? I don't want it to scale at all because I think Windows looks really ugly when the font is adjusted.
Thanks in advance everyone. -

You said your friend had the P151HM1 (8130)- you may want to see if he'll let you play with it for a bit. Hands on is the easiest way to see if you like it
As for build/ship time- different models can be shipped at different speeds. It depends entirely on parts and availability. This is true with pretty much any product though, not just laptops. -

Dear Forumers, need some precious help from you all.
Recently I bought a Clevo Horize P151HM1B.
After Installing the OS, Drivers, Programs( Microsoft Office, Flash, etc) I keep getting constant BSOD.
What may be the reason behind this? I believe it would be a software issue. But I installed too many software, how can I Troubleshoot which one might be the problem? -
What does the BSOD say?
