Should be joining the club in the morning or afternoon.. tracking says it's been in UPS warehouse in Toronto all day today lol. Pretty much base specs, just upgraded the screen to 95% gamut matte and 0 dead pixel insurance + extended warranty  And ordered from xotic, great customer support/response times from what seen and experience myself so far.

Is anyone having as much trouble with the touchpad as I am?

I can go into more detail, but basically I'm running it barebones as far as the synaptics options goes, yet no matter what it's an unresponsive piece of crap. Sometimes it seems to get stuck on "scroll wheel" but even in disabling scrolling, it's still unresponsive. Whoever's bright idea it was to extend the matte finish over the pad should be shot -- or as such i chalk the problem up as being.....

I had trouble with the touchpad but not to the point where someone should be shot... :) I've given up on the touchpad unless I absolutely need to use it thus the reason why I'm currently using a wireless mouse. I do wish it was more smoother to navigate with and more easy on the fingers.

I've just been notified that it has already shipped, and UPS estimates that it will arrive on the 19th. Looking forward to that.

Does anyone know how to get better performance out of physx? I am playing mafia 2 at 1080p all high physx off and i get 65 fps avg. With physx set to high i get 10. I really like all the debris that goes flying and would love to know if there is some trick to get that fps a litle higher. Maybe to the 30 range. Thanks.

Just sent mine in for an RMA today. :(

Received it on 6/17 and started having problems about a week or two later. After starting up in the morning everything would be really slow & unresponsive for 15+ minutes before it would start running properly. Reinstalled windows, which helped for a bit but after a while the problems came back and started getting worse (longer & longer start/shutdown times, programs/features failing to load properly on startup). Eventually I couldn't get windows to start at all (kept launching automatic startup repair and failing to fix any problems) so I tried reformatting again but then it wasn't able to format a partition.

The card is simply not powerful enough to handle PhysX on high. Try medium PhysX.

    Hello guys!
    I have 3 questions:
1st. I remember someone replaced his screen with a matte one can you give me some info on that? (what is the screen model that we have, how to replace monitor info, maybe direct me to some sites?)
2nd. The power adapter is TOO heavy man. I have come to carry this from home to work every day and I wish I had a lighter/smaller one. I also need to buy one more anyway since I will leave one at work so I won't have to plug-unplug it every damn day.
3rd. I was trying to find a place to buy the new GTX 560m but didn't find anything. Any hints?

Oh thanks for answering my other questings before :)

I did. I think everything is just the basic configurations but I did have win7 installed and a hdd caddy added so I can swap out the disk drive when I know I won't need it. It sucks that I'll probably be at work when it comes. I won't have any chance to sit in wait for the ups guy. My dad just got his new laprop and keeps giving me a hard time about not having mine yet. Well see who's laughing when we put crysis 2 on each machine. :D

It's hard to tell from those symptoms, but to me a failing hard drive or faulty memory sound the most plausible. I've had failing hard drives in other machines that had similar issues.

Yeah, Xotic suggested maybe trying a replacement hard drive from Sager, or do an RMA. I decided to send it in just to be safe.

On the bright side, at least I have two more "A Song of Ice and Fire" books (including the new one) to pass the time.

No sound card option, it is what it is, wireless card can be changed easily though.

About 3 hours, wouldn't expect any more. And this machine doesn't support Optimus.

The wireless card is simple, if a bit tough to get to. (Still a simple pull and swap though). The sound card doesn't really exist- it's integrated into the motherboard. You could always add an external USB card though if you wanted to.

After several weeks researching a new notebok and lurking on this forum, I finally placed an order for a NP8130 today.
I went with the 95% NTSC screen and Centrino 6320 wifi, but otherwise is default config. I ordered through Powernotebooks since I am in Northern California and they are located about 80 miles away from me (not sure if that really makes a difference).
Are they drop shipped from Sager? or does each distributor build and then ship the notebooks?

Powernotebooks saw my post and just called me with the answer directly.

Wow, that is customer service! I've never had that happen before!
Powernotebooks said my order would ship from their location in Nevada.

    Hey all,

I'm also considering pulling the trigger on the 8130. I haven't had much time for gaming as I'm currently working on my grad engineering degree but I am looking for a solid affordable machine with a strong cpu, good cooling and will let me easily dual-boot linux and windows. I have been reading the forums and have really been impressed by the amount of support that the vendors have provided. I also have some previous experience with sager notebooks and know they are solid machines.

There is a lot that I like about this notebook but do you guys think this machine will be a waste if I'm not a hard core gamer?

    Thanks

I dont think it would be a waste. if your a ME guy and do CAD Im gonna bet the GTX560 will make a huge difference.

Hey guys, another question. Any reason the newest 275.xx nvidia drivers are saying i dont have any supported hardware?

You can get it from your reseller.

    You need a modded INF

@Sovereign6: nothing of the sort here. im amazed at the sound quality vs my desktop onboard sound.

thanks mechanic for the INF linky. i wasnt sure what file and how to do it.

thanks malibal #2. BTW; what BIOS version is usually on the machines when they leave? I just got mine and dont remember what version it was off hand.

Guys, I've got a never ending issue with BSOD.

My laptop is somewhat "fragile" it BSOD everytime I install software that it doesn't like.

It BSOD's when I install QVOD, or even my Printer Driver.

What is wrong with it? Being so sensitive. I have to remove all those installed softare to make it non-BSOD.

But now I can't remove the Printer Software, so the BSOD is never ending :(

Do you mean recognized by Windows, or by the drivers? Windows doesn't recognize most of the hardware in these laptops out of the box because, well, it didn't exist when they released Windows. Which means they couldn't include drivers. Nvidia doesn't support the 560m in Sagers in the Beta releases because they require a different Vendor support line in the drivers, and for some reason they don't usually add it until the drivers are WHQL released. (To be fair, until the past few years- Nvidia never actually even released reference drivers for mobile. You had to go through your notebook manufacturer for any updates)

We usually ship with the most current Bios. So if you just got your machine, you probably already have it.

Are the BSoD's possibly related to that software? There is software out there (like "WhoCrashed") that will tell you exactly what's causing the problem.

The inf stuff worked like a charm expect parts of 275.33 failed but xxx.50 works perfectly.

@mailbal: the final drivers from nvidia don't work either without the inf mod. I meant isthere a resin the sager 560m isn't recognized by nvidia. Windows picked it up in a heartbeat and I had aero the entire time.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an np8130 and I'm just wondering if getting the 95% color gamut screen is worth it, because if it's not really that much of a difference I'd definitely get a better hard drive. For me, screen is more important, because I'm a stickler when it comes to image quality (and having a slightly smaller/slower hard drive doesn't annoy me that much) so it depends on how much of a difference the color gamut will make.

Hi, the stock screen on this model is very nice, so I don't think you can go wrong with either one. If you want visual comparisons - you can check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-between-different-screen-options-photos.html The V.1 is the stock screen on the P151HM1 (8130) and the V.4 is the 95% upgraded screen. :)

Having never had a high-gamut screen before this one, I have to say the investment was well worth it. When properly calibrated (which Mythlogic includes in the price of all its systems), colors are rich and vibrant. While I do very little photo work, games look terrific.

Look at it this way - you can easily upgrade the hard drive yourself down the road. While technically possible on these machines, the process to change the screen is much more involved. Buy the best screen you can right out of the gate.

It may take a while. It's sometimes a few weeks after release before they upload a compatible driver. The newest WHQL driver with support may be the one on the disk your machine shipped with.

Just give it a while for Nvidia to catch up. I know the 485m in my machine is never supported at the time they release the new drivers (or even on a clean Windows install, until I download them). Using the modified INF is the only guaranteed way to add in the line supporting Clevo machines until Nvidia adds that themselves.

It's really frustrating because I actually prefer the touchpad in non-gaming situations. If I knew it was going to be this problematic I may have chosen a different system :-/

It fails me more often than it works. I guess this is one of those things Sager skimped out on to give us the better bang for our buck. I can't imagine the difficulties those who bought the 8150 are having with their pads....

    Hi,

What is your 3dmark06 score, mine is 13700 I think it is very low. Even my g73 did better with i7 720qm ...

PS : I have still trouble with the ahci mode and my vertex which do 7.2 hdd windows score instead of 7.8 ...

    All drivers are updated!!!

    My vertex firmware is 1.33.

It works "very well" in ide (but the windows hdd score is lower than it used to; 7.2 vs 7.8).

However in Ahci when I start the laptop the bios doesn't detect it i have to restart the computer then the ssd is detected by the bios.

I ran 3dmark11 I got P2200. This score matchs the average of np8130 unlike my 3dmark06 score, that's Weird.

Do you think the DirectX 11 of W7 is involved in this case?

3DMark 06 is really no longer relevant with today's CPUs and GPUs. I would pay more attention to 3DMark 11 and Vantage.

Vantage seems to be the most realistic when comparing systems as it really final score isn't affected by the CPU performance much at all.

I have spotted something else with my np8130.

When my screen becomes dark, while I play a movie or I launch a game for example, a part of the screen stays red for 1 or 2 seconds like latency. That happens at the boot too with sager logo.

My screen is a 95% matte.
