- Sleep - You may want to try reinstalling your Intel chipset drivers.
- Audio - Use the Realtek sound manager to change what the jacks do (You have to specifically turn on 5.1 or 7.1 sound, otherwise most of those jacks are input, not output). By default only the headphones do output. Did you turn up the volume all the way in Realtek and still have low volume?

Wow thanks for all the Info. I heard installing new parts doesn't Void your warranty either so i could install a new SSD and still have my warranty?
Also Ivy Bridge, is that a new processor coming out in spring? -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Nope, installing new parts won't void the warranty (except for replacing the motherboard). Obviously the warranty won't cover the new part, because that's warrantied through the part manufacturer.
Ivy Bridge is supposed to be released by Intel in the first half of 2012. When it makes it to notebooks though is anyone's guess

Someone had posted the service manual for this notebook, but the link was dead. I did manage to track a copy down, though, so here it is in case people want it. It's useful for folks who plan to upgrade the hard drive, replace the optical drive with a HDD caddy, change RAM, and so forth. This document applies to both the Sager NP8130 (P151HM1) and NP8150 (P150HM).

You won't be able to upgrade the current 8130 to the new Ivy Bridge processors. They will require a different motherboard/chipset.
Almost nothing voids you warranty on a Sager. You could replace the screen, CPU, GPU, ram, SSD, optical drive, wireless NIC, etc. and still not void your warranty as long as you send it back in the original configuration in case of problems. -
Got it today, beautiful blah blah. There's a damn little strip of the protective plastic stuck in the very top of the screen, right below the webcam. maybe inch and a half, its like stuck between the screen and the casing. I can't find a way to tear it off, get rid of it. Driving me absolutely insane. I don't see a way to get rid of it without taking it apart, which I have no idea how to do. Already tried to pull it off with tip of finger, can't do it. Tweezers no dice.
-
Exact same thing happened to me! I'm just sort of hoping it eventually falls off...
-
At least it's harder to notice when it's on...
I actually broke a razor blade in half, (thinnest thing I have) and tried to get it out that way, no dice. -
I noticed that the chipset and processor supports Intel Widi, according to intel specs (HM65: Intel HM65 Express Chipset - Overview and i7-2630QM: Intel® Core? i7-2630QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.00 GHz)).
Assuming the optional Intel Centrino 6200 series wifi card were installed in the system, would the NP8130 support Intel Wireless Display? -
How do I get wifi working? I installed all the drivers on the disc, but I don't see any option to connect to networks. All it says is to plug in ethernet. Can't even find a place to search for networks.
NM...too flustered over tiny piece of paper to realize I missed the "Option driver" part. -
Anyone know the exact trackpad size? Trying to purchase a trackpad cover.

Hi guys,
I was just curious to know if the sager NP8130 would be compatible with the Ivy Bridge processors. -
The NP8130 won't be compatible with ivy bridge. -
Got mine last week; loving it so far, the screen is incredible. I'm just wondering, or maybe I'm missing something. Why would anybody put the sleep button right beside the volume down button? I've put my pc to sleep a few times by mistake...
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
I assume you mean the sleep hotkey, not the hardware power button right? I think you can disable that via bios or software, but either way, it takes a while to get the muscle memory in to avoid hitting it by accident. It was a strange placement though. -

We've had threads on this before. Peel off the rubber feet on the top corners of the screen and there will be two screws you can remove so you can pry the top open to remove the bits of plastic. It's been done successfully by another member with that problem. -
Electric Shock Notebook Evangelist
Is your WiFi even on? Look for the light in the middle on the bank of 3 lights on the right side beside the right speaker. If not, press Fn + F11 to turn on WiFi. -
The problem was I didn't check the Optional drivers on the driver CD.
-
Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that when I get my laptop back.
-
Is there a way to get rid of the "Succeeded" pop up when you use the finger print scanner? Very annoying, ugly and obtrusive. Would be slick if it just logged in like normal.
Also whats the max your GPU should be under load? 80? -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
Mobile GPUs are quite heat tolerant. They can do 100 without significant risk of failure. 80-85 is perfectly fine. -
Great thanks. Idles at around 35-40 and under 3d mark6/11 it gets up to about 75 when OCd with afterburner. I figure it will get a bit hotter if gaming for extended periods, so thats good room to work with.

Hey, I just got an email from Malibal for verification for the phone number and cc. Is this a legit email? Just asking incase
I'm at work, so later i'll have time.
-
Hi, yes we send those emails out to every customer who pays with a credit/debit card.
-
Haha alright, thanks! Was just making sure!
-
Electric Shock Notebook Evangelist
Yeah, just undo the screws that are behind the rubber feet and the screen should be able to open enough so you can pull the pieces of plastic out. -
Can I put the rubber feet back on or will this ruin them?
-
Electric Shock Notebook Evangelist
If you get them out without breaking the adhesive tape, it should be fine. If it does, just buy some new two sided tape from wal mart or something and cut two squares. -
Hello guys.
One question:
What is the sceen model that our laptop has
(also secondary question is:do u know where can I get instructions for replacing the sceen?) -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
To find your screen manufacturer and model, download HWiNFO32 Download and run it. It will give you that detail, and lots of others
-
Are we referring to the same pieces? I just took off, and unscrewed the 2 rubber squares in the top corners of the screen casing. Wasn't able to comfortable "pry" the top of the casing open. Were you referring to the two small, horizontal pieces closer to the center? Or do I need to take off the two bottom squares as well?
-
Dang, that was pretty fast! Mine already shipped yesterday
The estimated shipping date was on the 26th.
Btw, anyone recommend a notebook cooler for the P151HM1? want to pick on up so it comes around when the laptop comes -
Hey everyone i just had a another question about NP8130 and battery life. in the sticky thread it said the best situation to hope for was 3.5-4hrs. Will I be able to get this time casually browsing the web? Also i am probably going to get SSD and I heard they could help battery life too? One last thing I'm debating between the the NP8130 and NP8150, would it be worth getting the 8150 just for the 485m? Is there a big performance different and would i get worst battery life with the 485m? Thanks again for the help!

More like 3 hours and see here:

Search the thread and don't see anything about coolers, but if I got a good cooler would it reduce the fan noise? It's really quite loud. Not used to this kind of noise.

A friend of mine sticked these overall to the heatsinks: Copper DDR SD Ram Cooler Heat Sink heatsink For Ram VGA | eBay
He reduced the temperature. I have also ordered them

I played minecraft for 4 hours straight on battery with half brightness. I was surprised..... Didn't think it would last longer then 2.

Whoa, really? Wow! Sounds like more than what others are claiming.
This user got barely 3 hours just web browsing and chatting:

I have one of these en route. Not sure how good it will be, but it I figured it was worth a try. -
Something just started happening with my laptop and was wondering if there is something I am missing or should do. It seems my wireless network and graphics drivers have been causing troubles?
1. With my wireless, the light is on but I get the empty notification bar with the red slash and wont find any networks. This seems to happen each time I reboot.
2. And then last night when I was playing a game, the graphics were horrible.
In both cases, I uninstalled the drivers and then let the automatic drivers get installed through windows. I had the latest Nvidia 275.50 installed. (Not sure how to check to see if that is what was reinstalled) But the game worked after doing the re-installation.
Any ideas? Thank you! -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
1) What happens when you press FN+F11? Does your wifi come on then? You may need to check the bios at boot to be sure that your wifi is enabled at boot. (Bluetooth is disabled at boot by default for sure).
2) Can you elaborate on horrible? Did you change the resolution and graphics settings in the game? Most games default to lowest settings/resolution on mobile GPU's -
Thanks for the quick reply. I booted into the bios admin and it just has bluetooth listed as something that would turn off...nothing about wireless. But when booting up this time, my wireless was still there. So much for being able to duplicated that. f11 key works now, but it didn't before when toggling.
With the graphics issue, it was as if it wasn't running any drivers. I started Witcher and the intro graphics were slow, the colors were low (gradients were rings instead of smooth) and the sound staggered. I could hardly use my mouse to quit the game by the time it finally started up. I used the Nvidia system info now and it is showing my i have 268.05 driver version now when I installed 275.50. -
Hi, I'm a very happy owner of a new P151HM1B.
One issue I have: Like many others, I am also finding the headphone out to be rather weak. I wasn't expecting audiophile quality, but to my ears, they honestly sound worse than the headphone out on other cheap business laptops I have used. :/
What have you all who are of similar opinion been doing to get around this? For my uses, I have no plans to use the built-in speakers (I vastly prefer headphones as I'm frequently in shared living spaces).
Is it worth installing the THX drivers (I assumed they were for the built-in speakers and did not bother to install them)? Buying an external sound card (I'd like to not spend any more than I have to)?
Thanks in advance! -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
It sounds like you have a driver mismatch if you did install the new set. Uninstall them and run driversweeper to clear away all the old drivers, then try a fresh install. You shouldn't have mismatched versions like that, because it indicates that only part of the driver pack was successfully installed. Also, be sure that you're running in high performance mode and plugged in to an AC outlet.
I'd also recommend running a benchmark like 3Dmark to make sure your machine is performing as it should (if the marks are unusually low, you may have a faulty GPU or corrupt/fault drivers)
Register and enable the THX software before you do anything else. It will have an effect on the speakers AND the output jacks. (You may also want to try changing the headphone jack to "external speaker" mode within THX to see if that helps) -
I'd like to thank Malibal for the prompt reply for helping out with someone who did not buy from you (in fact, I'm on the other side of the world)
Installing THX made an immediate and discernible difference. The sound is much improved. Thanks! -
Typing this from my new machine! Very impressed with it thus far!
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Glad to hear it fixed the problem! That's what we're here for
You should also notice (if you use it) that your subwoofer will now be active with THX. You can also do 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound output if you ever need it using all the audio jacks. -
Quick question, it seems DriverSweeper isn't available anymore (as indicated by Guru3D's download page).
I used to run that program in safe mode after uninstalling an old graphics card driver, but prior to installing a new one.
Is it okay to just to bypass that step? Or does anyone know of a good alternative to DriverSweeper? Thanks! -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Driver sweeper still exists (and is still updated)- it was just yanked from the Guru3D site and put up on the original creator's site. I wouldn't skip it because those drivers create a lot of extra cruft that should be cleaned up for a fresh install.
