How the hell did you manage to do that? I've tried for the past 5 days to be able to do this and for some reason they just won't let me. Really really starting to me off when I see they let other people do it but then won't for me.

If you can wait, MALIBAL said the option for larger PSUs in the P151HM1 would be added to their website soon. -
-
-
What I'm guessing is that the first few people who asked for it got it, then they decided to make it policy to refuse to do it until it's an "official" build of theirs. -
-
That would be nice

Btw. I just upgraded my 460m to a 6990m in my 8130. Everything seems peachy. For whatever reason, the benchmark software is messing up (wont go to results website from 3d vantage), but that has nothing to do with the card.
Card works well. Furmark after six minutes hit about 92c. 3d Vantage peaked around 81c. IC7 + laptop cooler. Temps seem fine.
Very easy to install. I had never even opened a laptop before. I figured I messed up the IC7 with a not exactly "pea shapped" glob, but it seems to be working. If anyone is considering the upgrade, do not let the install intimidate you. Took about 30 minutes all in. I had some cleaning supplies from Artic Silver that were useful because the heatsink comes with some pad junk on it that I had to remove. I used IC7 though because it is apparently 3-6c cooler. -
Hi, I bought my 8130 a month ago and CPUID Hardware Monitor shows a battery wear level of 8%
I don't think this is normal, at this rate my battery should wear off in less than a year.
Any ideas? Is CUPID's monitor showing real numbers? -

With lithium ion, if possible, always charge before the battery reaches 50% if you can help it. -
I too noticed the red ghosting, it's not that big but I kind of want to get it fixed. Sent them an email. It will suck sending the laptop back as Fall semester is about to start ;'(

How difficult is it to get access to the wireless card on one of these? To change out the stock to a purchased Killer 1103 for example. I'm comfortable with doing CPU/GPU repasting, just wondering if it is as accessible as the CPU/GPU is or does it require to get deeper. hehe

How long does the shipping usually take from xoticpc? Going to order from there, probably

I purchased it through PKHETAN on these boards. (card, PSU, Heatsink)
NBR Market Place -> Computer Components -> You will see the 6990m post.
Malibal has also mentioned selling these parts. I have no idea on cost differential because Malibal was not actively mentioning this upgrade a few weeks ago when I purchased. -

Sager usually takes around 4 business days to ship, depending on their backlog. Sometimes it can be faster, and sometimes, like through the summer during the back to school rush it will take longer. They can't always be precise to tell you how long from the time you place your order until it ships, but if you ask as you place your order they can give you a "best estimate", which could change from day to day, or week to week depending on when you place your order.
It will be the same for all Sager resellers since Sager actually builds and ships them. -
Thanks for the response, paladin44. I have previously purchased a laptop from you guys @ Power Notebooks (back in 2006) and was very pleased with my experience. I am currently looking to replace my NP6630 with the 8130 and was wondering if you offer any specials/discounts for NBR members?

what ssd drivers work in our laptop???(i mean brands)
edit:this ssd works in our laptop???
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CSS...1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1314236959&sr=1-4 -
That's a good question. I'll probably upgrade somewhere down the line.
-
Your best bet may lie in Intel drives or what I'm currently using, Crucial. -
Go with Crucial if you want to save money cause Intel's ssd are somewhat expensive..I am using Crucial C300 128 GB and it works perfectly fine. Really good SSD. If you wanna go with Intel go with 510 series

So what's the deal with the headphone jack not working properly, has anyone else had this issue? Sound is fine through the speakers but when I plug in my headphones they work fine, except the sound will periodically cut out and switch back to the laptop speakers. then I'll just shuffle the jack a little or move the laptop a little and it'll go back to the headphones output for a while.
I haven't had this issue with these headphones on any other device or computer so I'm fairly sure there's something wrong with the headphone jack, or maybe the realtek audio drivers... -

Another vote for Crucial C300 but now you should get the new Crucial M4 since there is new firmware that claims 20% faster. The C300 is still faster in random read/writes though.

Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Sure it's faster, but will you actually feel it outside of benchmarks?
Nope.
Mr. Mysterious -
Just got my np8130 from xotic.
So far I've encountered a couple of issues:
-The really annoying red ghosting matte screen problem, planning to RMA
-Very poor sound quality with earphones, somehow the bass is suppressed and the sound is distorted I can say that this is bad. I'm considering getting the fiio e7 to fix this and drive my triple fi 10 properly, anyone has prior experience with external dac/amp with this laptop?
-Had to use foobar for upmixing when hooked up to my 5.1 sound system, realtek drivers couldn't do it system wide. Also bass came out as recessed. The placement of the cables can be annoying too and interfere with smooth mouth movement - not very handy for a desktop replacement, although doable.
-Laptop speakers could be better, plus I don't think i would've noticed the subwoofer had i not been aware of its presence in the specs sheet, it's quite ineffective.
-Stock wifi seems to be rather limited under linux, connection drops are frequent at moderate range, also the gtx 560 is giving me headaches to get working properly (ie proprietary drivers), likewise fingerprint reader isn't readily available (not much of an issue though)
-Charger is a brick, packs heat and is short corded (relatively).
Otherwise it seems good, keyboard is comfortable, laptop is silent and plenty powerful. I feel it has been over-hyped to great proportions though. -
First try this.
Second, fiddle with the THX Sound Settings.
Third, try FN+5 with the Realtek settings turned to " Stereo". -
I have a couple of questions after having bought this laptop about a week ago.
First is if I want to upgrade my GPU in the future, where can I buy one online? Having trouble googling it.
Second is I feel like I am not getting near the FPS I should be getting in counter strike source which is not a very hard game to run at all. I'm only in between 100-250 most of the time and it sometimes even drops below 100, which I feel is way off. I did do a benchmark test with Vantage and the numbers were completely average, but it feels sluggish in CSS so I'm wondering what's up. I ran GPU-Z while playing and it only loads to about 20% and same with the CPU.
Third, the camera on this laptop seems absolutely atrocious and unbelievably dark. No matter what I do, you can barely see anything.
Finally, jwing what appropriate temperatures are for the laptop. I'm using an external Dell U23011 and my GPU idles mid 50s with ambient around 27 and using furmark gets it up into the 80s so jwing what the danger zone is.
Thank. -
Your second question regarding CSS, have you updated your drivers yet?
Third question about the webcam. You did install the BisonCam right? I'm not sure if it appears on the start menus, but try finding the folder where you install it. Run BisonCap.exe. Then go to Options, then Video Capture Filter. Adjust the settings accordingly to your liking. If I'm right, the settings will be saved.
Lastly, although I have a different GPU, I too am connected to an external monitor (Samsung BX2235), and normally with dual monitors, the GPU runs a bit higher than average. However your safe limit is still about the 80C range anyway, so no worries. You should be however, worried when it reaches about 90C - 95C +. Your furmark temps are quite low though...did you do a burn-in test? My GTX 485m went up to 92C. -
I ran the burn-in test for furmark and my GPU plateaued in the 80s, but I did not run it to completion as I was merely testing it out quickly. -
-
And the camera, well mine's working alright...but maybe you're a just a tad more sensitive to light than me perhaps!

This is the FPS I am getting with everything on low. I had GPU-Z running on my second monitor while running CSS and the load was only 5%??!??!? Why is the GPU not working harder in order to give me more frames? Something seems wrong with this because when I ran vantage it did just fine.
Please help! -
Where else can I download drivers for the 8130 besides Sager? I'm about to re-do my laptop and only need the wireless card driver. Why is it 400MB?! Can't get any decent speeds off Sager.

Hi everyone,
I have just receieved my 8130 today and so far are enjoying it. First off the basic specs you need to know in my laptop are the i7 2630qm, the Matte type 95% Color gamut screen, 8 Gigs of ram @ 1333 Mhz, and of course the GTX 560M. I've only skimmed a few pages from this giant thread but I can answer any questions that potential buyers may have. The laptop has been doing great so far.
The "pros" so far are: speedy processor, excellent cooling, above average fan noise (as in quiet), good graphics card, and superb screen. I have also been enjoying the chiclet keyboard it comes with. As for "keyboard flex" i've not experienced any problems because of my typing style (pressing the keys lightly). If you are a hard typer you will notice some keyboard flex but not enough to the point it will become a problem.
The only "cons" I have found are that the speakers are mediocre and the battery life is not very good (as expected with a laptop of this caliber).
P.S. To knowledgeable/experienced users. Is there anyway we can activate Optimus on our machine for further battery life? I'm trying to achieve a better battery life with standard use.
If anyone has any questions regarding the 8130 feel free to ask, i'm glad to help.
