Guys,
Do you know of any good Sager/Clevo resellers in UK ?

Awww I didn't have that!
It sounds pretty nice to have...
Kinda like Malibal's then? -

We actually don't offer the branding under the screen anymore (at least, not stock). You can still request it if you like it though
Our branding is the MALIBAL logo on the lid stock (which is also optional, as we've had requests for). -
That's strange, I just received mine last week and it has both Malibal on the cover and under the LCD
-
Fuuuuu!!!!
I was ready to order from LBO in Bris as shipping is 2-3 days to Syd, as opposed to 4-5 days from Perth. I also wanted extended warranty for piece of mind.
Out of stock!!!! Wait till sept 31....3 WEEKS!!!!
My face is dripping into a pool around my feet. -
Thanks Mysterious. -
Noooo!! That must have arrowed into your heart at that point...
. I guess it's quite popular right now, seeing that the new processors are implemented and the prices are dropping.
-
mine has the branding only on the lid. i though thats just how it was, didnt know it was an option. i like the subtle branding though, plus no one knows what a malibal is.........but they should!!!
-
That's why I said strange though, because I didn't request it. That's alright though, it looks nice with it
-
Bam! Done! Went with AffordableLaptops. Just couldn't wait any longer. Base spec, no hdd no OS. Will drop in a 64GB Crucial M4 ssd and 750GB Seagate Momentus when it comes.
Now, I hate asking a question someone has already asked, but i have read through all 386 pages of this thread and i'm not going thru it all again to find it...what software do people install on fresh systems. I can remember CPUid but there were more..for monitoring temps and what not
EDIT: Thanks to The Sager NP8130 Review by Mr. Mysterious...my question is answered. -
If you're thinking of using Windows Sidebar, then these are nice to have:
GPU Temps and Usage:
http://blog.orbmu2k.de/sidebar-gadgets/gpu-observer-sidebar-gadget#more-203
CPU Temps and Usage:
OrbLog Blog Archive Intel Core Series – Sidebar Gadget
HWmonitor, A more potent temperature reader:
CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Tip: Set it as a startup process so it logs everytime you startup.
BatteryBar:

The extra programs are not really needed unless you're really nitpicky about details

Hi Guys,
I dual booted my machine with Ubuntu and Windows 7. Unfortunately my wifi doesn't work on ubuntu. I think I need wireless drivers but don't know where to find them.
Please help... -
Have you taken a look at this thread?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...6-sager-np8150-clevo-p150hm-linux-thread.html -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Which WiFi chipset are you running? Intel or the stock? The Intel card should work by default although there may be issues with mixed mode encryption.

The stock wifi may require some extra work from the thread posted by MALIBAL #3 -
Hi,
I was looking at the post by MALIBAL #3, but was not able to find an answer.
I have a stock wireless card. I dont know what is r8192ce_pci module. I saw this on the ubuntu linux forms. Could you please clarify what is r8192ce_pci module.
thanks -

I bought this psu for my np8130. Was working great for like 3 weeks, then I was playing deus ex today and it exploded in my face along with other people sitting next to me in the school library.
AC Adapter Charger Power Sager NP8150-S1 NP8150 NP8130 | eBay
Anyone know any other psus? Like the stock one if you can buy it? -
One side question, I saw this Amazon.com: Pwr+ 180 Watt Global Ac Adapter for Toshiba Pa3546u-1aca 4P for Toshiba Satellite X200 X205 / Qosmio X305 X500 X505 PQX32U-01Q017 PSPB9U-022003 PSPBUU-00D00J 19v 9.5a Laptop Battery Charger Power Cord Plug: Electronics
Pretty cheap, 180 watts, 19v, the np8130 psu is also 19v, that means it will fit right? -
Support.4@XOTIC PC Company Representative
While the power given may match, that plug is designed for the Toshiba notebook and is likely not interchangeable with the Sager/Clevo units. Your best bet is to get the power adapter that the manufacturer of the unit produces. I have seen too many third part power supplies fry a unit for me to do other wise (but that's just one guys opinion, lol).
-
Think you're right. I looked at the toshiba satelite 200, and it seems like there are 4 pins. D'aw.
-
Yeah I think I have realtek

Anyone know where we can buy any video cards to swap out in this bad boy?
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Your reseller, MXM-upgrade.com, and the NBR marketplace are all good resources. If yours came stock with the 560m/460m, then you'll also need to purchase a 180w power supply to power pretty much any upgraded card. Cards should come with the correct heatsink, but you'll need to check that as well. -
Guys, in a couple of days I'm going to be the proud owner of a new Sager NP8130 =D. I can't believe this day has come! Does anyone know a good backpack for this bad boy? Preferably with a spot for the giant PSU and enough space for a couple of books as well? Thanks =D

Comes with a nice carrying bag.

Those are like 100 dollars lol, am I the only one who thinks paying more than 50$ for a backpack is st00pid?
-
Most nice backpacks nowadays are around 50-70 dollars.
In other news today, I finally ordered my NP8130, so I am now in the "impatiently waiting" stage.
-
Planning on buying this laptop from MALIBAL because there's a lot of positive feedback on the forum (and it has a good price
). However, is a 180W AC adapter really needed for intensive use? or should I just go with the default one(120W)? Also I would like to know about the speakers sound quality and volume, because my other choice is the MSI gt683r, which has similar specs, and from what I've heard, has excellent sound quality.
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
You won't need the 180w AC adapter in the P151HM1 with the stock 560m. The only reason you'd need more power is if you wanted to aftermarket swap the GPU yourself or do heavy overclocking (neither recommended, as they can damage parts/warranty).
The speakers are pretty average, though they aren't bad once you register and run the included THX software. -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes there is a great variety of backpacks in that range. Ebay has tons of them. The Slappa ones are for those that want more of an elite type.
_ -
I think that a lot of people overemphasize the importance of speakers prior to the purchase. Wouldn't one be doing most of their gaming/listening to music with headphones anyways?
-
Fairly long time lurker on the forums and have decided it is time to get a new laptop and one that can play some modern games!
After an initial week of browsing laptops that started several weeks ago, I have decided to go with the P151HM1/NP8130 (possibly even the P150HM/NP8150).
I have just finished reading every page for this thread of the 151/8130 and like what I see.
I have set myself a limit of $1,600 USD (not including shipping) and wanted some further input/opinions on some questions and possible configurations.
Even with the limit I have set myself, the main reason I have currently chosen the 151/8130 is that I am not certain I would like the rubberized coating on the 150/8150, but again this is why I am posting is to hear anyone's input/opinions on all of this.
Couple questions to begin with:
Is there going to be any sort of a difference performance wise going from 2x4GB (8GB total) versus saving $50 and going 4x2GB (8GB total)?
If given a $1,600 limit yourself, what configuration would you go with? Would you stick with and maximize the 151/8130 or even if you know you probably wouldn't like the rubberized coating on the 150/8150 would you switch to it to get a better graphics card?
Thanks for anyone's input/opinion on this. I will probably post more questions soon. -
The 560m is definitely no slouch. It is maxing out basically every game I've tried, even Crysis runs pretty well at Very High settings at 1920x1080, although a little choppy in parts. I only played it for like half an hour though.
If gaming is going to be a main priority though, you might think about an upgraded video card.
I can attest that the regular plastic on the P151HM1 is pretty nice. It's kind of a matte plastic that doesn't pick up any fingerprints. I would think the rubberized plastic would be very high-class as well. I haven't seen it personally though.
If I had your budget, I would actually go with the P151HM1, I would keep the 500gb drive for storage or even upgrade to the 750gb one, and upgrade to the largest SSD I could afford. Probably stick the SSD in hard drive slot and the storage drive in the optical-drive slot. I would also buy an external DVD or Blu-Ray. And don't forget to at least upgrade to one of the i7's. I have the i7-2630QM and I am very happy with the performance. -

1) None that you would be able to feel, but it is recommended going 4x2GB. I've heard that's a better overall configuration if you're looking squeeze every single drop of speed out.
2) That's personal question, lol. I personally was $500 over budget, so I stuck with the 8130, confident that I can upgrade to at least a 580M
edit: I second everything citizen has said

1) The difference between 2x4GB or 4x2GB is not performance related (they'll be negligible there). The big reason to go with 2x4GB is that it leaves you with two empty slots to add more RAM later. If you fill all four slots, you'd have RAM left over if you upgraded.
2) For $1600, I'd definitely consider upgrading to a nicer graphics card/CPU in the P150HM. RAM, Hard drive, SSD, etc are all things you can add yourself down the road. The CPU/GPU, while replaceable, are extremely expensive to do yourself. The best idea is to get the best GPU/CPU for your budget and upgrade the rest later as needed. I'd consider going with the P150HM with the 485m/6990 and 2760QM and sticking with the stock HDD/8GB RAM now. You can always add an SSD for a decent boost as needed. -
1) There won't be any difference performance-wise with the RAM change. Mathematically, it makes more sense to get the 2x4GB config and save $50, then upgrade your RAM yourself later, should you need/want to.
2) Given a $1600 limit, I'd go with the NP8150 in order to get the 6990m. I was able to get the config in my sig for under $1600.
EDIT: The Crucial SSD was, of course, extra. Including the SSD, my config was just over $1700.
3) I initially thought that I wouldn't like the rubberized coating on the NP8150, but after having it for a couple of days, I can honestly say that I don't mind it at the least, and actually like it at best. Sure, there's occasional issues with the rubberized trackpad, but I use a mouse 95% of the time anyhow
-
Thank you all for the replies.
I will look into the 150/8150 as well as read up on the forum read for that particular model.
You have all provided valuable information that will further help with my decision process.
I will be sure to +rep each of you as I am able.
Thank you again. -
I've been configuring the 8150 and 8130 on multiple reseller sites, and the 8150 always comes out 100-200 more for the same specifications. Is the only difference REALLY the ruberized coating?
I'm a long time lurker, but really only starting to post on this thread for the 8130/8150, and unable to PM resellers to see what the special offers are for NBR members. Very close to pulling the trigger on this amazing machine, just looking at what the best options are out there. If you're a reseller and can PM me about it, that would be awesome. -
Hi, you need at least 5 posts on the forums before you can send and receive PMs.
-
Anyone know anything about this?
My np8130 won't hibernate anymore. Don't remember when this happened, but when I hibernatte I just get sent to the lock screen. -
5 posts before I can use the PM feature... guess it's time to make some comments on pages instead of lurking in the shadows. Thanks for the info Malibal!

The 8150 has a much better upgrade path. More video card options for sure now and maybe in the future. This is good to keep in mind.
_ -
The NP8150 has a higher wattage power adapter and the ability to hold the 580M/6990M. Personally speaking, the NP8150 wouldn't do justice without the addition of the 580M or the 6990M (higher tier GPUs) in a customer's order..
-
Is red ghosting common on the NP8130? I've read about it happening to a few people with the matte screens. If your screen does that would you be able to return it?
-
yes you can return it. I have one of those screens, I almost never notice it.
-
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
It was present in an early batch of 95% color gamut matte screens. They are no longer being shipped to customers now though. If you have it happen, it's covered by most resellers warranties/guarantees as well.
