@BillyFloyd: When you're done installing Windows and drivers, could you check the webcam quality too, real quick? I really want to know because my camera quality is unearthly hideous. It's so dark I can't see my face in a well-lit room.

Same here- very dark, almost to the point of being useless.

I can't put my finger on it right away, but I seem to recall seeing discussion of this problem somewhere in the several hundred pages of this thread. It appears to be a common complaint. Can't recall if anyone had a fix for it or not, but perhaps someone else might know.

    Lovebacon-

Just scrolled back a bit and found this exchange around page 380:

Q: Third, the camera on this laptop seems absolutely atrocious and unbelievably dark. No matter what I do, you can barely see anything.

A: ...about the webcam. You did install the BisonCam right? I'm not sure if it appears on the start menus, but try finding the folder where you install it. Run BisonCap.exe. Then go to Options, then Video Capture Filter. Adjust the settings accordingly to your liking . If I'm right, the settings will be saved.

Maybe this will help- hope so, anyway.

That's a little lower than the average of 14,800 (assuming you have the 560m), but it's most likely due to the fact that the 2410 is a lower end dual core part and most people here (and on the benchmarks) are running higher end quad cores. CPU speed doesn't affect 3DMark too much, but it does factor in to the overall score.

the score is 13838,wonder why myne is so less, would try a fresh driver installation and see....

The 560m is a relatively new card. Have you tried to upgrade to the 280.26 or 285.27 drivers currently on nVidia's site? The 285.27's also have the latest version of PhysX, which may help boost your scores a bit.

The 280.26 drivers seem to work well many have said. On your NP8130 you already have the latest bios installed.

None of the Clevo bios releases will give you a better performance. :)

I want to upgrade my clevo p151hm gtx460m to Radeon 6990m
    how much it's cost?
I think the radeon 6990m is cheaper than the gtx 485m/580m version
    is that true?

You would have to contact a Sager or Clevo dealer to get pricing and availability.

Yes the AMD 6990M is less than the 580M for sure. As far as the 485M it is close in price. :)

Should be less than 600, as upgrade from 6970m is 95 and i know the price of a lone 6970m from clevo.

Now, you will have to get a 180w ac adapter in addition to the 6990m, and the heatsink for the 6990m, and it could make it over 600 in total.

If you bought your rig from LPC digital, you can get dealer prices for components, as I was able to when I bought my 6970m. Try contacting Larry, he might give you some discounts on components.

I bought it when everyone was grabbing them, like June. It took 3 weeks for it to get delivered.
It went from Cali I think -> nebraska -> to california again to avoid tax.
I used ups 3 day, if you use ups ground it probably won't make a difference. My friend used ups ground and he got it like a day-2 after me.

Hello guys. I've just received my shiny new lotus. I didn't order windows as it is provided to me by my university. so I just installed windows, and the drivers from the DVD. Now, every few hours, the system just seems to randomly BSOD, with a "Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal" message. Did anyone else face this problem with the stock drivers from the DVD? I installed the GPU drivers from nVidia and the rest of the drivers from the DVD. I have contacted them, just want to know if anyone here has faced a similar problem and can pinpoint the driver(I'm assuming its a driver problem, ran memtest and an hdd test, both good) causing the problem. Thanks!

I haven't had a single BSOD. Did you order the P150HM or P151HM1? They are pretty similar but I have the P151HM1.

That BSOD is almost always (99% of the time) associated with one of three things: 1) bad memory, 2) video card drivers or 3) bad GPU (rare). It sounds like you ruled out bad memory, so the next step is to check the drivers. What Nvidia drivers did you download? If you're running the beta drivers, I'd roll back to the 280 or 275 release drivers and try those. You'll have to choose the "clean install" option when running the installer. If that doesn't help any, use HwMonitor and watch the temps on your GPU as well as consider running stress test software to see if it's overheating or potentially faulty.

    I too have the P151HM1

Yeah I ran a pass of memtest, will run a couple more if the problem persists to completely rule out the RAM. Regarding the GPU drivers, I'm using the latest stable(280.26) drivers, so I don't see a problem there. But I'll try a clean re install once more anyway, just to be sure. Couldn't it be any other conflicting driver? Is there any driver on the DVD that I should update specifically from clevo or the manufacturers website?

It could potentially be driver conflicts, but that would be unusual. If you want to try updating, I'd start with the chipset drivers first though.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/573379-clevo-driver-thread-20.html

Have you installed any new software between when it worked and now? Try running Whocrashed and seeing if you can get more detailed logs if it BSoD's again.

Sometimes BSOD's are quick, but around half way to 3/4 of the way down the screen there is usually a line or two that has a description of the affected file/driver, that can usually give you some kind of hint as to what caused it.

There might be a log file as well, but I've never gone looking for it.

OK, updated/re-installed the chipset driver and a couple more drivers. Also removed and re-installed the GPU drivers. The only softwares I have installed are Firefox and Winrar just after I installed Windows, and it's been BSODing since then. It's been a couple of hours, no errors yet. If it does BSOD, I'll try Whocrashed, and maybe a fresh re-install of Windows, but I really don't want to go through that.

I've disabled automatic reboot so that I can note down the complete contents of the BSOD. The file it mentions here is NETIO.SYS along with an address and a base. I have the crash dumps(5 in total) that I sent to MALIBAL. They also asked me to re-install GPU drivers. So lets see how it goes from here.

P.S. Thanks for the help guys! Really appreciated.

4 cores but hyperthreading on cores make it seem like 8 cores in device manager.

Anyone else's battery hinges break? This is weird, I have only removed the battery a few times and that was like 1-2 months ago... they are made of plastic the piece on the laptop, battery is fine...

I've temporarily macgyvered used tape to act as a sort of clamp.

Also the back usb port has a lot of energy lol.

All connected: keyboard, mouse, phone, x-fi usb audio hd, dfgt steering wheel, and a usb dvd drive(actually the laptop's original dvd drive in an enclosure)

It's kind of messy now. I put a thin layer of hot glue, which can be easily removed mind you :p and it goes to the side to give it more friction so the battery won't pop out easily. Kind of covers where it broke though.

Basically, where the hinges connect where you lock the battery in place, they are just torn off, chipped plastic. The battery hinges are in perfect condition. I've never even been rough with the battery, or laptop for that matter. I assume they broke when I have dragged my laptop across a table when I needed to grab it, since one of the rubber gromets is on the battery, must have put too much stress.

It shouldn't be showing 8 cores, though it should be showing 8 threads. Hyperthreading is 2 threads per core, for 8 threads total. Normal and expected on the Sandy Bridge quad cores :)

This is strange. That's an unusual issue, even more so on such a new machine. It sounds like that may have been the case though as the rubber on the battery would have gripped the table when you slid it. I'd contact your retailer about it.

I sent an email to Xotic to check my options, though I'm pretty hesitant to this laptop back since I am using it everyday for school and at apt.

Quick fix for anyone else who breaks them, screw the glue, it just makes a big mess and doesn't work very well.

Just get 2 thick strands of gorilla tape and tape it to the battery on the backside, stack them onto the battery. Gorilla tape is fairly thick, that's why it works well, the sticky side is only on the battery, not on the laptop. Puts a good deal of resistance, doesn't slip out at all and is still movable when you need to take it out.

Are you talking about the fan pulsing issue? It was addressed in the newer bios, but it's still present- just not as noticeable as it once was. It's worth upgrading to the newer bios if you're running an old model to see if it makes a difference for you.

Alright thanks, I'm probably running an older bios. Do I have to ask my reseller for the BIOS, because I don't see them floating around? I do not want to flash a clevo BIOS since I don't think I can flash back to a Sager BIOS.

Yes, if you're running a non-Clevo bios, contact your reseller for the most current one. Don't switch between them unless you have no plans to go back.

Yes you should ask your reseller for the latest bios and EC package. There are 2 files. Each are image files that easily burn to a CD, then you boot to it... :)

    an NP8130 with a 2630qm, 16GB DDR3, Bluray, an Intel 510 SSD (120GB), matte screen! I'm a happy guy.

I just got my NP8130 the other day. When I initially used HWMonitor, it was reporting my battery wear level at 0%. I then took it to class today for couple hours. HWMonitor is now reporting wear level as 3%?

    This doesn't seem normal?

I am required to use TrueCrypt on my laptop for work. I noticed that on my 8130 TrueCrypt 7.1 reports my CPU as being not AES-NI capable, as does CPU-Z.

My CPU is an I7-2630QM, which supports AES-NI so is this a problem with the NP-8130 not supporting AES-NI? I'm running TrueCrypt 7.1 on a Sony with an I5, and it does report AES capability.

Seems strange that the I7 on the Sager notebook would not support the AES CPU instructions.

When the 2630QM was released, it was noted by Intel as not supporting AES at all. They have since updated their page to say otherwise. When the 2630 was originally shipped, it went with a Bios that did not enable AES for the above reason. I believe the newest Bios adds AES-NI support for the 2630, but I am not certain. Either way, it IS a feature that can be added back in through an update.

That said, if your chip is ES (Engineering Sample), the above may be moot as those apparently have AES disabled by default and no Bios upgrade will bring that feature back.
