Issue? what do you mean issues? well glossy is very bright and can have smudges if you touch the screen as for matte it is little less bright but has no glare and does not get that much smudges

Was referring to what dhoodle wrote about ghosting on the 95% gamut screens. Hoping that wasn't a common experience. Clearly it's not. I know the pro's and cons to matte and glossy, went with glossy because it's brighter and generally looks better ( not as washed out of color).

So, I know I haven't even got my laptop yet, but I'm already thinking down the road. Where would one buy a nvidia gtx 580m? I've google'd it and can't seem to find any retailers selling the mobile version. I want to keep and eye on these for next year when the gtx 560m won't be able to play the top games at high/ultra (like it can with most games now).

I guess every screen is different in having dead/stuck pixels. Hopefully the one that you get doesn't have one. I got the V.4 Matte screen and HOPEFULLY dont have dead/stuck pixels...

I have seen the red ghosting issue whilst scrolling through 100 pages of these threads... Maybe a reseller can elaborate on what it is exactly?

@ Someguy - thanks for the info about the wireless cards... Will probably upgrade now :)

@DJRX8000 - if you want to upgrade then GPU in the future, be sure to buy the 180 watt PSU, as the 120 watt PSU that comes with the P151 cannot handle the larger GPU's.

what issues are you talking about? i haven't seen any mention of anything bad with the 95% of the screens.

The red ghosting was an issue that affected some earlier batches of (mostly 95% matte) screens. It caused a red tint on screens during rapid refresh or color changes. However, it's since been noticed and screens are being more thoroughly tested to be sure the ghosting screens don't make it out of QA (they primarily affected only a particular batch though).

Is the QA you mention Malibal's own QA process, or Sager's, or is it that of the screen manufaturer (AUO)?

Every reseller and manufacturer (or system builder) has their own level of QA. There's probably a small QA the screens go through at AUO, but it is the system builders (the actual people that put the thing together) where it matters most. That's where the ghosting is usually caught.

Glossy screens are actually less bridge, they are more contrasty though.

So xoticpc.com checks for the red ghosting issue before they go out the door? or does Sager do that? I was under the impression that a lot of Sager orders go straight from Sager to the end user, depending on what type of customizations the user requested.

Yup, Sager builds all of ours. Our ASUS and MSI models all go through a strict QA process at the Xotic PC warehouse. And any Sagers that come to us for some Xotic PC upgrades. All our Sager models, however, go through a very strict QA program from Sager, including the ghosting issue.

It's nice to hear that they go through a rigorous QA process. I can't wait for mine, but the worst part, I have to wait until the 25th no matter what. I also got 16gb's of 1333mhz ram, but I'm not completely sure if I'll notice it from 8gb's ( coming from 2 right now, so either way it would have been a huge upgrade). What do you guys think? Also, is anyone running mine craft on this computer, if so, what are you getting for fps at settings maxed?

Why do you have to wait till the 25th? Is that how long they said you order would take?

I ordered from Xoticpc ( Thanks JP :notworthy: ) on Cyber Monday and my system is still in Phase 1 due to back ordered Bigfoot Killer cards with no known ETA. tick-tick-tick... The wait will be well worth it if my system is 100% with no issues. Fingers crossed

If you want my honest suggestion, I would get that WLAN changed, the latest ETA we have for the 1103's from Bigfoot Network direct is the middle of January. So you'll probably be waiting a long time for them.

Oh isee Mythlogic. Thank you for the info.

@Sneakin Wow you have the exact same specs as mine but mine is from Malibal. I guess Bigfoot is worth it if you have a router that supports it. My router doesn't support high internet speeds cus it is really old. Netgear WPN824v2 so...I am thinking about changing it. But I am probably going to use Wired internet most of the time so... yeah :)

I would say yes, but this is a good read (Not trying to self promote it really is good info) AnandTech - Bigfoot?s Killer-N 1102 Wireless Networking vs. the World

So you might want to roll with something like a 6230 or the stock wireless and then you can get a 1102 or 1103 to put in.

what is the best router to have using the BigFoot wiresless 1103? Currently i have the NetGear WPN824v2... I use wired Ethernet mostly but I want to change it to a new router regardless of using wired. Any recommendation?

You'd want to look for a router that can do 450Mbps 5ghz and/or 450Mbps 2.4ghz (simultaneous dual band are the best). There are only a handful of routers out there that can do it at the moment. I'd recommend the one I use at home, but I believe it'd be against the reseller rules to name names for recommendations :)

I know the Apple Airport extreme has this functionality. Though, I'm not to sure on how well its update software works in Win7. If you don't mind a little chunky program, it's a great router.

Been a while since I've posted here. I was having problems with my laptop but I think I've finally figured it out.

The problem: Graphics driver crashes and eventual screen artifacts that persisted after reboot but went away if the laptop was left off for a few minutes. I leave my laptop on 24/7 most of the time and the issue didn't really crop up unless it was left on a day or longer. Upgrading drivers didn't fix the problem.

The cause: I have a dual monitor setup. Nvidia's drivers automatically clock the graphics card to full 3D clocks whenever a 2nd monitor is present. This means the graphics card is running at full speed all the time putting an incredible amount of stress on the system.

The solution: Multi-purpose GPU tool Nvidia Inspector has a built-in Multi-Display Power Saver function. It runs at startup and keeps the GPU running at the lowest 2D clockspeed unless programmable criteria are met.

You can take a look here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/net...-advanced-n-6200-vs-ultimate-n-6300-a-20.html

Read post #196 (my post) to the end to understand which router is most recommended. I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago.

Basically, stay away from 450 Mbps 2.4GHz since having three-stream (three antennae) connection in this band would be detrimental to overall performance because 2.4GHz is overcrowded nowadays.

Three-stream radio is recommended with 5GHz bands.

Simply put, routers with 2.4GHz three-stream 450 MBps connections are a gimmick.

I recommend the Linksys E4200 as a dual-band wireless-N router. It has three-stream only in the 5GHz band.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Hey all,

I have a few more questions..

    1. When purchasing the HDD Optical Bay Caddy - when you go to chose it - it is $15. But if you take Malibal for example - right down the bottom, they have Hard Drive Caddy For Optical Bay - N-CAD-ODD for $45. Are we meant to order this as well? And if so - why the $15 charge above?

    2. For the resellers in Las Vegas - I will be over in Vegas for 5 days in the new year. Any chance we could arrange a pickup?

i think its only +15 because theres already a dvd drive included in the price, if you replace with hdd optical bay caddy then the value of the dvd drive is deducted from the original caddy price.

just looking on LPC website also, and they have this also...

Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy (Caddy Only) Used For Installing Your Own Hard Drive (+$45.00)

I'm just wondering if this is an extra HDD Caddy... in case you want to swap them... hrmm...

It's listed twice depending on how you want to do it. The smaller charge is because you choose the caddy instead of the optical drive, which makes the price slightly less. The larger price is if you order the caddy in addition to the built-in optical drive.

Hey guys, I'm looking forward to get a 2012 Clevo in Fall 2012. I'm still contemplating between the fastest i5 ( or i7 dual if resellers have them for good price) and i7 quad (lowest clock). The games I only play are BF series, and GTA V when it comes out (don't play much, just messing with free world environment). I have been running on i7 720qm, feel like it's too much for me, I don't use all of the power it offers. I do work, surf web, occasionally play games. I don't do any coding and encoding stuffs.

    Which should I settle with

For future scenarios, and considering the pace at which new games are becoming more optimized, I'd definitely go with the Quad Core, despite each core having lower clocks individually than the two of the fastest Dual Core.

Thanks for the response, I also care about the heat too, knowing that the machine is capable of blowing the heat out. But I would want regular surfing work temps to be lower than 40 or 45 atleast (plus the optimus in coming model)... And beside I don't like the fan noise kicks in and out..

Is disabling the quad cores to two physical cores a good idea ?

edit: I will be keeping the laptop around for 3-4 years atleast. And btw, does CPU bottleneck games in real life

For most games right now, CPU does not bottleneck. However, one cannot say with certainty if the same will hold true for future games, especially in the context of a Dual Core CPU vs a Quad Core CPU. To my knowledge, the difference in temperature between QC and DC is minimal during gaming, especially when both have cooling solution added to them.

I have an NP-8130, this maybe a crazy question, but here goes..
It has a HM65 chipset with 6 Gbit/s, 2 Ports & 3 Gbit/s, 4 Ports. I know the usb3.0 is on one of the 6 Gbit/s.. not sure what the other 6 gbit/s is running to.. But I am using a Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle HDMI capture card, works good but I need to add a second one. Would there be any way to open up the 8130 and add a second native usb 3.0 card/ port? There is not enough bandwidth to run the second shuttle from the other usb3 port as they are on the same bus, but if I could access the second bus it should work. Any ideas or help would rock.
    Cheers-

Well ladies and gents, I am new to this website but love it already. I am also new to owning a Sager. i have always known about them, but always owned Dell or built my own pc until now. My new 8130 will arrive at my house this weds from Sager direct.

    Here are the specs..

    i7-2670QM Processor

    Genuine MS Windows® 7 Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition ( 64-Bit Preloaded )

    16GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 4 X 4GB

    500GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive

Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M GPU with 1.5GB GDDR5

    My questions are...

    1) can i expect to run most high end games on high settings without a problem? heating shouldn't be a problem considering i will be keeping it in my basement which stays at a cool 58-63 degrees at all times.

    2) will my Ram be downclocked to 1300mhz rather than 1600, even though it wasn't stated anywhere when i was ordering it, that the 2670 wasn't capable of supporting the 1600mhz.

any help would be great, i appreciate it and am very excited to join the sager/clevo community.

    1) You should be able to play most games at high settings. Here's a link to benchmarks for that card with a long list of games and average settings/framerates:

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

    2) Yes, your RAM will be downclocked to 1333Mhz as the 2670 does not support 1600Mhz RAM at all. The HM65 chipset has no support for overclocking it either.

Thats not quite how it works =)

There are two SATA3 ports that come off the HM65 chipset, only one is in use (SATA0 where the HDD is) the other one isn't used on this chassis. The USB 3.0 is hooked up via PCIE (PCI-Express) which in a x1 configuration is 500MB/sec max transfer. Its not really hooked up at all to the SATA bus. If you wanted to you would have to get a USB 3.0 mPCIE (mini PCI Express) card, which should hook into the mPCIE slot on the bottom, however, it would take some custom modding to get the plug exposed.

Thanks so much for the info! Found a schematic, this is all still a bit new to me, where would the usb 3.0 mPCIE go, on the same PCIE as the original usb3, maybe ditch the rj-45 and the card reader? or on the PCIE that has the graphics card? Would it still have the bandwidth if set up like this? I would probably take it in to a shop to have the work done. Thanks again for the help!

I was disappointed to learn this after the fact, as well. Maybe they can add this info to the page?

Hey guys, is this performance really what I should be getting? If not, what might the problem be? Pretty disappointing performance.

    Sager NP8130 from XoticPC
    Core i7-2670QM 2.20GHz
    GTX 560m 1.5GB
    12GB ram

    SC2
Ultra: Unplayable input lag. 30-35 fps with no units on screen. 20fps with an average amount of units on the screen.
High: 40-45, but the input lag is still terrible. When dragging my cursor diagonally to make a box, you can visibly see a large gap (delay) between the box and the cursor.
Medium: 60-70 fps with medium units on screen. Some input lag, but not terrible.
    Low: No input lag 90fps

Skyrim: Very high 18-20fps, High 25fps, Low 35-40fps

Those seem a little on the low end. Are you running with the newest video drivers and are you plugged in to the AC (not running on battery)? In addition to AC- are you in high performance power mode and not battery saver? It sounds like you're most likely in a power saving mode or trying to run on the battery.

    Yes, the latest video drivers.
Yes, I am plugged in and in high performance. When I'm not plugged in, I get ~8 FPS on ultra, and that jumps about 2.5x+ while plugged in.
I thought it seemed low too, but I'm not sure what to do.

Also I ran some tests and nothing is overheating
