anyone know why the power supply for this laptop is still so expensive?
I'd buy the one on ebay again AC Adapter For SAGER NP8130 Gaming Laptop Notebook PC Power Supply Cord Charger | eBay
this but mine cought on fire in the school library when playing deus ex
    i am not kidding btw
    and some random 180watt (universal)
died in 2 seconds when i tried

i bought the 180watt one (np8150) for like 120$, but I want to get another 130watt psu, since I don't really have a need for 180watt one.
i think the 130watt one is 80$, why so expensive?

Can someone point me to the USB 3 driver for the NP8130? I have checked the driver thread and the link is incomprehensible to me.

Go on your resellers website or check out Sagers official website, they've got some drivers online.

AC adapters are expensive because they are essentially an External PSU. They require high quality components to proved nonfluctuating power output and expensive cooling solutions because they don't have fans.

Have you installed your touch-pad drivers and software and configured it from within its properties?

    Try again.

Check the RAM, take 1 out, try again, take the other one out and put the first one in. If it doesn't fix it, then I call bad HDD, get a new one :) it might be corrupted

    Hi Guys,

My P151HM1 running Windows 7 is not connecting to my WPA2-PSK network. It has worked fine previously, and I am able to connect to a different unsecured network. It shows the yellow caution sign over the network taskbar icon, and says "Currently connected to: Unidentified network No Internet access." The other people in my family are able to connect to this WPA2-PSK network (they however use macs).

    Any help would be appreciated!

except you can get even larger power supplies even cheaper
clevo is just overcharging or someone is

Anyone's usbs dying? The one on the left closest to you(the usb 2.0) not the 3.0 has been dead since like forever, and it's dead for my friend's np8130 as well. It charges your phone though...
but now the one on the right side has also died. Build quality seems to be pretty bad for clevos.

I've only had it for about 1.3 years now

Could it be drivers? If it charges phones.then power is still going out. Perhaps reinstall your USB drivers. I've seen several laptops do that here at work.

An EC reset can sometimes bring USB ports to life.

I would do that and also take the cmos battery out for a while. See if that helps.

i don't think so, i mean i've flashed many different bios and ec verisons on this laptop and always has this issue.

Though, the right usb port does in fact work. It just doesn't see it in the BIOS. Like if I plug in a usb thumb stick to boot from, it doesn't see it. However in the OS it does.

But yeah the usb 2.0 next to the 3.0s doesn't work at all for data, regardless of OS or anything.
    (Tried linux)

In fact... I plugged my phone into it, and instead of "USB" power to limit the phone to 500mah, it actually sees it as "AC"

    It looks fine physically though.

I remember reading about someone using the 675m (just a 580m branded so it shout work). The 7970m does indeed work. Just need to flash vbios on it. If you get it from mythlogic, malibal, or sager it will come with correct heatsinks and also correctly flashed vbios. This is for p150hm, so not 100% sure about compatibility on p151hm. At the very least you'd probably need a more powerful power supply.

Issue on my end. Lately I've been having this thing where I think it's the CPU fan decides to suddenly get loud and somewhat 'grindy' sounding, not to mention it causes a lot of vibrations all across the surface of the laptop. It generally runs at high power, but I usually hear little more than the sound of air flowing and only slight vibration on the left side of the laptop near where the fan would be.

This 'grindy' state has been happening off and on, although not CONSTANTLY just yet, and after toggling fn+1 a bunch of times, it goes back to being quiet again for a few hours. I'm getting hints the sound might be a result of a bearing coming loosing in the fan and I've been told that means a replacement fan is probably recommended. However I've had a hard time finding a replacement fan for this thing, because I'm not sure first off if the same fans for CPU/GPU that are used for the NP8150 or the NP8170 work or not with the NP8130. According to a site known as RK Computers, they have fans in stock for CPU/GPU, and each fan is stated to work on both the 8150/8170, but says nothing about the 8130. Can anyone who's had experience replacing fans for an 8130 tell me where it's best to find a replacement fan? o.o

The site above does say they can get them on special order, but I'm being lead around a lot in having to pay for it a specfic way, and for all I know, they might be trying to screw me over in some way, especially if it turns out the fans on their site which say they're for 8150/8170 do actually work just fine for the 8130. Other than that site though, I haven't found any other places offering up the fans to purchase. I have sent a few messages to XoticPC.com, where I got my 8130, but that wasn't long ago and I haven't gotten a response yet. >.>

If anyone can help me on this issue, much much internets would be won. Thanks. :p

Edit: Forgot to mention, I've had my 8130 since mid-March, 2011, so a little over a year and a half. >.>

It is under the keyboard (but you need to remove the whole palm rest to see it.

It doesn't have any sort of heatsink, but there is so little room for one.

Though you could probably add a copper sheet on top of it with some thermal tape. Don't know how that would change your temps.

I have been using my P150HM1 for last 9 months. My last hard drive failed on me. I lost all of my important files. Thankfully MALIBAL replaced it for free.

As a student, I move around a lot. From train to buses... I have to carry my laptop all the time. I don't want to be in risk of losing my important files in the future. It's time for an upgrade. So I was thinking of going with SSD/Hybrid to deal with my lifestyle. It's once in a year investment. It doesn't mean I am going to spend a fortune on it. What do you experts suggest? What brand should I go with? What worked the best for you?
Amazon.com: Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 32 MB Cache 2.5 Inch Solid State Hybrid Drive ST750LX003: Computers & Accessories
And is hybrid drive a good deal for me? ($$ and Quality-wise).

Yes it's a good investment. The 750GB 8GB NAND Momentus XT

I would recommend making a backup of your machine once a month or just use Dropbox or SkyDrive to save your important documents... everything I've got is backup'd and the rest is just downloads :)

With moving around all the time, a mechanical HDD will always be prone to failure due to the design of the device itself. Has moving parts and a head that reads the data which is prone to causing damage by jostling it. Modern HDDs don't have a problem with this as much as older ones but it's still an issue. For the most security, you might want to invest in a SSD as there are no moving parts. If that's out of the question, the 750gb Hybrid drive is the next best thing for the money and performance.

    Hello all,

I purchased my NP8130 about a year ago. It's been running great except for this one issue -

about 4-5 months ago I started to have this problem while playing games (BF3, LoL, WoW, and every other game I own)/playing videos. The screen will freeze for .5 - 1 second and the sound will make this loud crackle type noise for the duration of the freeze. I can go entire days of long game playing without it happening, then it can happen several times an hour. I have looked all around the internet, and most people that seem to have the same problem (it's really hard to search for this specific problem) fixed it by reinstalling their sound drivers. I have done this several times, including just disabling them all together. With the sound drivers disabled its hard to tell if I get the same issue, but I'm pretty sure it still happens. I have reinstalled video drivers, done memory tests, and a few other things with no avail.

When it happens, in the task manager preformance screen my CPU usage goes up to almost 100% for that second. Also using the DCP sound test, and during that second it freezes the bar goes high into the red. I am stumped at what I can do to fix this very annoying problem.

    System specs:
    i7-2630QM 2ghz CPU
    560m GPU
12gb RAM (started with the 8gb RAM, upgraded it a bit, but also tried putting the old sticks in to see if the new memory was the problem, and it still did not fix it)
    750gb HDD
Everything else is standard NP8130 specs.

    Thanks to anyone that responds!

Were you trying clean installs of the drivers?

Short of the driver reinstalls not working, have you also tried doing a clean install of Windows and see if it reoccurs?

Does it only happen when doing the things you mentioned, or will it also happen during general use such as music playing or web browsing?

I haven't heard of a problem exactly like this before so as much detail as possible will go a long way.

    That's a stock photo.
I asked them if it works with the np8130 and they asked what voltage our laptop uses which is 19v, and the diamater of our plug. I didn't know that, so I never replied.

The alienware psu is 19v, so there is a good chance it will work.
180W Alienware M9700 M9700i-R1 AC Power Adapter Charger

I may buy it... unlesss you want to first, I am broke ;x.

The connector does look the same
    [IMG]

There is also a picture of someone plugging it in
    looks exactly the same...

    They also have 14day returns.

Could get both. I have a 500gb seagate momentux xt in the 2nd drive bay, and a 120gb ssd in the primary.

5.5 x 2.5mm 19v, those specs work with the p150EM, I think it should be the same for the p150HM. So it looks like that PSU would fit.

The NP81xx models didn't support optimus technology and because of that don't have iGPU support. You will need to have the dedicated card in your system to have it being workable.

i know that if i wanted to upgrade my gpu (to a 460m to a 580m) i would need a new 180w power supply and a new heatsink. but my question is, can i still use my stock heatsink with the 580m? im trying to cut costs as much as possible. and also, im seeing a lot of MXM 3.0 cards on ebay. if i buy a used 580m mxm 3.0 card (taken out of a alienware) can it be used in my 8130 with the needed psu and heatsinks?

I've had my NP8130 for a year and a half now and just ran into a problem with my display.
Two grey bars, about a centimeter in height, run across the length of my screen cutting it into thirds. They stop and restart without any lost information and have bumped the start bar off the bottom of the screen.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas of a simple fix or is this time to buy a new display?

Either the GPU's fault or the monitors fault.. hard to determine. Have you tried benchmarking stresstesting the GPU to exclusive that it is the problem?

Either way talk to your reseller, if a RMA is possible it'll be good, otherwise a new display should do it (saying that it's the problem).

Cool, but do you absolutely need the latest bios/ec?

I am using a very old bios. Since the newer ones throttle my 2720 ES.

This bios doesn't even officially support the 560m, but it works fine.

Also that display corruption, is probably the gpu.
I'd plug your gpu to a monitor with hdmi/dvi and disable the latpop monitor. If there is no corruption, then it's the display.

Dell cards are typically designed to work in their systems. The slots are still typically the same but they have custom heatsinks as well as proprietary firmware that doesn't allow to much mix and match to occur.

You can try, but no specific guarantees. We've only tested on the newest BIOS / EC

Hmm, I plugged in a monitor into the dvi and hdmi port.

When I try to enable the hdmi monitor, and disable the laptop monitor (since it says only two external displays are supported)
    It just says:
"Your changes cannot be applied right now. This may be due to any of the following reasons:
A video is playing or a video application is running.
A game or 3d application is running in full-screen mode.
A command window is running in full screen mode.
You have rotated your desktop with the Rotate Display page.
The Display Optimization wizard is running."

I am running Windows 8, anyone else have any ideas?

    EDIT: Got it.

    I went here
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download.asp

and I selected p151hm1 and went to the "ALL drivers"
and downloaded the hotkey utility, restarted.
    All works now.
