I'm have the same problem . When I installed windows 8 , windows installed the generic AMD driver and brightness control did not work, but after installing 11.10 it worked flawlessly. Then windows 8 apps looked low resolution with muddy texture. Then I installed the latest AMD beta driver and the apps looks sharp again but no brightness control. So I think the issue is with AMD drivers because I did not change any driver except AMD drivers

I've been searching around, and I've decided to ask here: My NP8150 has a 95% color gamut glossy screen. But - but - but! The colors are way too red in comparison to the screens of P150EMs. Seeing as they use the same screens, and as I have not been able to directly compare my screen to another NP8150, could this be an issue with the connection to the main board? My webcam also looks pretty , shadows are way too dark for some reason, and it also looks oversaturated.

sounds like u just need a proper display calibration :) tools like the spyder could help out there. how much is that again? like 50 bucks or so?

edit: nope more like 150 bucks! lol

Haha yeah they're pricey! You can get a spyder pro 2 for around $50 on eBay though! The current version is the spyder 4.

Just updated to W8 on my Clevo P150H - Its all working perfectly EXCEPT there is no brightness control. Although as others have mentioned it can be controlled while booting, just not after the logon screen.

I've installed too. No problems with anything including brightness (The Fn keys all work fine).

I have two entries in Device Manager as "Base System Device" and not really sure what these are referring too. Anyone any ideas?

srry for double post but i will write here down what could cause the brightness issue, i just installed a fresh copy of Win8 Pro and atm it works, but i didn't installed any drivers yet  i will edit the post from time to time

    1. Fresh Copy - Brightness works
    2. Installed Windows 8 Desktop Wrapper - No Icon anymore on Top left but Brightness works
    3. Installed Chipset INF 9.3.1.1007 (with -overall -overwrite) - Brightness works
    4. Installed IRST 11.6.2.1002 - Brightness works
    5. Installed Hotkey 6.0045 with Compatibility Set to Windows 7 - Brightness still works + Hotkey Icon appears
    6. Installed CardReader 1.0.72.04 - Brightness works
    7. Installed 7970M Drivers 12.11b4 - Brightness not working anymore

    gotcha

I have the same setup as Scerate (P150HM with 7970M, tried with 12.11b3 and b4) and with me the P1xxEM hotkey driver didn't do the trick.

My temps on my 6990m have been recently going crazy. When I first got it, maxed out games ran at 85C MAX. 8-10months later, it's been hitting 103C... propping it up and trying to get maximum airflow its stable around 96C at full load. my laptop is filled with dust and I may even do a repaste when I'm cleaning it.
my question is, are there any dismantling/cleaning/repasting guides for the p150hm? so many posts on this site, don't know where to start
    cheers

Just cleaning out the dust could do the trick. If you want to do a repaste as well you can download a manual here P15xHM_ESM.zip

Good chances are you have large mats of lint on your vents. Once your take of the kid and the fans you can really get all that dust out. That should help.

    Hey all!
I was trying to upgrade my windows 7 to Windows 8 last night on my np8150 (2720qm and 6970m) and it failed. So I decided to try to upgrade drivers and was doing some research. I upgraded the realtek hd audio driver to the latest one that is windows 8 compatible and that seemed to work fine, but then I proceeded to upgrade to the beta driver u guys have been speaking of here for the video card. The upgrade went fine and installed except the hdmi out completely got screwed up. I use an external 1920x1200 monitor and the laptop screen as a secondary. The external screen goes crazy and looks like a big fuzzy mess, while the internal is fine. I had to system restore to get it back to normal. What can I do? How could I get the Windows 8 update to stop failing? I checked the setuperr log and it is completely empty. I also have no $windows~BT folder. The update has already failed 3 times. Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Sorry about the double post here...

Alright! So I finally managed to get it running. I installed the realtek drivers, the touchpad drivers, and the card reader drivers. Everything else seemed to have installed by itself (except for things like hotkeys). I can report that brightness does not work and I am worried about trying to change the drivers. Did u guys have any success with any of the AMD drivers for 6970M? External screen works fine at this point too, but yeah the brightness issue is present. Also on another note - I tried to install the latest synaptics drivers for windows 8 (v16) thinking that i could get gestures to work, but I just lost more functionality than with the basic driver from sager's website. So are gestures possible on this trackpad or is that a far fetched dream? :)

have u tried an older version of the driver yet?maybe run the installer as an administrator and in win7 compatibility mode? another option would be to boot win8 with driver signature enforcement disabled and try the install again.

hmmm...as for the numpad, have u possibly deactivated it by pressing Fn+Num? happens to me sometimes :p
as for the rest, gimme some time to think about it...

edit: when u dont install a driver manually for ur wifi card, does windows update detect it correctly and possibly install a standard microsoft driver for it? also, have u checked intel's support website, see if they have stated issues with win8 or maybe have released some special drivers for it?

haha the numpad fix worked. silly me thanks again for the help.

yes it installs correctly, there aren't errors. what do you mean install a standadd microsoft driver? they have stated they may be issues and to just install the driver twice without uninstalling it, i have tried this method but it still doesnt work

If you use Firefox you can get an add on called Auto Pager. As you get to the bottom of one page it will load the next 3 pages so you can just keep scrolling down. It's pretty handy.

Guys I really need your help. Since I have installed Windows 8 on my notebook (Sager 8150) it always happens that explorer.exe restarts when in desktop mode (taskbar disapears for 2 seconds and appears again).
This happens very often on different intervals. I have no idea why this is as all my drivers are up to date, patches are up to date.
Is there a way to track some details once explorer.exe restarts?

    Thanks!

That's definitely not the ideal situation to be in. I'd contact your reseller and see about getting an RMA set up for repair, probably need to replace the jack itself. I've gotten by with an elaborate rig of rubber bands and pins to keep my charging pin at the exact angle it needed to be to work, but it's a temporary fix and sooner or later that itself will stop working as well.

    Hi Guys,

Anybody know if it is possible to upgrade the gpu in a p150hm from a gtx 560M to a 670MX? I found a 670MX but the vendor web site says it's for a p150em not p150hm. I'm not sure of the difference or whether it would be an issue?

Also, cpuid indicates my mainboard is a p150hm, the label on the bottom of the laptop model says p151hm1. I also already have upgraded the psu from 120 w to 180 w.

    Looking for some expert guidance!

    Many Thx!

psu and cooling system-wise u should be fine. only problem would be the compatibility of the 670MX. so far i havent seen anyone try to upgrade his HM machine to that card. best case, its just plug n play, worse case ull have to mod some driver .inf files to get it to be recognized properly in windows and worst case ull have to come up with a modded vbios in order for the card to be recognized by the machine.

no idea which would be the case tho! check the offer of that vendor and see if theyd allow u to return the card in case u cant get it to run.

Every other time I wake my computer up from sleep mode (I've started doing this since my SSD is really slow when resuming from hibernation) the computer does not respond to input from the mouse, and within a minute I will get a BSOD with message "Bugcode USB Driver". Recently, (still a while ago) I got the message that one USB device was not working (which was not true, as all USB ports were in use and functioning), which kept popping up every 5-10 seconds in the task bar, until I disabled the "unknown device" in device manager. I don't know if this is relevant information.

    What could the solution be?

Thx Jaybee83. Hehe, no chance of that from the vendor. They clearly state the card is not returnable. $300 gamble!

that aint true, the P150HM is designed for 100W TDP gpus like the 485M, 580M, 680M, 6990M, 7970M.....hopefully to be continued :p so ure good to go in that regard :)

the 680M just needs some simple driver modifications, very easy and quick to implement :)
