I saw some photographs of this laptop opened. The CPU fan case is the same size as the GPU but the actual size of the fan is smaller. Is there a way to replace the CPU fan with another bigger like the GPU's?

I think they are based on the older 268.49 drivers.

Yeah you probably need a 560M or 580M for these. Sorry.

I'm not sure how it works now. It's really odd because I just put back my optical drive back in to install some games, since I used the odd space for a secondary drive, and now it works fine. The colors are back and everything. It's really weird >.>. Oh wellz. Maybe its because I turned off the computer and took the cable and batteries out to put in the odd drive back in. Not sure though.

If I remember correctly, users with an AMD/ATI GPU can't swap with the NVIDIA GPUs. Basically there are two variants of the P150HM, one that supports the Nvidia based GPUs and one that supports the AMD/ATI group.

But if you ARE thinking of upgrading later on (to the newer 6990m presumably), BIOS/Firmware/EC of the laptop must be updated for the motherboard to recognise the newly installed GPU. Then software/drivers should be the easy part; there are plenty at the Sager Support website.

    Hope this helps!

Does anyone elses 8150 run cooler with an external monitor? My 6970 runs on average 5*C cooler hooked up via DVI. I'm just wondering why?

Are you serious. That is amazing lol. Wait, is it dual screen or just your external monitor in use

My 6970m, and others that I have spoken to, clocks up to 250-900 when hooked up via DVI and running dual screen. It dles at about 66 degrees!! 20 degrees higher than when running only on my laptop screen.

I manually downclock the card to keep it at low settings 100-150 and it stays the same temp as only using one screen.

No dual screen running, just the external monitor. I'm just curious why this happens. Yeah, dual screens makes mine run so much hotter. I've seen upwards to 70 idle while web surfing. Surely dual setup isn't that taxing on this beast....

Try messing with the THX settings. Turn up Dialog Plus, and Smart Volume. Just fiddle with them until you get the best output.

hi guys i'll be receiving my NP8150 for about 4-5 days from LPC (c/o Larry) with 580M gpu and intel 120gb ssd. i opted not to have an OS because i have an installer and valid key for win 7. My question is are all the necessary updated drivers i needed is on the sager website? specially for 580m and SSD. because coming from asus brand i usually download the updated drivers of g73jh to ROG site specifically to chastity's page. any helpful links is very much appreciated.
    thanks!

Hey - I received my Mythlogic Pollux 1611 just recently - yet another happy Clevo P150HM owner. Really like the Matte screen (V1 - not 95% gamut).

What I did not like: taking off all that protection plastic - it's great it's there, but it kept breaking apart tearing it off. Still - hugely impressed so far moving from a Gateway P7811FX.

Interestingly - my shell box came with a factory note on it: 'Eurocom' - must have been for them and then resold to Mythlogic. Interesting ;)

Eurocom is a system integrator as well as a distributor. Myth simply bought the shell from them.

Ok, I have used my P150 for a while now, and I cannot fathom why my connection speeds are so slow. With my 5 year old laptop I have no problem whatsoever connecting to our D-Link DIR 655, but with this one equipped with an Intel 6230 I can hardly watch youtube videos anymore. I'm better off USB tethering my cell phone really. Really disappointed with this. Does the motherboard have a built-in wireless networking card? I presume that I would be better off using that one instead. Or are there any super-special drivers that will magically fix my connection problems?

You might want to try some tweaks to speed up the N performance, namely going to control panel > network and sharing center > network connections > right click wireless, properties > configure > advanced. Set the channel width to auto for both 2.4 and 5.2 and set wireless power to maximum.

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling drivers as well. Also, no, the only wireless on the machine is the wireless card.

I just ordered a sager NP8150 which cost me 2.8K upon customizing it. Wiring a $2.8K from Philippines to a company i haven't seen is a very very huge risk for me. Its like taking a leap of faith! But "Larry" has been very patience and true to all my inquiries through emails, which makes me feel comfortable that i will be getting what i paid for. Also Larry is very flexible in adjusting the total cost to meet your budget. I've been shooting emails to other resellers like xoticpc and gentech but Larry gave me the best price specially in shipping rates. Dont get me wrong, xoticpc and gentech are premium resellers and offer quality service too. The biggest factor for me is that Larry replies quick and constantly to all my emails. This is a very big plus to me. My package is already in transit(to Riyadh where I'm currently deployed) and I'm confident that it will be in A++ condition.

To all consumer that ordering from international don't hesitate to contact Larry, and he will surely deliver.

And one more thing i originally ordered glossy screen 95% gamut which that time is $45 upgrade(and the matte cost $95), but the sager put 95% gamut matte type and larry ask me if its ok to me. Well of course! its a free upgrade!

dayum, those temps are definitely serious! have u tried propping up the laptops back by shoving something beneath it? that reduced my temps by like 20 degrees, especially during load / gaming! and make sure the heatsink is firmly in place with all the screws tightened up as far as possible (without damaging them or the card, of course :p)

    keep us updated!

Guys I know this has been discussed before but I am looking for a good cooler to chill my 8150 :).
I know Cryo LX is the recommended one but I can't seem to find it anywhere!!! (Europe).
Anyone out there having the Enermax Aeolus Premium cooler? Looks interesting... would be any good for a 8150?
    thanks!

    Hello.

What kind of heatsink do you have in your P150HM?
    I want 2x 4GB 1600MHz

RJTech sell it with Patriot or Supertalent, depends on their stock. It looks like Supertalent have own heatsinks on their memory modules.
I was thinking of buying Kingston...

erg... If someone could help me out I'd be delighted. My gpu(6970m) couple of days ago started hitting 95~100 degrees, and is continueing to do so after about a couple minutes of gameplay. Not only that the GPU seems to be acting a little slow lately, and what I mean by that is that the GPU seems to be getting lower frame rates then usual. I mean sure the summer heat sucks but its fairly room temperature within the room I use it in. Should I be concerned about this matter or should I use the warranty to get this fixed?

If you're hitting 95-100C, I would contact your reseller. Those temps are high (and would explain why it's slow- it's probably downclocking once it hits those temps). At the very least, contact your reseller and ask their advice on it. Repasting the heat sinks yourself is an option to try if you don't want to send it in.

I've sent them an email, but I'd like to try re-pasting it first, a couple of questions about it:

First time doing it, are there any ways to screw it up? Or better yet could someone give me a link to a step by step of it?

My local computer store seems to have some thermal pastes, for instance the Arctic Silver 5, Arctic Cooling Arctic MX-4, and the Arctic Silver Matrix. Which should I use or buy that's the most efficient?

How much should I buy? Most come in 2.5 gram packs and then theres the 12 gram packs, should I go big or small?

Go small. 2.5 grams is more than you will need. Save what is left in case you want to do it again.

anyone here has issues with their usb 3.0 port ?
it always occurred to me during transferring that the port would come to a complete halt and eventually require a restart to make it work
during the process it might even make some of my apps hang
    any ideas guys ?

Went by the local store today and purchased an arcticleaner and Arctic MX-4, (apparently Arctic silver 5 isnt good for pasting gpus?) Anyhow, I never thought that re-pasting would have this great of an impact but it went from 95~100 to about 75~85.

Yeah nope, didn't fix it lol. I thought it did, but after testing a couple of games it slowly rose from 85~95. Althought it didn't go over 95 majority of the time, 90+ is still a pretty bad temperature to hover around.

Sending it back for repairs some time soon. Just sucks its around summer time that it occurred in.

finally i received my laptop 2 days ago, i swapped the 500gb momentus for a 120gb intel ssd 510, this is the fastest computer i have ever owned, and by far the most stable, windows 7 boots on 30 seconds or so, i can play crysis 2 on
ultra with full patches and everything and other games also (got the 580m), so far loving it, only issue is with avira free antivirus, detects ccdpatch.exe from hotkey as a trojan, any ideas, is this a real trojan?
