i just ran a full scan and also detects btreg.exe file as a virus, i uploaded both to virustotal, ccdpatch gets detected by 4 antivirus programs as a trojan btreg doesnt get detected by any, both come from hotkey utility

is this a file that came stock from your reseller? if it is chances are thats a fals positive.

but if you really want to be extra careful, contact your reseller and send them the file for analysis.

are we talking about the hotkey stock app here which is used to change the powersaving/performance settings? if so, i got the same problem with my avira antivir. i just put the file on my exception list, since i highly doubt that such a program would carry any malware ;)

    cheers

Antivir picked up ccdpatch.exe also. Did the same thing and added to the exception list. Funny it didn't detect it until yesterday and I've had this laptop for weeks.

BIOS update *might* have fixed the USB 3.0 problem. I'm still testing it along with the fan problem I had.

Is this a newer BIOS than the one that's posted in the thread in the main Sager/Clevo forum?

I've noticed the same issue of my USB enclosure dropping for no obvious reason. It seems to be an incompatibility between the NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 chipset the JMicron chipset many such enclosures use.

At the same time, I've been able to track down a firmware updates for the enclosure. I installed it (took about 2 seconds and a power cycle of the external drive), and everything seems to be OK. I've done the following with no disconnects: 1) Back up some of my Steam games (about 25 GB worth), 2) Run a few CrystalDiskMark benches on the 2 GB file size setting, and 3) Defragment the drive.

My external enclosure is from SunBeamTech, and the firmware I'm using is this one.

    Sager sent me bios 815bv08s.

On second thought though, it may be the new USB 3.0 driver that fixed the problem. You can find it on the drivers page. Here's the BIOS and EC sager sent me for my fan problem.

Also, if my graphics card hit 97C while playing borderlands, should I consider re-pasting?

Quick update on the USB 3.0 issue, I picked up a new enclosure that doesn't use a JMicron chipset - the SIIG JU-SA0A12-S1. Not only have I had no random disconnects so far, the new enclosure has given a 20% speed boost in read and write speeds.

hi guys is anyone here already had an experience in sending a package through USPS to saudi arabia? I ask this because i ordered 8150 and from the tracking information the package is already here for about 3-4 days now. I still have not received a notification in my friend's P.O box(I'm not permanent here so i have to address it to my friend) on where to claim the package. I cant call USPS also because they don't have local number here unlike UPS. I cant contact the post office here also because they are only have arabic customer service(and dont know how to speak it). I wanna know how long it will take the local post office here to process my item. thanks.

    Hey guys.

What power cable do the power adapter use?

3-pole or 2-pole? (the one inserted to adapter). Picture is showing 3-pole and with EU-plug.

I'm pretty sure it's the 3-pole that can also be inserted into a desktop PSU. Also the plug for a PS3.

Yep, that's the right one. It's the one plug that most electronics/computer hobbyists tend to have rather large numbers of laying around (I've got a box at home full of them from one source or another) :D

hi guys would someone care to give me the link in optimizing the witcher 2, to be able to play in ultra settings. I just got the 580M but it is still being killed at Ultra settings. i managed to run it decently (30-36fps) at high with uber off, motion blur off and blur effects off. Is that normal FPS for 580M?

    thanks.

although i dont have the game, ive read that it a brute. chances are you wont be able to run it on a single mobile gpu with ubersampling at max.

also, you may want to wait for the next driver release that could have some better optimizations for tw2.

    good luck.

Do you download drivers from CLEVO - Download ?

Can I download the newest drivers from nvidia.com?

Do I need to install IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) and Intel MEI?
Is the drivers for Intel 6230 these: Combo_I.zip ?

Those that have the 580M in this model and the other Clevo-Sager models need to be patient please. The drivers (26849) that are on the driver CD and on Clevo's website are not the best for benching and the like.

Certified drivers should be coming out soon. :)

I'm going to ask this dumb question again which i ask multiple time but how is the 485m?

If you had the choice, you would wait a month more to upgrade it to the 6990m for less cost or keep your 485m? 6990m is better than 485m that for sure.

    Thanks (please don't flame me :D )

I would wait for the 6990m. But that's just me. If you need a something in a hurry or are impatient, then go for the 485m.

yup, agreed. on the other hand, if u already have a 485m like me its not really worth the upgrade since the 6990m would only be like 10% faster than a OCed 485m ;)

Problem is there is no release date when the resellers will get them and without any news, it make it harder to wait. What if it more than a month?

How much better is the 6990m to the 485m? Does 10 to 15% faster really make a difference in gaming? How much more fps is that?

Did you not learn basic math in school?

    30 fps + 10% = 33 fps
    30 fps + 15% = 34.5 fps
    60 fps + 10% = 66 fps
    60 fps + 15% = 69 fps

    And so on.

Do the math yourself. If you get 60fps and add 10%, how many fps do you get? :)

EDIT: too late, but I think my post is more pedagogic correct :)

That actually not a lot at all. 6990m is not that much better than the 485m then. Yet how come some game the 6990m have a 72fps while the 485m have like a 52 fps?

    Or is that a lot?

I don't have a optical drive in my P150HM. Can I connect my external DVDRW and install Windows 7 from it? Will bios recognize the external DVDRW?

that should work without a problem. the BIOS supports boot-up from external devices connected via USB, including optical drives, thumb drives or external HDDs. just make sure u set up the boot sequence correctly.

I'm pretty sure the 6990m is more like 15-20% faster than a stock 485m. Considering Nvidia's claims of the 580m being 10-15% faster than a 485m. It may not seem like much but if you can overclock a 6990m as much as i've been able to with a 6970m, the 6990m would be worth it.

yup, thats what i stated before, just that i was referring to an OCed 485m ^^ stock performance would be like:

    485M + 8-10% = 580M
580M + ~10% = 6990M (preliminary suggestion, based on the numbers we got from downclocked desktop 6870)

    and OCed 485M = stock 580M :p

    cheers

Here's a link to the service manual. It's useful if you plan to upgrade the hard drive, replace the optical drive with a HDD caddy, change RAM, and so forth. This document applies to both the Sager NP8130 (P151HM1) and NP8150 (P150HM).

Hello there. I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster. I just got my Sager np8150 last week, and I'm really loving it. I've owned several notebook, and this was the most satisfying yet.

I do have a question, though. I'm running the stock windows 7 x64 (home premium), and The power icon in the taskbar won't show the estimate time remaining of battery life. is this normal? It was like this out of the box, so i don't really have an idea about what's going on with it. I know windows' battery life prediction is inaccurate, but still, it's kinda nice to have. Do I really need to install something like batterybar to show the remaining battery life (I prefer not to, if at all possible)?

I think windows estimates battery life by building up data as to how long it has lasted before (at a certain charge level), how long it has taken to charge, etc. I think if you deplete and charge the battery a few times windows will build up enough data to correctly estimate the battery life. I've experienced the same thing with my battery but I've never had it unplugged for more than 10 minutes yet :p

Actually the Windows 7 battery thingamajic requires special circuitry which Clevo laptops don't seem to have. You'll have better luck with 3rd party applications such as Battery Bar which builds profiles of your battery to estimate the remaining time.
