you need to register the THX software first. usually, if the OS and drivers were installed by Sager, there should be an Register THX icon on the desktop.

    Hmmm.

I can't play BF3 Beta because I don't have the newest drivers. I have downloaded from nvidia.com but they won't get installed :(

    Thanks!
Is it safe to use? :)
When I had ATI I used "mobility modder" so that I could use the newest catalyst drivers. Isn't there a program like that for NVIDIA`?

There is a free mini-pcie slot just by the battery pack. What can that be used for?

Not necessary with those drivers. Just download, uninstall your existing drivers, reboot, install the new ones, reboot again. Simple. :)

anyone having problem with their webcam color quality? the video of my cam when i'm using YM is very poor. i have seen some HP and asus laptop with 2MP cam and their picture quality is passable compared to my NP8150 now. I mean even though i tweak the video capture in bison cam i just cant see any combination that will improve the quality.

is there already an updated driver or any driver that can improve it?

    thanks.

Question: Would any of you that have an 8150/P150HM, if you could place your order again, bump up to an 8170/P170HM?

Thankfully, no. I was a bit nervous going from my previous three 17" systems to the 15.6", but I am really glad I made the decision. The smaller footprint and lighter weight has been well worth the trade off for me.

Thanks for the responses fellas. Have some rep! :) I don't mind waiting 2 weeks or so for my laptop with the 6990 to ship. What kills me is that during this waiting period, my brain gets overactive and starts second guessing my build specs and decision to go with the P150HM over the P170HM.

I'm going to stick with my build. The only thing I might change is purchasing an SSD and of course gettng an external burner.

I love the P150HM form factor/weight. The only thing was that I had to use large icons and increase the font size... this was my first FHD screen.

Apparently FurMark has some issues with nVidia GPUs and could potentially damage hardware, you might want to check out some postings before using it on your laptops.

I have run furmark more than i should, with arctic silver 5, ceramique 2 and yesterday with ICD 7. I usually run the program for 1 min, 4 mins and 8 mins, i don't keep it going for 20 or 30 mins as others may say. Results are lower when the laptop is cold and higher when it runs for hours. ICD 7 manages to keep 1-2 degrees lower than the other 2 pastes, which is translated to 8-9 degrees when it comes to games. For example, when laptop is hot and have been used for 2-3 hours, 8 mins of furmark can raise temp to 93 oC. Room temp 31-32 oC.

Could someone please run cpu benchmark with Passmark Performance test?
I have a i7-2720QM ES CPU (engineering sample) and I would like to compare it with a stock i7-2720QM. The test only takes 1-2 minutes. I get 7000 points.

But a guy with MSI laptop told me he got 7800 points with the same cpu...

Hope another person with a 2720qm can chime in.

Why did you get an ES 2720qm?.. ES's price gaps are minimal, why didn't you opt for the 2820?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I'm looking for a good work / gaming laptop. The key is that I need a laptop that is whisper quiet in the many meetings I attend. Co-workers would not appreciate fan noise. For common everyday non-gaming, non-video applications such as word, excel, etc... how would you describe this laptop's noise level?

And for basic functions listed above, does the keyboard stay cool? I only ask because I've had other laptops that get a little warm and made my hands sweat :)

    Many thanks!!!

If noise is a concern this is definitely not your laptop. Although it's not "loud" for everyday uses, the noise will definitely be audible in a conference or classroom environment. The fan will almost always be on even when idle unless your ambient temperature is ice cold.

The chassis in general stays cool. You won't feel any heat on the keyboard or palm rest.

    Hi.

I'm having a problem with laptop speaker. It seems like the left one release slightly low volume compared to right one, and make the sound distribution imbalance. There's no problem with the sound software, all channels centered.

    Any reason to that?

How noisy is this laptop for regular use? I am coming from Envy 14 which is acceptably noisy, but stays cool. Also is 95% gamut screen comparable to Radiance on Envy in terms of brightness and colors?
