Hey Guys, Was curious to know whether adding ram in the slots under the keyboard void any sort of warranty as the manual states : NON USER upgradable.

( Im in Australia so the reseller I got from uses shells direct from clevo - if that matters )

    thanks

Depends how game you are really :D

but seriously you might need to check you warranty info or email the reseller.
I got mine from here in Aus too. Never cared to much for warranty but i suppose if you upgrade it and then remove it before warranty i dont see an issue with you doing that.

Check with your reseller. It shouldn't void your warranty, though they may have their own policy. Obviously the warranty won't cover the RAM you add, but as long as you don't break anything you should still be covered on the machine itself.

Just received my P150HM, and I have a question. I ordered mine with the HD caddy instead of the optical drive. I'm trying to install a secondary drive in the bay and I don't know how to open it. Do I just yank it out?

Anybody know how to unscrew a "stripped" screw?

I need to repaste, but I can't unscrew because it will not clutch the driver, and I can't unscrew it...

    Any help?

If that doesn't work, you can try one of the drill bits specifically made for removing stripped screws. They dig in to the screw and get grip when a screwdriver won't. Alternatively, use a dremel to make it a flat head screw :D

Or worst case scenario, using a drill and drilling it out (definitely not a great idea if you haven't tried everything else)

    Haha, I'd try brute force,

but the thing is that it is one of the GFX card heatsink screws..

So I have to be very, very gentle..

    That happened to me once,

try resetting the CMOS by pulling out the battery, the power cord,

and draining the power by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.

    Then turn it back on,

    it worked for me.

    Hey guys

I got my notebook! It does have the Malibal name below the LCD screen but it is crooked? I don't know why some have the name underneath the LCD and other don't, would love for Malibal to chime in.

I have a few questions, cause it somewhat overwhelming for me.

    1. Do I do the system preparation tool 3.14 - enter system out of the box experience (OOBE)?

    2. Do I install the driver disk that come with the notebook or is my system already install with it. I have no trouble accessing sound or internet, etc...

    3. Where can I find all the system information. I can't see my 580m anywhere.

    4. Should I and do I need to upgrade to the latest Nvidia Driver?

    5. Does anyone here use the fingerprint reader? Does it ever fail to read and prevent you from accessing? That my only fear, it is a neat feature though.

    6. Where is the option driver (button) on the notebook, I need it for the THX TruStudio Pro AP

    7. What does discharge mean. It said on the manual to fully discharge before charging it.

    8. What free virus protection do I used? I cannot find that thread where someone ask the same thing and there were answer.

    9. What bloatware should I delete from my computer. I don't know which is bloatware and which is not. Malibal install for me heaven benchmark, CPUID HWMonitor, Furmark, 3DMarkVantage, 3DMark 06, 3D Mark 11. I have something call Kevin and Kevin 2 test. A little worry my temperature was 97c or something on those test and average fps of the 580m was 17fps so I don't know.

Lastly are there any other things I need to do?

    Thanks

I can answer some for ya.

    2) If you already opted for Windows 7 within your system, then I assume that Malibal has already installed the drivers and software for you.

    3) Try Device Manager by right clicking on My Computer -> Properties. Or you could right click on the desktop, and enter the Nvidia Control Panel.

    4) Usually it's recommended to update your drivers; newer drivers are better optimised for newer games, and may rake you higher performance.

    5) I don't have a fingerprint reader sadly... :D.

    6) Care to reexplain this one? Did you mean you want to install the THX Studio program? It should be in the driver CD provided.

    7) Discharge would mean by draining the battery then charging in back up.

    8) Try avast AntiVirus. It's pretty decent.

    9) The softwares you just mentioned are benchmark softwares. Kinda like pushing your laptop to the limit to see its performance; which is why your GPU rose up to 97C.

Your last question, seems like Malibal has done everything for you so it should be fine. :)

As in, you have it in your hands right now? If so, that means you also got a 180W PSU so you can upgrade the GPU in the future!

Yeah, I have it right now. When I got the box, it said P150HM, and I thought it was a typo. But then I saw the 180W power supply. But for me, what really made me happy about this accident was the rubberized finish, it really looks and feels great.

You can now overclock the 2960xm! no longer are you limited to "stock clocks", but now either thru XTU or the BIOS, you can overclock that CPU for more performance.

This is correct, you'd need at least the HM67 such as found in the P170HM for any overclocking. This also assumes the CPU you choose supports it as well :)

Looking at the underside of this laptop I am left wondering why clevo decided to put vent holes under the cpu and not any under the gpu....... Just seems like if one is a good idea two is better. The gpu even has a much larger fan, if anything needs more venting it's this.

Sorry just expressing my confusion. You know I would buy a new cover if it came with factory venting holes under the gpu. Someone make it please.

Um...what are you talking about? There are vent holes under the CPU and GPU. Could you post a picture of your laptop?

If you placed the laptop upside down with the screen hinge on the top and the opening of the lid pointing towards you, the upper two (left and right) corners should have gigantic "grilles", or vents, one for the CPU and one for the GPU.

Ahhhhhh, I can't decide on whether to place an order on a NP8150 tonight. I want the labor day deal, but haven't made a definite decision on what I want. I'm mostly concerned on the screen still. I wish I could see it. I'm afraid I won't be happy with it. I'm in love with the screen on the Sony Vaio and on notebookcheck.net

The 15.6" 95% gamut matte screen looks like this:
    Maximum: 236 cd/m²
    Average: 217.9 cd/m²
    Brightness Distribution: 87 %
    Center on Battery: 236 cd/m²
    Black: 0.36 cd/m²

while the 16.4" matte Sony Vaio looks like this:
    Maximum: 324 cd/m²
    Average: 285.9 cd/m²
    Brightness Distribution: 75 %
    Center on Battery: 272 cd/m²
    Black: 0.27 cd/m²
    Contrast: 1007:1

I've only seen the Sony but it looks like a glossy screen to me w/ out the reflection. I really want the the size of the Sager instead of the 16.4 and definitely the 6990 over the GTX 540 that the Sony offer. I just don't know :( I know I have the Sager return policy, but that will still cost me shipping to and from if I decide to return.

I placed my order with MALIBAL yesterday and am waiting for banks to open to pay for it so they can start working on it already :) I sound a bit excited.

After reading so many reviews/testimonies and asking so many questions, I think I will be more than happy with the P150HM when it gets here.

I know the cooling works what I want is for it to be better. If the vents were there I could put one of my laptop cooler's fans right below it and probably drop a few C, it works for the cpu I know that.

Which screen did you end up with? I ended up placing an order....but still not sure about it :(. I wouldn't be as worried about it if I didn't see how great this Sony screen is next to other screens. The Asus external monitor I just picked up had great reviews and then I hook it up and it looks like terrible next to it so it just worries me. I placed an order for the matte even though I've notoriously liked glossy screens. This Sony is a matte screen (though it looks glossy) which gives me hope.

What is it you like most in a screen? Color gamut is the main selling point for the 95% upgraded screens, though they aren't too shabby on brightness or contrast either. You may also want to calibrate the screen after you receive it to match it to your lighting conditions before it's truly optimal.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you went with the upgraded screen though :) (As I've linked to before, most review sites cite it as being one of the nicest screens they've come across)

Thinking of getting one! How does the 8150 feel like compared to the 8130? I currently have a lenovo, but the plastic quality is rather bad and I have some broken sections near the joints that make it rather rickety.

The rubbery finish means that yes, it collects dust more easily. If you do not want that, you're going to have to settle with the 8130 and a GTX560M, which to be honest satisfies all but the most hardcore gamers out there.

I have seen one user on these forums purchase a brand-new 8130 (aka P151HM) from Malibal that had an AMD Radeon 6990M + 180W PSU, but most sellers will not do that because of warranty issues. I think you will be able to work something like this out with Malibal and/or Mythlogic because they are not Sager resellers, and as such have their own warranty policies.

Most users would prefer the feel of the 8150 to the 8130, if we're basing the comparison on aesthetics. The rubberized finish really gives the machine a classy, luxury look.

    Hi,

I am planning to buy a 150HM model with this card,I am a bit worried about the graphic card heating though. Can some one who owns this model confirm if they are having any issue with this model?and if they have a notebook cooler/extra cooling paste applied.

    I'm deciding between the GT683DXR - with the 570m or the NP8150 (Either 560m or 485m)

How is the performance difference between the 485m and 570m? and how is the power consumption between 485m and 570m? Will I get much better battery life from 570m?

Will np8150 have 570m as an option in the future? (would make my decision easier since I prefer the aesthetics of the Sager over MSI)
