Hi guys! glad i found this owners lounge. i have been thinking of buying a CLEVO P775TM1 (or Octane IV 17.2" inch model) from PC specialist UK . I would be getting it with a 1060 and an 8700k. I have come here to request some guidance from anyone who has experience with this laptop in a NON gaming situation. IDEALLY music/audio production (but ANY other non gaming experiences shared very much appreciated). If i undervolt the cpu by 100/150mv and choose the best thermal paste option and use a good notebook cooler. With stock clock turbo boost of 4.3ghz (do not need overclock) can i expect that the laptop will stay under 80 degrees in a audio workstation or rendering situation (heavy load with fans on 80 percent or so). If not what temperatures can i expect.

Please feel free to advise me on whats what even if you do use this laptop for gaming. I do want to note that i am very much a novice in this world so i dont particularly want to be delidding etc but undervolting seems easy enough and everyone seems to recommend it with these laptops.

    Thankyou :)

I don't use my P775TM1-G for gaming much. Mine is with a 8700K processor and GTX1080.

I keep my internal fans on auto and the laptop sits on a Cooler Master NotePal U3 Plus and 2 x Opolar LC05 Vaccum fans at the back.

Processor is delidded, repasted and runs at 4.8Ghz with an undervolt of -200mv and occasionally touches 80C on full load..most of the time it stays between 75C-77C on full load.

Hey man thanks for the quick response. Honestly at 4.8ghz that sounds like a beast! Awesome temps and still portable. For me that is promising. I also just realized that obsidian pc are european, therefore shipping to uk isnt crazy. They offer a delidding option so i may alter and purchase with them instead

Are there any issues or long term risks with delidding?

Also how much difference do the two opolar vacuums make? Ill certainly be getting a notebook cooler but are they also worth the purchase. Ie do they have better performance for less noise than if i was to turn the internal fans up more?

Delidding keeps your processor cool by making better contact with the heat sink which prolongs your processor life so nothing to worry about as long as good paste is used.

None of the cooling pads really push a lot of air in the laptop air intakes unless you mod with a more powerful fan. Opolar is one of those cooling accessories which really work and I would recommend Opolar vacuums first and then a cooling pad. The internal fans and Opolar both make a lot of noise so there is no escape from it if you want good cooling. You can get a noise cancelling headphone if it really bugs you that much.

In terms of temps how much of a difference does delidding make?

Yeah i see what your saying. Id probably run my clocks at stock to keep temps down and thus fan noise down. It depends how loud it really is. I dont mind it quite loud but if its absolutey ridiculous it will interfere when producing/making music.

my processor was hitting 90C+ before and after delidding it stays under 80C on max load (between 75C-77C) at 4.8Ghz and -200mv undervolt. At 4.3Ghz and -100/-150mv it should be cool even without a delid but better get it done at the time of purchase if you cant do it later yourself.

They said the 4k screen not g-sync licensed.
But i read on lot of websites that "B173ZAN01.0 - AUO - 60Hz" IS g-sync licensed
So i think they are not aware of these issues ...
Anyone got this same problem ?

    Hello again community
Regarding my CCC problem in the GPU tab (that it´s frizzed like i posted before) i didn´t solve this one yet...any ideas?
Regarding the cooling system, what about making this https://adrenaline.uol.com.br/forum...m-10c-as-temperaturas-do-seu-notebook.556818/ with this https://www.3m.com.pt/3M/pt_PT/scot...nio-425-da-3M/?N=5472880+3293241744&rt=rudfor for cooling down?
I´m talking again about this cause my GPU is working at 80 to 90º when i play or do some mining...., isn´t it too much? i saw this with MSI Afterburner, but even undervolting memory and gpu to the minimum possible, the temp maintains at 83º, blowing as hell....is this normal?
I´m really thinking on that aluminium tape idea if it brings me minus 10º

I managed to get mine to stick around 83c in a game of pubg. Replaced thermal pads and did the paperclip mod. I am starting to wonder if it is just pubg tho. In every other game it stays at low 70s. Anybody else play?

I think your GPU does not support G-Sync, your screen does support G-Sync. Does your serial number have a 'G' in it?

Everywhere i look there is no "G" except on the Bill ...
Except everywhere i look it doesn't seem that a P775TM1 model exist.
    Only P775TM1-G and P775TM-G ... but no P775TM1 only ...

Just done the clip mod on mine P775TM1G......it improved 2º, nothing that is significant.....but i don´t know why, when he starts heating in less than 1 minute the system freezes, so i remove everything and it´s fine for now....it´s better not to do this mod on this laptop.......i only put more thermal paste on the GPU, but also no effect on that, i got 83, 84º as it was, with the CPU at 60º, but no more freezing after he begins throttling......i just hope i don´t lose any warranty after this....

If the model does not ship with g-sync it's likely the GPU mxm board is not certified.

Was looking at an HIDevolution P775TM1, was wondering about RAM... when would I want 32GB (or 64) vs 16GB? I mainly watch movies and play things like WoW, GW2 and some Steam games (currently Doom 2016). I don't do much Photography editing on the laptop, as I have a desktop dedicated to it.

Also, is there a 2.5" sata slot available that's under the back cover and easy to get to? or would i need to take the MB out to get to other side.

    Thank you

    16GB is enough

You just need to remove the back cover to access storage

We are still at the point where if you need more than 16GB you would know, if you are unsure then 16GB is plenty.

Even 8GB will work for many scenarios, but 16GB is definitely the sweet spot with a buffer in most cases.

Is P775TM1 and P775TM1-G are two différents models ? Or just the same with the "-g" being omitted ?
Because i have the P775TM1 version ans i begin to believe that it's my g-sync problem ...

Not internal g-sync no, you can still use an external panel of course. There is no activating internal g-sync on your model.

But the screen needs to be G-synct for it to work on external

From 2 monitors bought, and planning a third, none has it. It seems like a kitsch that is found only on a very narrow variety of monitors

I received few days ago new P775TM1 with i5-8600K and gtx 1060. My problem is about locking CPU on all cores, for example on standard 4,3Ghz. I set it in bios and uV -100 but when i run occt and temperature reaches 75-80degrees, the core clock starts to drop below 4.3ghz, even to 3,7 - 3,8 Ghz in long run. What is going on?

On my previous P775DM it was solid as a rock :p. I know that I had Prema bios in my old model, but few members of forum wrote about thier OC on TM version and they didnt say anything about droping cores.

Yep, 95W is not enough for full 12 thread load turbo at max clocks.

    That's how turbo works.

External panels have a chip built in that manage the frame timings with the GPU yes, so the panel has to be a G-sync panel to have the chip.

The .0 screen has what is being called the "banding issue" which most people find not much of an issue at normal viewing distance. The .4 screen does not have this issue, but it also does not support G-Sync.

I can tell you that since we started offering the .4 screen as an upgrade, 90% of our systems are still sold with the .0 screen.

email me at [email protected] if you want more information.

Set short TDP to 180000, long to 220000 and VR limit to 900 and you should be good with the 1060 until a certain point even without Prema Mod. For CPU intense tasks like Cinebench you should be able to hold around 4.6Ghz for a run on all cores before it throttles.

    SSD, Slot 1:
    WD Blue M.2 250GB
    Hard Disk Drive:
    1TB (5400rpm)

    My questions are:
    1. What should I be checking before I leave the store with the laptop?
    2. Do I benchmark it? If yes, then what benchmarks do I use?
    Thank you very much.

Ok, so after applying the thermal compound on the GPU & CPU, i also applied a thin layer on the copper conductor making a square like the GPU and CPU.
When i plug it in i get a fright, cause he was just turning the power light on and off automatically......so i remove the CPU screws, take the conductor out, take the CPU out and just put it back again with no changes, now it´s working and until now without a problem.
So to push up for the GPU and CPU, i start nicehash miner; here with the notebook just standing normally on the desk, i got 84º on the GPU, and between 60 to 70º on the CPU; so i lift the notebook up, with some wood squares standing on the rubber bases, and it immediately dropped from 84º on the GPU to 79º, hovering between 81 and 79º, maintaining a steady 80º to 81º after mining for 30 minutes; regarding the CPU i get it hovering between 63 to 64º. If i do something else, like having "Edge" open with 20 tabs, the temp rises to 82º on the GPU and 68º on the CPU; the fan speed maintains the massive blowing throttling (i guess i have to get used to it....)
In conclusion, between the thermal compound that he brings from the factory and this one, you can get 1 or 2º less with the thermal grizzly and considering that lifting up the laptop get´s you minus 3 to 4º, i guess that buying an external cooler wouldn´t be such a bad idea.
Now the problem is choosing the best quiet cooler, cause this notebook really needs to be lifted from the table.
So after all this what are your verdict? wich cooler should i choose?what are your opinions?

To be honest, I expected more from LM, and think that just small stands is enough, no need another noise source. o_O Maybe @Mr. Fox can help with choose quiet laptop cooler.

So did i.....i´m suspecting that i shouldn´t put it on the cooper collers.......i don´t know if i open it again and remove that one from there only.......any ideas? could this be a problem?....i notice that the CPU is more hot, could it be because of this?....i´m just browsing and i have around 40º to 43º on CPU and a solid 40º on the GPU...

If you want a cooler laptop that performs well and/or running overclocked, noise is unavoidable. A quiet laptop is either running slowly or overheating, or both. The only laptop that I can recommend purchasing is the only one I would actually consider for myself at this point. That would be a P870 with vapor chamber. I cannot recommend anything else because I would not consider anything else to be an acceptable option for myself.
