this scenario makes no sense. first of all the current system mxm3.0b is able to absorb up to 120w more over, thanks to the auxiliary power supply, it can be covered by more than a sufficient Eurocom 250w for any future data sheet. investing in a new standard, in my opinion, makes sense only if you want to leave the auxiliary connector (ie only the main mxm would be sufficient if it supplied more power). This scenario would be .... more realistic. Even from a purely bandwidth point of view the current system does not saturate the best pascals (at least a single card). In my opinion we will not see a mxm4 so early and I doubt it is ready on the new architecture. One thing is certain. if we have the new standard with the new cards, probably we will not have the support for the dmx and tm models and at that point I will definitely abandon the notebook to go to a mini-itx. but the next cards are sure that they will be compatible with current notebooks and will retain the mxm 3.0b connector.

Still tinkering with that because I want good RAM sticks, but they are not very compatible with my picked cooler...

Power supply is Corsair SF600, Tier 1 PSU, 600W, SFX (Needs to be SFX and not SFX-L becauise otherwise the cables can be too bent)

    I want those sticks

    This motherboard

    And I wanted This Cooler

    http://www.shop4pc.ro/cooler-cpu-noctua-nhl9x65-p-43375.html

    Or this one

    https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7034/cryorig-c1-cpu-cooler-review/index.html

But I don't know if they will clear the RAM, or if any of those coolers can cool a 8700K

    Also, 8700K + 1080ti right now, if 1080 doesn't get here sooner

Your temps for a 1060 seem rather high for a Time Spy run.

I topped out at 57c on my 775DM3 with rear elevation, no cooling pad. Even when I had my former 1080, it wouldn't break ~67.

    8700K at 4.5 GHz + 1080ti shouldn't go beyond 600W I think (?)

At least I won't be overclocking thart much and very rarely have load on both CPU and GPU to matter.

At the very least, I don't think I will be able to get a strong enough cooler for 8700K in an iTX to cool it properly, so I think that I won't go beyond 600W ever. Clevo does just fine with 330W and they have both 8700K and 1080, so I doubt that will be the biggest issue.

My biggest current issue is that the RAM and CPU cooler might not be fully compatible and that I'll need to carry this more than once, so I do not know how to best handle that

600w is plenty even if you water cooled it and power unlocked everything. You will have some spare room.

    Thank you :)

This one PSU is the best Tier 1 PSU that would fit that build.

I don't know if a Wate Cooling for the CPU would fit in that case, nor if it would be a good option for transport, as I have to carry this

But I have the feeling that a water cooling CPU cooler might be much more reliable for transport than having a ~600grams cooler tied to the motherboard :)

I'll change my option to researching water cooling for the CPU then...

I actually ran that PSU for a bit (in my dock powering the laptop and Titan X Maxwell), it's a nice unit for sure. All bigger capacities are sfx-l.

Okay, so following @Meaker@Sager 's advice

I'm mostly considering a Corsair H55 cooler with a single Prolimatech slim 140mm fan instead of the default fan

The main reason would be because H55 seems to have slimmer and easier to bend cables than all other single 120mm water cooling blocks.

    http://www.shop4pc.ro/ventilator-140-mm-prolimatech-ultra-sleek-vortex-14-p-37719.html

    https://www.pcgarage.ro/coolere/corsair/hydro-series-h55/

This means that I get to keep the uber RAM I identified earlier,

    https://www.pcgarage.ro/memorii/gskill/ripjaws-v-32gb-ddr4-3200mhz-cl14-135v-dual-channel-kit/

So most of the build at this point would be ordering the components, and actually putting them together with what is mostly fingers that are thick as german sausages (?)

I have questions still, like cables, if I need any aftermarket cables besides the one that came with that PSU, minding that most aftermarket PSU cables are around the same price as that PSU, or PWM fan hubs, but I guess I'll sort that out when I get there.

Anyone has more advice to give me? :)

To recap, the whole point is to make a portable iTX, something I can carry like a Clevo P870TM1, albeit thicker.

I don't want to make a large desktop build, I need the most portable thing I can create, it needs to fit a laptop sidebag, or a backpack, nothing bigger would do

Availability of them is very scarce in Romania and I think I'll do with what I can get (?)

600W will be plenty.... 1080 Ti + 1800X pulled 340W from wall full load, Single 980Ti and 5960X (4.8GHz) pulled around 370W from the wall at load...I only broke 600W with 980 Ti in SLI. I have a SFX rig with a 500w enermax SFX powering 1080 ti hybrid + 1800x stock for now and shes been totally fine. High watt psus are dead unless you want to be at the peak efficiency curve which is pointless.

I want a P750TM1/P775TM1 so bad! The 25% off sure is tempting.

I finally get my money 02/20/18! And im ready to order a laptop.

And then i start drooling over SUPER SLEEK thin Max Q laptops. Like the, Zephyrus and the Acer Triton 700.

With there all metal construction, and ultra thin bodies... im so confused! And overkill 1080P performance..even if it is slower than a desktop version. You cannot feel the difference in a game stock vs stock.

But hey, I wouldnt mind building a X399 Threadripper too! Custom loop, and push 4.2Ghz on a 1920X. And a Vega 64 FE on water..

    So many choices!

Ive found a Asus Zephyrus with gtx 1070 for $1,699.
The asus maxQ 1070 is only 10% slower than there maxQ 1080. And uses the same 230 watt adapter, so it overclocks to similar levels.

    I dunno what i want...haha.

I really want a thin, and light with powerful 1080p Gsync gameplay.

But i want a P750 to! Some one help.. im so torn

    I can build a Alienware aorua desktop with SLI gtx1070 Ti's and a i7 8700 for $1,675 with 10% off promotion

Theres alot of great options in the pc market

Can you hook me up with the clean windows 10 install guide?

I just put in a bid on a used Aorua X5 V7. ughhh its a BGA i know, i know. Haters will hate. I wanted something thin, it least its a desktop 1070 it least. Apparently these are stout machines, consistently beating out 1080 max q Zephyrus machines.

I saw you were running bga in your sig machine below. Just figured id share.

This might be my next build if we don't get Titan level gpu on the next clevo laptop for 4k gaming. The question is will there be a mini-atx motherboard that will support 64+ ram when it's release. Also meaker once you receive yours please make a thread about your build

Yes, but no one seems to have had more questions about P751TM yet.

I thought we were in a more generic thread, sorry.

I think that my solution will be an evolution of what P775TM1 can be and that Clevo resellers should consider making this type of buid XD

My questions a few pages back got skipped because everyones a meanie  (like thermal pad thicknesses, etc)

Its ok though because Ava is taking forever for parts allocation...maybe i shot myself in foot when requesting a debadged unit? Idk..and its been a week since Xotic was supposed to tell Sager to forget about motherboard swap on RMA!...so both laptops are mia  My CPU delidding stuff from rockit and conductonaut, and custom IHS to replace intels are all coming today lol

If I didnt use Affirm i would probably see if ava was cancellable at this point and swap to HID...

There is a complete guide for thermal pad thickness for P775DM3-G, but I don't think anyone has the data for the thermal pads for P775TM1 yet.

Interesting that this model still doesn't have the thin heatsink contact point like the 870TM

But I guess the flatness QC improved?

Old news, brother :D Long time since I have posted info... Acer beat the Alienware's:) And the 7820hk in the Alienware you refer to, should be happy it was oc'd or this could be very nasty.

    This is an older one!!
    Same results.

Yeah...Not only that, Rockitcool released an IHS that increases size so maybe that would also help this laptop. I will have to report back when my laptop decides it doesn't want to be in parts allocation hell temp variance with them (GN says -6c ish). Has anyone also gotten better thermals by switching to DM3s connected heatsinks?

my power cord was very easy to pull out, so I made a quick (and probably lame) fix...
cable tied a strip of velcro (not sticky-backed) and used a sticky-backed opposite strip to stick to the laptop bottom.

it was coming out freely, now it does not.

PS, the section of cable coming from the power brick to the laptop is shorter than I would like, is there alternative bricks available?
