I think this heatsink is fake. Bootom is flat and what about cooling GPU memory and power section?

Are there any upgraded heat sinks for this laptop? I see some sellers promote advanced/upgraded cooling and some others don't mention it?

Does your GTX 1070 achieve more than 1650 Mhz on games? I thought that it should reach about 1850Mhz and have about 18500-19000 GPU score in firestrike. What bios version do You have? My is 86.04.2A.00.29.

Everyone should use the same base heatsink now.

How do you guys (P775TM owners) like the chassis? Does it feel cool, comfortable, palm rest feels nice, keyboard feels nice, port locations all make sense, etc?

Trying to decide between this and P870TM. I kinda like the appearance of P775TM better, though I know P870TM is capable of better cooling. It may come down to just how each one feels, and comfort of use, if anyone has any input. Intended build is 17" FHD, GTX 1070, i7-8700k.

    What's your day-to-day use impressions?

Well, it might not be perfect for gaming, since your hand is utilizing only one part of the keyboard most of the time, which might feel uncomfortable. But since I see an i7-8700k, my guess is that you're looking to create a workstation of some sort and for that purpose, it's quite alright. The tactile feel is nice, but I can't really compare it to anything else. You can still buy a separate keyboard, if you're feeling like it.

As for the cooling, I didn't have any problems with i5-8600k and GTX 1070, since I use a cooling pad, undervolt and delid. Usually, it doesn't go over 70, so I was quite surprised, that a laptop with this pack can be chill. You might want to ask P870TM users about their experience. Good luck!

Laptops are quite thick, so if it lies flat on the desk, the edge will cling to the wrist. the solution is trivial. You buy a cooling pad so that the laptop is at an angle (eg COOLER MASTER NOTEPAL U3 PLUS). Then you have full comfort for the hands and extra cooling of the laptop.

These laptops are perfect for gaming but only at the desk. They are too heavy and too big to use on knees sitting on the couch. But if you want to have the strongest guts :p for work and games (desktop CPU and GPU) P775 and P870 are the only way.

I chose P775 because he looks better to me, and it is slightly smaller (and I dont need two GPU's) but P870 has a bit stronger cooling (due to its size)

The way i use mine is having an external keyboard, because i´m too picky with keyboards. So at home i have an external keyboard/mouse/lcd/power adapter, and then at work i have another set of keyboard/mouse/lcd/power adapter.
I also 3D Printed two sets of desktop risers/stands to sit the laptop.
I never seen a laptop matching the comfort levels of a good external keyboard/mouse so i never even considered comfort to be important. To me comfort comes from the fact that i can quickly transition my laptop from home to work.
Now if we were talking about a laptop for coding that would be different, i like to code my stuff with a thin and light laptop, so i can go to the couch and have it in my lap or go to different locations to run diagnostics or debuggers.

By the way, the P775 can cool down a GTX 1070 / 8700K combo without any problem, considering that the assembly was done correctly.

There is nothing quite as comfortable as a full depth cherry MX brown keyboard sitting at a desk for long typing sessions.

I intend to have a docking setup in my office, but also like to sit in my chair and use it (I have a coolermaster notepal u3 plus for my old laptop, but the fans crapped out. Still use it, sans fans)

How is the P775 for docking? I'm guessing you'd ideally want a thunderbolt 3 docking station? I also assume dual monitors isn't an issue.

Thunderbolt will give you the cleanest setup but a USB hub setup and display cables would also work.

Hello, would anyone have a vbios from gtx 1070, version 86.04.72.00.12 or 86.04.72.00.13 or similar? I would be very grateful for sending me or link to download.

The older versions wont boot, the code is different and the new ones wont work with the old editor.

What about modding an old vBIOS and updating the GOP, maybe that will let it boot on -TM systems?

Then it's a case of having the skill to modify the editor for the new versions and correcting the positions of the editor.

Try the vbios in the coffee lake refresh upgrade thread, my DM3 2016 1080s are successfully modded using that as a base and they work fine with the custom BIOS and 9900K

That’s where I got the idea from. The creator of that mod updated the GOP on the old vBIOSes and got them to boot on the Coffee Lake BIOS.

Well well, after at least 6mos since the P775TM1 with the O/Cable 8700 setup came out I have followed this thread very closely. I watched many Youtube videos and searched thru as many 17.3in laptops with any hint of undervolt and other options in such laptop.

Well it in fact came down to the P775TM1 from HIDEvolution. I only called to CA and their offices to get some information but in fact Don is as good as has been said in this forum.

Well Falkentype that bright mushroom cloud is expressive for certain but i hope that such does not follow my travels with this laptop. Hehe. More than one bios chip was corrupted in my days in looking for record speeds with desktop setups.

Meaker@Sager the P775 is intended to continue my home video editting and allow for use of the HDMI output to show what I want on a TV screen. I do very little so little that you might say I do not game at all. That said the Prema bios does not leave me wishing to setup a Bios as I have for years now on desktop rigs so I bowed to maybe more rig than I needed cost wise to be closer to my Bios. The NVME main drive is aimed directly at the "searchable" nature of the tutorial software I will be using with this laptop.

Thanks for the welcome guys. It feels good to become involved in forum life after about a 4 year layoff of such. RGone...

Hey all, my order is arriving tomorrow and the panel I chose was the AUO 144hz B173HAN03.1. Does this have the same inverse ghosting issue as the Asus laptops that have the 3.2 version of the display ?

How is upgrade-ability these days on the MXM GPUs on these laptops? Same as always I’m assuming where we won’t know if we can upgrade till the new GPUs come out and form factor is the same.

Well the system came in and I am very impressed with it. Build is flawless and screen is perfect. Pro star did a great job here. See below for my first stock benchmark. GPU temps can be high and hit 90C, but boost clock always stays above 1700mhz. CPU temps are below 85C and stay at 4600mhz during benching and gaming.

rumor says that next gen is still 775TM series with Z370, 8100~9900K, RTX2070(clevosized), RTX2080(clevosized).
no more 870TM series due no more SLI.

If true that means current 775 owners will be able to upgrade to the RTX series

When I first purchased this machine, I had the motherboard die and had to send it back to Eurocom. They took care of it and shipped it back super quick, props to them. Yeah I don't have the prema bios, but that's alright. I've been slowly allowing myself to let others take care of some details and not have to worry about tinkering with them. I know, I know, but sometimes life is just simpler that way.

Anyway, I've finally managed to have the time to find a decent undervolt (no BSoDs anymore) -

    Throttlestop settings:
    Speed Shift - EPP: 64
    C1E unchecked
    Speedstep unchecked

48 core multiplier for all cores
    CPU core offset -117.2 mV
    CPU Cache offset -117.2 mV

    190 watt power limits

Only thing I'm curious about: how does this compare to other i9-9900k P775s? I can't run at 190W for long, basically just enough to do a Cinebench run. Can an overclock/undervolt be more stable if I use a static voltage instead of an offset? I don't mind not having 5 GHz if it means a nice power:heat ratio.

edit: I've settled on a more conservative, error-less undervolt. Set 8-core turbo to only 4.2 GHz, and reduced the undervolt to -80mV. Passed throttlestop's bench with no errors over and over. Otherwise, the rest remains the same; 1-7 core turbo is still 5.0 GHz, but I also set a 95W TDP limit. Cinebench uses all the cores so of course the score is much lower (just under 1600) but still quite good. Can't complain.

Static voltage can help higher end stability but increases idle power draw.

If that were true I sure hope HID offers upgrade service. Would send my TM across the ocean to them in a heartbeat lol.
