Why you don't use stock bios from Clevo? Latest version it seems okay. We have about 1900 CB.

RTX 2080 will come with lower TDP/TGP vs older gen
And the vram layout can be so much. None equal. More like a lottery. Almost as they want do a change only for the change.
-

Please don't fill this topic with Msi ****- parts. Is lower performance and lower quality. As you know Clevo have own standards which is fully defined by NVIDIA. All cards are build together with NVIDIA. So is it. About TDP i cant say nothing for this moment. Sorry.

Some needed MSI parts to be able to upgrade their Clevo machines due Clevo's layout changes. And from what I know... Some of they are +200w. Oh'well
-
clevo-extreme Company Representative
Some you mean.. Old models.. But upgrade is free choice.. Msi quality and service doesn't worth any 1 cent.. So.. This format as I wrote before is only created with cooperation with NVIDIA. Not only CLEVO.

So the stock bios, doesn't have this power limit? The official clevo page does not list bios downloads anymore, are you referring to the repository page?

GDDR6 requires even more strict routing layouts than GDDR5x. -
Will this mean MSI and Clevo will use same layout? Or can they determine what they want themselves to a lesser grade?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
With Nvidia not releasing a standard design it's up to each OEM what design they choose to use. Nvidia will have a recommended memory layout and it will be up to the OEMs to either follow that reliable layout or strike out on their own and research alternatives. -
Yeah I expected/though so. Could the memory layout be reused with minimal changes from Pascal cards design?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The clevo pascal cards were designed around GDDR5x requirements, as I said the GDDR6 requirements are more restrictive.Papusan likes this. -
It will be interesting see Clevo’s memory layout vs. what MSI will use. From what I understand from you... Clevo follows Nvidia’s recommended memory layout. Thanks

Usually yes, MSI have their own graphics devision so have more leeway for such stuff but to be fair look at the desktop chips they are all pretty similar.Papusan likes this. -
Just an update; I've updated the EC & Bios, and it seems the 118w limit has indeed been raised in the newer bios. Thank you for suggesting it!
Currently testing it, however 6x51 @ Override 1295 with -100mV offset, is stable without throttling.

Thanks man, here´s the clean version.
Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with all the heat from 5Ghz oc, besides lowering voltage and cache? -
Can you link to the BIOS update and if it is for the 8700K / GTX1080 setup?

I went to clevo-computer.com, under support you can access their bios repository.

I’m torn between the P775 with 2080/9900k and the Alienware 51m, not sure which to order tonight

One thing for sure... You won’t get an @Prema mod firmware if you go for Dell... You will get an app! http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...1m-owners-lounge.826831/page-34#post-10851721raz8020, Ashtrix, Mr. Fox and 1 other person like this.

So I went ahead and grabbed the 775 instead of the Alienware , see my specs below. Will the 330 watt power supply be enough for this rig ?

This seems a bit low for a 9900k and 2080. The 2080 should be doing 26K graphics score and the 9900K should be hitting 24K plus on the physics score. Something seems wrong

Yes but other notebook with the rtx 2080 like the MSI titan are hitting 26K graphics score.

Can you post gpu & cpu temps you were getting?

Another concern is why is this laptop shipping with only a 330watt psu? I ordered the 9900K and 2080 and I don’t think 330 is sufficient.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I don´t think you need to worry about not having enough power, instead focus on how to dissipate all that heat from 9900k
On a more serious note, I've yet to run into any problems with the stock power supply whilst pushing 190w on gpu and 165w on the cpu. Thermals are the real enemy for p775tm1 at these ranges.bennyg likes this. -

Where can we purchase the Clevo converter box so that we can connect 2 power supplies ? Or the bigger 700 watt power supply? Are these listed to buy somewhere ?

Where I could do an upgrade to 2070/2080? Do I have to change the heatsink or I could use stock P775TM1?
-
I believe the vrm layout on the 2080 is different and requires a different heatsink, have a look at page 195.

I was having second thoughts about ordering the 775, and starting to think I should have gone with the msi 75 titan with the 2080 and 8950HK, I was told both laptop would perform similar but MSI seems to have better build and keyboard. The benchmarks Clevo posted also scare me since they are way below what the msi is hitting. Thermals also seems to be way better in the titan. Can’t decide !!

I prefer personally p870 series. I can do everything myself and I don't need newest cpu or newest rtx vgas. I have i9-9900k and gtx 1070 and is Oky.

Buy from an @Prema partner shop. I mean the Clevo.

It's worth noting the Titan is a lot bigger and heavier than the 775; it's built to take 2 cards in SLI which is why it has better thermals. The closer comparison between a Titan and a Clevo would be the 870, which was also designed for SLI.
