Why is that? Larger die or something?

Larger die on the 2080, yes. I think there are other small reasons that factor in if I am not mistaken, but I do know the die is smaller on 1080

    Few more questions.
    1. Does anybody know why clevo has not updated its p775xxx page for 2000 series.
    2.Could someone send us service
Manual for the new p775xxx. I'd
just like the answer to next question.
    3. I cannot seem to find reliable information about hdmi versions
    support. 1.4 for sure, 2.0b? 2.1?
    4. What is range of 9700k undervolt you guyz are using stable...on stock.

Lower TDP and much larger die on the 2080 = lower thermal density and overall heat output.

Though not all of the die is in use normally with this chip (dark silicon does not help cooling). So the shader areas are still quite dense but split apart a little which does help.

I remember years ago the P775DM3-G had problems with 3000 Mhz G-Skill RAM but later was fixed with a BIOS update.
Has there been any issues like this with newer P775 models or the fix Clevo made back then was permanent and no later update brought it back accidentaly ?

I am planning to put these puppies inside if once it arrives :)

On Clevo and Sager's driver download page the latest available version for the Clevo Control Center 2 is 1.0.65, however on my seller's website the latest is 1.0.73.
Same thing for VGA driver, on Sager/Clevo website the latest driver is the Clevo custom made 417.11, however my seller has a newer 417.49.

Are there any official release notes which mention the differences between the 2 versions ?

this joint heatpipe on the new version is better than the separate? Why clevo went back to joint after they separated it? I dont geti it....

To improve cooling on the CPU because its cooling requirement went up, while the GPU’s cooling requirement went down.

The gpu would only heat up the CPU if the CPU is colder than the gpu (heat flows from high density to low density) and vice versa.

Clevo P775TM users with RTX 2080, can you please tell me what is your GPU core clock during gaming ?

I watched some tests on youtube and in the MSI GT75 and ASUS G703GX it is jumping around 1860-1900 Mhz while playing BattleField V and Far Cry 5, however in that Polish video which I linked earlier while playing Witcher 3, BFV , PUBG and GTA5 it was jumping between 1650 Mhz and 1850 Mhz. This indicates some serious throttling despite the temp being under 85C.

Do you guys have such a huge jumping og gpu core clock while gaming or only this 1 user had this issue and normally it only jumps around 1850-1890 mhz ?

If it really has a huge amount of throttling, why is the reason behind this? Too low TDP limit in the vBIOS or 1x 330W is not enough and it has power throttling issues ?

    Any idea?
    Maybe @Prema ? :)

Dang... are those Obsidian benchmarks and temps real? I mean, I did manage over 2k cinebench once too, but that was with a cold boot and def hit higher than 92c. Maybe the unified heatsink really does benefit in that workload quite a bit. Jealous!

    Can someone shed some light on this;

Setting my cpu voltage to override with a fixed value, however it still fluctuates anywhere from 1.13v~1.35v in HWINFO64.
The multiplier stays at x50, and windows is set to ultimate power plan, holding 5ghz at all times.

Is it supposed to do this?

I'm planning on ordering one and needed some advice on the CPU and GPU. I'm torn between the 8086K, and the 9700K. From what I can gather, the 8086K will run cooler than the 9700K and also has better OC potential.

For the gpu, I am deciding between the 2060 and the 1070. The price is almost the same for both. What are the pros and cons of choosing one over the other ?

Hi. As owner of a p775tm1-g with 2080rtx and 9700k(undervolt - 125) +16gb 2666mhz ram, i can say im in awe of this laptop. Max temps in xtu stress were 83c for cpu. Nvidia was cooler in firestrike with graphics score 26848. If anybody wants me to run some tests, please be specific. One thing i liked more in p771dm-g was that usb/esata had more current and was able to fast charge my phone.

Were your cpu or gpu overclocked with those temps? If so, what were the GHz of the 9700k multicores. And core and mem clocks of the 2080?

    P775tm1-g does not have esata/usb,
But p771dm-g from 2016 had it.

Everything were stock, only undervolting of cpu. Im still a noob at overclocking. Although i tried overclocking gpu today thru clevo control centre. Added +150 to both core and memory and made shadow of tomb raider benchmarks with no significant difference apart min fps was worse in oc. But as i said, i dont know anything almost about oc.

Any pointers? because gpu runs/ walks around 65c and i feel it could be so much more...

There are a lot of videos online that will help with oc. gpu is easier than cpu, so start with that. You basically keep core clock alone and work on mem clock with slight increments while running a benchmark (like heaven) and stop increasing once you see any 'glitches' in the benchmark screen. then step it back to where you didnt have any distortions and work on core by doing the same thing. Its very time consuming, I will give you that, but I find it fun!

of course then you can start messing with the voltage too but thats where it gets a little trickier and depends on the gpu for how to set up voltages. For example, the 10 series would perform worse if you bumped the voltage up too much because then it would start thermo-throttling well before other series cards would. I would just start looking through videos and tutorials online. There is a lot of info out there about it.

Somehow i'm not sure that upping core and memory works, based on my last (and only) try. There have been lots of talks here and i have read most of it (and forgot most of it) but i got the impression that particularly in this laptop the gpu is hard to overclock because of bios contstraints or something. Anyway i will pick it up soon, but it would be might nice, if i could find some guides particularly for this class of laptops.

How much heat does an HDD generate ? I was thinking of equipping my clevo with 2x7200rpm 1TB drives, but I hadnt considered the heat output from them ? How much cooler will the laptop run if I install the 5400rpm SSHD or a SATA SSD instead ?

Previously I had a Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD and a Seagate 1TB 7000rpm and there were no issues with heat.

Now I have 2 x Seagate 2TB FireCuda SSHD 5400rpm drives and temperature hovers between 43C-45C.

The other Samsung P961 512GB NVMe easily crossed over 60C in slot 1 so I moved it to slot 2 and now the maximum it has gone is 50C during Crystal Mark Speed test..on average it remains in mid to lower 40s under normal load.

I have plans to cut a ventilation hole in the storage slot under the grill for all the heat to move out and then ill test NVMe again in slot 1.

HDD runs much cooler than NVMe based SSDs but for SATA SSDs there is not much difference

So either get a SATA SSD or use NVMe in slot 2

It also depends on usage. Ssd has more idle time. Its faster at tasks instead of a hdd which will take more time to complete tasks so this means a longer period of generating heat.
For normal usage I still recommend Ssd if heat is a concern.

@Donald@HIDevolution is it possible to buy a Premamod BIOS directly from you guys? I'm in the UK and bought my Clevo from a UK based reseller that is not a Prema partner.

    Thanks.

Hey guys, it seems the P775TM1-G is the best Clevo with 8700K/9700K/9900K and RTX 2080. There is also P870TM1-G but PCSpecialist in the UK do not do it for some reason. How are the thermals and fan noise with heavy gaming?
