Like Jclausius said, what are you doing in this thread? You can't build a laptop for less than an equally powerful desktop. It's about 2x more money.
Just because a laptop is 5kg+, doesn't mean it's not portable. My M18x is ~6kg but you don't see me complaining about portability even though I bring it to work every day. It's all about your preferences. For me, the heavier and noisier they are, - the better I feel, as long as performance is top notch![]()
-
I just got an idea, thats all, and you dont have any rights to ask me that.
@aikimox I didnt say this to you.
well Yes it always depend on the performace, but the m18x is worth for the weight though. -
Who doesn't have the right to ask you what?
The m18x is worth it for performance to weight... but this isn't?
You're posting on a forum dude, it's not exactly a private conversation -
Rofl, I feel ya

lmfao , resepct other forum members lol
you would be banned if you talk in disrespecting way, rofl. dudeeees -
By the way, I was thinking to contact an Aluminum Case maker, to make soft ended case that can contain 2 power bricks at once.. If anyone else interested in this send me an email @ [email protected]

Guys, how about we cool down a little and focus on the subject instead of flaming eachother?
-
Aight boss. I tend to be a little tempermental, didn't mean to cause any problems. Back on track slightly... What's the estimated time that this will actually be available, and then about how long after that till I could theoretically have it in hand?
-
Funny! This Turkish website is preparing to sell IVY (Mobile equipped) notebooks.. Makes me want to change my Clevo P270WM decision..
Monster
Edit: They have even GTX 680M listed in their configuration list. Funny.. When I asked Xotic PC if they knew anything about new chips or so, they said we are under NDA (Myass ) seriously.. But too bad its be in market by late June.. If anyone is spending huge amount on P270WM with 580 cards, I suggest Hold it 3 more months? Because Kepler architecture comes with 78W according to rumors, therefore 2x GTX 680M (78Wx2) + 130W Sandy Bridge-E = 286W. Single 300W should be enough then.
Edit Further: On the other hand here is an article stating the release date for the Desktop GTX 680 which is due March 22nd. Thats 2 days from now! http://whatswithjeff.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-680-kepler/ -
Big thanks to whoever posted the manual. I notice something intriguing: "Model Differences," it says that the A version lacks 3D vision, while B version includes it. So that pretty much confirms what everyone was saying about the P270WM not launching with 3D Vision support.
I also enjoyed the keyboard section. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. I'm still not sure when I'm going to order. I'm seriously thinking about waiting until true mobile Keplar on the high-end (680M or whatever you want to call it) arrives. Who knows when that will be, though? -
You are welcome, and I have already mentioned the release dates for the GTX 680M's is by Mid June..
-
Sorry my bad there.. GTX 680M is coming by Mid July / September.
-
There will be a revolution if this concept gets adopted by vendors!
-
hmm... pretty sure a lot of people would want this, however with all the maintenance included in liquid cooling, would it be really worth it on a laptop.
-
Is there maintenance with other liquid cooling systems? I have a Zalman Reserator on my desktop. About the only maintenance I do is change the coolant every 18 months. Takes about all of 10 minutes.
-
great!
why dont they use x7200/p270wm.....im sure clevo desktop cpu chassis have more room then m18x and more easier to layout
-
I somehow think that this concept is still far from being adopted, but who knows. Would love to see that happen. So no more annoying fan noise + ssd = quiet + max performance
-
Great tech, indeed) It might bump the price of a lappy by 200-300$ for innovation and thermal efficiency, of course! So first real world machines to include liquid cooling might be top of the line monsters like M18x/P270HM!
The need of high performing desktop PC really fades away after such news, he-he) -
That amazed me.. Why is this not used? I mean it surely helps the computer by cooling it down way more efficient! That is indeed amazing, please integrate it Clevo
-
You still need fans but the noise level is reduced for sure.
There's a chance the M18xR2 will have one (Dell and asetek are already close partners, at least in desktop segment) but I see one big issue here. In order to replace a GPU or CPU the whole thing needs to be dismantled. -
With such a temperature fix I would gladly have the option to either select water cooling or the regular cooling. Nothing comes without a consequence and a pro
I guess you'll have to live with that if you pick the better cooling option -
How often are most end users going to do it?
-
Just for a reference, up to date I opened my system (to the GPU/CPU HS removal) around 10 times. That's in less than 8 months. Here's why:
1 CPU 2630Qm to 2920XM ES upgrade
2 CPU heatsink upgrade from a single to 2-piped one
3 CPU repasting (from TX-4 to ICD24)
4 CPU 2920XM ES to 2960XM OEM upgrade
5 CPU heatsink light modding
6 CPU 2960XM to 2630QM downgrade (sold the xtreme CPU)
7 GPU 2x6970M to 1x6990M swap
8 adding another 6990M
9 Downgrading back to the 6970M's
10 Replacing the stock thermal pads and paste on the GPUs
So yeah, if you never upgrade and never repaste, you may not need to remove the cooling system. But Murphy's Law is always active
-
But you do know most end users won't do that much
-

That might be true with other brands, but a much larger percentage of Clevo owners buy these machines knowing that they can (and probably will) be opening theirs up
-
I had no experience with opening a notebook, but I did open my a few times for upgrades as I got the parts. Although I think I am done now.
-
I'm kinda planning to open mine as soon as I get it, just to look at the precious...
-
'Tis true. Sometimes I open it just to stare at the heatpipes...
-
P270WM has started arriving in limited numbers, today a re-seller confirmed that they have received limited numbers of New clevo P270WM's
-

yeah, it's a fake.
with gtx580m the ETA is 29th march / with GTX675M 20th april -
uhm.. GTX 675, i did'nt hear from this card till now.. so i started some google searches.. (found nothing but "Google vergisst nicht: Ivy Bridge und GTX675M" [Google doesn't forget: Ivy Bridge and GTX675M] which is about some Samsung notebook....)
are there some benchmarks from this card? Gaming-Improvement from the 580m/6990m?
oke now i found some details - on a post was statemented "die 675er = 580er, ein reiner Rebadge welcher allerdings billiger (Preis) ist" [675 = 580] just a rebadge, but it is cheaper!] true?
may be the wrong thread to ask..

Nvidia just released the specs today
GeForce GTX 675M - GeForce
a few benchmarks here
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M - Notebookcheck.com Technik/FAQ
Looks like its the top card now -
5% over the 580M in 3DMark Vantage GPU and '11 is a bad joke, even for a rebrand. Worse, yet, Nvidia will undoubtedly charge the top price for this card. It would be a good move for AMD to release the 7970M right now with a 400-500$ price tag.
-
Completely OT... Akimox your avatar makes me so happy.
-
Haha, yes! The best game of all times is coming back with an improved engine, and many extras!

Sager has re-opened Pre-orders for the Sager NP9270. Shipping is still scheduled to begin in mid-April. It comes standard with the nVIDIA GTX 675M w/2GB GDDR5
-
Nice, so end of April we'll see first reviews.
-
Still not showing on clevo's official site... am I doing this wrong or something?
-
The drivers that they used were old, for the 580M benchmarks, they should be the same if they use the same drivers.

GPU has just been changed to GTX 675M W/ Optimus
-
Not for the NP9270, it doesn't have the IGP
You probably meant he NP8150 and NP8170.
True, the newer drivers should offer some improvement but not enough to call it a real refresh, IMHO. -

Expect 3DVantage of about high 12,xxx for the nVIDIA GTX 670M 193bit w/1.5GB GDDR5 and 15,xxx for the nVIDIA GTX 675M 256bit w/2GB GDDR5.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Indeed it appears Optimus is not included, Strike that! -
Isn't the 680m supposed to actually be a keplar card? As well as the 660m and a few others? Are we only getting the 675m at this point or are the other ones still coming down the pipe later?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Today Nvidia released specs on the 660M, 670M, 675M but nothing about a 680M. None of the ones released today are Keplar Notebook PC - NVIDIA GeForce GPUs for Notebook PCs
-
Bummer
guess I read old news. I'm le sad.
Also (color me dumb) but um... where on nvidia's site are you seeing that they are fermi vice keplar? Not that I doubt you I just couldn't see any reference to that at all.
Allegedly the 660m will be a Keplar gpu, according to this article. That's about 10 hours old though. I'm so confused on all of this, and I can't do very indepth research on my work computer.
-
That's rather odd. I reckon a good surprise incoming with the release of the 680M.
