MXM 3.1 is backwards compatable with 3.0b. So we should be fine.

So the rumor for 680M says June? Then 685M might even be around December. If the price is anything like 580M, I can only afford one..

anyone a idea of what the price difference between the 675m and the 7970m will be?

if they're roughly the same i'll wait till may and then ask my reseller if/when the p270wm with cf 7970m will be available.

The 675m is just a 580m rebadge. So the 7970m should be decently more powerful.

I have the p150hm with the 95% matte screen and would not going back to the regular ones. it's a much better screen not just color but much better contrast too. I think they stop making the 90% matte for the 17" if I remember correctly.

There are 3 Screens that fit the 17" (Well 4 if you count the 3D one)

    - Standard: 60% Gamut Glossy
    - Matte: 72% Matte
    - High Gamut Glossy: 90% Gamut Glossy
    - 3D: 72% Gamut Matte 120Hz

What model did you order? Bcoz I am being told (as of a few minutes ago) that the NP9130/9150/9170's are in but no 9270 yet. Just wanted to double check we are talking about the same model laptop here.

PCSpecialist, a Clevo reseller in the UK, has said the p270wm has been withdrawn by Clevo and delayed indefinitely because of an extremely high failure rate. Anyone able to shed any light on this? (The strange thing is that this model is still being sold in the u.s.)

They can't withdraw it if it has never been released :)

As with most releases of new models the original target date is not always met. Just get a grip on your anxiety and reach for your patience...the wait will be worth it :D

It's been released its being built, the hardware and components are sitting in Lincoln, nebraska right now, being assembled. Its supposed to take between 5-12 business days to build and test, burn in. So hopefully next week I get a present....

    CITATION NEEDED

According to this PCSpecialist thread, that appears to be completely false.

EDIT: Sorry, I found the article he was talking about:

Viper III replacement (Clevo P270WM) SLI GTX 675M DELAYED INDEFINITELY

Can some of the resellers here just come out and say "Hey, we have it" or "No, we don't have it"? Right now it's just speculation one way or the other. Paladin, your previous two posts appear to be quite coy... can you confirm for us here and now, that you have the P270WM or that you have a shipment en route?

According to XoticPC, the NP9270 is not in yet and any word that it has come in is incorrect. So as bumming as this might sound, you might want to double, or triple check again like Paladin says.

I called my supplier and was informed its been delayed do to a recall by Clevo. They siad the delay will be a couple days (with no specified date or ETA). They would not confirm the reason but metioned something about a possible firmware/bios issue. Sorry this is vague but they were vague to me.

I doubt PCspecialist would post unreliable info like that if they didn't have an official confirmation from Clevo. BTW, they probably use European/Asian distributor and could have access to info not yet available/disclosed by Sager.

Each and every reseller here will have the laptop in stock when it's available. Most if not all North America resellers on this forum work with Sager as the sole distributor. There's no green light from Sager as far as I know but let's see if there's any update. Hopefully, things get clarified soonish. This is most alarming if the rumors are true. I was hoping Clevo would do a better job designing their flagship :(

    My hopes and dreams.
:c . Looks like I'll have to settle for something else. I don't know if I'd want to buy the first gen of a laptop that already recalled it preproduction.

Sigh time to talk to myth tomorrow.

Again, you cannot 'recall' a product that has never been released.

No reseller has them in stock, or has a shipment coming because they have yet to be released.

There is no need to panic, or fan the flames of the rumor mill. Just be patient and it will be released when ready.

New model releases are like estimating when a baby will be born...it is an estimate and the baby could arrive early, or late. With new release laptops it is usually late :)

I didn´t plan to post this, but since it has now leaked anyway...

Clevo factory has temporarily stopped production of this model. A resume is expected for the end of May.

No offense Paladin, but I think it's abundantly clear to everyone here that you're being coy (and not addressing the fact that we have confirmation from a reputable source, PCSpecialist) in order to dissuade people from getting a refund.

The "cannot recall what hasn't been released" argument is somewhat dishonest. It appears that the product hasn't been "recalled", rather its release has been indefinitely delayed. You can call it a "recall", a "delay", or whatever you want, but again you're twisting the semantics for your own benefit. I mean, I see where you're coming from... This is your business and livelihood, and I understand that. I'm coming from the perspective of the potential customer though.

Ok so my voicemail saying hardware and components were in, and the email saying parts were in waiting on build and test/burn in are not accurate I received a pm apologizing for the confusion but it's not in not being built so my apologies getting everyone's hopes up, cause now mine are dashed

Can a reseller try to get to the bottom of the matter?

A little transparency from Clevo (or Sager if they're in the know) would go a long way. If it is delayed til May/June. Fine. Let us know. If delayed a couple of days. Fine. Whatever the case, let us know, we'll deal with it.

It's the "unknown" which is starting to eat at people's nerves.

Just call your reseller. They didn't seem like they are trying to hide the fact its being delayed. The reason may be unclear and the length of delay maybe unclear. If enough people call we might be able to piece togeather a reasonable ETA and a reason for the recall.

I am considering this a recall. I was informed the reseller had recieved it some were built and sent out and the rest when there was an issue noticed were sent back. There are P270WMs out there in the US. Don't know how many but they were built.

Yes these have been delayed for production quality reasons. Both software and hardware. We don't have a whole lot of information yet, as it was just announced overnight officially. But yes it has been delayed, right now we are hearing a week on the short end and don't know on the long end. Please note the only "official" word is that its been delayed due to production quality issues. No specific time table has been laid out.

We totally understand how frustrating it is for everyone, but its better than getting a great new toy just to have piles of issues with them =)

Well I need some confirmation of when the release of this machine will happen and what the failure is due to or I will need to get my laptop else ware.... sad cause this is gonna cost some resaler between 4-7k from me as I was gonna get ALL big ssd's and I am sure if you add up the potential losses of say 100 or 1000 other very likely customers... just the 4k and 3k customers who posted in the last page who will likely cancel their order, add that to my imminent order that just WILL not be placed and multiply that and you are talking WAY more loss than just saying EXACTLY what is going wrong and what the ETA for a stable release is.

I had high hopes for this machine... I past up on some alienware builds when they still had the extreme cpu's.... well I might just turn my attention to the mx18 r2 ....

I suggest that the resalers ALL call Clevo and get some info for us or you will loose sales and in my case a potential LONG term , HIGH spending customer (and I would imagine many more like me).

Wonder how these issues were discovered, and why it was so close to launch. Wonder if the resellers will get some kind of reimbursment from Clevo, I can't imagine this'll help their sales. Can't say I'm to happy about being laptop less for at least another week either.
