They already have my money. And there really isn't any alternative, no other laptop has the features I want, besides this one.

I gotta agree. The alternatives just are not out there yet if this is really what you want. I will proably stick it out and hope for the best.

I understand that... though if I had already paid I would be asking for a refund... and still have the option of buying if the product is released and or communication from manufacturer is adequate in letting me know the exact length of delay.

But if you need it you need it. I just hate seeing that cause the consumer heartache. Here is hoping to a good alternative!!! Oh well they keep you as a customer, still might loose me though.

Myth isn't gonna lose me over this, it's not their fault Clevo had issues. If the 18in wasn't end of life, or could support more GPUs I'd maybe see about switching to that, since the Desktop CPU isn't the big selling point for me, but that's not the case. Hopefully Clevo compensates the resellers/builders some and maybe they can kick it down to the end buyers, otherwise I pre-ordered a Laptop, there are risks.

I am not blaming the resellers , they are suffering as much as the end buyer and myth has been great on here.

My point was that by cancelling orders etc. it lets the resellers know to demand more info from clevo. Though the fact that there is little clear info from some resellers (myth not included) does not make me like the resellers in this much more than Clevo.

That being said it looks like a GREAT laptop and I still hope to get one, as long as I do not get turned off by delays of unknown length or something else which meets my needs does not appear first.

So far I’m out $70, shipping costs, for returning a nicely configured ASUS right after I found out about the P270WM. As far as my reseller, Pro-Star, screwing me or wanting to manipulate me and hold on to my order; there’s no sign or concern of that. Rather I feel obligated to their business as they didn’t charge me restocking fees or the $40 expediting fee (option I selected to get the new ASUS faster) when I wanted to cancel it, only the shipping costs they were out.

I’ve gotten almost 4 years out of my ASUS P6860FX with only a T9300, GeForce 8800, 4GB RAM and SSD. So what’s my rush to go out and spend 3.4k on something with less horsepower than the P270WM configured with an i7-3930, dual GTX 675M’s and 16GB PC3 1500/1866Mhz DDR3 RAM???? I just shopped for the best Alien Ware. It can’t compare and price is crazy.

The P270WM is going to be a welcome addition when it gets here. If someone is in that much of a hurry, go out and spend the extra money on something else that only comes close to the specs of this machine and feel that lump in your throat when you realized you could have waited a little longer to get what you really wanted, later.

It is what it is. Get a life, go out for a beer and it’ll get here when they're ready. …“At least that’s what I’m telling myself.”

Quite shocking that certain resellers (eg Sager, Xoticpc- last time I checked) are still offering it, even though the news that it has been indefinitely delayed has spread.

I guess the best thing I can do now is wait and check again in a week. Well gotta piece together my desktop build and live life. TTYAL

We are still offering it as a pre order as it has always been listed. If it is going to be delayed it does not change the fact that it will continue to be a pre order.
Some people still want to place pre orders for it to reserve a spot in line for incoming stock (when ever that may be)

This is fine for you to say Paladin, you're a reseller and not out of pocket for a product you don't have, with a manufacturer who isn't being considerate enough to even keep it's purchasers informed as things happen :)

i agree, i shelled out big big money for a workhorse in this machine.... not only do i want to know when it will be released, but i want to know exactly what the issues are. I would expect the same of any manufacturer of any high end equipment i purchase. It's all about offering your customers the information to make a well informed decision.
I'm also moments away from cancelling my order and i'm sure it will be a fight to get my money back...

That sounds like a fine company you're dealing with. I would tell them to prove they had the item in stock in the first place before paying them a single cent. Since Clevo hasn't even released the item yet, they can't prove they did. If they insist I would tell them my lawyer will be in contact with them.

Its amazing that companies like this can even stay in business.

This shouldn't be the norm. I would understand more if this was something they actually had on their shelves, but they didn't. No one has this computer yet.

Let me know of what happens when you cancel the order... and I agree with your point of keeping the customers of a high end product informed of the issues is a good thing , especially to keep long term high end customers.

All this is actually making me look at other alternatives for my needs... like high end desktops in multiple locations and the alienware mx 18 which with an extreme cpu oc'ed to 4.5 will keep up with this beast in most applications and be faster in others...

    altleet

That is VERY disturbing, while asking about the delays at Originpc today I was told I should purchase now to get a place in line the account you shared makes me happy I did not and VERY scared to preorder with any reseller. It also makes me look at the unclear communication from many resellers about delays... (Mythic seems to be quite good in this regard) from both talking to Origin and the Coy comments by another reseller today means I will be VERY VERY cautions about which reseller I use!!!

This kinda reminds me of an order for a "high end" mp3 player the sflo2 I ordered from a shop in Hong kong a few years ago which took MANY months to actually be shipped, LOL.

In short, I know some people are VERY patient and even apologetic to the manufacturer Clevo or the resellers.... but to all those involved in the supply chain.... the more informed you make us consumers... the fewer consumers like me say the things I am saying. In fact I would be telling every one how good it is to deal with clevo and it's resellers part of your Social army so to speak. Just food for thought!!!

and from the different things I have heard about eurocom on this thread and others they are on my blacklist... WOW that is unreal , restocking fee for a preorder... or a misrepresentation of a preorder of a not yet existing product for a product ready to ship. Choose either one, each are equally distasteful.

Ivy bridge is not and will not be compatible with socket 2011 which the p270wm is. So no there is absolutely NO chance of Ivy bridge being compatible.

However Ivybridge E which will likely be released in the second half of 2013 is compatible with socket 2011 and thus might be supported by this laptop. Compatibility between Ivybridge E and the p270wm (though socket compatible) will depend on whether the BIOS of the p270wm is upgraded to support the new cpu type.

I hope that clears up your question :)

I am kind of patting my back for not giving into temptation and so not pre ordering ANYTHING! The money is right here with me and I am waiting patiently typing this from my 6 yr old but still faithful Dell Inspiron 600m running ubuntu lucid.
@Aikimox ( I like to read comics and am a huge fan of the phantom ) so as Lee Falk would say "For those who came in late" , please repeat any advice( read bashings and warnings given earlier that would be helpful for us waiters about how best to use the money. Also good luck to people who already paid up and hope you eventually get this beast all sturdy and safe or get your money back ( whichever you wish). The only other factor which makes me worry right now is that although the mobo is compatible with ivy E but Clevo may not release an update for the NP9270. I also wanted to pm you but dont know how to do it . could you help?
@Altleet I would be interested in the 450 W adapter but again I dont know how to pm you . Please tell me how to do it.

Pro-Star, my reseller, called me yesterday afternoon and verified the news in the thread; delay until beginning of May - manufacturing issue. That was pretty good service. I didn't have to reach out to them - they called me.

Sorry to hear about altleet's restocking fee on a pre-order. That's just wrong...

The delay has caused me to look closely at my configuration and one thing I did notice is that the Killer N card is not supported with the Netgear PTV1000/2000, a module to wirelessly transmit 1080 to an external HDMI. I had Pro-Star downgrade my config to the Intel 6300 in preparations for the Netgear wireless HDMI setup.

Don't bother PMing me because I plan to cancel my order my self, that means I don't plan to work on higher 450W PSU's either. Eurocom says that they have already shipped some P270WM, and it seems like I might have to fight back to get a full refund for a product that does not exist in the market.

I just placed a pre-order for the new clevo two days ago, but since I'm an international customer, I'd have to wire the money to them. Luckily I read this thread, e-mailed the reseller (one of the biggest here), and they replied telling me not to listen to these rumors. They reminded me that since I haven't paid yet, I wouldn't be placed in line.

What bothers me is, with these resellers the whole point is trust, else why would I fork out over $3,000 for them to build me a machine? It seems that the delay is pretty much NOT a rumor.

If a company is open and upfront with me, even with bad news, it's not going to make me go look somewhere else. It's the opposite, I'd trust them MORE!!!

Question for you guys experienced in SLI. Right now I have my preordered configuration set up for the SLI. However, after looking on page 20 in the manual that is linked in Altleet's signatrue, I'm not sure if this is the best route. I don't see myself with two of these power bricks in my laptop bag and then having to enable/disable them if/when I want to chage from battery, one power adapter or two, etc. It's already got a nice video card, etc. Am I really going to notice that much of a difference with the 2 Video cards vs. the one? I will do some gaming, but primarily I'll have about 20 1-20MB electrical design/autocad files open at one time along with multiple program windows and explorer windows with 2 monitors. Which I mostly get away with now with my 3-something year old ASUS. I don't mind paying the money for the power - is the extra GPU really that noticable/worth it? Thanks...

In the ~2 years of first having it, no. After 2 years, yes. The single card begins to show its limits after about 2 years of usage ('limits' meaning no more maxed out settings in games). However, a second card will almost always (depends on game optimization) allow you to continue maxing things out for another year or so. SLI is never an automatic 2x performance boost. It's usually 25% to 75%. Some games, although very rarely, will show a 100% performance boost (or close to it)--that's when SLI really shines.

We hope it to be a short delay of a week or so, but it may be a few weeks. The specific reasoning is that the production qualities of the motherboard are not good. Very high failure rate both right off production and ongoing testing. So they are going over production again with a new revision. In addition there are still issues with the BIOS + EC that they are working on to keep it stable and make sure all features work as advertised.

We are happy that this issue has come to light before it made it to market. We would have more than likely found this ourselves during the MYTHLOGIC QA process. Our Technical team is very astute at finding shortcomings in the on-board software, BIOS, EC and other finer points of the new systems.

We will make sure our customers are updated as soon as the suppliers let us know.

This is what was sent to me by Myth.

Personally I'm glad that they do fix things before hand. I'm just unfortunately stuck in the crappy position of not having a laptop currently cause mine got borked. So I was really holding out hope for this thing to release on time.

The x79 chipset is compatible however the bios for each specific board must be updated to include support for that chip. I would imagine all desktop boards will receive that update to their bios. However this being a special made part there is no guarantee that Clevo (or there mb manufacturer) will include support for Ivy E.

Though I really hope they do :)

Mythlogic, you guys had me sold. I just placed an order for this laptop with Eric's help. I'm in no hurry so a delay is fine. But I want, no NEED, this laptop!
