True. The bad news is that most IPS panels in laptops is poor.
Yes, vapor chamber will be the best.![]()

Another idea for the re-design: PCI Express 3.0 with MXM 3.1 please. Get on it, Clevo! Someone pass this message along, as well the other suggestions!
-
Well this is dissapointing. I really was looking forward to an upgrade. Guess the old standby will have to last a bit longer then.
At least I will not have to feel I am a beta tester dealing with faulty P9270 systems...................... -
i wonder if its going to be held for a long period of time would they just redesign it for the Haswell mobile chips you figure a lot of people would want to jump on them to not to cut ib but for those that can afford why not. i say this only because i heard a few months for the new p270 and i read some where that the haswell chip might be ready by the 1st quarter of 2013
-
as well as Crysis 3 haha
.. i think this depends on every user, some want to get their device as fast as possible and other want them to be 1/2 year the best ones.
i personally need the machine by september 2012, if it won't be released then i will have to go with an desktop or the x7200 (both at same price but the dekstop has about 30% more CPU performance and 200% more GPU performance over the x7200)
but yeah.. hdmi in and PCIE-E 3. would be nice to get from clevo -
so yea.. since this laptop is dead, or being redesigned, i will be getting myself a m18x r2 with 4 usb ports and 3 HDD slots + 1 msata slot. 3ssd in raid 0 is just too good lol
-
^It's definitely not dead. I doubt clevo would just dump this laptop after all that advertisement.
Secondly, the delay will be 4-6 months at most. If you wanna overpay like $400 for a lesser laptop, be my guest (considering the price of the 3920XM, it'd be like a $1000 overpay). -
I'd be so sad if this laptop was somehow cancelled. It's torture to give someone an exciting prospect (desktop processor in a laptop with Xfire 7970M) and then take it away.
-
If this laptop gets cancelled, I'm spending all the money on a gtx 690 and buildin a desky from there ftw
-
the 690 is just.. bad
D), a 680 SLI will perform better for the same price (and the SLIs produce less heat)
go with a 685 - it has the GF110 core. (which should have been built in into the 680.. but time made them take the GF104)
if you don't want to wait.. there is the Gainward GTX 680 Phantom, a bit better than the "normal" GTX 680! -
Why??? ips panel more best TN?? or not?
-
who know when will be released Clevo p270wm?
-
Clevo knows
as by now - nobody of us, not even the resellers know when the release is gonna happen - there are speculations.. uhm, 1-4months, some say 6months
-
it turns out that Sager lied about how they wanted to sell them in the middle of May?
-
if Clevo wouldn't took back the p270wm to the drawing board (unfortunately there were some major malefunctions with the mobo (motherboard)) then may 60% of us would be happy with a brand new beast and the others may would have gottn the ones with issues
ähm.. i may made some tense errors in there.. but i hope you get the idea
Sager is just a reseller like many others, they are not responsible for the issues clevo had. -
Well, it wasn't lying. There are always unforeseen events in these things. I work for a software company, so I know how it goes.
I'm comforted by the fact Clevo currently has neither desktop CPU platform nor an SLI GPU platform (yes, there's the x7200, but that's really dated). Because they're losing money until they get this out and they know it. If everyone who would buy the P270WM goes with the P170EM they're losing at least $500 a purchase. If everyone who would buy the P270WM goes with alienware, they're losing several thousand dollars a customer. That's money on the table. Not to mention hurting their brand loyalty. I am a loyal clevo customer (via resellers), and I only buy clevo laptops. I recommend clevos to my friends. But hey, if this drags out too long and I end up getting an alienware maybe I'll love it so much I won't go back. So there is also a potential to lose future customers.
So I'm sure they're going as fast as possible. But I don't have experience with hardware production, so I couldn't tell you whether "as fast as possible" is 1 month, 4 months, or 6 months. And that's really the question. I understand why they won't tell us, because they can't afford the negative PR of missing another date so they want to be 100% certain the next time it goes on pre-sale. -
To pass on what my reseller told me: Mid-June.
-
I ordered mine from Origin and I just spoke with my sales rep yesterday and he said they were informed that it will not be released until later this summer and that it is a problem with the chassis that they get from Clevo. He told me if I wanted to wait that I would be at the top of their que when it is released. I placed my order back in February so I guess that if I have waited this long I could wait a bit longer. I just have not seen anything else that could compare to it.
-
I was just contacted today by my rep at origin and told that is has been pushed back to Q4 now. Now I'm just trying to figure out what I want to get now. I really wanted the SLI and 3D. Any suggestions on something similar?
-
and that the problems with the chassis, which arose from clevo? whether they are critical, and that means by itself?
What will happen to those who have already bought a laptop Clevo p270wm? and what will those who placed an order, but it has not yet received? -
Ehhhh ..... Yes I do work in IT, Head of IT, so I understand that all things are possible ..... it is even worse ..... so let's hope that very soon will release this laptop is very bad that I sold her Clevo X7200 = ((
-
do you really believe that the release will only be in Q4?
-
The only thing I have seen that comes close is the Alienware m18x. You'll pay nearly twice what you would for the P270, so be forwarned. You end up paying a high premium for the right to have a laptop with fancy flashing lights and an alien head logo.... and thats all you get for this grossly overpriced machine.
Dell is ripping people off with that machine, and a lot of people fall for it. -
I'm guessing late Q4 or early Q1 in 2013. I have nothing concrete to base this on other than a hunch, but I feel this hunch has some substance. Hope I'm wrong, but we'll all know for certain eventually.
-
I am with you on this... I adore clevo/sager... buttttttt this is making me really think m18x :\ Because of the sli -
Well.....
Things are looking even more grim. To back up what Nightman posted recently, OriginPC is, as of today, not even accepting preorders for their version of the P270WM branded the EON 17-X. They still have a extemely large hold on my credit card, which "holds" my place in the line. I will post if this is removed.
This may mean (because this thread needs more speculation) that the previous "month or two" has evaporated.
I'm going to hold out. I need a 3D laptop that can actually run 3d (SLI) and a very large processor capacity. My alienware M17x-R1 is literally falling apart (again!!!) and alot of the "extras" don't work (like the camera, bluetooth, AlienFX editor, facial recognition, and hinge) I'm sick of fixing stuff and will limp by with this for the near future. Thanks for the info everyone has given up to this point- it has been appreciated.
-N -
....I personally ordered the m18x-r2. It ended up costing 500 or so more. It's not as bad as i thought. If I end up not enjoying it at all, I'm gonna sell it (return it..eat the 15% restocking...ugh) and get the Sager when it comes out.
I'm just fed up with the waiting game. It's been sense December 2011 and I'm not waiting till another year. I called Sager themselves and they told me it's going to be AT LEAST 6 months.
That was the nail in the coffin for me.
I wish the 18x had the crazy six core, and 1866 ram but I got the dual 675m. So maybe it'll suffice.
Still would'a rather had the Bugatti Veyron.
But I'll settle for a Lamborghini Murcielago.
I'm sure I'll get my fix.
....she was the one that got away
haha -
Well thats a def push for me not to even consider an alienware... I always have this grim feeling against dell since years back my xps went due to a faulty nvidia card...and had a hard time with dell accepting fault... ugh i really hope its mid june and not Q4 like people are thinking
-
The worst was when I was told that they wouldnt even look at fixing the monitor hinge that had gone bad (known issue) because I had installed a Windows 7 version that was not purchsed through them... and to look at it I would have to reinstall Windows Vista. I can't make that up. My 3 year warranty would not be honored on a physical part of the laptop that was a known issue because I upgraded. That should be enough for anyone.
-
I found this interesting, what do you make of it?
Alienware m18x vs. m17x r2 - Part 1 - YouTube -
Alot changed from the R-1 (which is what I have) to the R-2. R-1 had no grill, 1200p resolution, facial recognition, and an aluminum frame, HDMI, and for some reason a S-video out as well. (?) The design overall was great, but there were build issues.
I bought the R-1 because it was the last laptop designed by Alienware before they were bought by Dell- and I had always wanted an AW since they first started selling Towers. The R-1 was released under Dell, but most of the design was done pre-takeover.
As far as the 18x I'll be honest. I don't like grill, and the plastic feels cheap. Its overlit- and in a bad way. (and I'm a lighting designer so I love having too many lights) We should be at a point where you can buy a 3D laptop running SLI. Its that simple. No compromises. You really need SLI for 3D gaming with mobile cards. Why isn't this an option with AW? I would forgo the grill and just turn it off and live with the sloped sides and the ty customer service if I could just game in 3D over SLI. Sorry. I'll get off the soapbox now! -
Yea there was a huge deal over the xps at the time, a suit was brought on them by so many people but it took years before that lawsuit went through and they fixed it... but by then i had to get a laptop because that one was kaput. They even went so far to try and accuse me of not sending in the first laptop that had the issue which I had, using their return shipping info. It was a disaster.. this was... like 5 years ago a mess... I am sorry to hear about your situation did you try going higher up?? like talk to supervisors etc?
-
I went pretty far up. Ended up sending it to California to a fixer and paying $160 for a new bezel frame. It did the same thing about six monthe later so I'm past the point of really caring. It will make it another six months- the threads are stripped in the holes so I just do the best. I currently have the tiny tim of Desktop Replacements
-
Yes, the panel is compatible... in theory. But there could be a slight voltage and other differences, which could kill the mobo. In short, if you have a lot of money and willing to try, go ahead
HeT, not a chance. -
thats horrible
-
I spoke to them, Alienware, on their Live Chat. After the chat was over I'll be sticking with Myth, even if I have to go back to the x7200 to get SLI and 3+ HDDs. The lady asked for my phone number so they could call if we got disconnected, which of course we did, she never called back. Prior to that, I was informed that there was no way to have it sent to me without Windows on it, or for them to use my Windows key (I've got a completely unopened box currently). The sales tech wasn't even aware whether or not the system was end user upgradeable. It was just so frustrating and seemed like everything one thinks of negatively when they hear of corporatization.
-
To be honest, I'm only going to wait another month or two. There is no point of waiting six months for this laptop, since the next gen graphics cards will be right around the corner.
I'll probably end up going with p170EM to be honest. The 7970M > 675M SLI (the only reason I wanted the p270wm was for the 7970M SLI - I wasn't too hung up for a processor I didn't need).
As for the m18x, there's no point paying like $500+ more for SLI and a crappy processor. Furthermore, I'm Australian and a $5000 m18x = $3000 one in America (you can check this up for yourself).
It's really sad to be honest, I had really been looking forward to the p270wm. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they released it with a mobile processor. I just wanted the SLI.
I do, however, hope it won't be a 6 month delay. From a business point of view, it's terrible. This is the PERFECT time to buy a laptop as intel and amd/nvidia switch from 32 nm to 22 nm, with amd's 7970M being one hell of a graphics card.
You can imagine how many thousands of dollars clevo could potentially lose and considering that a lot of people would end up going for the m18x, future customers will probably not even consider clevo.
I'm just glad my reseller (Mythlogic) didn't take any payment as they only send invoices when they all the parts. I'm surprised other resellers didn't do this. -

Didn't read the thread so this could be old news. The P270WM has been officially cancelled
. Sorry guys but rest assured that Clevo is doing eveything in their power to come up with great substitutes, and when I say great I mean great.
-
That actually is news. Last anyone here had heard, it had just been delayed once again.
-
Could you give us your source?
-
"p270wm" naming officially cancelled!? sounds cool, i dont like "p270wm"....x9200/x270wm for this unit is much better
-
Contacted my Retailer related to this topic. Statement: P270WM has been officially canceled!
Maybe we will see the successor of the P180HM a little bit earlier. -
Completely canceled?! Can other resellers/builders back up this statement?
Last we all knew--and was backed up by multiple resellers and builders--was that it was back to the drawing board for the motherboard and possibly the chassis.
I'll be extremely disappointed if it is completely canceled. -
Is this really true? Coz if the NP9270 isn't coming out I might go with an Alienware M18x. Reflexnotebook.ca ( Alienware) is offering it and said they could save you up to 10% off the regular price. So if I want to buy a $3000 M18x, i'll get it for $2700 only? Please enlighten me on this one. Thanks.
-
Out right cancelled with nothing on the way? I find that hard to believe.
If the core changes (see my previous posts), then that too would be a disappointment, as I was looking forward to see what this model could do. Regardless, it seems they were way too premature to pull the plug on the x7200.
< $0.02 >
Also, I think there is WAY TOO MUCH speculation and rumormongering going on right now. If anyone has something concrete (like an honest email from a reseller or Clevo), then update the thread. If you're posting something from somewhere else, or a little bird told you, I would ask you first verify that report with an official source.
< /$0.02 > -
So what's official? Do you wanna see the email my reseller send me?
Its deleted from my resellers online shop, also it isn't to find on Sager online shop (was it ever there).
EDIT: PC-Konsulten.se is a reseller who confirmed the cancelation.Official enough? -
Yes, it was on Sager's site. It was there in February when the pre-orders started, but was removed when the first delay was announced in March. It returned when the mid April date was released, but was again removed last week when the "back to the drawing board" news came out. -
Actually, yes. Or at least the pertinent section.
No offense, but I don't really "know" PC-Konsulten.se. < aside > But then again, I don't really "know" anyone on the forum < /aside >
Regardless, as any good reporter will tell you, statements should be verified from multiple sources. I would feel better if there was an update from Myth, babyhemi, Larry, Justin (or Hustady), AVA Direct, Fortnox, Origin, Maingear, or RJTech. If PC-Konsulten.se is a reseller, I'm sure they'll verify the news. And hopefully add what the next steps will be. New mobo? Updated Specs? Any kind of tid-bit for an x7200 successor. -
PC-Konsulten.se Company Representative
I am sure the other resellers will confirm in time. Anyway, I see no reason to swap to eg. Alienware m18x unless you are in a hurry. Clevo will have good substitutes but there are no accurate release dates.
-
What info do you have that can be shared? Desktop CPU? 3+ HDD bays? LGA-2011? Anything?
