I would try different drivers and use a WHQL release. Beta drivers are Beta as they can be buggy.

I contacted Allen at Sager support and he informed me how to fix this problem with the FN backlit keyboard function on the NP9380SM3 with Windows 8 so that it works as it should. You must do a clean install of the OS and reload the drivers. Do not load the Hotkey driver on the disk that came with notebook. Load updated Hotkey driver from Sager download site. He said this is the only way to fix this problem now but they was working on a quick fix.
This worked for me. All FN key combinations are working as they should now. Thanks for your help. Maybe this info will help someone else too.

Just got my NP9830-S today, and OMG it is fantastic. How in the hell did I never go with a Sager before now? Crikey. The only thing that bugs me a little bit is the texture on the touchpad, but I've never been a fan of touchpads in general anyway.

The P375SM did not have a mSATA slot issue. That was the P150-151-157-170-177SM that had the issue.

About to install Metro 2033. I am curious what kind of performance I will get. Will report back soon with benchmark and temps.

    Runned the banchmark:

    - DirectX: 11
    - Resolution: 1920x1080
    - Quality: Medium
    - Antialiasing: SMAA 4x
    - Texture Filtering: AF 16x

FPS was around 40, temps where around the 70.

I wish there were more online reviews for the Clevo P370SM/P375SM I am torn between these particular models and the Alienware 18. Really wish the P375SM had a 120Hz screen option like the 370. :(

Get p370sm3d with 780sli and 4700mq cpu! Invest in ssd for OS, buy 4930mx in a year and be happy) it's the best bang for the buck on the market right now, imo. Matte 120hz 3d display and 2 most powerful gpu's in a 17" case is a rare!

Which ever one I go with will have the 4930mx from the start I rather get it now and have it covered by the warranty then go through Ebay or some other retailer and be screwed on returning it . I'm starting to more look at the P370SM because of the simplicity of it look versus the flashiness of the P375SM but there is just something about the design of it that draws me back to it.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but the webcam on the P370SM3 is 2MP frontward, and the P375SM has only a 1MP frontward and a 5MP on the back of the lid (NO IDEA WHY THIS IS THERE). So if you plan on using the webcam for anything major, that's another "design" point to think about. On the other hand, the P370SM3 has the worse touchpad, so I guess it's a hit and miss?

The 4800MQ is the best value for an SLI or xfire setup really since you can push it up an extra 400mhz.

How exactly can you overclock the 4800MQ? What program do you use? This is the cpu I got with my 370sm3 and I'd really be interested in overclocking it.

    Thanks.

Where I am from a P375sm would cost 3200 USD. That is with the intel 4700.
With the 4800 it cost 3870 USD, is it worth the price? I think its a bit harsh (You also get 32gb of ram instead of 16, but cant really see the point of it).

That is a fairly hefty jump, maybe get the 4700MQ and get the CPU elsewhere to save cash.

Basically with some tweaking it's 3.4ghz vs 3.9ghz and that will help with minimum frame rates but is not necessary.

Gaming mostly which is why I thought that it would maybe give me like 3-4 frames extra, and that is not really worth the price.
Always nice to get the opinions of people with a bit more experience, thanks :)

It's the added frame rate when you are at your lowest is mostly the biggest issue.

You might get a few more frames. But it may be a little overkill.
Using my NP9380 with 4800 CPU and one 780 no overclock with computer in performance mode. On BF3 in the gulf of omen map which is a FPS killer. Intel's XTU shows CPU only uses a little over 50% usage at 3.69GHz.

Loads across cores is something like 70% or so of 4 cores, 20% or so of 2 cores and a final 2 cores untouched (most common), or a flat ~40-60% average across all 8 (VERY rare to see this). That's how it's worked since BF:BC2 going into BF3 and even MOH Warfighter did the same thing if I remember correctly (I may be remembering incorrectly as my friend let me use it for one night only). It's why I keep wondering why faster speeds/more cores seem to help Battlefield with framerates, since it doesn't fully take advantage of ANYTHING you actually throw at it (my experience).

When you see a processor usage percentage, much like having one number representing the whole CPU it's an average.

CPUs work in the nanosecond time frame and your CPU usage is the average over say a second.

For 0.7 seconds you might be at 100% CPU usage and for the remaining 0.3 be sleeping, during that 0.7 seconds could be time sensitive tasks for spitting out frames so increasing frequency helps get those out faster.

I've been reading some reviews about P370sm, but i got a little bit scared when I read about the case. I do a lot of transportation with my laptop and I'm interested in one these because i want the 120hz, going back to the case is it has sturdy has the P170EM? or is it to fragile? I read the notebookcheck review and came with this doubts.

Anyone here with the 120hz panel? What brand/model is it?

But then wouldn't more threads help instead of high speeds still? If the other threads aren't being taken full advantage of... but I guess that's something they'd need to code into the engine; to take advantage of more than 4 cores. Maybe it does 4 highly and 2 weakly due to the x360 having only 6 CPU cores and they didn't bother to code the engine differently for the PC... hmm...

I am planning on playing games and video encoding. Can i overclock the CPU to 4.2ghz without any issues?

Is the extreme edition CPU OVERKILL for playing most games and can i get by with the 4900mq?

How can the CPU and GPU be overclocked SAFELY?

I wanted to play TOMB RAIDER on ULTIMATE with tressfx on with 60fps+ and i thought this configuration would be able to do it more easily. I figured if it could run TOMB RAIDER maxed out other games would NOT be a problem.

Any thoughts/suggestions on this configuration would be appreciated. I want this configuration bad....but thinking about price and OVERKILL.

Gonna get this set up...any thoughts? Wish me luck!!

If you're gonna aim for 60+ fps, why short yourself on the screen? I'd go for the 120hz screen, even if you're not going to use the 3D functionality, you'll still have the benefit of 120hz refresh in 2D mode. It's like night and day compared to a standard 60hz display.

hi! you have 4930mx too, did you encounter throttling?

iv been stuck at 3.3g when all cores full load @ stock (tdp stuck at 51~55w)......dont know if i got bad cpu/ram/mb or clevo did something in bios(i tried both 1.00.03 & 1.00.05)

can you monitor your machine with xtu? set back to all stock, run the xtu's stress test, see if its run at 3.7g? thanks!

btw your physics score is 9241, close to my previous [email protected] 9150, and a 3920xm@stock 3.6g scores 94xx

For gaming even the 4700MQ is good enough.

I also ordered with a single 780M and planning to add a second one in like 1-2 years. I will send it back to my reseller so they can install it.

If you plan on doing that in 1-2yrs you may find the 780M is no longer available from your reseller so plan accordingly. Once that card is replaced by the 880M and 980M most places wont have the 780M as it would have been out of production for a couple years.

Usually not worth the cost as well considering how the price does not drop that much.

My personal experience is that it cannot hold 3.7/3.8 ghz for long, not only for the TDP, but also for thermal reasons.

Even if I raise the TDP to 70/80 W, it still goes pretty fast to 90+ degrees and it throttles.

What I did for now is that I forced 4.0ghz on 4 cores, so to give a small boost to small activities, but if it runs for long at that speed, it will throttle back to 3.2/3.3 for TDP and/or thermal reasons.

I thought to re-paste to see if it increases.

I also couldn't find a proper way to downvolt it to have more thermal headroom, or to overclock it more than 4.0x4, without crashing. I tried forcing 1.167V or similar, but didn't work very well.

I would love to share some XTU settings with people with same model and 4930mx.

Do you have skype and/or gtalk to get in touch and share our settings / talk about the OC? :)

Add me on skype (luigi_lauro) or gtalk (luigi.lauro~gmail.com, ~ for @)

It all depends though. Maybe I will upgrade next year, I have no idea honestly. But when I plan to add a second GPU, I will let my reseller do it, since I will mess it up anyways.

Hello guys. I'm from Brazil and I'll go to U.S soon I think about two weeks and I'm looking for a Sager 9380 because this model have suport for 120hz monitor.

Please, I have some questions and I would be so much happy if you guys could answer me.

1- This laptop overheats with dual 780M and processor 4800?
2- What's the difference between 9390 to 9380 beyond of the 120hz display support?
    3- Which model heats less?

Please I would be a lot happy if someone could answer to all my doubts. Sorry my english. Thanks in advance. Regards, Rodrigo.

For the technical differences check the clevo user manual:

    http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftp_download.asp?sno=4555&no=1

I think they both use the same cooling solution, heatpipes are the same, although the p375sm/9390 has a new chassis that i think has a little more breathing room, although i don't know how much of a real world difference it makes.

The choice of components makes a difference, if you read the thread, quite recently, it seems that if you get a 4930mx cpu, you may experience thottling when using xtu for extended periods of time (can't recall comments on 4800mq on extended xtu use), although i can't personally confirm that, and am pretty sure it would depend on other factors too, like if you pushing dual 780m sli to the limit (gpu boost 2) at the same time, or if ambient temperature in the room is relatively high.

I think 4800mq with dual 780m sli is the sweet spot, although i am leaning towards the 4900mq. The extra price to performance isn't that great. Some people have commented on getting a 4700mq now then a year later maybe getting a 4930mx when hopefully the price falls considerably.

so you mean it can run 3.7g or even oc to 4.0g for a while, then throttle down due to fast overheat?
what bios/ec version you are on?
    thank for your help!

I believe these are Crucial M500 mSATA and I would avoid them. Anything below 480GB in the M500 line has performance issues. The M500 480GB mSATA is not available yet but should be a good drive. Much better performance can be had elsewhere, especially if you are willing to install yourself. The Plextor M5M is a solid mSATA. The Intel 525 is also a good but much more expensive and is available from Xotic too.

There are 1TB 7200RPM hard drives.

Mythlogic offer 1TB 7200 Rpm drives as well as Samsung SSD's that should perform better, you should check their offerings!

Falcon NW are so overpriced it's ridiculous but the paint job looks great

Yeah I know the Crucial M5's are at the bottom for performance but i was just gonna put games on these because if you fill them up thats when performance goes down. The 1tb 5200 rpm drives was all that XoticPC offers right now and I dont need these to be super fast right now but i figured i can upgrade these at a later date.

Mythlogic there prices were higher than Xotic but i will check and see if they will price match.

Yes, I can OC to make it run for 4.0x4 for a few seconds, but after 20-30 seconds, it will throttle down a bit.

Also at stock, it runs to 3.7 for some time, then throttles down for TDP.

BIOS/EC standard version, I will make a screen and post it.
