and there are two type of p37xsmx's master gpu heatsink: nvidia seperated model/amd combined model
1.the amd combined model is arguably powerful than nvidia seperated model and p1xxsmx model
2.these master gpu heatsink can perform better on p370smx than p375sm with a slightly modification

I turn off post proccess AA because it makes the game a little too blurry for me, but with that on or off I get absolutely no difference in fps, just uses a little more memory. In BF3 it did though. I do have a slight OC on my GPUs, but it shouldn't have been enough to garner a full 30fps increase. I very rarely hit under 80fps, and it's almost exclusively when I stream it, and that does cut my framerate a bit.

EDIT: Forgot I'm not using supersampling, mine's at 100%. That ought to cut framerate down if you use more than 100%. If you adjusted that, it might be why. My cards are still clocked under gtx 680s on the core.

Ah, did not know this. Hmm... now you're making me want to acquire the AMD heatsink and use it... even though my cards are already very cool.

Honestly, there are only a couple games that ever make my GPU hit the temp limit. And by a couple I mean one. Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut, and only when it's a hot daytime. And that only uses 1 card, and almost constantly at 99% straight out. And it's an AMD evolved title, forcing SLI actually gives worse performance, though it does split the load between cards.

I really don't think I need to upgrade my cooling for my GPUs; on really hot days BF4 and stuff MIGHT make them hit 86-88 degrees on the main card, but that's with a 100 core 500 memory OC already, and again, it's in VERY hot daytime like 36+ degrees celcius @ 80-100% humidity.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Side note: I re-maxed out BF4 with the extra AA, and SOMETIMES I go under 70fps... but it's only for a couple seconds. If not streaming, I *NEVER* drop under 60 in this fashion and even going under 77fps is very very rare, and usually with a lot of crap on the screen. Borderless windowed harms performance, without reducing the load on the system. Should not do this, since second screen is attached regardless and still shows in fullscreen. Did not try windowed mode, though that's forced to 1280 x 720p anyway. But yeah, pretty much never drop under 60 really. Even recording and stuff.

I was getting between 40 and 60fps with a single tweaked card in the beta at the highest settings.

Was it on the 32 or 64 player server? I would say 40 is the limit for a good gaming experience on BF, and anything above 60fps is really good, with a stable temp.

    Hi All
Does anyone know that which resellers sell 770m SLI p370sm? I searched pro-star, xotic, gentech. They all just sell 765m, 8970m, 780m SLI. Don't know why there is no 770mSLI in the market.
    Thanks

That's some nice fps for the 64 player server, but the thing is I've played battlefield 3 on my desktop and you really can't see the difference between the High and Ultra settings, very little to be honest. Is that the same on BF4?

That's pretty much the case with all games. Going between High and Ultra you'll see the tiny details a lot better. Snow falling, wind sweeping leaves, shadow details, etc... It's to get the fully immersed effect. High is plenty good for most people and is beautiful.Might not be able to see some of the effects on a display that doesn't show it too well. The difference is there and it's in the details.

I have Anti-aliasing deferred and post turned up to max. When I mentioned "Maxed out settings" I don't exclude anything. Are you running maxed out or custom settings?

New problem with my system that I have had to put in an RMA Technical Support Ticket for.

    Thunderbolt Port :(

I connected my Thunderbolt Display to my Thunderbolt Port expecting blissful connectivity as I do my Mac book pro's and to my surprise, nothing happens. Device manager shows a banged out "Base System Device" and those that I have talked to so far have no clue what I need to do. My searches on the net have resulted in zero net gain so far.

Figured this out - I had to pop in the CD that was shipped with my system and install the Thunderbolt Port driver. This was part of the base install, which seems odd to me.

I also had to hunt on the net for some very obscure sources to get the Ethernet and camera to work as well on the Thunderbolt Display. So there is a little more leg work to do beyond the CD.

I agree, when I called, they seemed to have very little working knowledge of the Thunderbolt Display or the Port.

The main question I received was "Does it say: no connection on the screen?". I kindly informed the tech that that's now how a Thunderbolt Display works. It's simply blacked out until you connect it, and it's instantly on. There is no in-between states.

I find it extremely frustrating that I have to buy a Laptop worth 2000+ dollars via a wired bank transfer (because International Credit Cards are not accepted) , and not have an Original Invoice or Bill, that I can claim my purchase with.

I called three resellers (XoticPC, Powernotebook,Sager.com) and all of them gave me the "You have to TRUST the company that you are buying from !! "
I find it absurd that I have to wire them the money and hope that I will receive a unit in return , all of them told that they had hundreds of international orders , and Mr. Tony Huang from Sager even told me that their company is running for a long time and I should trust them because of the BBB accreditation !

I am really disappointed in the way a company puts their costumers in doubt and uncertainty .
Now I have to buy it using a paypal account , and send it to me to my country (then I have to pay the extra taxes) even though am coming to the US very soon and they can easily send me the package to a UPS outlet .

Make sure you have the Hotkey drivers installed. Then you press Fn + / (Above the 8 on the numberpad) to bring up the software.

    Hello again,

I don't believe you addressed this concern in our PM's between us. We can provide you what we call an estimate. Can't provide you an invoice until the machine is shipped since we allow order changes and don't want false invoices to be floating around. This will show the item being purchased, upgrade items, and the final quoted cost that we'd also provide you via email with payment instructions. I'm sure you can also ask around here and have many international customers, all having been in the same position as you before, and see that we're all pretty reputable and have no intention of stealing your money and not providing the machine to you.

Just put in an order to Xotic today for a 9380.... This will be a huge upgrade because I've been using a 5 year old base model Inspriron to a dual GPU machine. Ordered a crossfire setup with upgraded thermal paste (I used arctic silver in a desktop in 2008 and it still seems to be working, I wonder how though). The 1tb hard drive was on backorder but I didn't want to wait.

They quoted 5 - 16 days builds time... Hopefully mine is pretty simple... There are no xpc services I'm using so I am hoping they are overestimating build times. (few people complain when something is early).

Still, this will be a hard wait... I've been waiting for 18 months to scrap up the money for this.... Hopefully it will be worth it.

Congrats on the order. Since you don't have any extra services which require it to ship to us you'll be on the short end of that, I'd say 5-10 business days then it will ship out.

Good timing on order placement. I paid cash for my NP9380-S from powernotebooks on October 21st and it still hasn't shipped. I didn't order anything special on it either. They said it was back ordered with Sager until Monday (Today). So again, good timing on the order.

I have a colleague that is even more impatient than I am and he has been drooling over this 9380 for about a 2 weeks now. I know that there are a lot of resellers on here that might be able to answer this question. Does Sager ship faster to certain resellers like Mythlogic or XoticPC or is it first come, first served?

Well my latest post I changed everything to max (but the resolution scaling is still at 100%). I get ~83 fps on average, and I sometimes drop to about 77 or so, but not usually. I also go up to 90-150 sometimes, but again, not that often. I HAVE dropped to the 60s sometimes, but only with extreme explosions and stuff going on, and I *never* fall below 60fps. Maybe with resolution scaling my performance would be far worsened, I'm sure, but normally the game plays perfectly fine.

It's mostly stock but the big thing in excited for is the crossfire 8970m setup which seems to be capable of running every thing at full settings at 60 fps. I read about the driver issues but I consider that a temporary problem that happened regardless of which card... The micro stuttering I am not worried much about because I have seen videos and I don't notice it much. Nor do I plan on letting the fps get that low either. (I just went to the tech support forums for the games that are really important and searched for driver issues.)

    P370SM 4700MQ, 8 GB DDR3, Crossfire HD 8970m, 750gb @ 7200rpm Samsung 84 256 GB. (ordered ssd from amazon).

Thanks for your help by the way too man.

Yes I'm struggling to contain my excitement. I have a huge backlog of games I never got to play and I am probably going to have the biggest jump in gaming capability in my whole life. The only problem is, how to deal with the waiting. Damn you Tom Petty.

Please let us know how you like the AMD CF setup when you get it. I personally would love to see how well it does with some of the new games. I just played Battlefield 4 last night on my AMD 7790 and it was amazing. Oh, this should make you happy. I have a friend that works at AMD ( just down the street from me) and he just told me at lunch the other day, that they just came out with the newest Catalyst 13.11 (still in Beta though)and it fixes the micro stuttering issue at low FPS. Or, so he says. But like you said, I wouldn't expect the FPS to get low enough for you see anything anyway. I am excited for you. :D

So for the first time, I saw a game use up all 4GB (3,948MB to be exact) of my video card memory. Who wants to guess what the game is? Here's a hint! (Don't buy this for PC, by the way). It is pretty here though.

Sup Man, same as Blakestr i have a CF, and battlefield 4 everything is ultra with no fps drops very stable and fluid!!! Some games we have some flashing and glitches that resolves after ALT+TAB, like LOL, How to Survive (good game by the way), Skyrim working awesome too, CS GO everything in ultra with no problems, Castlevania Lords Of Shadow all high (Fking awesome game) but i play more retro like game (most from steam and desura) they all work well, i'm looking for a good and different RPG game (hard to find) little tired of western/rogue like rpg....

As it goes if you don't mind AMD driver go for it i'm using the latest 13.11 Beta 8 (I think)

Hi guys, just something that I am curious about.

Do the new P370SM/P375SM have problem with Haswell CPU throttling/being underpowered with the stock BIOS? If anyone uses ThrottleStop or Intel XTU, I'd like to ask, what's the stock Processor Current Limit (in XTU) or the Package Current Limit (in ThrottleStop)?

On the new machine, one can still flash the BIOS with a Prema modded BIOS right?

The game is probably dumb and just allocates all the vram without needing it.

There are no haswell throttle issues on the other brands, only alienware set their stock current so low, I believe it's around 100-112A on the other brands.

What game was that D2 Ultima? Btw BF4 is using 3GB of vRAM, and I think games in the future will eventually use more of vRAM than what we are seeing today.

Sorry this might be a noob question, but I am not that big of a gamer. Could you tell me what the game is, so I don't make a mistake in buying it?

Also, on a completely unrelated topic. D2Ultima, I noticed in your system description that you have the Plextor M5M SSD and I wanted to know if I will have any issues with it as a boot drive for Windows 8?
I am thinking about picking one up this week and using the msata slot for the boot drive, but everyone is telling me not to because it's not as fast as the 2.5" bays. So, I wanted to get a real world opinion on speed differences from someone who actually uses one.
    Thanks

I placed my order with Abe at Powernotebooks.com (who was very helpful and informative.) for the Sager NP9380-S.
NBR user wraven tracked XoticPC's start to finish time on here and I thought it would be helpful for others to see how the whole process works using PowerNotebooks.com. Keep in mind that this is a stock system with very few upgrades/alterations/embellishments. So, if you plan on skinning the system, or laser etching or custom paint, this is probably going to add a few days to the overall build time. I will update the post as new information comes in. These are the specs on the laptop build:
    1 Sager NP9380 - GTX 780 - 3D Special - Gaming Laptop
    17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) 120Hz 3D 72% NTSC Color Gamut Matte Display (Model LP173WF2 (TP)(B1)) w/ 1 pair nVIDIA 3D Glasses
30 Day "No Dead Pixel" Guarantee
    nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 256bit w/4.0GB GDDR5
    Intel Core i7-4700MQ (2.4~3.4GHz) w/6M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads
    Sager Thermal Compound
    16GB (2x8GB) DDR3/1600 Dual Channel Memory
750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

So let's see what the process is like....shall we.

10/21/2013 - Placed order at 10:35am pst. and received confirmation of order specs at 10:36am pst
10/21/2013 - 11:12am Received call from Charlotte to confirm order and give instructions on how to pay with cash to expedite the processing. (which I requested) I also got a email with all specs and written instructions as well.
10/21/2013 - 1:01 pm. Made deposit for laptop in company account and received receipt of Deposit. At 1:23pm I called to confirm payment was received and confirmation was given.
10/21/2013 - 5:40 pm. Received email confirmation stating that, "Your order has been given to the SAGER Production Department and can usually ship within 5-7 business days." This is a fast start for PowerNotepooks.com. I want you to notice that only 4 hours passed from payment confirmation to order placement...WOW!
10/31/2013 - 3:46pm. Emailed Abe at Powernotebooks.com to find out why Notebook has not shipped.
11/1/2013 - 9:34am. Emails me back stating that the Laptop is on Back order with Sager and that it will ship on Tuesday November 5th or Wednesday November 6th. (Personal Note: Great start for Powernotebooks.com, but really wish they would have emailed me sooner than 11 days after payment to tell me that it was back ordered.)
11/5/2013 - 11:57pm. Emailed Powernotebooks to get an update and to make sure that Sager is shipping my notebook.
11/6/2013 - 10:08am. Received email from Powernotebooks.com stating that Sager is backordered on the 750GB 7200rpm hard drives with no ETA. Then asked if I wanted to get a slower 1TB 5400RPM HDD instead. I then responded just minutes later, stating that I didn't care what HDD they put into it, because I am going to take it out anyway and put in my SDD's. (personal note: I also added to that email, my frustration with that fact that it is probably going to be 3 weeks before I get this laptop. Day SEVENTEEN and counting.)

will update as soon as info becomes available.

I wonder why they didn't tell you on the 21st that the drive was on back order? I wonder if this is a Sager or PowerNotebooks comunication problem.

I think it was both of their issues. Sager should have told Powernotebooks that the system was back ordered when they placed the order in the first place. According to Powernotebooks, Sager did not tell them until 10 days after the order was placed. And, Powernotebooks.com should have checked on the order before the 10 days to see why it hadn't shipped. Abe at Powernotebooks has been very helpful though. He has been very quick to reply when I Do send him emails.

You know what the funny thing about all this is?...I ordered the laptop from them because hey were really close to me geographically, (They are about an hour and a half drive from me) and I thought it would shave some time off of the delivery. Also because, if I ever needed to get any service done on it, shipping wouldn't be as much money and I would get a quicker turn around time. I guess I was wrong on that one. Hopefully they will be able to get it out to me today so that I might get it before the weekend. But with my luck, it wont' ship till Friday and I won't get it till Monday or Tuesday ( another 5 or 6 days). :(

Well, if you need it repaired, you can drive it to them. So that is good. I am sure it will be fine once you get it. I do find it interesting that they would finger point to Sager. Kind of biting the hand that feeds you...

This is the third Sager I have owned. This is the fist time I have ever ordered a custom version of it from a reseller. I always bought them prebuilt and upgraded them myself. I honestly didn't think it would take 3 weeks to get it especially since I didn't order anything special. Just the stock system.
I did just get an email from Powernotebooks. Looks like Sager is going to ship it to them today or tomorrow, with the slower drive. Then, once Power Notebooks gets it, they will ship it to me. Looks like it's not going to be here till Monday or Tuesday. I will update my post when they send me the tracking information. Until then, I am not holding my breath.

Quick Poll: How long did it take you to get your Sager?

It's an FPS/RPG but Vampire Bloodlines was on of the most underrated games to come out in the last decade... It is on the source engine but you owe yourself a playground... It says five bucks on Steam and we'll worth it with the latest unofficial patch.

I heard there is a Morrowwind mod that remakes the original game in the Skyrim engine too.

I am trying to get my ducks in a row for when my NP9380-S gets here. Is there any software/drivers I should download and install when it arrives?

I know about the new hotkey driver and the Intel ac7260 driver. But someone mentioned a bios mod and a vbios upgrade. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will need the vbios unless the manufacture has some sort of update that works.
    (SOLVED) Fix for Clevo P370SM3 & SAGER NP9380-S 120Hz/3D SLI Flickering/Scanlines

This one is optional but it is a mod for the lighting effects for the keyboard. Up to you if you want it, but it does add some cool effects.
    [DEVELOPMENT] custom light controller

That is all you should really need. Also get an overclocking program if you are going to overclock. Other than that, just make sure your drivers are current.

BudMarLy has a thread on flickering issues, where a Prema vbios fixes the issue. It is sort of a OC vbios, so not sure if it causes warranty issues. I would wait to see if you have the issue. To get the vbios you will need to join techinfernal forums and make five good posts before you can download it.

On a different note, you can start downloading software, like antivirus, to a flash drive to have ready.
