I'd have gone with the 4800MQ and a smaller SSD if it meant you could have gotten the second 780M.

    +1

I would have gone for 8GB of RAM as well if it meant I could get a second GPU!

PS. My P370SM running like a beauty here, updated the Catalyst drivers to 13.11 and all is well. 45FPS in Crysis on Very High, plus temps are down by about 2-3C. :D

Sorry havent posted a review yet guys, been busy all weekend completing Metro 2033 and yesterday eve went onto Crysis. My backlog seems to be clearing haha

Played alot of heavily modded Skyrim lately with Phinix ENB. Runs like a charm. Around 50FPS (I know it's not the glorious 60FPS, but in a game like Skyrim it doesn't matter that much).

Guys, i've read that nvidia can make every 2d game a 3d game?
    is that true?
so in theory it will work even with doom and wolfenstain?
and soliter? or are there any restrictions?

Funniest post I've seen on NBR since registering!!! LMAO! :p

Why on earth would someone want to play Solitaire in 3D?? Wow you're really gonna push the boundaries of the FPS from your Nvidia card lol

Hi I noticed recently that when I close the laptop cover even if the computer is configured to Hibernate/Sleep I still hear the fans running a little

Any one have this isue or is there anything else I need to configure. To prevent this I shut it down but I would prefer just closing the lid... Thanks:thumbsup:

Actually i7-4700QM can handle 2x780M SLI without bottleneck too, there is no reviews denying it. 4800QM is the same i7 with slightly overlocked frequencies, cache is the same, game perfomance is the same, it's not worth additional ~180$.

I can see a case for the 4800MQ, 3.9ghz could help keep those two 780Ms fueled as we move forward compared to the max 3.4ghz of the 4700MQ.

4800MQ turbo frequency is 3.7Ghz for one core or am I wrong?

The 4700MQ can have +200mhz added to all turbo states, the 4800MQ can add +400mhz, for both I was quoting the maximum tweaked 4 core turbo mode since that's the state you spend in when you need the performance.

This, and I have seen a slight increase in fps in some benchmarks for some games. So I thought the sale upgrade price of $135 was worth the upgrade for me. But as said the i7-4700mq is enough for most, and handles 780M in sli. I don't think you can wrong with either.

For me it was worth it too.

I see the 4700MQ as an entry processor.

    I agree! :)

Much more future proof for very little extra money.

Especially if one is considering 2x GPUs, then this is the lowest CPU for that setup.

    Yes that's right.

I agree with this statement. other than the clock (which is only 300Mhz higher without Overclocking). I have a i7-4700MQ and it has run flawlessly with every game and application I have thrown at it, even in 3D!. Most of the time, when I am multitasking, I see the turbo boost monitor go up to 3.6 all the time. My other system Monitors show the same results and I haven't even overclocked it yet (no need to).

If you are set on a faster Processor for so called, "future proofing", then I would go with the 4900 series (if you can afford it). At least then your getting more cache and a center cut wafer processor (more stability for overclocking because the die has more material on it). But again, that is the cost benefit ratio if you plan on keeping the computer for 3-5 years. If you spread out the upgrade cost over the 3-5 years then your looking at about $96-$160 per year (assuming that the upgrade cost $480).

Agreed that the wait is the hardest part. I just got mine the other day with i7-4800MQ, 16gb ram, 256 ssd + 1T hdd, 2x 780M, and win7. I decided to get this beast around the end of june but was on a deployment so I waited until Nov to place a order. Well worth the wait and research.

I'm waiting on mine as well to do a review. But I think these single person reviews help to see what a normal customer's(with differing levels of knowledge/expertise) thoughts are.

I've still to do a review of my XMG P723, I just want to spend some time with it first before I go on to do a full review.

Btw, my 8970M seem to be topping out at about 15fps on Splinter Cell Blacklist on Ultra. Not sure what's going on yet...

EDIT: Ignore the above, pretty sure it's because I didn't reboot the notebook after it went into hibernation. Or it could be a Catalyst 13.11 problem, so I might revert to the drivers posted on MYsn.de.

Just by curiosity do you have a link to the thread you talk about since I dont speek German they would be hard to find :)

Btw I dont have any issues with crossfire 8970 except the 99% second cpu usage after i get off my laptop from sleep. Just need to disable crossfire renable to fix or to disable ulps but well i dont like the solution much since it's not clear what it really does.

    Thanks

Played Metro Last Light on my P370SM tonight, it looks amazing and runs at very high between 35 and 60 FPS:

Still gobsmacked by the performance of my new notebook!

Oh and Splinter Cell Blacklist looks and plays amazing as well on high quality! Will take some screenshots of that tomorrow night. :)

A friend of mine got P375SM / EUROCOM X7 yesterday too. There is a problem with illuminated keyboard and touchpad. Once he istalled OS Windows 7 it worked fine (glowing blue), after he installed Hotkey AP from the eurocom official website, the keyboard and touchpad ceased glowing, it glows until the Control Center is not loaded after starting Windows, and turn's off after it loaded. The red LED rear lights works fine, LED equaliser too, even power button glows and it's colour is customizable through the "backlit keyboard application". Keyboard and touchtad backlit doesn't turn on through Fn*. He upgraded to Windows 8, and istalled all drivers for W8 from the driver disc (came with notebook), no effect, the problem is the same.
    Any thought's?

Wow that looks wicked mate, wish I had the cash to get 2 GPUs. Guess one will do me for now, has ran everything I wanted so far.

I will be asking MYsn guys to put another HD 8970 at some point though.

You didn't say that about my system when I ordered it :(

Hmm sounds like it's definitely set to off in control centre.

When he turn it on/off in cotrol center -> the rear red lights, power button and LED equalizer turn's on/off , but keyboard and touchpad backlit remain off.

He tried to uninstall the Hotkey AP, and after reboot backlit keyboard and touchpad glowing blue all the time, but the colour can't be changed or turned off.

I know one of the dealers offers the option of putting the MSI steelseries keyboard in at purchase time. I forget the dealer, nor do I know the model number of the keyboard. But you could check around, and I remember it was also mentioned in a review. Ah, my poor memory...

Ah right, well I checked around and none of the usual Clevo builders seem to have an option for SteelSeries keyboards.

Ah so it wouldn't fit into the P370SM?
