Its the same screen that they have been using since the P170HM3 days, the LG LP172WF2 screen, its got great angles, and we think its a really nice screen especially in Matte. Compared to the 60 glossy its way better, for the sammy series 7, we don't actually sell those so I can't compare it to that.

The screen has also been used (So you can look up reviews), the P170HM3, the P370EM, P370EM3, P570WM, P570WM3, and this guy the P370SM3, all the same screen (the LG above)

    thanks

I'd try shooting them another email asking for the files, they likely got bombarded with NBR members asking for that and a few slipped through the cracks of replies, happens to the best of us.

That'll make five :) Don't really have time to keep chasing this... I'm gonna chalk it up to overloaded and bad CS at this point.

Is Mythlogic the only US reseller currently offering 120Hz displays? I don't see it anywhere else.

So Metabox are going to replace my P375SM with a new one.
They dont have any samsung 120g 840s in stock so they will be fitting a plextor 128g M5M instead. Am I going to see any performance gain from the plextor to the samsung? The drive will be used for OS and maybe one game only. Also is plextor a decent brand, dont know much about them. Thanks.

    Hey People,

Im was wondering if anyone has been having an issue with the backlight on the keyboard working properly in Windows 8 Pro? Just got my NP9380 on Monday the 22nd and it looks like my lights work when i boot up but as soon as the Hotkey program loads when logged into the OS they shutoff and wont come back on. all other functions work. when i bring up the control panel and press the backlight on/off hotkey the backlight icon disable and enables appropriately but i got no light. Ive contacted sager and ive updated both EC and BIOS as well as Reinstalled Win 8.Ive also updated to the newest driver on the website which crashes on Boot up so i have to revert back to the CD supplied driver. i cant seem to get it working. Does anyone else have this issue? or a possible fix.

It's an SSD. Unless you're copying files from the same SSD or one SSD to another, you're not going to notice much difference, unless you're a supreme extreme god/enthusiast. Like how I was able to tell the MSMC in Black Ops 2 had a faster movement speed compared to other SMGs whenever I picked one up (102% versus 100%) during that one patch without ever reading that they did that mistakenly, where most other people didn't know a thing.

If you're that intimate with hard drives and hard drive speeds, then you could probably tell. If you're like 100% of the rest of the world, you won't be able to tell XD.

How is the battery life on np 9380 with 780m sli? Can you disable both video cards and just use the integrated GFX to prolong battery life?

Integrated card usage is 100% impossible with this model. The battery life when you're not really doing anything though has been reported to be around 2.5 hours. So without gaming on battery, expect say... at least 2 hours of battery life?

hmm... I remember hearing that the new AW m18x with 780m sli can manually switch between integrated and dedicated gfx, so I didn't think switching in 9380 would be a problem.

They're two different configurations of the hardware. AW has a specific hardware design that basically acts as a manual switch as to how the GPUs handle the information. As far as I'm aware they're the only ones that implement this, haven't heard about it specifically on the new models though.

I just recieved my NP9390 yesterday (I ordered on June 19th) with CrossfireX 8970M's.

I'm pretty happy with performance. Here's a couple 3Dmark results

    Stock settings: P10346
    50mhz GPU overclock: P10534

I was hoping that someone like HTWingNut could chime in and help me understand something:

I was stress testing my cpu with Prime95 and I noticed that my clock speed would cap at 2.89-2.99Ghz...
Is this normal? I though quad core overclock on this machine was 3.2Ghz...
I also came across a thread where someone was stating how they put custom settings on their 4700mq to reach 58w instead of 47w and that solved the issue of Prime95 running in a downclocked state... should I concern myself with this?

    Edit:

Link to post from the above statement: Link Here.

    Edit:

After looking around the forum I came across some thread talking about ThrottleStop and XTU. So it looks like the proper way to get move power out of these chips is to actually UNDERvolt? Anyone have any guides or general ballpark figures for what options and steps to take to undervolt properly and get the full 3.2ghz out of 4cores?

New AWs still use this design, in fact, all of them do now (except for the AW17 3D of course).

I'm sure they do, just hadn't seen anything on it specifically as it's decently rare to talk to someone who has actually received their machine from Dell just yet. And I don't dare venture to the AW forums, it's a dark place over there.

Lol Derek, there is a price/power/PCB space price to be paid for a switching design so it's not a simple decision to include it or not.

So I am probably gonna buy a Clevo P375S very soon, and just have a couple of questions.

I see a people talking about a bios change by sager, giving you the possibility to turn off the light (thank god). But i guess with my luck that its not possible with the Clevo machines?

I am going with 780m SLI, and just wonder how the whole driver situation is ?
I would like to go with Win 7, but It looks like there is a driver problem there?

    Hey peeps,

Finally got my laptop back! Seems to be working fine, haven't really ran any games yet.
Wanted to know if it's safe to install the 320.49 WHQL drivers, been reading some threads but can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Was hoping you good peeps here could provide some good insight. So...
Safe? Better? Worse? I'm currently running 311.27.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

No driver problems anymore for 780M SLI from what I've seen. nVidia came through already.

Clevo are the barebones. Rebranders (Sager, Mythlogic, Eurocom, etc) often make their own custom bioses for the machines; so it's entirely dependent on the reseller. Just ask your reseller if they have the option (most likely they will)

I purchased mine with Windows 7, it came all set-up with drivers, so I'm guessing someone has the drivers for it. Unfortunatly I had the wrong hard drive installed initially, got it swapped for free, then had to stick Win7 on myself. Could not get ethernet drivers working, and couldnt get the keyboard hotkeys program working.

I bought and installed Win8 Pro 64bit and have had no problems at all with drivers. Just a pity I have to get used to an OS that was created with tablets, not PC's, in mind

I can vouch for this. I am running the 326.19 Beta drivers on mine and they are perfect. Aside from Metro : Last Light, I haven't had any problems.

My next question is: What can I overclock my graphics cards with? What have people on the forums found to be the best. I have a little experience with Precision and Afterburner.

Also I noticed that my heatsink grills have the model number 370sm on them, I thought the 375sm has a brand new cooling system?

According to Meaker, the P370SM, P370SM3 and P375SM all ended up with the same internals (board, cooling, layout, etc) and the ONLY difference is the cosmeticness. So to all wanting to buy the P370SM and wanted better cooling so wanted to opt for a P375SM, there's no downside to the P370SM

So are there any micro stuttering issues with the 780m sli? I remember the old Nvidia cards (probably even the 600 series) had some pretty serious micro stuttering issues, but not sure about the newest ones.

I have seen a lot of talk about this and can't really find anything definite. Is there a 120hz screen sold by anyone that works in the 9390-S? Would the 120hz from the 9370 work by chance?

Also, there is a lot of talk about the bios and even a recent question. Does anyone actually have the bios update that turns off the light bar on the speakers? If so - where can I find it?

    Thanks for your help!

The 120hz screens have a different connector, they have a 50 pin and the others have a 40 pin connector. So you just cannot install it in a regular NP9370, NP9390 or NP9380 model.

Yes the NEW bios update for the NP9390 is out. Contact your dealer or reseller for this.... :)

Just go the the nVidia website Drivers | GeForce and download the beta drivers. As I said in my previous post, they are fine. I will post up 3dMark 13 scores tonight.

On a seperate point, how can i get Intel XTU profile to be loaded upon turning on the laptop. Mine keeps reseting back to default.

cyricc Nope, just use FN+1 to crank the fans up on MAX if needed. Other than that it's just AUTO mode. Why do you need it, is the laptop overheating?

I bought the P375SM with two SSDs (crucial m4 256GB) I initially planned to use one for Linux (work) and another one for Windows 8 (gaming) but then I became interested in raid this disks (raid 0).

I've been reading that SSDs doesn't support TRIM in raid mode. But some new controllers seems to be able to and I'm a bit confused at this point.

If I'm going to be able to have a trim enabled SSD raid will depend of the brand (crucial, Intel, Samsung...) or is entirely dependable of the controller (in this case, as far as I understood, the laptop motherboard / bios)?

Do you guys have experience using raid for SSDs on this machine?

To resellers... Are there any news about P375SM with 3D display? Tnx

Okay thanks...but you said NP9370...my NP9370 has a 120hz screen in it - that's what brought the question about. I wanted to know if I could take the 120 out of the NP9370 and place it in the NP9390. So with that information - any idea?

And thanks on the bios too! I emailed Xotic - lets see if they respond. Why if it's available, must we go through a reseller instead of Sager though? Seems strange that they don't post it on their download page.

ALL NP9390's that have shipped up to now have the 40 pin connector. Very soon there may be NP9390's and or NP9380's that WILL have the 50 pins if one orders the 120hz screens, for example a 3D model.

Yes if you have a SAGER serial number then they will send you the bios. Send your laptop serial number to [email protected] and ask for it.... :)

    Hi all,

After reading 29 pages of this post i still have not gotten a clear answer to my question.

My question is this: does the Clevo P370SM now have the upgraded cooling thats in the 375sm?

I ask becasue which ever has the better cooling i am going to go with. My alienware R3 died on me and I am so done with dell/alienware i dont even want to look at them again.

Maybe a silly question but... when you say "i read 385w max", where do you get this specific value?

I'm asking cause I'm considering to buy a Kill-a-Watt to measure the power usage. I really dislike the idea of using two PSUs.

DGDXGDG The thing here is that OC'ed 3940XM to 4.6Ghz+ can draw up to 150W by itself, also he's got the core on the GPU's OC'ed to 1.1Ghz+ as well) If you have dual PSU and little more room temp wise, crank the voltage to 1.075mV and add another 20Mhz on the core!

385w+ read from plug in watt meter, as the ac adapter efficiency 80~90%, system consume about 330w

So i want to back track tothe topicof the cooling system in the P370SM. on page 28 someone said that they now are all the same. So before i bought a P370SM i decided to contact XoticPC. This is what they said.

    Colin Shorter: Hello,

I am looking at purchasing the Sager NP9380 from you guys and i have a few questions.

    1. Is the model of the P370SM have the updated heatsink system that is from the P375SM?

    2. Why does a 780 SLI setup cost $850 extra when one 780M costs 250.00 extra? Does that include the price for the extra power supply needed to run it?

    3. Could i get the 330W power supply instead of the 300W please?
    no i have not
Josh: ok great, just a moment
    Colin Shorter: okay np
Josh: Ok sorry about the wait
The cooling system is similar but not the same
370 has the older heat sink
Colin Shorter: its np, so is it the cooling system where the cpu has the 3 pipes and one of them branches to the gpu heatsink?
Josh: The Second 780 costs 850 because we can only credit you for 1 card.
You get credit for the AMD card
    Colin Shorter: oh okay
Josh: Sager only offers the 300w PS
Colin Shorter: but if one 780m requires 110W thats 220W, then 50W for the cpu, then 25W for the mobo, then 8W for each drive ( ill have 2) thatsabove 300W so how will the system run with out downclocking or being unstable?

    Hope this helps a little

Any other reply from Josh after the last question? DGDXGDG read 385W using an watt meter and two PSUs and I'm starting to consider to switch the 780M SLI for 765MX SLI (same P375SM chassis).

Edit: but in my case they confirmed to provide a 330W PSU. Anyway even 330W is not enough according to this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=726224

HTWingNut believes the GPUs alone consume 240W. It's only 90W for everything else.

At stock speeds the 330W will do fine, even with a small OC too.

I kept looking for pictures of the P370SM and P375SM, and the internal pictures look the same, and meaker said they're the same. I don't know if Sager is using leftover heatsinks from the P370EM or something if they're using the older heatsink design. The power bricks also should come directly from clevo, and thus should be 330W.

I suggest contacting Sager directly and asking them what they provide, as Xotic PC simply liaises with Sager for the machine for you, like a mediator. It just comes out cheaper with a little better support XD.

Either way, they SHOULD be the same machine. I'm going with the P370SM3 on that bases, because I want that 120Hz screen to get my complete package. If Sager really can't get you what you want, why not ask Mythlogic? They get Clevo barebones directly and build them, therefore they ought to know if the heatsink/etc is the same. Sadly there aren't any comparing reviews out yet (that I can find) so it's more difficult to say with 100% certainty, but since both Meaker and Myth are sellers, we could well ask them

Thanks Meaker, after reading your post I tried to sum the components consumption.

    244 GTX 780M (2x)
    47 I7 4900MQ
    7 SSD (2x)
    15 LCD
    5,4 RAM (4x)
    2,7 Chipset HM87

    321,1

I'm new to all this, but seems to be OK. Am I forgetting any power hungry component? Thanks

I went ahead and ordered the 370 with the 120 screen. To me the 375 is just bone ugly and cheap looking anyway so I will live with whatever cooling is in there. Not sure who Sager is using for design consulting but red tail lights and a weird looking symbol in the middle of the trackpad is not going to endear you to many mainstream people. Don't even get me started on the audio lights. They seem to be taking advice from someone who's brain has been frozen in the 60's.

Anyway I will keep you guys posted on things when I get it. Got the 120 screen and dual 780's.
