So I finally pulled the trigger.
A few hours ago I began the waiting period in order to ascend to the Dreadnought Class laptop realm. The EVOC P870TM1 will soon be mine.

Quick back-brief: I was once running with the Alienware pack back in the day and still own a few, PGA days were great. I grew up, joined Clevo. My first purchase, however, was a mis-step. I started with the P650HS - which is great by the way but it just doesn't do the job. So now I am finally riding the bull.

Quick thanks to @ Donald@HIDevolution for the safety tips and recommendations. As always, a pleasure doing business.

I am excited to see this Warfighter in action. So far I only hear camp fire stories and murmurings of mad-men that have been exposed to its brutal power. Lets hope she lives up to to the legend.

Shout out to @ Phoenix , your NVME you sold me is still rocking like a champ. I intend to migrate her over to her new chassis.

I lurk a lot here but just wanted to thank all of those that share and contribute knowledge, It is a real gift.

    SPECS:
    8700k Delided, blahse blah.
Twin 1080 SLI with Therm-GRIZ and Fuji-baby as well as Vapor chamber block
4k res screen cus im that asshole.
    Display Cal
    Intel 9260
    2x 950 pro NVME, 2TB micron 1100 SSD with a 1TB classic spinner drive.
No mem - will be 32gb of RIPJAWS 2666
    780 Watt Nuclear power brick
And rush order, because I am an impatient New Yorker.

Im not allowed to sell yet, as my posts are not at the 100 required, but if you know anyone who is interested in a 650 listed in my sig with another year of warranty, let me know.

    Rodger, out.

I recently purchased a P870TM1 from Hidevolution (still in the queue). I'm curious what kind/type of SLI bridge does it use?

This is my first time going the SLI route.

    From this chart:

what is it equivalent to? Maybe @Meaker@Sager or @Donald@HIDevolution can answer this :)

This is a great question, what would the bandwidth qualify as.

Cool! I guess this means it supports 5K. Do you have a 5K monitor to test?

Lol no, but benchmarks have shown the tiny performance gain for being HB in the past compared to desktops.

    Quick question,

I occasionally see people list their 1080s as "GTX 1080N".
What does this N identifier signify? Also, in regards to VBIOS for the1080s, is this something that must be flashed onto the card, or is this something that comes with the "Prema package".

Last question, what is the maximum write and read speeds i can achieve with a raid zero array of 950 pros. I read, or at least I think I did, that 3500 is the max. any truth to this?

N basically means "notebook" or "Notebook version."

IIRC the 'N' designation isn't an official one created by Nvidia but one by the consumer base to help denote between laptop and desktop versions.

    Er...those are 3 quick questions :)

Some forum members put the N just to distinguish between desktop and laptop versions...N being laptop. It is not part of the official NVIDIA name.

Your vBIOS will already be flashed, it is not part of the Custom Prema BIOS.

PCIe 3.0 x4 has a maximum speed of 1,000MB/s per lane, so 4x lanes = 4,000MB/s. However you will never achieve maximum due to shall we call it 'overhead', so you can expect around 3,700MB/s as achievable. Therefore the Sequential Read Speed won't be improved by enough to notice in RAID 0 but the Sequential Write Speed will be around 80% of double.

I don't even think there's a custom vbios for the pascal cards at all.

That is correct. The vBIOS is locked by NVIDIA, and I do not believe anyone has been able to create a custom vBIOS as a result.

Looking at P870TM1 owners signature here - I don't see anyone owning Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2666Mhz. 4x 16GB of this RAM should work on P870TM1 right?

    Awsome.

I would be blatantly lying if I said this is the last question, so ill ask another.

@Donald@HIDevolution, If, in the future, I re-pasted the GPU interface with Liquid metal, would that void any warranty. I know that you guys use Gelid on the GPU interface.

We no longer use Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU, we only use Grizzly Conductonaut.

You will not have to repaste the Grizzly Conductonaut during the warranty period, if ever.

If you were to delid your CPU to repaste, yes, that would void your warranty instantly.

    New protocol:
Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Thermal Interface between the Intel CPU Die and the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS), and Gelid GC Extreme between the IHS and the heat sink + Grizzly Conductonaut between the GPU and its heat sink. Choose Fujipoly Extreme thermal pads for additional cooling.

If it's locked by nvidia, how do the board partners create a overclock in their bios and increase the power limits?

(unfortunately, newer Clevo 1070's are not supported by the Editor and Coolane has been gone for months.....anyone tried to check up on him?)

I think you may be mixing up BIOS with vBIOS (for GPU). The Custom Prema BIOS does not include the vBIOS.

Yes you can and...it'll stop booting. LOL
Best is to always use the exact firmware that was designed for your hardware revision and model and not cross-flash stuff. Even if things seem to work for a while...
Also the latest isn't always the greatest.

    Thanks!

As a suggestion to HIDevolution, it would be nice to get a complete track of your order status, something like this:

    Processing > Pending Pre-Order > Parts/Product on Order > Pre-Production > In Production > Awaiting Shipment > Complete

So you know exactly where you are.

Quick question for Premabios owners on P870TM1 - can you control the keyboard/top cover lighting in the bios? Like turning ON/OFF the light.

I don't expect being able to select light color (but what would be a plus). I read somewhere in this thread that with premabios the keyboard backlight is default to white. Does this also apply to the top cover?

@Donald@HIDevolution - maybe you can answer this since my laptop is purchased from HIDevolution :)

I believe it does apply to the top cover. The defaults are embedded into the EC and can't be changed via the BIOS.

I'm wandering if I install this, would it void my warranty?

    May interest: @Prema @Mr. Fox @Mobius 1 @Phoenix @Donald@HIDevolution

These sell for about 167$. when water cooled the temps are low..... really low like 55C

Not yet, but I work with a lot of main landers (PRC types) who know the ins and outs of the site its posted on so I will see if I can source one. Few hundred bucks is nothing to test something like this out.

Yes, these have already been posted here.

Yes, this would definitely instantly void your warranty. There has not been enough testing, or any testing, by either Clevo or HIDevolution to be able to warrant a machine once this was installed.

It is possible that we could offer it sometime down the road after we have sufficient confidence with it, but even then, we could only warrant the machine if we installed it.
