Is there any review with the P870TM GTX 1080 SLI system where the 2x GPU are using the older separate cooling and not the Vapor Chamber one? I am looking at a system like this and the seller does not have the VC cooling for the SLI system, only the 2x separate one.
Is that good enough or it would overheat with that?

Those are only sufficient for 1070 or single 1060.
You could probably get the GRID (vapor) heatsink separate.

Thanks for the reply, a shame that this heatsink is not suited to cool twin GTX 1080 cards and yet Clevo and many resellers use this by default and even if they have the VC cooling in stock, they ask some hefty extra $ for it.

I have found one on Ebay, but with shipping and tax it would cost around $270 :/

I was thinking about the P775TM too, but seeing that with the new heatsink the GPU even after repaste can go up to 90C just grinded my gear.

All I hear about the 775TM is that it sucks in small children ( extreme fan profiles) and that its hot enough to melt through tables. My reseller, @Donald@HIDevolution, warned me against this. Well his exact words were " She gets hot... really hot".

On my P775TM1-G the CPU is fine, it's the GPU that gets hot. 90C!

You bought it from HID? Those temps aren't typical for a HID system, at least judging from what many other users of HID systems had to say.

Back when I still had me P775DM3, I used to get 99C on CPU unless Undervolt and Underclock, and after 2 years, eventually I started getting those temps on the GPU as well, 90C in games, point from which it throttles. Since TEKadvice romania made it so poorly that it was impossible to remove the screws and repaste anymore, I made my choice to go for a mini desktop.

On the other hand, I heard that some companies like HIDevolution and a few others can get you much better temps with better termal treatments and such.

In the end, it's all about quality of service. HIDEVOLUTION has proven to me that they care about meeting consumer demands. I can buy clevo from anyone, but I choose HID because I know that my buisness is appreciated and they will go the extra mile to ensure that everything works out.

My system arrived today, I almost want to leave work early to open it... I told my wife to pose in front of the shipping box and take pictures.

I still have hours to set it up, It comes with no OS and I still need to install Ram. Ill let you guys know how the thermals turn out once windows has updated and such.

Also, I will be setting up the 950s in raid 0, are there any tips on this? do I need to install the rapid storage driver during windows installation?

You should be able to enable it via BIOS to set up a raid array before you install windows.

I got my P870TM1 system today from HIDevolution!

Didn't have much time to play with it yet - so benchmarks/testing still pending! I did play with some undervolting and was able to set -130mv adaptive under 4.8GHz, which I think is pretty decent.

Anyone with similar clocks got benchmarks for me to compare? CPU + GPU :)

Is it possible to turn off the keyboard backlight without CCC installed? :)

I noticed that the keyboard backlight doesn't turn off when you close the lid - so it's on all the time.

    Thanks for your response.

I read that CCC will mess around with fan profiles and set FN+1 to 80% or something like that. If I set SupportXTUFanTable=0 in the oem file for CCC v5.0001.1. 76, will that prevent the fan issue?

So got the system up and running. Raid is working and all drives and ram are up.

"Ran through some time so and some could related stuff." Written on a moving train. I don't know what this means.

If I leave the fans in auto I see maximum 88 degrees on cpu and around 83 on GPUs.

In max fan I see high 70s. The 4k panel is down right amazing. Great colors. Like really nice. I do miss 120 hz though. But I have a 2k 144 hz one.

Question. My keyboard lights and back panel turn off after a few minutes even when I out them back on with keyboard shortcuts or flexikey. Any reason for this?

Looks like we have similar temps in AUTO/MAX fans. What's your undervolt? Also - what version of CCC are you running? Does CCC mess up your fan profiles?

Anyways I read that there's a setting in CCC to turn off the keyboard light timeout. I don't have CCC installed so I can't tell you exactly where it is.

Anyways the Fn+1 FAN IS LOUD! I'll be on a flight later tonight and will be taking my laptop along :) Might as well pull this laptop out and Fn+1 to show that this thing has a jet engine inside of it. Hehehe :)

Your temperature seems to be fine. Well I don't like QHD screen. Your control these lights from cc. Mine is always ON with three different colours and same thing for back panel light.

Fn+1 is more like my personal emergency atmospheric venting protocol.

This machine needs red alarms and klaxon's to start blaring when the CPU breaches a certain degree.

"Alert! Alert! Temperature threshold breached! Please activate Emergency venting protocol!"

When I do engage Max fan its like the whole machine starts sucking things in around it. Its actually amazing and I don't give two fuqs about the sounds as I wear head phones.

Overall, I am still in "Wholly FUQ!" mode and its really an amazing piece of technology. The men at HID did a great job and @Zoltan@HIDevolution squared me away last night with some minor things. I still have some tweaking and testing to do, but its looking good.

My undervolt seems a bit low, -81mv. I may try to push it.

Anyway I will write a better in depth review later. Thanks again HID, and thanks @Donald@HIDevolution. Another win for the EVOC team.

I ran into a BSOD while gaming with a -130mv undervolt, so moved that to -120mv for now. Under -120mv, the highest observable CPUVID is about 1.391 V (hopefully that's not too bad - it tends to AVG at about 1.25V). There are lots of benchmarking tools out there, but I'm curious what are some good ones to test a CPU undervolt? Run Cinebench 10 times? I ran AIDA64 stability test (only Stress FPU) and it thermal throttles, but I think most PCs under this test will thermal throttle on an OC.

Some benchmarks to come after I settle down in the hotel :)

I plan to undervolt the GPU after getting the CPU undervolt squared away. For GPU, I think running 3dmark stress tests (firestrike + extreme/ultra) would be good?

It varies by CPU because it depends on which set of transistors are your limiting factor in what unit.

If you can try both fire strike ultra and time spy to test for GPU stability. If you have BF1 try that to both test CPU and GPU stability. For me setting that pass time spy don't always pass fire strike ultra or BF1. Maybe if you want try override voltage of 1150 or 1200. Im stable at 4.7ghz at 1150 for cpu abd gpu im stable at 1847/10516 at 0.912v.

    Question here.

I am curious, I am playing a few games where i see some screen tearing> Gsync is on and Vsync is disabled but i still see a slight tear. sometimes more apparent .

When running in SLI does Gsync even Work?

Games played that show this symptom.

In you experience guys, what's HIDevolution regular production time when the laptop has a foreign keyboard? Technically ordered mine on april 7th (almost five weeks ago). The order got printed on april 10th (4 weeks and 3 days ago). Then I request to change the screen and RAM (2x8 instead 1x16) and got the "new" order printed on april 26 (that's 3 weeks ago). The current status is pre-production. :(

Special order international keyboards take 4-6 weeks. The order has to be processed at Clevo, and then it gets shipped by sea to the USA.

Thanks for the quick answer Donald. Just two more questions:

    • The 4-6 weeks ETA starts from the moment the the order was placed or from the moment the order was printed by HIDevolution?
    • In my case. What's the official initial date for my order?

Gsync only works between your screen refresh rate. Like 35 to 120hz or 35 to 144hz. If your fps is higher then your refresh rate gsync stops working. To get around this you need to cap your fps 1 fps bellow your max refresh rate or turn on Fast sync in the nvidia control panel under 3D settings. Fast sync works like gsync at fps higher then your refresh rate.

Check if Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Power management mode = Prefer maximum performance.

Below are some benchmarks . Note that all tests were executed with max fans (Fn + 1).

Please compare and let me know if things look normal!

Is it normal, under an SLI configuration, for GPU1 and GPU2 to have different vBIOS version?

    On my system:
    GPU1 vBIOS: 86.04.80.00.21
    GPU2 vBIOS: 86.04.56.00.2D

Awsome thanks for this tip. I did a little more research and it seems that this is the issue.

When capped, the Division runs PERFECTLY smooth at 4k ultra settings in SLI. Not even my Desktop with a 1080ti can do that.

    This thing is juggernaut!

These are individual order questions that should be asked directly of your Sales Advisor. Please do not use the forum for this as it has no benefit to the Community.

I can only answer general questions that are informative to the community...as I did above "Special order international keyboards take 4-6 weeks. The order has to be processed at Clevo, and then it gets shipped by sea to the USA."

Yes and no. The information about the total production time from HIDevolution starts from the moment the order is placed or starts when the order is printed seems pretty general to me. It will no doubt help to others like me.

Total production time starts when both payment and all the necessary parts have been received, and it is ready to schedule for Production. This is already stated on our website.

Your request has to do specifically with your special order international keyboard. I gave you the general statement that these usually take about 4-6 weeks.

Information requests specific to your order, which has no benefit to the community, should be addressed as I earlier advised.

      Thats crazy. Payment is as fast as I can click the pay button... But I didn't know you get your components from Clevo by sea   , come on guys a keyboard is a small package, you can get it shipped by air for as low as $20 or cheaper. If you told me that, I'd pay an extra $20 or $30 to delivery the stuff by air.. :mad2:

I honestly thought the 4-6 weeks were from the moment the payment was done...

Well, I have said all I can say. You can either vent here, or contact your Sales Advisor if you need clarification on any aspect of your order.

NEVERMIND ------------- SEARCH FUNCTION GOT IT, UNDER KEYBOARD, cant believe i missed it.

Sorry gents. I have to invoke the emergency "Thunder cats!" call here.

@Phoenix @Mr. Fox @Mobius 1 @Donald@HIDevolution And yes, sorry for disturbing you Prema, but..... @Prema. And Prema i know you hear this a a lot, but thank you for your hard work on these machines. Your work really sets them apart and creates a whole new desire to own them.

I "Accidentally" overclocked my RAM to far in the Bios and now cant get her to post. I removed all sticks of ram and replaced them with some other sticks and still nothing. Next step is to clear BIOS settings. Things is, I cant figure out where the BIOS battery is.

Any help on this would be awsome.

Instead of removing the CMOS battery we can also just press and hold the FN and the D keys while switching the system on until it shuts down again, in order to reset the BIOS to defaults.
