    Honestly the stuff I've read about the 1.0 is slightly exaggerated in my opinion. If we're being honest the banding is hardly noticeable unless you shove your face right in front of the screen. I actually ordered the 1.4 but got scammed on Newegg from this Chinese seller so I'm stuck with this one.

    The colours and obviously the viewing angles on the 144hz are much better though, but then again that panel is also a lot more dim than the 3K ones, which is slightly annoying. I agree with your assessment that the 1080 is more suitable for FHD, but on a laptop screen you can easily downscale to Full HD ingame anyway without noticing any blur.

    Overall I'd tend to prefer the 144hz slightly as well, but in my opinion the 1.0 isn't as terrible as it's made out to be on these forums.

    No. It is controlled in the EC and that is not a user-friendly environment for modding. One false move bricks it, and the chip holding the EC firmware is not the same one as the BIOS... flashing an EC chip is not easy and involves a lot of tiny wire soldering because inline flashing clips are not available for that type of IC.

    Mr. Fox is there a way to modify the two frequency/voltage curve on a SLI setup? I managed to modify only one at the time using MSI afterburner. Undervolting the primary GPU only I got a nice 6 °C decrease on GPU temperature.

    I actually need someone with a P870TM to allow me to connect to it and do some testing.
    Im out of stock of those and i need to check something, if you are available it will help me release the first public beta for this:

    [IMG]
    [IMG]

    I need to test some data on the second GPU.
    Quick connect of around 20 minutes max using teamviewer!

    With Pascal, not that I am aware of. It used to be easy with NVIDIA Inspector before Pascal and its cancer vBIOS was released, but the control freaks at NVIDIA don't make anything as user friendly as they used to.
    I could never get that to work for voltage with Pascal SLI. If you set one GPU, it would undo your settings on the other one for some stupid reason. It used to work with Maxwell and earlier GPUs. With Pascal, the synchronization only applies to core and memory clocks, not voltage.
    If software were available to manipulate the fans individually with infinite speed controls it would be awesome. It's kind of sinful that all laptops do not have this as a standard feature. The three take-em-or-leave-em preset profiles thing really sucks. But, I suppose having three preset profiles is better than no control... better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, for sure.

    Totally agree.
    For a initial release im aiming for two modes:

    - MANUAL - You can define your own ranges and speed (from X Temp to Y Temp Z Percent ) like in the first picture.
    - Automatic Modes - You can create 3 fan tables, edit them and even share them (intervals of 5ºC)

    Some cool settings:
    Ramping Steps already work for both modes (define how fast fan speed goes up and down).
    Security Values for NO MATTER what if it gets to X temp it triggers FN+1 speed
    On app close / error it sets fans to Auto for security
    For users who modified FANs (example using the empty GPU fan for cooling CPU or GPU 1):
    Sync second GPU Fan with ---- CPU FAN 1 or GPU FAN 1

    I´m sure in the future ill have all sorts of other cool features, for example i´m now adding "Fan Duty Transfer" for shared cooler systems ;)

    BUT for the P870TM i really need to get my hands on one with dual GPU for testing.

    Why? 3 lines of code to prevent that:

    if ((CPUtemp >= 85)||(GPUtemp >= 85)){
    your.fanduty.class(100,100,100,100);
    }

    voilá!

    Exactly. Being smart means you don't allow stupid mistakes, like shutting off the fans completely. If someone really wants to do that they can simply unplug the fans and let it burn. But, it's not smart and especially not customer-centric to take away or severely limit configuration options. For fan controls you simply do not allow software to disable the fans or allow them to run abnormally slow once a high temperature threshold is reached. I think there are as many people that want them to run faster and cooler than there are people that want a quiet, overheating, throttling mess. But, it's really nice when you get to decide what to do with your own personal property.

    If it is controlled by the EC and exposed to the operating system via EC RAM, you can try hacking the EC RAM by looking for a series of hex registers with slowly increasing values, and then try changing them, but if you mess up (its impossible to overvolt your cpu by changing the wrong EC RAM register at least), you're going to have to do an EC reset or pull the battery to reset the EC; EC RAM is not persistent. On MSI laptops, there are two sets of EC registers in two groups, which control the CPU fan curves and GPU fan curves, and another register which controls whether the fan curve is automatic, manual (custom) or max speed all the time. Only mess with this via RWEverything if you enjoy living dangerously. That's assuming Clevo uses a similar system. And since Clevo and MSi are in bed with each other, it wouldn't surprise me one bit (fun fact: Clevo Pascal cards are made by MSI, not by clevo).

    Or you can just use the beta posted by
    @John@OBSIDIAN-PC as above.

    I recommend using the beta.

    I found your high temperature problem.

    Recommended fix: Use one of the following:
    IC Diamond
    Gelid GC Extreme
    Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut

    Apply thermal pad mod with Arctic 6Wm/K for cheap, plentiful, yet potent thermal pads.

    Thanks for your suggestion. I've seen several mentions of a thermal pad mod. But I've not had much luck finding a post/video/guide detailing thermal pad application. Could you link the post? I was planning on buying a kit of Fujipoly Extreme off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Fujipoly-Extreme-System-Builder-Thermal/dp/B00MPZXYQK

    Also, I saw a post that outlined a way to increase heatsink pressure by using paper clips here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...ctive-cooling-mod-for-p775dm2-p775dm3.803626/.
    Would this mod work on my p870tm?

    Ha, you don't get "a kit", you get "multiple kits". 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm and 3.5mm probably. And pick the ones for each set.

    [IMG]

    Here's one of the guides i used for mine. I was only able to get 0.5mm/1mm/1.5mm and I was incapable of fully completing the pad modding, and I can see a difference compared to @bloodhawk when we try the same tests. But I still got quite an improvement over stock.

    That mod is not useful for the P870. But now you understand why exactly people like myself suggest getting it repadded at the point of sale.

    oof okay now I get it.

    A couple questions...
    1. Will this layout work with the smaller "single" GPU heatsinks?
    2. I cannot find Arctic or Fujipoly thermal pads any thicker than 1.5 mm. What brand do you recommend I purchase for the thicker pads (2-4mm)

    @Meaker@Sager @Papusan
    Or anyone else with a Titan bag.
    I have came up with a design for a thicker bottom cover for our laptops. Which would allow us to use a thicker heatsink, different fan options etc. What would you guys say would technically be tooooo thick for your liking ? Yes.. I know the lappy is already fairly thick.. but it's just a little something I want to test lol

    Thickness should be on level with Clevo-P570WM-Barebones But of course with more modern Cooling tech as Vapor chamber and more Copper.

    Now that it's confirmed, that 9900K will be backwards compatible with z370 boards, do you think it will be a "drop in" experience? Like, plug and play.

    Also.... 1180 mxm. Anyone have any idea if this will compatible with Pascal?

    Not 100% sure but I don't think Intel will do the same tricks as last time(as increase TDP from 91 and up to 95w for the chips and say the older Z170/270 MB can't handle the increased load/power). And the new chipset is branded Z390 and almost as a rebranded Z370. Aka still in Z300 series Motherboard. See also http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...e-lake-cpus-z390.811225/page-13#post-10772092

    Even H310 chipset is compatible... https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-I...atible-with-H310-boards-as-well.318606.0.html

    The click is the jack measuring the resistance to adjust the output. Also yes something like that would work.

    Sometimes, late at night, I watch Tech porn and dream of putting my hands on other machines.... and then I wake the **** up and realize I have a Dreadnought. **** that thin and light anorexic ****.... Rant complete.

    Thanks HIDEvolution, @Donald@HIDevolution, @Zoltan@HIDevolution for the killer machine. It has been some months now, and I can say without a doubt its worth all the troubles. Because when you do finally figure out that SLI driver issue and hammer it out with 5000 pound JDAM missile, it feels like slaying a dragon, naked with a beer in your hand.

    This baby is not the sexiest - She is not even remotely attractive. Shes heavy, expensive and loud. She sucks down electrons like a hoover and crashes more then a Japanese woman, But ill rock this thing until I cant run max on everything.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The feeling you get when you finally find the root cause of a game failure ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    I had an issue with constant crashes with a particular game. I found it was a combination of bad or corrupted shaders and a newer driver. I reverted to an old driver and had no issues.
