Yeah, not all run benchmarks. And not all know their new baby run as trash. Some even don't know if their computers run below 95/100C. They have never used or seen tools like Hwinfo64/hwmonitor. Read the thread posted below.
Then stick with your desktop or buy yesterdays Asus Joke with the Water dock. Google it.
Maybe so. But many run same setup on air without bake it.
    That's ok.

Several reviews in this thread... http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...50h-coffee-lake.810891/page-115#post-10822452

Put of 1 or two days and read it. Some aren't interested in benchmarks (I know). But they will BE after their new Trash run as trash! Often too late. They can't return it and will be screwed until they buy new next time.

You make valid points, I'll start reading that forum as I just finished the main p870tm one for the second time.

I am fully capable of tweaking my system to do what I want it to do.
Hell I still have a CPU around here with #2 pencil traces to "unlock" it... :p

I know you're worried about the P870 TM1's flaws. For someone spending that type of money who isn't rich, that's human to worry.
But that's the price you have to pay for getting into the notebook market. Everything is cancer now, and that's why Mr Fox went back to desktops. But still, the best thing you can buy is the Clevo P870 Tm1. Everything else is going to have even more drawbacks.

And if you truly want something light and disposable to do your browsing, shopping and email on, then buy a $400 lightweight trashbook and save the rest of the money and build a Mini ITX desktop. Trust me, if you're complaining about technical Clevo P870 Tm1 issues (many of the issues which plagued the DM series were finally fixed, especially the warped heatsinks), you absolutely don't want a 100C Alienware 6 core BGA trashbook.

Ask yourself: Do you really need a notebook to travel with and game on or a high performance portable book?
If yes, you buy the Clevo. If no, you build a desktop and buy a $400 disposable throwaway laptop.

I already have my i9 9900K and Z390 Aorus Master and am sitting at 5 ghz. And I still want a Clevo so I can take that 5 ghz with me. But I'm waiting for the refresh with 4 fans and Z390, which you know will come out eventually. And I already have a MSI GT73VR throttlebook. And I still want the LGA Clevo.

Yeah I know everything sucks, I just want a good suck...
    Ok that came out wrong...
    did it again...
The only laptop I own ATM is a Lenovo T440P
Yeah, like I said I spend 21+/- days a month working and living in a Hotel, I have no gaming except my Xbone One( I only use it as a media player).
I wanted something by late January/early February as Anthem hits the shelf in late February.

Please note that some of us here push the laptop to it's absolute limits, some of us push said limit even further with shims, custom IHS's, shrouds, additional fans etc.
But I can honestly say this is one of the best laptops I have ever owned .I have given it more hell than I probably should, but it handles it all. As far as being worried with software CCC , led control etc- Peep out Obsidians Fan control software. I'd link the thread but I'm on my phone ATM . John has put in some serious work on this stuff. Given the amount of laptops I have owned Asus,AW, MsI Titans etc. This has by far been the best experience so far. Hardware and software wise. Asus and MSI has had thier fair share of software related issues with laptops lol. I know for a fact, i burnt a G75 Oc edition up thanks to Asus's software piggybacking off of XTU fan profile corruption lol .

Has noone even bought the p780 wit 9900k ? I thought that people posted pictures and benchmarks on getting a new system and quite often in a new thread. I don't see any such thing even though the machine is listed in quite a few reseller's lineup !

Too many temp problems. And requires the vapor chamber heatsink basically if you want to overclock.

Only the P870 TM1 with the vapor chamber heatsink can keep temps under control. But you still don't want to stress test on it without putting the entire thing on a portable AC. Desktop versions are bad enough if you aren't watercooling or did the difficult delid/remove solder/repaste LM method.

With the Prema bios, you're probably on your own...buy a TM1 without a CPU and then install the 9900K yourself.

Depends what you are after but voltage tuning at stock will still win out at multithread handily over the 8700k.

To give a proper response to that in terms of USE case, my hope is that any game I throw at it 5 years down the line, it can handle it at High settings (not even ULTRA) easily with no temp of anything ( gpu, cpu , ram etc) going above 80s and the second use case is if I install two virtualbox (or vmware) based clusters running simultaneously without again temps going above 80's ! I am quite happy if all cores can run at 4.5 (or lower but atleast above 4.2) and keep temps below 80's at ambient temperatures at 35 - 40 Degrees CELCIUS. I know this last part might be tough but I am just putting it out there as you were asking of what my use case was !

So Initially ie for a week or so, I plan to run some tests or benchmarks but NOT for getting the best score, but just for getting an idea of what my particular machine / cpu / gpu gets to in temp for 4.6 to 4.8 all cores. Then plan to save those details for later reference and get the clock to 4.5 and or lower and make sure to remember that temps shouldn't excess my 4.6 to 4.8/4.9 temps even if ambient goes from 24 Deg C ( ie room temp) to like 35 degree C)

Didn't understand you. Please rephrase with some more detail ? Do you mean that such ambient temps haven't been used in the test results you linked me to or did you mean that the machine will start boiling over and explode at such a temp as it is outside specks limits or something else. ?

Lol it may sound unbelievable but there ARE places on the planet that get hotter than 35 and also get colder than -30 Deg C. The colder is not an issue but I was just trying to understand what the effect of extreme ambient would be! It has ON OCCASSION, gotten to 42 to 45 degrees in Delhi (India) and sure it is not a temp that you go out in the sun with your laptop and play games but my intention is merely to get an idea of WHAT would happen if the ambient went to say 42. Would the laptop just plain refuse to start, will it idle at 60? If I run a browser or maybe watch a movie will I see like temps in the lower 90's ? I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect is all. But a realistic scenario is that in summer, temps can be in low 30's to 35 / 37 etc.

Btw other conditions I am assuming to be true is that the cpu is a binned one ( the least costly binned ) and has LM paste + kryonaut paste as seen in Hid's website!

Temperatures usually rise by the level of ambient, if ambient is 10C higher the temps will be 10C higher. It's a rough rule of thumb not to be taken to the extreme but it's about right.

You may want to run it with an undervolt and maybe down a couple of 100mhz if you intend to pound it, get it closer to the frequency vs power sweet spot.

Wouldn't 4.5 Ghz be a good spot ? Also, assuming I am going with HID, wouldn't the undervolting etc be done by HID people before they ship it off if pre requested ?

Secondly can anyone point me to any other things I should keep in mind in case I end up ordering from them. I know of NBR member rebate but other than that not sure what else I can talk about / request? Any tips ?

Two most important things to buy from HIDevolution are the vapor chamber heatsink upgrade (THIS IS IMPORTANT) and dead pixel 30 day guarantee.
If you're OCD about backlight bleed you can get that reduce bleed package too. Dead pixels are more annoying than bleed, and I'd rather play the bleed warranty than get a dead pixel and not be able to return it.

The repaste/LM/repad job is nice if you're buying a 8086K CPU and you want to keep it installed long term.
Of course you can always repad yourself but you need to do research and ask nicely here exactly what thermal pad thickness to get. I saw some pictures posted in the past but I don't remember what Clevo it was from.

what CPU are you buying from HIDevolution? Are they installing a 9900K for you?
If you're going to run that furnace in your Tm1, make sure you get the repaste+repad service. They do a good job and regular paste is going to have a hard time cooling 8 cores.

I am waiting for a bit to see how 9900k fares but I am really torn between ordering 8086k vs 9900k. What I want is to get 9900k but I really want to do whatever possible to keep it below or around 80 deg C during normal gameplay or normal work. If after all this wait HID announces that this is impossible then I might have to go with 8086. I am not going to be doing much benchmarking or OC and I am quite happy running things at 4.5Ghz as long as I know it can be pushed to 4.7 / 4.8 under more load if Really needed. I am not looking to go for 5.0 Ghz 24/7 or something.

You asked me " Are they installing a 9900K for you?" but how would they install that for me if it is not even up on its website as an available option? I didn't quite understand your question in that context. Do they install things that they don't advertise ?

You do know you can always disables cores on a 9900K, with your Prema bios right?
Or disable hyperthreading to turn it into a highly binned 9700K ....

I've already done CB runs with 2 cores disabled, and with Hyperthreading disabled....

If you disabled 2 cores and hyperthreading then at that point wouldn't the 8086k perform much better than 9900k for temps and for clocks ?

If you later choose to reenable them then perhaps getting the 9900k makes sense coz now you are using all 8 cores.

Also how are temps and performance affected if I just disable hyperthreading but keep all cores active but at 4.5 Ghz or there abouts ?

I have some already but I was wondering if there are a few pointers collected in one place by someone experienced for easy reference !

No, I meant disable 2 cores (turn the 9900K into an 8086K).
Or disable hyperthreading (turn the 9900K into a highly binned 9700K).

    That's what I meant.

Here is a detailed answer to that , which I did previously: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...ounge-phoenix-4.809589/page-239#post-10791754
Do you mean that if I buy an 8086K I will spend much less ? Or did you mean something else eg if I I buy the P775 or something ? What did you exactly mean ? If the former, then I might save 100 dollars and I ok with not saving that and getting the 9900k granted that the temps are manageable ie below 80 under load!

As I said before, you have many ways to manage temps.
You can disable 2 cores and turn it into an 8086K,
Disable hyperpthreading and turn it into a 9700K that will overclock better than most 9700K's (or run cooler by reducing the voltage), etc.

Our goal is to keep it in the 80's at 4.5GHz with all 8 Cores locked with the Custom Prema BIOS. That is reality.

Unfortunately, keeping it below 80C under load is a dream with the Intel® Core™ i9-9900K.

Hello Donald. I didn't quite get you. Could you please rephrase! Did you mean that at 4.5 on all cores the temps being below 80s or about 80's is impossible ? Also, when you said keeping it below 80c under load is a dream , what sort of load are we talking about ? Normal load or sythetic/benchmarking load? Does the 9900k go above 85 even on normal loads like say a witcher 3 at high or maybe editing a 1080p video ?

Please rephrase what you meant by 'reality' and by 'dream'.

My question wasn't about the cores or the Ghz but about the price. You mentioned "Or if you dont need those cores spend less to begin with..." . Spend less in what and by how much ( an estimate I mean) ?

Read through again, the language is quite clear and I dont know how I could improve on Donald's language.

In terms of price you can look at the difference between the 8700k and the 9900k.

ah so for price it was 8700k vs 9900k was what was meant ! I was thinking of any other price factors that I was not aware of maybe! Comes around to be a difference of rougly 100 to 140 dollars. I guess I would be ok with that if given temps are good for games and work loads !

Yes, that is correct, if we are really talking about while under load.
Yes, that is correct. I would say gaming, and video editing are not 'normal' loads. The only way to bring those temps down, is to lock all 8 Cores at 4.4~4.3GHz

Reality is as I have stated above.

Dream is sub 80C for the more intense games, and video editing.

Why is your target sub 80C for a beast like the EVOC High Performance Systems P870TM1 with both the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and Intel® Core™ i9-9900K?

Please feel free to email me at [email protected] or email me your phone number and I can call you between 5:00 PM and 2:00 AM GMT (9 AM and 6 PM PDT) - Monday through Friday - to discuss any other questions you might have.

Lol how can I sign up to get a test 9900k or 9700k to come up with a better cooling solution with the TM1?
