To be honest i thought it was more complex. You need steady hand to mod the heatsink, and some patience.
-
I mixed you up with someone else who had black screened there gtx1080 after flashing the bios.
-
Oh where did you buy your RTX2080? How much was it?
-
Actually it was me
I had black screen when I flashed 250w vbios in my 1080gtx
-
I bough with a laptop and swapped cards
-
So you fixed the GTX1080 though?
-
I’m gonna buy a RTX2080 early next year probably. I’m gonna eventually make an offer on one of Eurocoms eBay listings for their upgrade kits.
-
I did not solved as I used the 2080. It was my 2nd option to keep the 1080 and increase the TDP.

So I've tried countless laptop backpacks from freebiz/razer/everki's/dells. The padding wasn't to my liking, These bag wear and tear started showing way to early. Handles would rip, zippers wouldn't function. I wasn't really confident with the durability and stability of these backpacks. I also had to modify by adding foam or using pipe insulation foam to cover the edges of the laptop and secure the duel power bricks.
Looked into tactical military backpacks like hazard 4,5.11 tactical, hard shell carry-on backpacks and camera backpacks. None of the internal dimensions matched up to what I needed atleast for this laptop, let alone all the laptop accessories I bring. Then I ran into higher end camera backpacks. 3 days of researching and eventually found f-stop and then I spent the money on the f-stop-shinn black backpack with a master icu. its designed for high end camera equipment but the versatility of the bag makes it pretty functional in securing other high end electronics. Its overkill for some but the padding they provide in unbelievable. Most of my stuff are in hermit shell type cases. I'm just paranoid and need things to be unequivocal secured and snug. I'll be packing 2 15in portable monitors, low profile monitor stands, a few keyboards, couple mouses, doss xl speaker, several 2.5/3.5 hdd, hhd enclosures, various cables. Everything is in hermit type hard shell casing. Any dead space would be filled with eva foaming. I travel a ton and needs all these items severely padded when I'm traveling.
I am excited and will be receiving it sometime in the next couple weeks! I Encourage anyone looking for a bag look into f-stop backpacks. They do have smaller capacity backpacks as well with the same quality throughout!jc_denton likes this. -

It sounds like your needs are more than just the average commuter. Are you mountain climbing with them?
-
Guys,
I have finalized my 870km1 machine. installed TM1 cpu heatsink + 4th fan mod. Could you help me what bios settings I need to do to utilize max performance? This is the cpu speed in FS, for me it seems low. Thx in advance
-
I wanted a no compromise backpack and it seemed like this was the one. I work for a payment processing company and do quite a bit of traveling between merchants / terminals / office. I have a separate backpack for testing. Have tons of verifone/firstdata/clover units. It's definitely possible to combine the bags or sometime in the future mountain climb to businesses that need payment processing units lol

Try running x50 all core x47 cache at -100mV
-
OK, thx. What powerlimit should I use? also vr current limit?
BTW thank you for the ideas for the 4th fan! You fan proposal is just perfect! This fan amazing, has enough airflow @3,3V at almost dead silentjc_denton likes this. -
Keep VR at the stock 720, raise PL1 250000 (250w) and PL2 300000 (300w)
I'd later on try to test a higher undervolt, by an increment of -10mV and testing stability until you reach the limit. Then settle around 10mV above the limit.
Depending on the quality of the silicone, toy should be able to attain a decent undervolt at 5Ghz.
Fn+1, max fans should be used for benching. And keep an eye on the temperatures.Last edited: Dec 8, 2019 -
Guys, thank you for all the support, you can read my thread about the upgrade here
-
So, I tried 5ghz all cores -100mV. Firestrike test ran ok, but the cpu performance was not flat, there were some throttles. What could be the reason?
-
Rerun with hwinfo64 in the background, then check "perf cap" tab to see what triggered any throttling flags.Last edited: Dec 8, 2019

3d tests or CPU test? -
I wanted to be cautious, and i just ran firestrike test. The test was finished but the purpule cpu line was not flat, there were many ups and downs. In hwinfo there was no power ir thermal throttling.
-
set VR CURRENT limit to 1020 that’s 255amps. Sometimes XTU confuses the bios on me if you disable the VR limit.
-

There are many ups and downs?
That's like you going to a mechanic and saying your car makes a noise, he asks you what kind of noise (thumping, grinding etc) and you replied with it makes a noise....
Post up the graphs at least
-
There you go
power limit1 250000
power limit2 300000
vr limit 1020
Last edited: Dec 9, 2019 -
So, what could be the reason? Xtu says power limit throttling very rarely on 5ghz.
-
You are using a lot of power. And I think you are at the limit of the motherboard of a KM1 I suppose. I thought 135 watts is it out of those laptops?. I’m still new to these DTR laptops. And the only thing that could possibly help now would be swap in a 9900KS that may require less voltage at any given frequency to reduce the wattage some.
The OG’s will certainly chime in soon. Nice setup though. And Great job!
The physics score seems low? Maybe I’m crazy. But my 8086K at 5Ghz gets right at 21,200 I believe.
I think I would just run your 9900KF CPU stock with a huge undervolt and be happy with it. Maybe boost 1-6 cores really fast. But all 8 cores at stock is pretty good. Considering this laptop was designed for a 7700K.Last edited: Dec 10, 2019 -
Oh and the RTX2080 is performing very well!
-

Looks like it's the secondary power limits that john has detailed.
-
Can be done something to solve it?
One more thing. I bought this laptop as evoc laptop with Prema bios. How can I can what EC I have? It is the original km's ec I guess. -
So it is not the laptop? He can get full 5Ghz power with 9900K out of a KM1?
-
Yeah, too low. And FS physics with 6 cores at 5GHz should be more like 22500.jc_denton likes this.
-
I remember when running 5Ghz was no small matter but an achievement in it self. And now we run 5Ghz laptops.
-
Is there any way to utilize better the 9900kf on 5ghz in km1, or in this board it is that it...

Sure but at some point the VRM is going to go pop.tps3443 likes this. -
All depends on chip bin, cooling and ambient temp.
But get correct performance vs. clocks means you can lower clock speed to stock clocks and still get equal or even better performance... 10% more performance with 6% lower clock speed show that something can be improved. This is from the old DM1 at stock clocks.

Thx a lot! I try to go stock or come down to 4,7 and see. I will keep you updated.Papusan likes this.

what are some tips on getting better performance or maximum performance per clock? I know you were getting 1,648 in R15 at just 4.9Ghz. While I’m getting 1,641 at 5Ghz. So some of my overclock is practically wasted. You also got 1,465 in R15 bone stock. What kinda tweaks are you doing to the OS to achieve this?
Im already running an LTSC Windows. High priority in task manager, no background apps, and high performance mode is on.
I’m not really sure what else I can do to squeeze that extra power out of my laptop.Last edited: Dec 11, 2019 -
Can't remember if your chips is stepping R0. If so it will give lower performance. And don't expect exactly same performance scores vs clocks as others. It will always be some variance. This due notebook type, hardware, software, Os and drivers.
Not sure if you have go true the posts for tweaks. Here is a few.

Using same overclock and settings on my clean "tweaked" Win 10 Pro install resulted in scores that were 1-2 multipliers under a tweaked LTSC.
But even after disabling Spectre/Meltdown, Pro scores noticeably worse.Papusan likes this. -
I got my highest stock CBR-15 score running tweaked Win Pro 1809. But the nice with 2019 LTSC... You don't need do nothing with the OS on long time
-
I remember that! I scored 2100 with a tweaked Windows 10 Pro but at x48 multiplier! That's why you're the wizard of Cinebench, brother! Magically pulling scores 1-2 multiplier higher than the rest of us plebs
-
stepping is U0
-
I forgot. It’s Intel’s 9th gen processors that got new stepping which decreased performance slightly vs clocks. Try with different voltage offset to see if it affects scores. Too low voltage (at the border for stability) will affect maximum scores.jc_denton and Falkentyne like this.

I miss the simpler times when you could get excited for a new stepping, as it usually meant better overclocking potential or performance.

The process is ringed out to maximum already. Crazy how long we have been on it. -

I don't know what's more magical, the score or the temperatures you're getting
