As I have said in my edit there is any news about memory!!!

I have misunderstood "1 To 8192 Mo" that in English means "1TB 8192MB"

So far everything I can find online (all Euro market) lists 8GB ram and two main versions: the -s01 has a 1TB HDD and the -s02 has a 256GB SSD.

The fact that the unit at CES was sporting 16GB ram points to at least some markets getting 8GB soldered and also an open slot, or 16GB right from the factory. Time will tell, I guess.

My question: what is Samsung's history with thermal design? Good / not-so-good?

Nope, every S02 version seen until now has 8GB and 1TB HDD:

    Notebook NP770Z5E-S02DE /I7-3635QM 8GB(15,6") FHD/AMD Radeon HD 8870M

    Notebook NP770Z5E-S02DE /I7-3635QM 8GB(15,6") FHD/AMD Radeon HD 8870M 2GB/ 1TB /ohne/ Win8P 64B

Maybe S02 means Windows 8 PRO...

Perhaps 16GB comes only with touch version and maybe this version is called 780Z5E
This is just a speculation, because in the 770Z5E description there is any reference to touch screen:

Yea that would make sense. That could also be why the 770z5e seems to be coming out in 3 weeks, where as the touch screen version isn't due until April.

Are there any sites that state that the 770z5e has a touch screen? Other than that original chart we saw comparing 770z5e with the ultra

They are the usual Austrian and German sites published many time here

    Most likely just a typo.
    Amazon Italy is more accurate:
    http://www.amazon.it/Samsung-Chrono...L1QK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358617037&sr=8-1

According to the description there is bluetooth adapter, so there many chance that it uses an Intel WiFi adapter, and this means WIDi included :D (just a speculation!)

France price is very strange, usually they have prices higher than the rest of Europe, it's easy to see watching Dell site (.fr .it .de .co.uk etc), but you could consider many other cases...

$1,700 for top end... I'm definitely surprised by this. This thing looks like it's gonna be a beast, hopefully it does not disappoint.

EDIT: forgot to add this, but does anyone know if touch capability can be disabled on W8? I like to read with my finger as a guide, and obviously that won't work with a touchscreen

Not just that, he said it SRP's for $1700. That's...really impressive, considering that laptops usually go a bit under the SRP, though in this case I'm less sure. Honestly, even if it sells at SRP, I'm down with it, though I really hope its simple and easy to change the HDD to an SSD. I'd happily do it manually.

Yes, the 15.6" Chonos H model reviewed at CES was glossy FullHD PLS and it was also touch panel.

Not aware of any matte options.

A question for all of you who have/had a Samsung notebook: what is their policy about changing HDD or upgrading RAM? Can the customer do it on his own without voiding warranty? And what about repasting cpu and GPU? Is it possible without voiding warranty?

I've never owned a Samsung laptop, but in my experience with hp tech support, I was advised to retain the original HDD and RAM in case I needed to send it in for repairs.

I agree. If you ask Samsung if swapping the RAM / HDD voids the warranty they will say yes (and could argue that the warranty covered the equipment they supplied). If you restore the computer to the as-supplied condition before asking for warranty service and have caused no damage (and don't make a point of saying that you have been inside the computer then you should have no difficulty getting warranty service (if it is needed).

If you like the np9150 this probably won't be a laptop for you I think. This is a lot less powerful, upgradeable and gamer oriented. If you ordered the sager already you probably don't need a whole lot of mobility I think so I can't really see why you would want this laptop.

Of course they aren't, I know that.

Because I once had a macbook pro & love the mobility of it. I actually recently sold that MBP & was trying to find something near that but with a better GPU for gaming. Didn't find anything I liked & within my budget until I started looking into the Sager. Sager 9150 is only 1-2lbs more than a MBP so I wouldn't be giving up that much more mobility. Though, I'm willing to give up the raw power of the Sager for something light weight as I hope the new Samsung would be. But, I really liked what I saw from the CES video but on the other hand, I really like the Sager 9150 for its raw power. I know I can't have both but I was hoping the new Samsung would come out sooner so I can compare them with each other.

Then again there isn't much info on the new Samsung so that's why it's hard for me to decide.

I've been looking for something similar to you. I currently have a macbook pro and it's due for an upgrade. I do like the power that sagers offer but I would sacrifice some of it for mobility. I find the Chronos perfect. I have a desktop to handle the heavy stuff but a laptop with a very decent gpu and something in between a mbp pro and a rmbp is a very good option. I would rather not drag around a thick and heavy laptop. I'd use this for casual gaming and school/media work. It seems like an amazing machine. Let's hope that it lives up to the reviews and hype, at least most of it. The Asus ux51vz seemed like the perfect machine, but it has its negatives. Let's hope this one's it!

It's indeed really hard to find something mobile enough with still decent gaming capabilities. If I can indeed get one for €1300 or less I'd be very happy. I was looking at the sager too but I can't bring myself to take something in that form factor with me. When I have to take my laptop to class I probably won't have acces to a socket so that's kinda annoying when you have a sager and it's battery won't last the whole class.

This laptop doesn't seem too easy to open, I imagine that screws are under the rubbers and I hope that these rubbers are not glued...
On the left there is a little hole with a little icon, what is it?

Sadly most notebook come with "Void if removed" stickers all over the heating pipes and CPU/GPU dice nowadays. So you're pretty much voiding your warranty if there is such sticker around.

Yikes, good catch on the screws being under the rubber feet. Guess it would look good from a design standpoint, but not even Apple are doing something that devilish on their Macbook Pro. Crossing my fingers those things aren't glued on either.

If I understand correctly, there is no Chronos Ultra model.

There were two Chronos models displayed at CES:

    - Series 7 Chronos "H" (15.6", aluminum chassis, 1920x1080 glossy display, i7-3635QM and 8870m)

    - Series 7 Chronos "M" (15.6", aluminum lid, plastic chassis, 1366x768 display, unspecified CPU and GPU but lower spec than "H")

The Samsung Series 7 Ultra is 13.3" laptop, quite different from the 15.6" Chronos, but with 1920x1080 display, 8570m GPU and Core i7 or i5 processor options.

ehrm ....that,s only a computer generated image.....it's the one from the amazon website....if you take a look at the ones showing the dispay lid they have differences also.... in reality the chronos has a plastic strip at the top of the display lid...the display lid on the computer generated images is one solid sheet of aluminum....so take these images with a grain of salt
they are not necessarilly very accurate. You can check the bottom of the laptop in Mike's review at ces when he shows the bottom....i don't remember on wich page someone posted it

Later edit: Here's the video and on minute 1:21 you can clearly see the screws

You have completely reason, it seems that Amazon uses computer generated images (not completely faithful to reality) good for us that screws are not under the rubber feet, but the question about the little hole with a little icon on the left part still remains, I see it even in the Mike's video.

(I have just opened a new thread about Samsung policy about HDD/SSD replacement by customers to get some information from previous experiences of Samsung consumers)

The little hole is most likely the battery disconnect switch which exists on current models with internal batteries.

on older model laptops if your laptop froze and your power button was not working to turn off the laptop you could remove the battery and voila....it stopped.
on current models since the battery is integrated they give you the abillity to do that via the disconnect switch...just put a small screw driver in that hole and you will disconnect the battery while the small button inside is pressed

As I predicted 780Z5E is the touch screen version, instead the 570Z5E is the version known until now as a Chronos M (Medium).

The series 8 seems to be composed of a 14-inch and a 15-inch model.

hmmm..... although the 780z5e has the full glass panel i don't understand why it still says anti reflective display the same like the 770z5e. also if you look really carefully you can see that the touch screen version has the small plastic strip at the top of the display while the non touch version gets the full metal jacket :D

also looks like no pls for the 17"

Am I fool or they don't write anything about touch in those pages? The only reference I can find is the picture with the hand in front of the screen, but they don't write about touch versions. So, what is the difference except the silver/black case?
