Yeah the laptops 8000M cards currently available are all just rebrands of last years 7000 series, so no new tech yet, so no reason for delaying them.

OK someone out there is now or will tomorrow be playing with their new 770z7e, I hope they use notebookreview and will fill us in on their experience!
This shop has gone from a stock of 20 down to a stock of 19: Samsung laptop: 770Z7E NP770Z7E-S01NL - Centralpoint.nl -

Yes, but that's the first thing I've seen with an 8870M. I eagerly await its performance numbers.

Enter the model into Google. NP770z5c-S01DE or S02DE I think.
-
Could also be a lame shop tactic to catch preorders
Do all models have PLS panels? Ultra, 15, 17?
/edit it's true, release in Germany!

Performance of 17" is not so interesting, because cooling system could be very different, and today cooling system can do a significant difference in performance.
Maybe it's better to wait until Samsung fixes UEFI issue that doesn't regard only Linux but even Windows system. -
These companies should learn from Apple. They give the release date and price on the day of the announcement and release the product on the said day. Samsung announced this on Jan 2nd and, after 1.5 months, no one knows what's going on.
-
Why do you think Windows laptops have gotten so good lately? Because Apple's been kicking their asses in terms of design and longevity. Samsung historically has been quiet about releasing its laptops, and the pre-CES showing they did caught most of us by surprise. I mean, they've barely even provided review units for websites on some of their high-end machines. They'll eventually get their marketing down, however our wallets will start to take a hit.

Apple was good because Steve Jobs wanted it to be good.
You can check quality permanently and keep a good image up.
After Jobs died, Cook started to screw things up, not looking at quality anymore.
Result are permanent problems with hard and software taking away Apples prestige image. Also they started to spam release hardware.
People paid them those +500€/$ for quality and reliability and the reasons to do it again are fading.
That's the main reason I'm wating for 770Z5E and not for a new MAC. I don't like Cook and what he made out of Apple - in other words, they lost my trust. -
A bit OT: am I the only one who would have liked a little less silver and a bit more black? Or at least some darker silver... Asus UX51VZ looks sexier to me

Btw notebookcheck now places the 8870m above the 7870m, just below the 670m, but without any benchmarks. -

256GB SSD in Swiss.. -
The choice of benchmark released for 8870M by AMD leads me to suspect the 7870M was retweaked for increased gaming performance -- the 7870M was, as I recall, considered as "powerful" as a 670M by 3Dmark, but played games as well as a 660M.
If I'm right, we might see gaming performance kicked to 670M levels.
EDIT: Out of curiosity, I trolled notebookcheck's numbers for the 650M, and compared to the 670M, and in all the handpicked, no-doubt-cleverly-chosen settings AMD released, the games seemed to have run faster than a 670M, with the exception of Crysis 2, for which AMD's claimed 22% increase was between the 660M and the 670m. The other thing notable was the lawlSkyrim performance, which ended up being comparable to the 675MX.
Don't ask, man. Just don't. -
I would prefer 17 inch because I travel by car anyway, so no big deal
But for TN-Displays 1000€+ is way to much. It's the display you watch all the time. -
Nonsense! I stare at my specifications and cuddle them!

Don't underestimate e-peens!
You don't need it to buy it but you will need it to keep it for longer
If you could go to future and take the one with biggest e-peen, you could spare the money to upgrade for a looong time.
Fact: time decreases size :/ -
Btw there is already a preview of the series 7 ultra on some site, so a chronos one should come soon!
-

It's in Russian, and the google translation isn't that great.
If anyone here speaks Russian and could summarize it they would be awesome! -
From what I have understood through the translation, that unit has not dGPU, cooling system seems very poor (but seems to be proportional to ULV cpu and none dGPU) it has only mSATA SSD and it has 2 Ram slot (none soldered Ram).
I wonder if unit with dGPU has a similar motherboard and a similar cooling system but with 2 heat pipe. There is even a big empty space near to fan.
(just to be clear, we are speaking about the 13" model)

Is the series 5 a TN screen or PLS?

Thanks for your thoughts guys. So, it looks like all of the signals going in and coming out of a combo jack are just as good as dedicated headphone and mic jacks in terms of sound quality. As long as there's no trade off in terms of quality, I'm quite happy. I've looked online, and can't seem to find a comparison or someone discussing the technical differences so I'm still quite intrigued if someone comes across anything which discusses this.
Thanks!

Does anyone know the model number for the US, fully loaded version? That is, i7, 16gb RAM, 8870 w 2gb VRAM, touchscreen, large SSD?
Also, I saw in the manual that some models have a TPM. Does anyone know which models have that? -
My guess would be the high end ones if not all?
Like the chronos h and the ultra?
Not sure though... -
USA have UB at the end so it should be NP780Z5E-S01UB or S02UB
-
What is the difference between the 770Z5E and the 780Z5E?
-
770Z5E have matte display FullHD. -
Does anyone of you have experience with waiting for a product on amazon.fr? Status has been 'bientôt disponsible' for quite some time. I would like to know how long that will take because I'm tired of waiting
.

If anyone has any news on release dates or soldered ram, please post! Even if a little birdy told you, that's fine! -
Can this baby handle Crysis 3?

I've been monitoring this forum for the last few weeks, really excited about this laptop as I'm in the market for a new one and this ticks all the boxes!
But I've just joined to share this little bit of information I've found:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/flagship/NP780Z5E-T01UK/index.html
It's the same old blurb seen on the fishingtree site. But what's interesting is the Model number in the page URL, NP780Z5E- T01UK. Not sure if the T just stands for touch and/or this is just a UK numbering system - but it certainly shows it will be available in the UK at some point (soon I hope!)! -
780z5e models will be available in Best Buy, IL, USA from 17th of this month.
-
And still no info if all new Chronos have PLS displays
Guess they are not even aware of how important a good screen is.
