I seems im not the only one having problems with this touch pad. i posted a thread earlier but didnt see this one.

missing the palm check and sensitivity buttons from the settings so it jumps all over the place when i type.

something on the touchpad is switching num lock on and off all the time very annoying

if i use the older drivers that shipped with it i seem to have no way of scrolling the page down, like the mouse wheel should.

not happy with my purchase so far and wondering do i have grounds to return it :(

read through this thread to find the sensitivity settings - you need to run ETDAniConf.exe

Does anyone have the driver that is one iteration before the one that is out now (I'm not sure of the version number)? I reformatted my computer and forgot to backup my touchpad driver before doing so.

The driver version prior to this one I had zero problems with; I was very happy with the touchpad. With the most recent driver the touchpad seems to miss two and three finger taps constantly and I have dragging issues where the touchpad with the old driver behaved perfectly. I've played with the sensitivity and such but nothing seems to help.

I know I updated once ebfore and had the same problems and a driver rollback made it work great again so I'm nearly sure it is simply the driver. I just need the older one and I can't find it.

    Thanks everyone.

Agreed - I would also like to roll back to the older one, if anyone can post it here. Cheers.

Not to be rude, but if you had to get used to the new one, then it must be different. And if you are used to the new one, why would you consider going back?

I wouldn't roll back if the newest version of the driver didn't have problems detecting multiple finger tapping. I've had the laptop awhile and went through multiple driver upgrades and this is the only one that ever gave me issues. I wouldn't recommend using the old driver if you aren't having particular problems though.

Are you sure it installed? Sometimes I've seen the elan software uninstall the installed version and then require another execution to do the install of the intended version.

Well I don't think it is a problem with what sean.e uploaded because I used it and it restored all the functionality that I was missing with .16.1

That's exactly what happened. I needed to uninstall -> reboot - > install driver once -> reboot -> install driver again -> reboot. Now it works as expected.

The one remaining issue is I can't find the edge-scroll or right-click settings. Both are disabled, so I have to use 2-finger scroll and 2-finger tap for right-click.

How do you adjust the sensitivity? I have settings for scroll, double click and pointer speed. As it is now I have to leave One Finger Tapping turned off which disables two finger tapping. It's really Irritating.

Search the touchpad installer package for ETDAniConf.exe then run that program (if you can't find it there then search the www). It includes a sensitivity control.

To help those trying to find it, on my Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5B-S01UB the advanced touchpad settings were easily set using C:\Program Files\Elantech\ETDAniConf.exe (from a tip on thread here). To easily find and make further adjustments, consider creating a shortcut to it on the desktop.

Might I suggest new owners first try changing those advanced touchpad settings with the existing driver, before dealing with what sounds like obvious issues from updating/rolling back the driver versions or editing the registry :)

Hi, i've been reading through the posts since I have the same problem....however, the problem only starts when I plug something into the HDMI port!! Has anyone else noticed that? Once I plug the TV in, the trackpad because very jumpy jittery. And it seems to be somehow connected with the HDMI. I have the lastest Elan driver and have tried adjusting the sensitivity settings. But like I said it's only an issue when using the HDMI port.

    Hey NBR,
Been a long time lurker, never posted. Always found answers with you guys.
So this issue has been troubling me as well, but I've found that holding the Alt key makes my Elan install works fine. The scrolling is jumpy, as everyone's noticed, but the side to side remains smooth (at least for me). When holding alt and scrolling though, it seems to work just fine. Anyone else find this or have a solution to make it always behave? Right now the not-smooth scrolling is killing me.
    Thanks!

Double post, sorry. Figured it out, it was dealing with a bit of UI tweak software I use called Preme. Dealt with it and contacted the developer.

When I hold alt and scroll it seems to act the same why it does when I switch scrolling from interia scroll to autoscroll in the configuration menu. Have you tried doing this and see if it gets similar results? I don't have problems scrolling normally though so I'm not the best test subject.

Hello, any ideas how to adjust tapping sensitivity? ETDAniConf seems to adjust just scrolling sensitivity. Other problem is, that two finger scrolling falls in sleep some times and needs to be activated by clicking the pad, because I cant use tapping as it is. Is there any solution to fix this "sleeping" thing?

I have a quick question regarding the Elan trackpad. Hopefully it's not too far off topic...

I just received my Series 7 Chronos in the mail today and I'm trying to get used to this new trackpad. It seems like the lower right hand corner gets "stuck" every once in a while and in order to right click I have to press closer to the center. Is anyone else having problems similar to this? It seems to be working fine again now.

    Thanks

I have a similar issue with right-clicking on the lower right corner; it almost feels like there's a spring missing and the trackpad doesn't return all the way up. I was thinking of returning it, but it works if you press closer to the center like you mentioned (or do a two-finger right-click).

Mine may be doing the same thing. For me, it seems to be that any pressure placed underneath the touchpad actually causes the right click to engage and stick. It seems that the frame is very thin and loose and could be the culprit. So if I am holding this on my lap and not on a desk, it sometimes pushes the frame to touch the touchpad and disble or push in the right-click. Also see this if I place any pressure on the frame to the left of the touchpad when it is on a desk. Is mine the only one doing this and should be returned or does any one else see this happening?

Whao! Thank you for that! ;)
Until we have an update or another solution, you can just disable the "scroll other windows" option in preme (no need to remove preme entirely).

Hey guys. :) I posted a similar concern on the NP700Z5C thread, but wanted to share my experience here. I've also noticed the "sticking" and the need to right-click near mid-pad. In addition, while unboxing I saw that the right corner of the pad itself was a good 1-2mm deeper than the left side.

In reverse-engineering the problem, it seems quite stupid: the right spring/button under the pad appears to be mounted farther left than you'd expect, i.e., instead of being mounted at the far right corner of the pad (mirroring the left side), it instead feels like it's almost in the center. I'm dying to tear mine down to confirm and see if it's an easy fix (but that's not likely!).

Another bit of data: I went to a Best Buy and Microcenter, and played with three other 7-series NP700 machines -- pretty much the same external shell. One (a 17" NP700Z7C) was identical to mine, same exact trackpad issue. Two others, HOWEVER, were absolutely perfect (15" NP700Z5A and NP700Z5C) -- the action on the right click exactly mirrored the left. Same location, same light pressure. All sides of the pad were also even and level (no dips).

So I've sent mine back to Amazon as a "defective trackpad" despite other owners on the other thread saying their replacements had the same issue. I wouldn't be so optimistic if I hadn't seen two perfect pads with my own eyes.

Not sure what I'll do if the replacement has the same problem -- probably keep it and stick with the 2-finger tap solution. But for $1000+ it kinds of irks me.

To echo what you've stated, I ordered 3 NP700Z5C-01US and all 3 have perfect touchpads. Right side clicks just as easily as the left side.

    Hello everybody,
I have an issue with touchpad (I looked around a little bit but didn't find anything on the same issue).
My system is an NP700Z5A-S02IT and the driver version of touchpad is 10.7.16.1.
My issue is the following: the system boots up pretty quickly (in about 40-45 seconds), but at the beginning the touchpad has only basic functionalities activated (means only one finger scroll and left click; even right click is not working). Then, after 4 minutes or so, all the functionalities are activated and everything is working properly. Nothing very serious of course...but very annoying anyway.

This was not happening some weeks ago, when everything was working fine since the very first moments after booting. Probably I made some updates somewhere (or auto update of something) and then the problem appeared.

Any suggestion on how to solve the issues?

    Thanks,
    Ulderico

That's interesting. I have seen the same problem on my NP900X4C and had attributed it to the Samsung Fast Boot delaying the full installation of the touchpad driver. Perhaps it is a more fundamental bug that we should be passing over to Samsung.

I too believe it is fast boot within easy software settings that causes this. I actually played around with it last installation on a np700z5b and caused this issue to occur with fast boot. Although I get full trackpad functionality in about 30 seconds, four minutes sounds a bit excessive.

First run Easy Software Manager and see if it offers an updated Elan touchpad driver. If not, got to the support > downlaods for a new Samsung model (eg NP800Z5C), download the driver package, unzip it and run the setup. I think the current newest is 10.17.16.1.

downloaded and installed this. Its a little bit better, but still not perfect. Hopefully Samsung fix this in the future.

I have this same problem, as a gamer, that the touchpad doesn't work when the buttons are pressed. Example, i cannot click and drag to look around in World of Warcraft if i am also pressing "w" to move foward. A very frustrating aspect of this touchpad that no one seemed to respond with a solution to.
Please Help, because if it cant be fixed i am definitely going to return this.
    Thanks.

Normally, the reversing of the standard scroll is handled at the individual program level. You can try seeing what" EGS_Reverse_Enable" and "SC_Reverse_Enable" in the registry do.

Search the registry for "DisableWhenType_Enable" and change the value from 1 to 0. There's a cornucopia of other settings at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\GroupOption\SmartPad .

    Any other suggestions?

    Trackpad unresponsive after Hibernate.

Has anyone else had this problem? The trackpad stops working after resuming from Hibernate. I have enabled the samsung quick restart, and

The trackpad does function (with all it's quirks) on a fresh restart, and after short sleep/resume cycles.

Hi - Just joined the forum. Had my S01UB for a couple weeks. My touchpad rattles as if it's loose on the left and right of the bottom edge. Is that the way its supposed to be? It kinda makes the sound a loose space bar makes. Thanks.

When do you notice that it is loose? Are you getting confused by the left and right buttons which are under the pad surface nearest the edge of the computer?

I think I may be having the same problem as you. When ever I tap (it's noticeable when clicking the touchpad as well) the the left hand side it make a loud tapping sound like it's loose. It doesn't happen on the right hand side. If I push down on the touchpad and move my finger around for a while it seems to sort it. Although, it doesn't feel any looser. It's such a small issue but that tapping sound is really annoying.
