Nvidia released Geforce 304.48 Beta drivers. For some strange reason, i cannot download them. It can't find a eligible graphics card.

The people who hate the appearance of the keyboard, isn't what they actually hate. How can you all like this lappy even though it has mushy keys? Scissor is a few steps behind mechanical, whereas rubber dome is light years away. Yeah sure, the keyboard has antighosting, but you sacrifice tactile feeling for that. MSI GT notebooks have antighosting, but because MSI is incompetent, they make rubber dome look good. However, they did learn from their mistakes when they released the GT60 and 70. Keys finally register like they should. If they don't, your lappy is defected, get over it.

I never knew having a brighter screen could mop the floor with an average screen. No ugly color saturation, non of that IPS useless nonsense. JUST brighter screen. I really praise sammy for that.

I like the keyboard, I didn't at first but that happens with every new keyboard I try. :)

The display is simply phenomenal. My wife was commenting how easy it is to see at the angle she sits at in the chair next to our couch. I can't say enough good things about the panel.

On nvidia website, when trying to download driver, it will tell us to go to laptop website to update the driver instead.
Cant get a screenshot now, will post it later.

I was having the same problem with the Nvidia site, it wasn't coming up with any driver
I eventually found and downloaded the 302.59 elsewhere and, even though it had the 675 listed as supported, itthen gave me an error saying a compatible graphics card wasn't detected.

I eventually found a 3rd party site with the same driver but which had a modified .ini file included and that installed fine. I've just downloaded the official 304 but I'm expecting the same thing again.

What makes msi's keyboard better than samsung's keyboard? I heard a lot of keyboard issues on gt70 such as some keys not registering or keyboard being very stiff and some areas of keyboard brighter than the others. I wont have a chance to change it so these things do matter to me.

And brightness isnt the only difference i guess...

Nothing, it's just another chiclet keyboard, but it does have anti ghosting of 10 or more keys. If you don't mind the mushyness of the sammy, then scissor switch on chiclet is irrelevant.

here is something interesting... I used the Easy File Transfer built into Windows seven to transfer everything from my old PC. And now... the animations do not work when shifting modes. I don't get the little pop ups on the screen that tell me what mode im in when I switch the dial, and the gamer mode animation doesn't play either. Anyone else experience this or know what this is? Maybe its a setting that got ported over? figured I would see if anyone else ran into this before I call samsung. I hate customer service/tech support phone waits!

It would help if you told us which region you are from.
I emailed samsung in the USA about the 7979M and this is what they said.

"We appreciate you contacting Samsung Electronics and being a valued customer. We understand that you want to know when the Samsung Series 7 Gamer with Radeon HD7970M graphics card will be available in the US. Let us give you the information. Unfortunately, as of now we do not have the exact date of release of that laptop model. The Samsung Series 7 Gamer NP700G7C-S01US laptop is the current available gamer laptop that we have that has NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 675M Graphics Card. All of available products of Samsung can be seen online on our website which is Samsung.com"

So I don't know doesn't sound like soon, I wish because I am waiting to buy one with a 7970M.

Yes it comes with the unit. You can even grab it from the support page download section for this unit at Samsung's site.

Edit: autocomplete typo in my first message. It's called SwitchMode or something.

Edit2: in the download section here, called ModeShift.

Enthusiast level.. 5/10.. not going to argue that.

I'd be buying 680M SLI and installing beta drivers every week otherwise.

Has anyone found a way to disable the touchpad in the other modes besides the Gaming Mode? ModeShift utility only works to disable the touchpad in gaming mode. However I want/need to disable the "poorly layed out wide touchpad" in all modes. It just constantly interferes with my typing when my palms brush up against the sides of the touchpad when typing. Annoying to say the least! (by the way this is not only a knock on this Samsung model but all other brands and model laptops that have similar "poorly layed out wide touchpad" placement! Simply bad ergonomic planning on the designers). Otherwise, this laptop has been excellent with no other problems so far. No heat issues at all. no BSOD, etc. Runs cool, and reliable and is fast as lightning. Just hate the wide touchpad lay out. Who knows what hack to disable it other than remove the touchpad driver?

I played Crysis 2 on very high at native res for hours and didn't get a hint of slowdown once. Can't benchmark it, but It's definitely well over 30fps. Very smooth.

You don't need a special hack to disable the touchpad on all modes. In some seating positions, I tend to rest my left palm on the touchpad while typing and one of the first things that I did was figure out how to disable the touchpad. Go to:

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse -> ELAN

Check disable touchpad when USB pointing device is plugged in. Apply changes.

I use a USB wireless mouse. I'm not sure based if it the touchpad can be disabled this way if you are using a non-USB bluetooth mouse.

CurbHopper, thanks for that tip. It works for me but I just wish that they provided an easy icon switch or function key to turn the touchpad on and off like there is on some other laptops. Even though I want to disable it for when I am typing documents, I also want to be able to just as easily re-enable it when needed. Having to have to go deep into the control panel menus each time is a bit tedious. They should have just included a Fn key to perform this simple but useful task. Thanks for your tip! It will serve for now.

The fan barely spins on anything except when you are using the GPU heavily, aka, gaming.

If it's a game that doesn't use the 675m, the fan usually doesn't really kick in either.

Basically, all in all, it's quiet unless if the 675m kicks in and assuming where you're using it isn't hot, not out of the ordinary temp. When the fan does kick in though, the upper left portion of the keyboard does get warm.

Help please. For some reason, no games or benchmarks are working full screen - If I Alt/Enter to windowed it's all fine, but anything fullscreen I just get a completely blank screen - almost like it's turned off.

    Any ideas anyone?

If you don't like all the extra fancy stuff that the Samsung touchpad gives you, you could use a different driver, I did that with my Asus by downloading a standard driver from the touchpad drivers website, might work, worth a try.

Hello, not sure if your comment was in response to my posts about disabling the touchpad, but just to clarify if you did not understand the issue... It's not the fancy functions provided by the ELAN touchpad driver. I like the functions that are there.
It is that the physical layout and placement of the touchpad itself is intrusive during typing for me. If your palms brush up or touch the sides of the wide touchpad during typing it moves the cursor off to some far off place on the screen and many times I am typing and my words are not entered where I thought I was typing them. So many times I am typing and not looking at the screen and find out that the cursor has moved off to some other place on the screen and I lost all my typing effort and have to replace the cursor focus and retype everything over and over again. Get it? I like all the provided functions of the touchpad for other things.

There are a number of people that have posted, that prefer a more conventional mouse pad, it's there to help those people, It wasn't posted for anyone in particular, as I haven't yet acquired the Samsung, it was more of a general post. I'm used to a more conventional mouse pad myself, I find the the the mouse pads with extra functions more of a nuisance than a asset.

Holy smokes! You are so right hfm! They did include a FN key F5 toggle to disable/enable the touchpad !!! The F5 key looks more like an "Open the email" icon picture on it so I thought it was for email access. So I never tried to hit the FN+F5 key. Dang, I think I am going to give you a +1 for that. So simple, right in front of my face. I feel like egg on my face now for ranting about them not putting that FN key in place... but they did! My stupid lazy bad. Thanks!!!!

    Sorry to ask this again..
those with this laptop(gtx675m), is the driver update must be through samsung?
i believe the current version of my driver is 8.17.12.9601.
    however nvidia series is 304.48.
How do i update it? or i must wait for samsung to do it?

currently has no problem with games, but would definitely want to update it if it can improve frame rate etc..

There is no official driver that directly supports the 675M.

    Hopefully the next one will.

There are drivers out with modded .inf that do. Look at laptopvideo2go.com.

Pulling this out of my rear end, but my assumption is that they are waiting for AMD to get their act together with a final driver before releasing it.

It's outed in the manual for the NP700G7C, they list models having these three GPU:
    AMD 6970M
    nVidia GTX 675M
    AMD 7970M

I would imagine it's coming. Hopfeully they will allow people to buy the GPU/Heatsink, would be great to get that into this chassis with this screen. :)
