I've just tried passing over my buttons multiple times and the only way for me to activate them is to actually touch them. Granted it's a very light touch, but I can't get them to activate for me. I think it's different for everyone. As my friend can activate them. Though not every time he passes his fingers over the buttons.

Our bodies creates a small amount of electricity, not enough to power anything per say, but it's enough to use capacitive screens and such. Everyone generates a varying degree of micro-volts. Some more than others. So they would be more likely to set off a capacitive screen. This isn't really samsung's fault. (Not saying anyone is complaining about it, just saying, the iphone and most android devices use the same tech.)

I prefer this kind over the older touch as the older way wouldn't work to great for fingers (since you'd need an actual stylus) and using buttons can cause wear or even break easily and then your buttons will cease to work. So it's not a complaint for me, and my friend admitted that it wouldn't be for him either. It could be annoying if someone could wave their hand over it and mess up a lan game or such. But honestly, If I'm lan gaming i'll be wired in. So it's no problem for me.

It's pretty much something we'll have to live with since it's the "Now" tech. We'll just have to be conscience of this is all.

I also just wished to state that I didn't take your comment as complaining I took it as informative and was curious to try myself. Above was my findings, theories, ideas, opinions and possible conclusion. (I didn't want anyone to take my reply the wrong way.)

A question to anyone, when your turn your touchpad off, the light does a little flashy thing and then it's off. Have you left your computer for a while, like say overnight, to come back and the touchpad is on, but the light is off? This has happened to me on occasion. I figure it's probably a software issue and will be fixed sooner of later, but it's just something I've noticed and wondered if anyone else has had this issue from time to time.

I primarily use a mouse with the Trackpad off when usb plugged in. I wouldn't get to see that here. Does it do this in all modes? I ask as Gamer has a mode to turn the track pad off.

Per SiSandra there are no other ACHI controllers for the second drive or otherwise so they both are run on the same controller and are Sata III. I still have to look further into the iSSD but I have my suspicions.

I'll try that. I hadn't tried that out. I usually always use a mouse, but like being able to use the touchpad at times. (Basic internet surf and such.) So I don't have it set to turn off if there is a usb mouse plugged in.

I'll see what happens when it's in gamer mode over night and post back my findings.

Yes this is added information that is important and not surprising. Wireless is a flaky inconsistent connection which is why I never use it for anything unless that is mobile and I cannot hard wire it. I even hard wire my laptops when ever they are at desks in my house.

A wireless connection sends out a signal in all directions, but depending on the antenna that signal can have different shapes Understanding 802.11 Antennas - An On-Line Tutorial and any other device putting off a signal on the same wavelenght will interfere with any other device. So the wireless standards are designed to allow for this but there is always a cost in interference when another wireless device is on the same frequency. So putting 2 computers right next to each other, both of which are likely sitting on 2.4 ghz wifi G connected to the same access point on the same channel means interference.

Now on top of that you will have an issue where the access point may not be able to handle the bandwidth as well.

The moral of the story is, always hard wire any device you can and save the wireless spectrum for the phones, and mobile items that must use it. Alot of people are going to run into this more and more as people are often too lazy to run wires so everything from printers to TVs and consoles and even your home phone might be trying to connect in the crowded 2.4 ghz space, then people complain and buy more powerful access points which means more interference from neighbors who could be 2 houses away. And if you live in an apartment then the interference can get really bad.

Great way of putting it. I use wire where ever I can and use wireless only if wired can't get to where I am.

Leave it to Nvidia to mess with us, lol. Oh well, as someone stated earlier in this forum, new stuff is out all the time so it's to be expected. The 670 is still a beastly card. And still is plenty powerful for me. :)

Another update; After being down for the day, my 120GB Mushkin Calisto SSD dies so setting up the old system to get the 480GB SSD here was a real pain in the rear. Still not fully up and running but getting there.

No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the image off the 750GB to the SSD. Windows 7 backup and restore just refused. I shrunk the partiton well below the 480 GB to no avail. The I tried an external to no avail The closest I got was with an external 320GB non AF drive but then it came back as could not find a taget drive compatible with the image. So I had to install Windows 7 as new.

Make sure you DL and have all the drivers and software on the 2nd HDD. Now I am at the point all drivers are in and everything is running without conflicts. I notice before with DPCLAT befoe I would get an occasional spike over the 2,000 US but with out the Samsung software no more spikes.

Now the iSSD is just SLOW to write. I have it setup as mentioned with zip.s going to that drive before install. Unzipping a file is about 1/8 the speed of doing it to the desktop with the boot SSD..........................

Started to get some functionality back. In doing so I was mindfull of others posting about DPC latency issues. I also noticed with the full install it was being hit every so often with high latency spikes.

I noticed once mode shift and easy settings wer installed (the only two I have enabled so far) I was getting a huge spike every 60 seconds. Through trouble shooting it turns out smartsettings.exe was causing the issue. Went to task scheduler and set SmartSettings task to disable. Once rebooted smartsettings.exe was no longer loaded and the 60 second spikes were gone. As far as I can tell everything is functional still.

I should note while making certain changes with the easy settings app you will see those latency spikes. Once the app is closed though they do not seem to be repetative in nature.........................

I installed one of my heaviest CPU loaded apps, Canon DPP batch proccessing 136 RAW files to JPG. To say the least the i7-3820 just eats up the q9200. at 3.2 GHz I would contsantly see temps at 90c+ by the end, and that is on my old cooling pad, at to do the conversion took a minimum of 10 min 45 seconds. Well now, without a cooler, I only see 85c and the time was reduced to 7 min 10 seconds. That means the CPU is proccessing 50% more pictures in the same time frame......

I own the game and played it for awhile. I had the same issue before, but can't remember what I did to fix it. I lost the install when I redid my laptop, so I'll have to install SC2 and see what I did to fix it. But in point, I had the same issue but it's fixable. Try googling that error and see what you come up with. (Think that's how I fixed mine.)

Here is a little info on that:

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX - Notebookcheck.net Tech

Show's it's Kepler and looks to blow the 675 out of the water. Damn Nvidia and their renaming schemes. The name seems to show a slight difference. But if the specs show, it's a huge difference.

Yep, the Z7C it's a different laptop, I was referring it's the new itteration of the model, nowhere near as powerful as the Series 7 Gamer.

Altough, I guess Samsung will upgrade the Series 7 Gamer soon, as the new graphic cards became available and prices will get down, but that's just a guess.

Anybody having issues with slow detection of USB boot ups?? Shouldn't it automatically detect my mice and other USB devices at startup? it takes about 4-6 seconds for that USB sound to come up detecting my mouse and some other USB components I already have added before boot. And Tanware, totally forgot you need Pro to recognize 16 GB and up thanks.

There should be something it either catches on or a spring type catch that is maybe missing? Unfortunately the best thing to do is to contact Samsung.

I was wondering if anyone has tried an external 3D display with this laptop. I'm thinking about trying if/when I go to my friend's house. (He has a 3D display, says it hooks up by HDMI as well as VGA, and DVI.) If I try I'll use HDMI. But was wondering if anyone else has tried that yet.

Just ordered Nvidia 3D Vision 2 kit! It'll be here sometime in the next 6 days. I have a good feeling this will work! My YouTube channel is Urmombentover. I will be posting more videos today (Monday Oct 8) unless I have to work. Otherwise by Tuesday for sure! Sorry I've been so busy lately guys. Not to mention more conservative with my moneys.

Just so you know, you may have wasted your money. The 3D vision stuff is not enabled on this laptop. I've tried all I could unless someone figured it out, which would be nice if they shared it with all of us. I have a 3D vision ready monitor (The ViewSonic V3D245) with glasses I have been using on my desktop for some time, but I can't get the 3D to work on the laptop no matter how I connect it. I don't if I'm doing anything wrong, I tried HDMI, found out though HDMI doesn't like 120Hz and 1080p (at least with this monitor, going to scrounge up a VGA cable and try that.) If someone has figured out how to run 3D vision let me know as it's not in my Nvidia Control panel right now.

And I tried plugging in via vga, went to single display, nothing. No 3D stereoscopic settings. The laptop is running the latest driver for it. 306. something. Yeah again I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but it seems that despite the fact the gpu is 3D ready the laptop itself doesn't want to work with it.

Let me know if you can enable the 3D emitter on your laptop by having the 3D kit. Maybe it's just the 306 drivers that don't like my monitor.

Note: the weird thing is, using only whql drivers on my desktop, the GTX 550 ti driver disc 275.33 didn't support my monitor. I ended up going to 285.62. I don't know how many more drivers I may have missed between 275.33 and 285.62 but that one worked with my 3D vision ready monitor. I was using the latest drivers for my desktop (306.23 I think) but had read many users had fps drops and such.So I downgraded. We may just have to wait for Nvidia to release a driver update that will recognize an external screen.

Video is uploading now! Check my channel shortly and look at what I did. Though after I made the vid, I looked at your pic. It is clear to me that the "O" key is a little different that the F1 key, and obviously, it's larger than the F1 key. Which may introduce some differences, but if not, may make it easier to use this method!

Can you test something for me? !!!!!
Here is what I think the issue is:
The 3D setup we need does NOT appear in your Nvidia control panel, right? The reason it is not there, is because when you installed/updated your graphics drivers, your 3D vision emitter probably was not plugged into your USB, so therefor, it didn't download the drivers associated with it. I read that all 3D Vision drivers are now included, but only download if the emitter is detected DURING the download/install process. So here's what you're going to do. Obviously, make sure your 3D vision kit is plugged in. Secondly, we're going to be doing this with the NP700G7C's monitor, not the other monitor you said you have. So unplug that. Now go to NVIDIA DRIVERS 306.23WHQL and make sure its on the GTX675M!
I came across this info from Nvidia
3D Vision USB Driver Does Not Get Installed
    Issue
After installing the NVIDIA graphics driver, if the 3D Vision USB emitter was not
plugged in, the 3D Vision USB Controller driver does not get installed. If you plug in the
emitter after installing the driver, the indicator light on the emitter will flash red and will
    not turn green.
    Resolution
To fix this issue, NVIDIA recommends performing a driver re-install with the 3D Vision
USB emitter connected. Please download the latest drivers and follow these steps:
1 Plug in the 3D Vision USB emitter.
    2 Re-install the NVIDIA driver.
Select Custom (Advanced) and then select Perform a clean Installation during the
    driver installation.
    3 Reboot.
Make sure you select CUSTOM (advances) !!!!
Please let me know if this worked for you.
Basically what it's going to do is uninstall any existing drivers you have and reinstall the latest drivers (keep in mind these are from 9-13-2012) . . and hopefully, with the IR emitter plugged in, it'll recognize/detect that it's there, and go on to install the 3D vision drivers!

I just got this laptop a couple days ago from Amazon.com but DataVision sold and shipped it (NP700G7C-S01US). But I noticed three things that make me think I may have gotten a dud?

    1. I didn't get any Windows recovery disc or Driver disc at all. No discs were in the box?? And I know that other people have gotten discs from watching their unboxing videos. Did Samsung stop supplying discs with this computer? I know the box wasn't open previously because it had the Samsung tape unbroken over it.

    2. I put in the Skyrim disc in to install the game and it makes a rattling sound and does not read the disc. I tried Mass Effect 2 and it read that though; it also reads blu rays fine. My Asus G73JH reads my Skyrim disc fine though so I don't think it's the disc. So, I'm not sure if it's a problem with my DVD drive?? Does anyone else have trouble with Skyrim disc not reading on this computer?

    3. While playing Mass Effect 2 for about 30 mins, my GPU temp went to a max of 87 degrees and CPU temp went to a max of 81 degrees. Ambient temp where I live is about 65 degrees. My cpu/gpu temps seem really high as non-OC regular temps. I know my friend's Alienware M18x with same cpu/gpu cards only goes up to 76 max GPU and 68 max CPU with Mass Effect 2. Graphics settings were all full 1080p obviously since the game isn't graphically intensive. But the left side of the keyboard does get pretty warm to the touch when playing games (I know some have this problem but others don't seem to).

Are these problems I should be concerned about and maybe return for a new computer? Please help, as I only have a time window to make a decision on this. Thanks.

I don't know if that will work as the emitter is built into the monitor and is tied via vga/hdmi/dvi. It automatically activates when the display switches to 3D mode. I can try to re-install the drivers with the monitor hooked in, maybe the drivers will see the emitter somehow.

Oh. I was under the impression you were using the actual kit, like the one I ordered (and by the way, will be here Thursday). See, your issue could have something to do with it not playing nicely through the vga/HDMI/DVI..
Then again, if you follow the steps with it HOOKED UP FIRST, it should work. The link I posted is the latest drivers for the Samsung Series 7 Gamer's GTX675M. Though you won't be using the kit's IR emitter, still make sure you have your monitor hooked up and do the reinstall. When I did this yesterday, upon doing "custom Install" it does erase all the drivers (and I would recommend even the save files associated) and starts fresh. Maybe it'll recognize your monitor.
****Is you monitor officially Nvidia 3D Vision certified?****

Do you have the 3D version? You have a tall enter key which I would hate but I wonder if there is a pattern to why the keyboard has a different layout.

    Here is my monitor:

    Viewsonic » V3D245

I will give that a try later. It's almost dinner time. I'll let you know. Also keep us informed on if the kit works for you. I may just buy an emitter. (Since I already have the glasses.) If it does work.
