there are only 5400rpm HDD at 1tb.

Samsung NP700G7C-S01US Series 7 Gaming Notebook - Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3GHz, 16GB DDR3, 2TB HDD, Blu-ray Player, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M, 17.3 Full HD, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com
This one is with Nvidia 675M... Where is the 7970 Card?
Isnt it expensive for $1899.99? I was thinking around $1600 range for 7970.. is it non existence? -
splinter22prime - You are right. I did not look close enough to notice that the US version had a 2tb hard drive which as MR MM mentioned equates to 5400rpm. The unit I ordered (non US) has 1.5 gb at 7200rpm (750GB 7200rpm HDD + 750GB 7200rpm HDD (1.5TB) with ExpressCache 8 GB SSD)
wow, that sucks for the US version. I am removing one of the 750gb hard drives and replacing it with a Samsung 830 512gb SSD. I will keep the other 750gb so if I have any warranty issues, I will just swap the hdd out. -
Keep in mind that the 7970M was just made available on the 24th so if the US version will have the 7970M, it may be another month before we see it. Samsung has not even put the "US" version 675M (accidently leaked a month ago) back on their web site despite the Ivy Bridge NDA being lifted. We won’t know for sure what the US options truly are until Samsung puts it back up on the US Samsung website or a retailer/reseller offers the US version in something other than the 675M non 3D version.

And for how much? -
Yeah I'm a big fan of Samsung esp their TV/screen quality. But I wonder how much this laptop will be with 7970... I dont think $1700-$2000 is a friendly.... I rather buy a $1300 Desktop. I'm praying it'll be around $1600.... but thats unlikely ?
-
My max price is $1800 ...
Do you guys think that I can have the 7970 with it? -
I been reading this thread. Can someone provide with a link that Samsung will have 7970? It cant be later than May, right?
-
Proventage has it for $1809: PROVANTAGE: Samsung NP700G7C-S01US-Intel-Core I7-3610QM-Ram: 16 GB-2 TB-Blu-Ray-17.3 inch-TFT
EDIT: Newegg has it too !! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=OTC-Froogle-_-Notebooks-_-SAMSUNG-_-34131270 -
Hi everyone. I'm also interested in this laptop for the same reasons several others have stated: it is a gaming laptop that I would not be embarrassed to use in a business setting. The one thing that still could be a deal-breaker for me is whether or not the battery saver mode will surely switch off the discrete graphics and activate the integrated graphics to maximize battery life. I've read different articles/reviews that have said one way or the other, but in all cases their tests have produced very unimpressive battery life (<3 hours). If someone who has this laptop can confirm the battery life on power saver mode, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I think it's quite embarresing to sell a "Gaming Laptop" with a 5400rpm HDD. Do they even think about the loading times? Who really needs the extra 500gb if the drive is so slow. I'm really interested in this Laptop because it would be almost the perfect deal (7970M,nice screen+keyboard) but it has only 2 problems: no SSD and the fans can't be cleaned easily. I heard that the chassis will be changed in the US-Version so i'm hoping for a change like in the Asus G75. That would be really cool because already without dust in it, it already has some high temps. And about the slow HDD, i know you will say just put in a SSD. That's already my intention but the second drive should be a 7200rpm to be a perfect deal for me. I think that these old 5400rpm drives should be only in some low budget laptops.
Here is a review of the EU-Version:
Review Samsung Series 7 Gamer 700G7A Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
There were also several different EU-Versions...some with the slower but larger 2TB-HDD and with a 2670QM. The one tested here is with just 1.5TB but faster HDD and a little slower CPU (2630QM). Also I saw a 3D-Version in the UK. -
-
Rayt - I too am wondering this. I, like you have read some articles that say the power save mode turns off the discrete graphics card and others that say it does not. I had talked to Samsung about this while I was there and they said it does in fact turn off the discrete graphics card while in power save mode. If no one posts the test results, I will on Wednesday when I get the unit. I have read reviews that state <1 hour of battery life and I have read reviews that state 3-4 hours of battery life. Lots of info but no real definitive information. If this laptop has less than 1 hour of battery life, this unit is going back to the reseller.
-
-
What do you think the price will be? -
Well if the cost is $1899.99 with GTX 675... I'm sure the cost of the unit with 7970 will be $1999.99. Which is too pricy for me. I'm hoping it's the same as $1899.99 or less. $1699.99 will make me happy haha.

This computer needs BTO options. Not everyone wants to pay for 16GB of RAM or two 7200RPM HDDs.
-
No one in the US has the HD7970M version yet. The minute it pops up, I am sure it will be announced in this forum/thread first. So far only overseas (Europe) resellers have it available with the HD7970M. One of the forum members said they called Samsung and Samsung said that a 7970M version would be launched in the US. Of course no offence to Samsung but the people that pick up the phone over there do not exactly know/understand Samsungs roll out strategy.
-
I dont know why Alienware gets 1st dibs on this.
These are the options that I know of so far that sells 7970M in US (All release in late May except for Alienware)
-Alienware
-Samsung's Gamer notebook
-Sager and MSi from powernotebooks.com
Any others I should know about?
I'm trying to avoid sales tax (live in CA) lol -
I was tempted to get it from Alienware... but sales tax kill the deal. Plus there's no active coupon that works right now... If anyone has a coupon, I'll gladly take it lol

Ohh... So maybe Samsung will have the 7970 available by the mid/end of may,...
Lord, selling my MacBook Pro this week, I can't go 2/3 weeks without COD and Battlefield :0
Newegg listed a US version but with 1.5Tb HDD? Thought it was for the Canada version?
Mhh

I too live in CA so I feel your pain on the tax. I saw that the Sager has an option to order with the HD7970M BUT I didn’t see that MSI has the HD7970M option. Where did you see that? If that were the case, I would jump on that.
AMD did out do Nvidia this time around. Nvidia tried to be strategic with rebranding etc and maximize their sales by waiting for the GTX680M to be released but it may have back fired on them this time.
I so want to wait to see if the Samsung US version is coming out with the 7970M but my Dell I am on now is seriously on its last leg. Day by day more and more problems occur. The good thing is, although I have on order the Samsung GTX675M version, I have 30 days to return it with no restocking fee. If within 30days the Samsung Series 7 Gamer comes out in the US with the HD7970M, I may return the one I bought and buy the 7970M version. Good thing is, no restocking fee. I just want to buy a notebook and be done with it for 3-4 years as every other notebook has lasted me. I just want to make sure I get a fast processor and GPU so it can overcome almost any game as the years go by.
I was on the brink of purchasing an MSI but I really like the look and feel of the Samsung (more business looking than gaming BUT it has the power to game when I want to).
-
My mistake, sorry guys I was wrong about MSi. =/
-
mcmike, Samsung with 7970 will be more expensive than the one with 675M, right?
-
-
Kammander - Well so far on Xotic PC and various other sites the HD7970M is a $100 upgrade over the GTX675M so I would suspect that the price would be slightly higher. I am not too concerned with price as I was about to drop almost $3,400 on a custom MSI just before the whole IVY bridge release date debacle. For the general mass though, as cfisher2 put it, Samsung would be smart to position themselves at $1,500 - $1,800. Since this is their first true gaming laptop, they would definitely jump in with the big boys right off the bat. I think we will start to see how this unfolds in the next 20-30 days at most. Sucks to wait, but that’s how it is in the electronics world.
-
So do you guys think that we can get the Samsung, with the 7970 for about $1900?

NP700G7C Series 7 Notebook - SAMSUNG
Here is the US link to features page for Samsung which has the 7970HD option (3D)
NP700G7C-S01CA - FEATURES | SAMSUNG -
I have been reading so much I think your right. I was so frustrated about Europe having a 3d model, I wrote of any research in Europe all together
We will see how this unfolds soon. -
That's Canada -
Oops, you are correct, the CA should have been a dead giveaway
There is nothing listed on the US site for the NP700G7C-S01US.
-
Something is odd...
The US version is known to have 2Tb HDD ( 2 x 1Tb 5400 )
Newegg listed a US version with 1.5Tb ( 2x 750Gb 7200RPM + 8Gb SSD ): Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Athena NP700G7C-S01US Notebook Intel Core i7 3610QM(2.30GHz) 17.3" 16GB Memory DDR3 1600 1.5TB HDD 7200rpm Blu-ray Player NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M -

May sound silly but I'm interested in the 3d part of it. Does anyone know if the glasses are included or at a extra fee?
-
1 Pair of 3D glasses is included with the 3D version. This I know for sure.
-
Thanks mcmikel. The only thing else I'm wondering which I hope it has is sata 3 6gb/s support. I bet it doesn't though
-
-
i want a release date so bad
-
Seems like this board is one of the best way to keep up with it too. -
Ahhh !
Budget is $1850 ...
:0 ! With next paycheck around $2100...
Hope I can get it with the 7970 -
Rayt -
Rayt. Where did you get the laptop from? Will it have the 675 or 7970?
-
The answer to your question is both. On samsung's international sites (basically any besides the US, I've seen it on their Canadian and British sites) they stated that their 2d model will have the 675m and their 3d model will have the 7970m. I have spoken to a samsung worker online and he said that both models will be available for purchase (this was yesterday btw) in the US, and the 2d model is already available for purchase. As far as release dates, he didn't know but expect both to be released in the next few weeks. Pricing has not been released to the employees yet, but using common sense I have deduced that the 3d model will be slightly more expensive than the 2d, just because if they were both the same price, who in their right minds would get the 2d model. So, if you want the 7970m, which I'm sure most people do, as it will most likely be equivalent to the 680m and is already superior to the 675m at a lesser cost, don't jump the gun and purchase the 675m version. I hope this helps.
-
I'm hoping bestbuy will stock the Series 7 gamer 7970m gpu cause I really like the no interest for 18 months deal
-
After doing tons and tons of research about 7970M incoming laptops, i know that thisone will definately be my first choice.
Its a beauty!
My only wish was that it was 15.6" and not 17.3"
Edit:
One more note. Hopefully the 7970 version comes with HM77 Motherboard, for raid and smart responce support. Current GTX675m versions have HM76.
