Glad you mentioned that. Sound is outstanding. The mini-subwoofer adds a little kick to whatever your listening to. It can get very loud, but it never distorts.

Whats keeping Samsung so long from releasing the 3D version with 7970? Dont they release 2D and 3D at once? My expected release date is in a month, what do you guys think? Any leaked info?

Availability of HD7970M is limited, and somehow alienware "stole" the first shipments, so clevo, samsung etc is next in line, which means late may/early june.

How do you know Dell is getting the first batch of cards? According to Dell/Alienwares site, it says the following for the HD7970M: Preliminary Ship Date: 6/1/2012. The sales rep from Dell also confirmed this date when I talked to them. I have not been to the Alienware site in a long time. Well organized but man Alienware is ugly.

Not being funny but if you got the NP700G7C model...you aint getting 3 and 1/2 hrs on battery in any mode unless its in idle which is also in doubt. Maybe 3 x 1/2 hrs if your lucky.

I spoke to a rep around April 29th ish to build a laptop with 7970M. At that time, they said they have it in stock and the preliminary ship date was around... May 15th.

2 Days later I spoke to them again and they said they dont have it in stock and the late was moved to May 25th.

I dont know, maybe they are BSing? Maybe hey had it and went OOS? But I dont give a damn, I dislike dell and AW. Ugly, expensive, and they would sell you 1 screw less to make more money off you.

Really? While the plug type is a problem always, in terms of volume the actual unit is on a par with the Air, if not more compact.

Why would you get a 17 inch laptop that is advertised to be ~8.5 pounds and be surprised at its weight and limited mobility?

Why did your "friend" order it from tigerdirect instead of you?

Your post strikes me as odd.

Oh well, if the computer is not for you, such is life. Too bad, its a beauty!

I couldn't ask for a better laptop. Really. The entire laptop is cool to the touch except the exhaust vents in the back. Which is fine because that is where the heat should go. The fans do an outstanding job of keeping the laptop cool. AWESOME

Well, it really is a big damn power brick. One could always buy two power bricks, leave one at their place of work, one at home, and rely on a battery here and there in between. Of course, if you work out of the office/home more than in, then that would not be practical. On the other hand, one could rely on a tablet/iPad on the go.

I want to give Michellelame the benefit of the doubt, but something seems amiss here.

Getting a brand new $1900 computer for $1500, when computer was bought by someone else....well, as long as you can verify the comp before releasing money, and as long as you do not mind potentially receiving stolen goods...

Well, also consider this. He said he bought the other Series 7 instead, the one with the GT650. That card only comes on a 17inch laptop. The 15.6 inch series 7 has the AMD 6750. Sure, the 17inch with GT650 is 2 pounds lighter, but it takes up nearly the same space. Its hard for me to fathom a man truly caring about an extra 2 pounds and throwing away a few hundred dollars value, especially when that person says they have an iPad3. Lots of red flags. Even if he is on the up an up, there is no way I'd trust a too good to be true offer with these flags.

Yeah thanks MZ, with the economy being so crap these days there are more scammers. I think I will play it safe and pay the full price =*( Thanks for the input MZ, saved my life lol.

I'm not calling him a scammer, I think I will just play it safe. Unless ebay/paypal comes into play.

Heatware is a feedback system that shows your transaction record, no matter which forum you go to. It's similar to an ebay feedback score. He seems legit, as I know some of the people he's had transactions with on XS based on the heatware record. I would still use caution though. Makes no sense to have that many heatware feedback and not accept paypal. I don't imagine every online transaction he's done was by money order.

michellelane71, I would add your notebookreview account on your heatware profile to prove you're the owner of it. I could have also named myself a michellelane71 on another forum and linked to that same heatware profile. Here's my profile, and you can see I linked myself to forums that I go to:

    WhiteFireDragon | HeatWare.com

PS- I would keep the buying/selling discussion in the sale section. It's semi off-topic discussion in the main thread.

I have bought my notebooks from US over the last years, and we use the Euro type. There are many shops here in Norway that sell the complete cable with the right plug. Its easy to find one that sell one with the mickey mouse female plug on the other end.

Linkent lives in Singapore, so if he buys the mickey mouse head UK plug from EG accessories it will work nicely. Alternatively, use an adapter.

Or you just get a new power cable. The socket on the PSU will be standard. Most likely the C5 connector. You might already have a spare cable.

I'll be interested if you can pick 120HZ because the only way this shows on Nvidia control panel as an option on the change resolution is if your screen supports it :)
