There is no setting for it in the old control panel, but when you click with two fingers it does the same thing as you have set the right button to.

How do these drivers react when you do a two finger click?

I know I should just install then and check out for myself, and I will tomorrow if nothing else, but I cant right now. :(

I turned off two-finger tap to test: two-finger click does context menu. cool. Confirmed it continues to work with 1-finger tap disabled also.

Does anyone know how the 6750m compares to the 7690m in the HP Envy 15?

It's a re-brand apparently. It however could be a tiny bit better on some things.

I've been getting extremely low internet connection speeds so I replaced the Broadcom wireless card with the Intel 6230 that has been recommended here.

I haven't noticed any significant change in speed or signal quality at all with the Intel card over the original Broadcom card.

Today I had access to a router and ethernet cable so I plugged it in and ran a speed test comparison between ethernet and wireless. These are the results...

    Ethernet:

    Wireless:

The upload speeds are almost identical but the download speed on wireless is severely impaired. I have no idea what would cause this. I know that it's not the router because my old Sony Vaio tests just fine on wireless. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I have the original broadcom wifi in still, and it works fine for me. These are the results from my homeline infront of the TV in my livingroom.

    Using a Netgear router btw:
    wndr3700

Had this one for half a year or so now, very happy with it, other than it doesn't have full Gigabit thruput, but I guess I can settle for 600ish for now. :)

    Hey guys sorry for being a noob and asking but I've browsed through so many pages of feedback and I can't take it all in anymore, I need some direct answers;

Are the cons of the laptop great enough to make the 1150 price point for the NP700Z5A-S04US not worth it?

I was considering the Acer TimelineX for a while until I found it had terrible battery degradation and cpu throttling, so that turned me off greatly. Then I found the S7 which was perfect in specifications and battery life and lo and behold, I found that OpenGL and Wifi issues plague this laptop.

Not being able to play Minecraft isn't that big of an issue, the wifi connection is though. From what I've read around this forum, it makes the Broadcom chip sound as if it had a 15 foot range and anything past that was just garbage, add walls to the equation and it just sounded horrid.

So from you guys who own the laptop, do you think it's really worth it? This purchase will be what I'm taking to college to live on campus with, so I really need good wifi reception, thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I just swapped out my single antennae broadcom chip for the intel 6230 double antennae and I am now a happy camper

    *EDIT*
I stand corrected. I think I read somewhere on the broadcom of a single dualband antenna. Their website is difficult to navigate/search.

Although..on my old HP dv6500CTO notebook it had 3 antenna for a very large wifi range, which I am starting to miss.

Why is yours SINGLE antenna? I believe the Samsung's Broadcom shipped with 2x2 MIMO.

I don't have any performance problem with the original Broadcom WiFi card.
I still get 2-3MB/s even in my room (20 meters, 2 plaster walls and 1 stair away from my router).
It seems pretty OK to me.

    Just did wireless test again:

From livingroom that has the router in it:

From bedroom with 2 concrete walls between notebook and router and 10m away or so:

So doesn't seem to be a very bad drop to me. Sure less than 50% of the bandwith still there, but still very far from gimped beyond usability for sure.

EDIT: Btw, first result is when plugged in and second result is when on battery, but I don't think it should affect the score.

I agree that this is slightly on the warm side for the idle but (i) what is the temperature like on the outside of the computer; and (ii) how much does the temperature increase when the computer is under load (keeping below 90C will be fine).

You may want to check the CPU utilisation. It should be around 1% when the computer is on idle. The Processes tab in Task Manager will show what is using the CPU.

Who has already had this version?
Who knows if display will be the same TF matrix as S03-04?
Any chance to have it built with IPS technology?
Been chosing laptop for 2 months. Was quite close to take Sony S 15'6 but changed mind because of shaky lightweight display and overall bezel quality. Then saw S04 in MS: changed all Easy Settings but no result. It was Sony S near S7 standing and I can feel the whole gap between them concedering picture difference....

    Thanks.

Just thought I'd pass this on. I am a potential Chronos buyer and a demanding user, so I always do research before I invest in hardware.

After following this thread and the other threads on the Chronos GPU issues I felt I need some more information on the situation.

I there for sent a email to Samsung Support in Sweden/Scandinavia a week ago or something, and told them that the result of my research on the Chronos was that apparently there was a big issue with the GPU-switching and openGL support. I then asked if they were aware about this and if the were working on a solution.

A few hours ago I got a response from the support telling me that with the latest drivers everything should now work fine. Sadly he didn't say what version of drivers he was talking about or when they would have been released.

You can't reply to their response-mails for some stupid reason but I sent a new question through the form on their website where i refered to that answer and ansked if the drivers where released, if not when they would be, what the name of the drivers where and where I could find them.

I'll get back to you as soon as I get a answer. Hope this is true 'cause then I can finally get a new laptop!

The only answer I got back was that the latest drivers could be find on samsung.se under support for your product. And the latest drivers for chipset and VGA(AMD) are from 2011-09-02. And I guess you guys already have those..

I think you might be right in this case :) But HP's customer service is worse though. I was considering the Envy 15" late 2011 instead of the chronos due to the GPU issue, 'cause the envy dosent seem to have the same problem. But trying to get in touch with hp, email or phone dosent matter, is a ing maze. But at last I found out that the envy 15 is not going to be launched in sweden this month and no one knows when or if its ever gonna be released here....

For HP, your PS must report the issue to one of the labs (Taiwan or Houston). Otherwise the issue cannot be resolved.

The problem I have/had with HP is that on their swedish website if you click on contact HP with questions before buying you end up at email for product support instead. And the whole website is poorly maped, same for the american version. The second problem is noone seamed to have the information I wanted. Took me some hours of investigation before I could find my answers.

It seams that customer support and having employes with knowledge about the products and a will to help product-owners is something that is of really low priority to most of the big manufacturers.

It's my strong belief that Samsung has to be aware of the GPU issue, but either they dont care or they dont know how to fix it. Either way it makes me both angry and sad that a big company would behave this way.

Besides fron the Chronos and the new Envy 15" what other 15.6" laptops are there with backlit keyboards, high res screens, low weight and gaming-capable GPU in this same price-range?

There really is not really anything that balance. Unless you're willing to wait a couple more months for Ivy Bridge. The new Envy is not same price range if i'm correct. It's like 200-300 more? or something, but it depends if you get a coupon that brings it about same price. Unless in sweden it's same price.

It depends when it is going to be released. There is always a chance since Ivy Bridge is coming out soon. But if it's already a demo created then it properly a Sandy Bridge.
Since Intel was faking ivy bridge demo, I doubt it has ivy bridge. This laptop could be a concept or it will be using Sandy Bridge if it's coming out in 2-3 months.

The Sony SE 15" model compares well. It's an i5, but has a 1080p screen and is over half a pound lighter. It also has a bluray option.
