Blue screen errors. Can anybody tell me what's wrong?
Minidump: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15024401/012912-20623-01.dmp
Thanks -
I updated the driver and the connection has been totally stable since then. Thanks for the tip!
-
anyone know where to get the latest intel hd graphic driver?
-
It's bundled with AMD drivers.
didn't read the minidump, but check this out http://forum.notebookreview.com/sam...deo-scaling-video-crashing-3.html#post8272641 -
I get the artifacts when the video runs out of buffer but no crash. If I rewind the video a little bit it will play through again up to the buffered point and then when it runs out of buffer I get artifacts again. I tested on Chrome and only watched about a minute in. It loaded excruciatingly slow for me.

whenever i tick the box in the elan mouse settings to disable touchpad when external mouse is inserted, it disables my touchpad permanently.
anyone else have this problem? -
Go check out if the "Disable my touchpad when a USB mouse is plugged" checkmark is enable in the tab Elan (in your mouse setting). If it is, then disable it!
-
I want the touchpad disabled when I have my external mouse plugged in. So, I ticked the box in the Elan tab of the Mouse settings that says "Disable when external USB pointing device plug in." I assumed by doing this the touchpad would be disabled when my mouse is plugged in, and working when no mouse to attacked via usb.
But by ticking this box, the touchpad is disabled even when I unplug my mouse. -
I am using this setting and it works fine for me. Try another port and/or another mouse, just to see if the problem is related to any of that. I have had issues with USB2.0 compatible mice in the USB3.0 ports.
-
I also had this problem, where it disabled the touchpad all together.
-
Grr. As the previous poster said, it disables my mousepad all together. Did you update the driver for the mouse?
-
It disables the mousepad and will not reenable it after I unplug the mouse. Try using the function keys instead.
-
Yes, I did update my drivers for the trackpad, but it worked fine before that aswell.
Did you try using a different USB port (especially a USB2.0 one instead) and/or a different mouse? -
Yeah, switched everything up and it still didn't work. Didn't try a different mouse though...
Which mouse are you using Luterin? I'm using Deathadder Black. -
I'm currently using a Logitech MX518 and it works fine wherever I plug it in, but I have a small one called Plexgear and it only works in the USB2.0 slots, not the 3.0 slots...
-
I also have problems with trackpad. Sometimes clicking is not working, restart helps. And there is a problem with iPhone connected to USB3.0 port, system crashes sometimes when I'm connecting it.
-
The latest Catalyst drivers (12.1) pumped down via auto-update seem to solve all the youtube problems. No more hanging with hardware acceleration enabled, no more pixelated videos. Finally!
-
What new drivers? I dont find any on Samsungs homepage or Easy Software Manager...
-
Windows Update
-
Not getting anything new via Windows update either, and isn't it a bit weird for the graphics drivers for the S7 to update via Windows Update since they are "special"?
-
I got 'em via the AMD auto-update feature. Seems to be the same one i get on my desktop with my 5870. Maybe it's cause I was using the hacked Catalyst 11.11 UnifL drivers previously. But anyway, my integrated graphics still work with the new official AMD 12.1 drivers so i guess it's legit?

i currently own a Tosh Satellite X205...and i cannot wait to upgrade to something like the Series 7. Anything is better than this giant plasitic over priced piece of crap i paid way to much for in 2007. I'm debating whether to wait until the new Series 9 comes out because portability is really important to me. My X205 wieghs close to 10 pounds...its ridiculous and embarassing lol. However, the more i look at the Series 7 the more i want it. It weighs in at a reasonable 5lbs and the Best Buy version i'm looking at costs $999.99. You get so much for that price! i7, 1TB of storage, 8GB of memory, backlit keyboard, sexy looks, and the list continues. It's hard for me to justify paying $1500 for the 2nd Gen series 9....the specs just don't compare. Your paying more for lighter weight and thats about it. Damn you Samsung...why do you have to make my decision so dificult
-
Has anyone tried swapping out the LCD panel in a series 7 laptop yet? I'm pretty pleased overall with the performance, but the stock screen is a piece of crap.
I imagine it certainly wouldn't be as simple as more mainstream lappies due to form factor, and my google-fu hasn't turned up any examples. Any thoughts? -
Hey everyone, been away from the thread for a while so I apologize if this has been posted but:
I am in Vancouver, Canada and I just got a glimpse of a series 7 in future shop. The good news abounds, as it is both backlit, and has expresscache! i7, 2670 (maybe 2675) sorry it has been a while since I was ultra focused on the specs
1GB video memory, 8 gigs ram, 1 TB hdd. Price was 1299. I tried to buy one, but all they had was their demo, and two others which they had sold that morning. I then called every future shop in the area, no one had a demo, no one had any stock, so it was just the downtown one where the most traffic is I guess. The closest store that still had them was in the next province over.
I think you might be able to order online now though, I am about to check. Hope that was of any help to at least 1 person! -
That's the Chronos 700Z5A-S03CA, same as the 700Z5A-S03US. They don't make it anymore, it hasn't been sent to retailers since mid december of last year. We're all waiting for the next release rumored to be sometime in February
-
Have been away from this thread too but I've seen the "new" Series 7 at my local Best Buy at least a week ago.
I noticed it was different because it had the lighted keyboard and said "ExpressCache" in the specs:
Samsung - 15.6" Series 7 Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Silver - NP700Z5B-S01UB
I think it's a little expensive at $999, considering you can get 1080p notebooks for around the same price but at least it's not the neutered S7. -
No, he's right - this is the S04CA
Samsung 15.6" Intel Core i7-2675QM Laptop (NP700Z5A-S04CA) - Silver : 15" Laptops - Future Shop
It's got the 1TB HDD and the back-lit keyboard, whereas the S03CA I got at Canada Computers had the 750GB drive and no keyboard back light. It did cost $200 less, though. -
It's not the same, because it has Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Pro. Also, the graphics card is the 512MB 6490M instead of the 1GB 6750M found in the S03US, and the hard drive is 1 TB (likely 5400rpm) instead of 750 GB (but, it does have ExpressCache this time).
I'd still prefer the S09, if it's ever released. -
I stand corrected, yes that's the 04
-
A minor correction (major, if you're a gamer) here - the S03CA has the same Radeon 1GB 6750M found in the S03US.
NP700Z5A-S03CA - OVERVIEW | SAMSUNG -
Update:
Just ordered the last S04CA on the futureshop website, looking forward to getting to say the least. Came to 1460. Does anyone know how much it will cost, the US version? I still have time to return it once I get it if the US websites will be a lot cheaper. Thanks! -
The S03US just came back in stock in the States, it has a 750GB drive instead of 1T but you get Win7 Pro which is better. It's $1200 shipped, no tax

Hey thanks very much, I will check that out, that might be the better option for me. Thanks!

The Microsoft Store is showing "Special President's Day pricing" on the:
NP700Z3A-S01US (14") Samsung Series 7 NP700Z3A-S01US - Microsoft Store Online
and
NP700Z5A-S02US (15.6") Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5A-S02US - Microsoft Store Online
Would be sweeter if it was the S03US or S09US, but that's probably what they're making room for... -
That's an alright deal, they have the S02 for $1000. I would just need to updgrade to 7 pro (~+$80) and swap out the 2GB for a 4GB chip (~$40), so it would end up being $1120 instead of the $1200 newegg is charging for the S03
-
Bestbuy has one on their business website as well. I'm seriously considering buying this.
Samsung Series 7 700Z5AH - 15.6" - Core i7 2675QM - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - 8 GB RAM - 750 GB HDD - NP700Z5A-S03US - Best Buy For Business
I saw the stock version in the store, the touchpad did NOT impress. Oh well if that's my only complaint. -
Are the only differences between the S02US and S03US 6GB vs 8GB RAM and Win7 HP vs Win7 Pro? Does the S02US have a backlit keyboard?
-
Hey, I got a PM via email about where I saw the series 7 I bought, but when I load my actual PM page here it doesn't load so:
The downtown Future Shop currently has the only demo model in the lower mainland, at Robson and Granville. They think they may get more stock by the end of the month but aren't sure. Hope that helps anyone in Vancouver. -
CompUSA.com | NP700Z5A-S0AUS | Samsung 15.6 Core i7 1TB HDD Laptop
Samsung NP700Z5A-S03US Series 7 Chronos 15.6" Notebook PC - Silver Aluminum in PC Notebook Computers | JR.com
These are both available. Can anyone tell me which would be a better purchase, as the one from CompUSA has a 1G drive and the one from JR has a 750 drive, but has Windows 7 Pro?
Is there any other difference in the two models? I would like to order one, but don't know which one to get. -
They look identical apart from the differences you already noted. What is unclear is hard disk speed. The JR one clearly states "750GB 7200RPM". I bet the 1TB drive in the CompUSA model is 5400RPM, so the JR machine looks like a better deal if speed is important to you, even if you don't need Windows Pro.
-
I could never go without pro because the home version doesn't allow you to log in remotely

Has anyone purchased the NP700Z5A from Tiger Direct? How was your purchase experience? Any hiccups, defects, whatnot?
Samsung NP700Z5A-S0AUS Series 7 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i7-2675QM 2.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, AMD Radeon HD 6750M, 15.6 Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Silver at TigerDirect.com
I'm about to pull the trigger on this one but I have never ordered from Tiger Direct before. I just want to have some peace of mind that ordering from them will be a hasslefree experience... -
I brought NP700Z5A-S03US from TigerDirect plus addition 3 year warranty. So far so good
Btw TigerDirect is CircuitCity.com, CompUSA. -
Thanks for this. Now, my choice will either be to purchase from Tiger Direct for the W7 Home Premium 1TB version or from JR for the W7 Pro 750gb version... For some reason, I seem more comfortable ordering from JR than from Tiger Direct, based on some neg feedback I've been reading about Tiger Direct (albeit they're few, they still seem like valid feedback nonetheless)...
Hope to hear more from you guys on these two online stores! -
Guys, just wondering if anyone knows of a working promo/discount coupon code for J&R? I just missed the President's Day promo they had a few days back ($15 off). It wasn't much but since I was ready to order anyway, it kinda bums me out that I missed out on it.
-
I always check the coupons on retailmenot (I don't see anything right now that's too useful):

Also, if you use ebates you'll get 2.5% cashback by going through their j&r link first. If you want to sign up with my referral code, you'll get a $10 gift card after you make your purchase:

Hey everyone, I am the Canadian who ordered the S04CA recently online. Got it today and went through setting it up. So far I like the keyboard a lot, though I hate the bilingual Canadian keyboard layout and may have to return it and buy a US one for that reason alone. Anyway, one thing I am noticing is that the trackpad has its issues like people have said. If you go along in a straight line you do get that jagged path that someone showed in paint early on. Also, my right clicks seem to be very inconsistent as well as two finger scrolling, and just plain old taps, rather than clicking. I will be checking to see if anyone has addressed the touchpad issues after this. Also, anyone worried about the screen, again all I can think is they must have super fancy displays, because it looks very nice to me.
Anything I missed, or anything anyone wants to know I would be happy to answer questions. -
I have the S04US model, and after installing the latest trackpad driver, things improved for me a bit. I'm not sure if the Canadian model has the same drivers as the US one but I found my drivers here: Support - Notebooks NP700Z5AH | Samsung Laptops
My thoughts about the laptop:
I really like the inertial scrolling that the new trackpad update provides. It works best in Internet Explorer 9, and really provides a MacBook-esque scrolling experience. However, it isn't nearly as smooth in Chrome, which doesn't have support for the Smooth Scrolling feature that IE9 has.
A lot of things about this laptop are optimized for IE9 (unfortunately, since it would be nice if other browsers got some love). In Chrome, there are some problems running Flash videos while the laptop is disconnected from the AC cord (for me, the AMD driver fails and crashes my computer), while IE runs fine. Also, Youtube videos looks pixelated fullscreen in Chrome while IE9 videos look fine. Of course, there are work-arounds for these issues, but it would be nice if everything worked fine out of the box.
Bottom line: You can't find better value in a laptop. Quadcore processor + decent graphics card + its form factor + weight. I like it a lot and am willing to put up with the quirks of the laptop. -
Okay guys don't hate me,
I just got this laptop.. I try to search the bottom of this thread, but it keeps telling me nothing found!!
Is the Bluetooth always supposed to be on? I turn it off and restart my pc and it starts up again!!!
