Thank you for this update.
I recall that I had disabled this option (and many more) during my initial configuration.
Perhaps this is a suitable place to remind people to go to Windows Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Advanced oettings > choose how updates are delivered and (unless you are happy to have Microsoft using your upload bandwidth) make sure that the delivery is set to PCs on my local network.

Welcome.
Can someone help me how to update drivers after upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10?
I can not watch some videos on websites, youtube works fine but some other sites are not and they were working before the upgrade.
So I assume I have to update the graphic driver.
I am a newbie so any help is welcome.
Here are my settings:

Read through the whole discussion and then ask again if you haven't found the solution. If you have then AMD APU then I presume that you have the NP905 or NP915. Samsung's SW Update lists Windows 10 drivers / software for the NP905.
John -
Welcome sir.
Like I said I am a complete newbie and I really glad that I managed to upgrade to the new Windows without any issues. Some videos are not working on some websites and I noticed that my notebook works loud, it was working really quietly before the upgrade on Windows 7. I am only surfing the Internet, I do not know if my notebook is not good enough for Windows 10.
It is Samsung NP305E5A A6-3420M
I checked samsung site and if I am not wrong the do not support my netbook on this new Windows.Last edited: Aug 8, 2015 -
The first thing to solve is the loud part of the system. Loud and hot means something is overly using the CPU. This too could cause some video issues.

The extra fan noise may be the result of temporarily increased CPU usage due to housekeeping tasks such as indexing. Or it might be a process that is stuck in a loop. You can use Task Manager to find out what is using the CPU.
You are correct that your notebook does not currently have Windows 10 drivers and it is doubtful that it will be officially support because it was not supported for windows 8.1.
It is possible that your video playing problems are caused by Windows 10 default security settings. Have you tried more than one web browser?
If you want to look for another graphics driver then the best option is to look for some similar hardware which is supported. Use the Find Model function in Samsung Update to browse the database. I suggest you try using the graphics driver for the NP905S3G because that notebook also uses an AMD APU (A6-1450). Also, one of the Windows 10 + AMD users mentioned that their problems disappeared once they had installed the AMD Catalyst Control Center so that could be another option to try.
John -
I restarted the Windows and videos are now working on chrome. They were working on firefox but not on chrome.
Here is the screenshot from task manager:
Like I said it really working loud and the notebook is warm. It was not an issue before, it was working very quietly before the upgrade.
So do you suggest to install graphics driver from NP905S3G or something more?
You said something about amd catalyst contron center, can you please give me the link for my samsung model?
I will probably come back to Windows 7 if I will not find the sollution.
Also there is no easy settings for Windows 10?
It is a really useful software.
Thanks for the help.Last edited: Aug 8, 2015 -
I downloaded the graphics driver from NP905S3G and installed it but during the installing there was some error saying something like" Catalyst Control Center: Host application stopped working."
I just reminded that just after the upgrade I got the notice that this software/program could not work properly and if I am not wrong it was that catalyst icon.
Now I tried to open this program amd catalyst, it opens but after some time there is the error saying something like during the installation:
"Catalyst Control Center: Host application stopped working."
I do not know, maybe I am wrong but it may be the cause.

The Chrome video problem is similar to this (which wasn't resolved) and the internet has reports of other similar problems.
The 4% CPU usage is very reasonable and I wonder if the graphics driver / Catalyst Control Center installation problem is resulting in poor GPU performance with it running faster than necessary. AMD say that the A6 is/ will be supported. See here for the drivers. However, Samsung notebooks usually need a Samsung customised driver to interact with the Fn keys for the brightness control.
Easy Settings has been superseded for Windows 8 onwards with Samsung's Settings (not to be confused with Windows 10's Settings!). Try the Windows 10 version of Settings for the NP905S3G. The installation also includes some background configuration such as the Samsung power plans and might fix your fan noise problem.

I really appreciate your help. The first do you suggest me to stay with Windows 10 on my samsung NP305E5A A6-3420M or should I come back to Windows 7?
Everything seems to be working fine, but the netbook is really warm so I am a bit worried because I have never had any issues with Windows 7.
Can you please tell me which driver I should install? I clicked your link but I do not know what I should choose.

Hey Guys
I was wondering what kind of power consumption you guys are getting and how your battery life is with Windows 10 compared to Windows 8 I have the NP880Z5E-AU model, I'm averaging about 16 W to 25 W on Battery with the Samsung optimized power options (10% brightness) and its really killing my total battery life I'm down roughly 2 hours from normal use (From average of 6-7 hours on windows 8 to 4.5 hours on windows 10) .
Where as before I was getting 12 W and lower on windows 8 I'm not sure what is causing it, I've done a fresh install of Windows 10 and I'm certain that the switchable graphics is working as intended. Everything else in windows 10 for me is running well including all the function keys and touch pad, I have tried both AMD drivers the ones from Samsung update and the official latest AMD drivers but both give me same results.
If anyone has any ideas on settings, windows 10 hacks, driver related solutions or just any results of their own battery testing that would be awesome
Thanks -

UPDATE:
I just noticed on the task manager that the processor usage is very unstable. It shows 14% and then after some time goes up to 80% for a few seconds (the laptop gets warmer) and after some time it returns to 20% or bellow level and then again it repaits. All the time I am only using the browser and never got this problem before on Windows 7.Last edited: Aug 8, 2015 -

I am sure that all the versions of the NP905S3G use the same Settings so install whichever you find first.
Regarding the CPU usage, go to the Details tab in Task Manager, click on a column heading and select Select columns. Then select CPU time. This will show the cumulative CPU time used by each process and will help identify whatever is causing the pulses of CPU activity.
It would be useful to find out if the GPU is behaving correctly. HWiNFO or GPU-z might show something.
If, in a day or two (to allow plenty of time for Windows 10 to sort itself out), you are still finding higher temperatures with Windows 10 than you had with Windows 7 then a roll-back to Windows 7 is probably the best route. Maybe in a month or two the driver support for your hardware will have improved and you can try again. If you are worried about Microsoft's free offer expiring then you can find and keep a copy of the Windows 10 key although I have read that Microsoft is storing the hardware signature of each notebook on which Windows 10 is being installed and a future installation will automatically activate.

Also I downloaded the Settings Samsung for NP905S3G but there are only a few settings like: network, display, audio. On the Windows 7 there are many more options, like you said:" some background configuration such as the Samsung power plans and might fix your fan noise problem."
I can not find these options there.

However, I'm wondering if your underlying problem is that the CPU or GPU is running at full speed instead of adjusting according to its workload. Run HWiNFO and see if the CPU speed is varying. Task Manager only shows the load and not the speed. Did you install a chipset driver?
John -
Anyone got any solutions for this?

I tried updating NP700Z5C by downloading Windows10 Media Creation tool and perform a PC upgrade but it keep saying updating 0% and stay there all day so I restarted it.
Now I am downloading the Windows Home ISO file but I noticed there was a Windows Home (N) and does that mean anything? Also will I be able to upgrade from ISO or I need a key to do the upgrade?
Thank you
Bill -
if you create the DVD from ISO it should use the original Windows key so long as you do an in place upgrade.

It went smoothly but it take awhile to wake from sleep.
Last time I had that issue where it took some time to awake from sleep until I went from cloud to local account then it would be quick. I am still on local account in Windows 10 but still feel like when I was on cloud account. I wonder if it being sync to something causing it to slow down again?

I have the Samsung Series 7 Chronos (NP700z5C) which came with Windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1
I would like to install to Windows 10 but in the SW Update (Now called Samsung Update), when I look up my model, I only get the software/drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
Would it be better to wait to do the upgrade to W10 until they update the drivers for W 10, or can I upgrade it and use the drivers from Windows 8.1? I ran the Windows 10 utility and it says there is no conflicts or compatibility issues. -
For those on a Samsung with W10 and updating bios. You should check the link below. Once you change the bios you are changing hardware and probably breaking W10.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-10-hardware-changes-idiocy.780110/ -
Why doesnt the SWUpdate app work the same way as on Windows 8.1 anymore on Windows 10? Before, it used to have a nice interface that would tell you what optional and essential updates you needed, but now you need to install all of the drivers directly to your pc and then run them manually, why is that? Is there a way to get it to work the same as before?

Is there a way to disable the express cache to test?

So long as 8.1 drivers are there you are good to go.

Probability is the proper drivers, for th most part, will be there. You may still need Samsung Update for things such as the FN keys and possibly express cache etc..

I did a clean install of Windows 10 on my 2012 Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3B-A02) and am trying to install Samsung Settings. However, everytime I try to install it, I get a "This app has been blocked for your protection" error.
There is only one account on my computer and my account is the administrator account. I tried turning off SmartScreen settings, and setting the User Account Control to the lowest setting. However, i continue to get this error, which is frustrating, as I cannot get the FN keys (such as the keyboard backlighting) to work. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. -

1. Which version of Settings are you trying to install?
2. Did you also try right-clicking on the installation file and selecting the ... As Administrator option.
John -
Hi John - it was version 2.something (I'm not in front of my computer right now). I also did try right-clicking on the installation file and selecting the "Run as Administrator" option but continued to get the same error message.
I did find this website last night. Although it included a few extra steps, it did solve the issue, as the settings program does work under my regular log-in. However, if I try to run the settings program as an administrator under my regular log-in, I continue to get the error message. Bizarre. -

Hello everybody.
I have a model NP550P5C and everything works fine after I moved from W7 to W10, except one thing.
In the previous version of Easy Settings I have set up the battery charge limit at 80%, but now there is not such
option in Samsung Settings and I can't change the battery charge back to 100%.
Any solution for this? Tnx. -

Hi everyone, I haven't been on NBR for a long long time so had to create account.
I recently upgrade my Samsung NP-Q460-JS01CA(from 2011) from Windows7 to Windows10. I had a new HDD so I did a clean install of Win7 and went straight to Win10 without doing any upgrades or anything.
Most of the things seemed to work find except I don't have use of the Fn keys. Thru reading the other threads in this forum that I need the Settings program from Samsung. The problem is my laptop is no longer supported, it never got Windows8 drivers and I can't find it in the list in the Samsung Update program. I tried just getting the settings from a random model and trying it.
First got 2.0.0.106 which didn't even load after installing. Then I go 2.2.0.21which loads but only gives me access to Wireless, Display, Sound. And nothing else.
The volume gnite keys seem to work but I can't turn the screen off.
I went thru device manager to manually update a couple of drivers that were listed from 2006, update even thought I had a Lenovo keyboard! I still have a bunch of 2006 drivers but I haven't trod any drivers from the Samsung website as those are all win7.
What to do now? -
for settings the best 8.1 I could find was 2.0.0.72 for the NP700G7c, you could try that as well.

If that doesn't work try Settings 2.0.0.31 offered by Samsung SW Update for the QX412 under United Kingdom> Others >Windows 8.
John -
I tried the .31 here with no success, YMMV though.

Here's my experience of upgrading my Samsung Series 7 Chronos 2011 Sandy Bridge model NP700Z5B-W01UB from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade resulted in a faster, more stable Windows with a stronger ability to multitask, and all of my important apps transferred without issue so I am definitely keeping Windows 10. However, after upgrading, I discovered that I still needed drivers for the realtek wired ethernet, intel 6150 wifi, usb 3 ports, power settings, realtek sound, and function keys. To download drivers, I had to temporarily plug in a USB internet adapter to the USB 2 port because both of the built in internet connections did not function.
Here are the steps I took to restore ethernet, wifi, usb 3, power, and sound functions to my laptop. These steps must be done in this order to get the correct drivers to install. I let the newly installed Windows 10 update itself. Afterward, I downloaded Samsung's Software Update program. Software Update is here: http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/SWUpdate.aspx In the program, I selected "Find Model" and chose the model it advised and downloaded all of its Windows 8 drivers. I then installed any drivers that Windows 10 permitted me to install. I restarted Windows 10. After that, I went into the Device Manager and selected the Realtek Sound and asked Windows 10 to update the driver. Windows 10 then downloaded the proper driver and the sound worked.
I have not yet found a way to restore the function keys for my NP700Z5B laptop. Would anyone know how to do that?Kerguelan likes this. -
There was one more step that I took restore the wifi to my Series 7 NP700Z5B laptop in Windows 10. After installing the Samsung driver, I downloaded the Intel wireless driver for Win 8.1 64 bit for the Intel 6150 wifi card from Intel's website.

Thank you. Downloading a Windows 10 version of Samsung Settings for a more recent model worked to restore the function keys. I also found the ATI driver for switchable graphics a challenge when upgrading. Windows initially auto-installed a switchable graphics driver that worked fine but had a couple of drawbacks. Every time I turned on my laptop, the ATI driver caused a blank screen for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, but otherwise switchable graphics worked. To remove this boot delay, I had to search the registry with regedit.exe and find the "EnableULPS" setting and set it to 0. However the ATI driver that was installed the first two times I installed Windows 10 (one upgrade, one system reset), did not have the "EnableULPS" registry entry. On the third install, my second system reset, Windows 10 installed a different driver for switchable graphics that only allows the Intel integrated graphics but had the EnableULPS setting in the registry, and after I changed EnableULPS to 0, the blank screen delay on boot disappeared, and my laptop with an SSD starts in a few seconds. Since the ATI driver was buggy in my previous Windows 7 installation for years, I'm very happy to use only Intel graphics in my now more stable and faster laptop.
