The sad part ... 2 Years / 10 PCs Out of stock.

I bougt my ESET NOD32 Antivirus (2 Years /1 PC) at Kinguin a couple of years ago.

As you can see I'm soon in need for a new license. But looking for a licensee for more than one pc and with 2 years support. And Eset NOD32 is the only AV I will use. I don't want the full Security package. Neither will I use antivirus software from other companies.

Same here. I don't want the extra bloat. Only antivirus. The security suite is too much extra crap. Although I am not using anything on LTSC or W7. Only on the Cancer versions of W10 to help disable Defender's trash payload.

I just grabbed one of those multidevice keys from BestBuy Canada for $20.

Right now, I'm just running the AV. Is it worth installing the full security suite? Seems the popular opinion is it's mostly bloat, just like the rest of the full suites out there.

Is there any guide for tweaking/optimizing performance? I see all these setting for HIPS, cloud, etc. and have no idea if any of them are even essential.

All you need is the AV. It has a built in HTTP Scanner so it will intercept any malicious connection or download and block it before it even stats. Why get the Internet Security and have to deal with headaches of apps reporting no connectivity and having to mess with rules and what not. The Windows Firewall + NOD32 is all you need.

    Here is what I do:

    Install NOD32
Go to settings, Malware Scans , Removable Media and select Do Not Scan. No need to keep prompting you to scan a USB drive every time you connect it. If it had a virus then it will be neutralized upon access anyway..

Also go to Interface at the bottom and disable the splash screen.

Finally, run a full scan of your computer then reboot.

That will allow it to whitelist all files so they won't be scanned again if their file hashes haven't changed which greatly improves performance.

One more thing, go to the Exclusions, Performance Exclusions, and add Steam and Origin if you had that installed to it so games won't be scanned after the initial scan. I do this for most my safe apps to ensure no performance loss as I know they're safe/legit.

ESET really changed the settings since I last tried the trial version a month or 2 ago (real time and machine learning?)

I always exclude all drives other than C:\ for the same reason you provided for excluding removable media. That also takes care of games since I always install games and games clients to a drive other than C:\ drive.

The newegg page doesn't seem clear. I assume this is 1 year of each 3 devices? Dumb question, just want to make sure...

I have a single device key atm, expiring in March, but I do need a 2nd key asap. In fact, I was going to upgrade my license to 2 device soon anyway, so this is perfect timing.

It looks like adding a fresh 2-device license to my current one, via the standard ESET purchase, is 49/79/99 for 1/2/3 years. So it looks like I would still be better off just buying the newegg license w/ promo code. How does the newegg item work out if you already have a license? Do I just transfer my current key to a new key?

Would it make sense to buy 2 or 3 of the codes now and use them each year? I'm not sure I'm clear on the way that works from the newegg Q/A.

    @halpp @advice @spartan :oops: :eek: :cool: :D

No, a better option for you is to increase the license size, it' very cheap and when you increase the size you get 1 year additional added automatically: https://store.esetme.com/renew/ or
click on increase size from the top OR http://help.eset.com/license_manager/en-US/elm_managing_license.html

then the same key that you are using will be valid for 2 computers

you can then add the key to your My Eset Portal to manage activations: https://my.eset.com/Account

I originally bought a key from Kinguin. Worked great until I had to re-install Windows (2mo. into a 1 year licence). Then it tossed a "key has been leaked" message at me and I was SoL. I eventually managed to get a refund - Kinguin's response time is very slow and they tried to stick me with "instore credit" at first. Needless to say I purchased from a "legit" seller afterwards.

    Just my experience…

Had to uninstall the update because i switched to Internet Security by mistake, now back to NOD32 antivirus. Do you guys know if settings are kept with an uninstall and reinstall even if product switched from Antivirus to Internet Security in the middle of it?
I'm kinda bummed if i had to do the settings all over again. Also, i remember someone once posted a little guide on how to set up ESET correctly for perfomance, don't remember if it was Spartan, do you guys know where can i find it?

    EDIT:

No they didn't get saved. Shame on me

Aside from UI things that annoy me personally (splash screen at startup, program sounds, etc), the only thing I do is disable the HTTPS scanner as it slows down my browsing. It also had the potential to open up a man-in-the-middle vulnerability, but that was a while ago and could very well have been patched.

Is the HTTPS scanner = SSL/TSL scanner, and you just disable the whole thing? What's the risk if it's off?

Are you just out of luck when other people are using your license key (likely from crackware/generators/etc.)?

I have my device connected, but whenever I check my license key online through MyESET, there are at least 4 people I don't know using it. I can remove their device, but they just re-use it after a few minutes/hours.

It's annoying having to remove their devices, and ESET's CS is not helping at all.

I sent a couple of support queries to them. I think it was a week ago when I got curious and checked MyESET online after about 5 months of usage.

I got flooded with old notifications saying my license is overused. I had to delete like 30+ different devices initially. I've been deleting 4+ devices almost every couple of days when I check MyESET.

The CSRs haven't said anything at all.

    Call them if you can.

It could be an old bug has come back to the eset portal since the upgrade.

I had an issue like what you have where it was saying overused lic but it was in fact a glitch between NOD32 and the lic portal.

I has to wait till the next update after for it to disappear.

It's not a bug because you can clearly see the recent activation dates for the computers using the license key.

Just that a Generated lic picking up a genuine lic is very very rare.

Is your email account used for sending the license key secure ie uses 2 Step Authentication.

Looking at possible vector of how your license leaked.

I take it still no response from ESET Support, have you tried their forums etc?

I always have MFA activated whenever it's available. My passwords are usually 180+ bits, so I think I've taken some security steps in that regard.

The email is secure, and other people would have used more than just the ESET license key if they had access to it.

Yep, no response, but I did just post over their forums.

    https://forum.eset.com/topic/28352-overused-license-lock-license/

If a private license is floating around people need to double check own security behaviour. Very unlikely a Key gen smash out a new same license key once the previous is cleaned out by the real owners.

Funny thing is, I do have this behavior secured. Gone are the days where I just have 8 characters for a password.

In the ESET forums, it's been suggested that I reset my license key. I've done it so far (and changed my passwords again). I'm just going to observe if there are any leaks again in the next few weeks.

I just got the notice that my license expires in 2 weeks. What happens then? Stops working? Keeps working, but no updates?

I took a quick look into renewing except their options cost way more that I paid first time around, and it'd probably be cheaper to find a whole new license on sale somewhere.

that's better asked on ESET's own forum. I bought my license and a few other AV licenses from eBay from trusted sellers with 99.5% and above rating and never had an issue. I got it for like 20% of the value

I got a good year out of it, but I'm honestly not in a rush to renew or buy a new license atm. I'm seriously thinking about getting a new(ish) machine by years end - probably Linux ootb. If NOD32 will keep working and getting definition updates after expiry, that'd be good enough for now.
