Do any of you know whether an unlocked Dell Streak can use the T-Mobile 3G network? I just want to make sure its not stuck on Edge.

Im pretty sure T-mobile uses the following bands 900/1900/2100 ... if it supports toughs bands it should work... all of the new smartphones out that support simcards usually support toughs bands

You have to root to install ROM Manager to get ClockworkMod. OR you can just put the Clockworkmod update.zip on your SD and install it from Samsung's recovery.

To the best of my knowledge, that's how it happens in Europe. In the US, you buy them out.

Annoyingly, to get the site I want, I'd have to kill a high-ranking Indian government minister :p

I want www.ia.in but the Indian government has chosen to withhold all 2-letter domain names.
I might need to bump off their entire cabinet to achieve my aim ;)

I don't know why but ShootMe has stopped working on my phone

"screenshot" from the market has never let me down. It just requires root... plus it doesn't have that notification bar icon in every *bleepin* screenshot.

    It's clean :p

Just need to work out how to make the notification bar black.
    Or better yet semi-transparent.

As mentioned previously, I'd love to be able to turn that wallpaper into a live wallpaper where the hexagonal sections made up buttons to control bluetooth etc.

edit: while I think about it, any recommendations as to which is the best app for OCing/under-volting?
I'll probably only use it to under-volt my CPU as it's plenty fast already.

Thanks, that's a useful link and a pretty nifty-looking app.

The only two issues are that it's limited by the constraints of the widget grid layout of the homescreen, meaning it would be difficult to line them up with the background image. Which in turn means you can only define square or rectangular shapes.
Plus I'm hoping that if I ever manage to make this all work, I'd want the segments that make up each switch to change colour a wee bit to show whether each function is switched on or off.

But definitely a useful app to know about, thanks.

On AMOLED screen black image/background saves power, On LCD screens it makes no difference.

But look at how much more power it takes to make a white screen! Over 300% more power than LCD... that's it's biggest downfall. Because a lot of people are browsing the web on their phone, it's the browser on AMOLED phones that will eat the battery ALIVE.

I can make the statusbar translucent ( though it only shows up as such when using a live wallpaper ) but when I try and make the notification area translucent, it doesn't work

Brands in SD cards is important... try to stick with Sandisk, Samsung, Toshiba, or PNY. They all make their own memory chips, so their quality is more predictable. Also, I think Patriot sources from Samsung, so they're alright.

I bought a 16GB class 10 Kingmax card after asking in another thread here and having tested it when it arrived, it's definitely decent.

As for the lockscreen, no Cyanogen for the Motorola Defy due to the encrypted bootloader.
Though there is talk of someone having cracked the signing method for the Defy, so that custom ROMs can be signed to get round the issue. So maybe Cyanogen might be an option for the future.

Ok. Thanks. Im using that widget now. Im also using the "phone usage" app. O like how it monitors everything and breaks it down. Only thing i don't like is to use it as a widget you have to pay $2 for it.

Also, Im using AT&T. If Im on the web using wifi, does that activity go against my database plan, or is it free since the data isn't transferred via 3G?
