Do any of you know whether an unlocked Dell Streak can use the T-Mobile 3G network? I just want to make sure its not stuck on Edge.
-
Im pretty sure T-mobile uses the following bands 900/1900/2100 ... if it supports toughs bands it should work... all of the new smartphones out that support simcards usually support toughs bands

You have to root to install ROM Manager to get ClockworkMod. OR you can just put the Clockworkmod update.zip on your SD and install it from Samsung's recovery.
To the best of my knowledge, that's how it happens in Europe.
In the US, you buy them out.
-
Annoyingly, to get the site I want, I'd have to kill a high-ranking Indian government minister
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Fun! A challenge! Make sure to leave fingerprints and a strand or two of hair at the crime scene.
-
I want www.ia.in but the Indian government has chosen to withhold all 2-letter domain names.
I might need to bump off their entire cabinet to achieve my aim
I don't know why but ShootMe has stopped working on my phone
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
"screenshot" from the market has never let me down. It just requires root... plus it doesn't have that notification bar icon in every *bleepin* screenshot. -
+1
Best music player ever. Full band equalizer FTW!
oh god your buying that too? XD
-
You mean this one?
-
Screen Capture is the best one IMO, ive been using it after trying alot of different ones.
-
-
very simple
-
It's clean
Just need to work out how to make the notification bar black.
Or better yet semi-transparent.
As mentioned previously, I'd love to be able to turn that wallpaper into a live wallpaper where the hexagonal sections made up buttons to control bluetooth etc.
edit: while I think about it, any recommendations as to which is the best app for OCing/under-volting?
I'll probably only use it to under-volt my CPU as it's plenty fast already. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Indeed. That one.
EDIT: OC/UV is usually kernel dependent. -
Depending on what ROM your using, some have the option to change the color.
Otherwise i think its Theme-dependant.
-
For the Defy it involves fiddling around with the framework.res.
-
So, in my search to discover how to create a Live Wallpaper, I'm now downloading every Android SDK released to date.
It's not what you'd call a quick process... -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Ha! It's not. It's also not a small installation. 37,077 files on 1.99GB of disk space.
EDIT: Iain... Open Chrome so you can translate and give this page a look... http://streak.forumgratuit.fr/t292-...avec-icones-invisibles-exemple-theme-abstrait -
And there's no saying I'll ever work out how to do it even after I get everything downloaded...
-
Can anyone tell me what "Voodoo" is? My HTC didnt have this
-
Thanks, that's a useful link and a pretty nifty-looking app.
The only two issues are that it's limited by the constraints of the widget grid layout of the homescreen, meaning it would be difficult to line them up with the background image. Which in turn means you can only define square or rectangular shapes.
Plus I'm hoping that if I ever manage to make this all work, I'd want the segments that make up each switch to change colour a wee bit to show whether each function is switched on or off.
But definitely a useful app to know about, thanks. -
Sweet background, where can I pick that up?
-
Here you go...

On AMOLED screen black image/background saves power, On LCD screens it makes no difference.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
But look at how much more power it takes to make a white screen! Over 300% more power than LCD... that's it's biggest downfall. Because a lot of people are browsing the web on their phone, it's the browser on AMOLED phones that will eat the battery ALIVE. -
So I've been fiddling around with theming my Defy.
I can make the statusbar translucent ( though it only shows up as such when using a live wallpaper
) but when I try and make the notification area translucent, it doesn't work
-
Anyone know of an app that can track how many hours you work per week and how much you make?
-
calculator
-
Abducted! :d
-
Thanks for the wallpaper!
What is the best app out there for monitoring your data as far as things like 3G data? -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Just ordered the Samsung Galaxy Tab, hopefully it will get honeycomb at some point.
Oh yeah, the 7" version not the 8.9" as it`s to big for your pocket, also the prices has dropped because the the new version. -
I use Data counter widget, you don't have to use th widget per say. Just what the app is called.
-
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?
-
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
I did not pay cash, so i did not get the best deal at £450
-
Eh?
It shouldn't matter how you pay.
Where did you get it from? -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
I got it from Very, see link below, 12months interest free, and new customers get 10% off.
7in Galaxy Tab Tablet PC | Very.co.uk
-
Ok.
The reason I asked is that it's possible to get it cheaper elsewhere but not with the 12 months interest-free.
Namely here. -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Yeah, nothing is free in this life, and the one you linked come with an 16gb microsd as well to make it 32gb
, it must be nice to have money
-
Anyone have any suggestions for a customisable lock-screen?
-
well if your running any cyanogen mod then any gingerbread build has a ton of options for the lockscreen
-
Ok, so I figured it is time to get over my slow as hell class 2 SD card.
Where is the best place to buy these SD cards?! What brands should I be looking for? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Brands in SD cards is important... try to stick with Sandisk, Samsung, Toshiba, or PNY. They all make their own memory chips, so their quality is more predictable. Also, I think Patriot sources from Samsung, so they're alright. -
I have this one. It s cheap, fast, and has good reviews.
-
I bought a 16GB class 10 Kingmax card after asking in another thread here and having tested it when it arrived, it's definitely decent.
As for the lockscreen, no Cyanogen for the Motorola Defy due to the encrypted bootloader.
Though there is talk of someone having cracked the signing method for the Defy, so that custom ROMs can be signed to get round the issue. So maybe Cyanogen might be an option for the future. -
well if you like tigerdirect on facebook before tomorrow (I think) you get a 10$ off giftcard from them... with that you can get a cheap sd card. I ordered a transend class 6 8gb for 8 bucks after shipping... cheaper then newegg!
-
Ok. Thanks. Im using that widget now. Im also using the "phone usage" app. O like how it monitors everything and breaks it down. Only thing i don't like is to use it as a widget you have to pay $2 for it.
Also, Im using AT&T. If Im on the web using wifi, does that activity go against my database plan, or is it free since the data isn't transferred via 3G? -
Wifi and 3G are 100% separate, don't worry about that.
Just make sure you have only 1 on at a time.
-
At least on my phone...dunno about others..but when wifi's on and you're successfully connected, it disables the 3G connection
-
What do you mean? isn't the phone always on 3g when its on for calls and such? Om on bed now and have the phone connected to the home wifi while I browse NBR. Im a phone n00b.

We should have this threads name changed to like: "The Android Thread".
