Ok I just turns the wifi on and off and ot enables/disable 3G. So does wifi usage go against my data plan? I have a 2GB/mo plan.

Also how much data does streaming Pandora use?

Ha, I've been thinking that for a while now...just never thought about mentioning it.. :p I agree. :D

Of course not. Wi-Fi will never count toward your capped data, that's one reason why wi-fi's there- So you can take advantage of faster data speeds AND stay within your data cap. You'll also find that your battery will last longer when you're connected to wi-fi. Just be sure you turn off wi-fi before you leave the house, or it'll keep searching for a signal.

I'm not exactly sure how much data Pandora uses, although I'd assume a sizable amount. Because I'm on an unlimited plan and don't mind waiting a extra few seconds between songs while driving, I have Pandora set to stream in high quality.

I'd personally go old school and use the phone's music app with your own tunes (you can sync music on the phone's SD card easily with WMP...just plug it in and select "Turn on USB Storage"...then launch WMP) and save Pandora for occasional usage while on 3G if I was on a 2 GB plan.

Gah, why are so many people idiots?

Over on XDA-devs, the number of people whining because their phone connects to the internet automatically or how much of a hassle it is to completely disable data usage.

That's how the OS is designed to work!

If you don't want a phone that connects to the internet automatically, don't go for Android.

lmao! I wish my grandmother was that cool, texting grandparents must be awesome :D
But I can see that younger people (from 14 to 18) will text more than most adults (18+).
That happened to me :p I used to text much more when I was still in high school, now I much prefer calling when I can.

The MyTouch Slide isn't a bad phone at all. Great keyboard and surprisingly speedy for what it is. :) Only downside could be Espresso but some people like HTC Sense and some dont, to each their own. :)

There is a free app called "AnTu Benchmark" , among other things it does an read/write speed test of you sd card, handy if you want to know the in device speed.

EDIT : It only tests the internal flash memory speed, not external flash :(

I'm not convinced by some of the claims in that article - especially the one about manufacturers over-rating their batteries.
At work we regularly see batteries come back with test print-outs showing them to be at >100% of their rated capacity for up to the first 6 months at least.

I am not surprised, if you charge it every day, in six months you would only have charged it 180 times, way short of the approx minimum life of 500, 100% discharge cycles of the report and they claimed you should replace the battery when the capacity reaches 70%
