This is true for me too but I also am running close to maxing my current 16gb SD card and there is still so much more I would like to have on my phone. But again battery life is also very important cause I can't work if my phone is dead. So yeah in a tough spot between an expandable battery or storage.

Apparently the main reason it will get better battery life is due to the 4g being integrated into the chip rather then its own entity. But no matter what a fixed battery is still a scary situation for me.

sounds like my charging jack is starting to die...i can never seem to be able to keep a phone without it breaking somehow.....

i might need to look into extended battery or the inductive charging dock

Even a heavily modded custom ROM with the Motorola launcher sucks the big one. Its much smoother this time but the "recent" apps screen is hopelessly broken with tapatalk. If i switch apps from a specific forum thread to something else and then switch back, I'm brought to the "unread recents" view.

its not RAM because I can bring up the recent apps screen from where I am right now, hit Tapatalk and end up in a different forum's "unread" view.

either its tapatalk or Moto...I'll likely switch launchers (the ROM came with several) to see what's what.

I take it we've all seen the rumours about the LG handset with the quad-core Krait CPU?

You and those charging ports... :p

Yep. If LG can't compete on software, looks like they know they'll have to compete on hardware... And they're sure as hell competing. APQ8064 with Adreno 320 and 2GB of RAM.

Of course, if the previous, similar rumours about HTC and Verizon are true, LG's handset wouldn't even be that competitive.

I really don't understand why HTC would make their battery non-replaceable.

I understand it's probably a form factor/design thing but considering the poor battery life 4G phones (and Android?) are having, you would think they would keep in mind that being able to have an extra battery or put in an after-market extended battery is a plus.

You bet ya! And what's good about this rumor is that it's not a wild one. We're not talking about an almost bezeless phone with a 1080p display, 128GB flash memory, 24MP camera etc. We're talking about the first Quad-Core Krait phone sporting 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 2,1000 mAh battery, 4.67-inch 1280x768 display and a 13MP camera, all of which is believable.

I know lol. It's one thing after another.

edit: that multitasking issue turned out to be Tapatalk and GB's fault. I installed and rebooted into Launcher2 and sure enough, the "direct to forum" shortcuts Tapatalk 2 lets you create are the problem.

launching via a main tapatalk shortcut solves the issue.

still, the thing's faster than Moto's for sure.

It's still pretty unbelievable since Qualcomm themselves don't have the quad-core Kraits pencilled in 'til next year.

Just installed ICS on my note today. The phone stock is now much smoother than gingerbread. It used to lag a lot. All good now. And as per Step's recommendation, I downloaded Apex launcher. Pretty sweet. Anything I should know about it?

We don't have a time frame for the release of the phone yet though. The one pictured might just as well be a prototype. Might be a bit early for that, so as always we'll just have to wait and see.

    Did you install XXLPY?

PLEASE, BY ANY MEANS, DO NOT WIPE! NOT EVEN CACHE!

There is a superbrick bug affecting XXLPY on the N7000, UCLD3 on the I777 and the Siyah 3.1rc6 kernel on the GSII. If you wipe, it'll fry the eMMC partition and make your phone unrecoverable. AT ALL.

More info in the following links :

Public Service Announcement: ICS Leaks and Recovery - xda-developers

4.0.3 LPY affected with BRICK BUG? *poll added* - xda-developers

Not everyone was affected, but just watch out :)

That is the one I flashed via mobile odin. I read about this last night before I did it. I did wipe cache and dalvik through mobile odin though haha. I didn't flash the cf root that they thought might've been the culprit. I guess I would know if something was wrong with my device though? It seems pretty stable right now. Haven't had one issue yet. Anyone think I should stop using it? Or think it'll be ok?

As long as you don't wipe anything, you're fine, provided you have an affected kernel.

But it's up to you. You can return to GB and from there flash CM9...

Millions times yes! It's true ICS ;)

BUT, you'll lose your S Pen native apps! You won't have S Memo and so on.

But, with OpenDesign that should change in the next months.

Yes, since it uses Google's YAFFS2 Filesystem as opposed to Samsung's RFS FS. This makes it an overall much superior performer.

anyway, found out that my phone isnt broken. I forgot that Motorola is apparently trying to be friggin sony and basically required their microusb cord to actually charge the thing when your using their software (im using a highly modified custom rom based on their gingerbread build).

i plug in the cord and it charges up fine....idiots

They change the file system aswell? That's new to me... It does explain the speed gain tho.

LOL. Sony is going good with the game by helping AOSP commits & merges, the new phones have a new design, good hardware... Sony and Samsung are IMO the way to go atm.

It's been the AOSP standard for a while now. Why else do you think CyanogenMod flashes twice the first time (from a stock ROM) and subsequent updates require only a single flash? ;) You on XDA?

These ones are interesting in the 14th nightly :

The first one I don't exactly know what it does, but hopefully the 2nd will fix the bootloop after the PIN screen.

Anyone have a galaxy nexus and if so how do you like it? Seriously thinking this is the phone for me over the new evo LTE.

This is the main reason why Ill probably end up with the galaxy nexus over the HTC. Sure the larger battery is great and all but Im still worried that it wont be up to a full day of use and then Im stuck with a built in battery.

Yea, I'm not 100% sure but doesn't Samsung also use BML on the GS2 as well? A BML/EXT4 combo?

I know on the OG Galaxy S it was BML/RFS. It required not only a reformat of the internal partitions to EXT4, but also to change BML to MTD.

I wish it was for me too... I don't have many Android friends in school, and those that have, have a ZTE Blade, Sapo a7, Samsung Galaxy Mini... Although the ZTE Blade owner is also an Android geek like me, so he has CM9 :D

And no, I'm not a dev. I just love Android but I do know quite a lot of about it. If you check my XDA profile, take a look at my recovery guide :)

I got my GNex about 2 months ago and love it. :D

I've had a few different phones before this one (iPhones, HTC HD7 and LG O2x) but this is the first one of been truly satisfied with. Stock ICS is beautiful and the ease of flashing custom ROMs and alike on a Nexus is unmatched. Sure, it doesn't have the most powerful internals but the lack of bloatware and third party software more than makes up for it in speed. Install a custom kernel and an AOSP ROM and this thing flies!

Now as strange as it may sound, the GNex has the best battery life I have come across in a smartphone. Yes, this blows the battery of my old iPhone 4S out of the water. I have the GSM variant (Australia) and at the moment, am sitting at 70% after over 24 hours on battery, with light-moderate use.

I would definitely go and try one out in a store if possible. Stock Android ICS will not be for everyone but I much prefer it over Sense and Touchwiz, so if you are not a fan of those overlays, the Nexus is a prime choice.

I have played with the galaxy nexus alot in the store and I love it. The reason Im not settled on it is the evo 4g LTE is the perfect phone minus the non replaceable battery.

Will do. Glad to hear there are happy owners as some of the places I go its all HTC fanboys (kinda guilty of being one) telling me how terrible the phone is when I know it cant be that bad. Im going to be picking on up thursday morning and passing on the HTC evo LTE (although I will mess with the new evo and watch reviews to make sure).
