I'm personally waiting for their Medfield stuff later in September. I hope it won't disappoint.

Based on what I've seen from Moto today, my trust that it won't disappoint has completely fell off a cliff.
ATM, if Moto's Intel devices are actually good it will shock me. -
Meh, the Motorola keynote was disappointing. I was always waiting for the promised "bezel-less" phone, but all I got was a Razr HD. Still Dual core, 1GB RAM and Pentile. i was very disappointed with Motorola, I was expecting much more.
Next up on disappointment : Apple. Only one that has the slight chance to surprise the community is HTC on September 19th. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Well, looks like my feelings were right.
Intel's first smartphone with Motorola will be a revamped Droid RAZR M | The Verge -
I was just about to post that....pass.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I was sincerely hoping that would be their design break-away from all this RAZR mess.
Obviously I was mistaken. -
You just wait, they will revive the KRZR next...
-
I didn't think the handsets Motorola announced were that bad - dual-core Krait, HD screens etc etc whilst not pushing the envelope put them squarely at the top table, with only LG and Xiaomi having done anything tangibly better.
I would even be tempted by the RAZR HD ( don't care either way about the branding personally) provided it were the Maxx variant and had an unlocked bootloader ( and was GSM not CDMA, obviously). -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
God help us all.
But see, that's just too many "and's". Moto will continue with their locked bootloaders, carrier variants WILL be locked with no chance of unlock, their design is stale, their materials are beginning to turn iffy, and if you look at what they've done with Krait so far it's consistently underperforming compared to other devices like the HTC One XL or Galaxy S III (US). -
It's a lot but they're all there - there is a Maxx version, there is a GSM version and they will be doing a version with unlockable bootloaders.
All Motorola need to do is put all those together into a single handset and it would be quite compelling IMO.
By under-performing, I take it you mean benchmarks?
Because Sony of all people have managed to best Samsung and HTC with the benchmarks from their new Krait-based handsets.
That would be fixable with an unlocked bootloader though, the Dev community would sort it. -
Not only in benchmarks but in battery life. Both Samsung and HTC handsets using S4 manage to have better battery life than the respective Motorola's...Photon Q 4g is one example.

RIZR, SLVR, ROKR, and...PEBL... they are coming.ಠ_ಠ

DYNATac. Trololollo
-
Why not STARTAC?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
If you're going old-skool, it must be done right. Plus the DYNATac is "dual-mode". Phone and weapon! -
Nvm, I'll post this question in the accessories forums.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Looks like an MHL adapter. Does your phone (or custom ROM) support MHL?
-
theneighborrkid Notebook Evangelist
anyone know if the NFL Sunday Ticket app is HD?
-
I haven't rooted/custom ROM'd my phone yet, so I'll have to look into that - thanks!

On a side note:
I spent about 45 minutes in the washroom installing a full body protector by Xtreme Guard.
The back of the phone was easy, but very annoying since it was broken into several small pieces. The front was a major PAIN ...took 6 tries because I kept on somehow getting a microscopic piece of fuzz on it that I would only notice after the install. Thankfully you can remove it and replace it, which doesn't destroy it.
If anyone is wondering how to install correctly, have:
1. Bowl of water with 2 drops of soap mixed into it
2. Microfiber cloth
3. Plastic piece ...a loaf of bread plastic tie thingy will do it
1. Soak the protection sheet
2. Watch it drip - do not touch anything or you risk getting fuzz/dirt on it
3. Place it on your phone and use the bread plastic tie to push the bubbles/water away
4. Dip the microfiber cloth on watery spots
5. Let it sit for 6 hours+ -
While we're talking about protection, I wanted to say that I got a Ringke Slim case for my GNex and it's absolutely great. Beats the hell out of the tpu case I had before it.

If you're willing to take a gamble for a Galaxy S III: Samsung galaxy s3 | eBay

How could you pass up a seller with 0% feedback describing items as "this item are new box"?

You'd be suprised. I've scored with similar deals. eBay always has you covered.

The only thing that would surprise me is if these phones are actually shipped and aren't stolen.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Uhh okay so I flashed a hacked ClockWerk Recovery rom onto my phone, when I go to open it up, it wanted me to verify my phone model there, and my phone (Galaxy S Blaze 4G) isn't on there? It was an offical mod from XDA forums?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
To get into recovery you power off your phone and then hold down Vol+ and Vol- and Power until you get into CWM.
That's if you've already flashed it. If you're in the CWM Manager app.... -

Please....please let Verizon continue the relatively recent trend of getting decent handsets. The LG Intuition is a freaking joke. -

They've got the Galaxy S III and the best One X equivalent in the US.
I would say the only thing they're really missing is Windows Phone handsets and the Galaxy Note family. -
And supposedly Sprint will be getting the Note II.
With expansion of their LTE network and still unlimited data plans, Sprint is looking better for value. -
GSMArena did a preview on the Note II N7100: Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100 preview: A closer look - GSMArena.com
It's quite a benchmark monster. Very impressed with Samsung's Exynos SoCs, and this is still A9 based! -
Sorry I'm a bit late on this or draggin up something older. Installing I think I get, easy enough. Is it any different to install the new updates every few days? I just don't like having to setup all my widgets over and over and such. Anyway, thanks again. I really just need to learn and become familiar with this stuff more.
Just to double check befor flashing, to update I just need to have cm-9.0.0-captivatemtd on the SD card, boot into recovery and flash that correct? (choose zip from SD card) Just want to make sure I have it down. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Yea, the updates/nightlies won't wipe any user data. They update the /system partition only. All user data and preferences are stored on /data and /datadata.
Basically, you just download an update/nightly/stable version of CM, put it on your internal SD and flash it in recovery. Immediately after flashing you need to wipe "cache" and under "advanced" wipe the "dalvik cache".
Also, if you're running something like Nova Launcher or Apex, you can go into the settings and backup your homescreen/widget configuration.
BTW, and this is to all Android users on ICS or JB, try the beta of Nova Launcher. EXTREMELY SMOOTH. -
Awesome. Thanks. Yea I love Nova Launcher. I just have the free version, not Prime. Still nice though.

So I flashed the update, and somehow I lost all my numbers, well about 99% of them. I had maybe 10 still in the phone. I had a backup from a few weeks ago via Superbackup, and was able to restore those. Are my numbers on the phone and not the SD card? Anyway that wasn't too bad. But now I have a few apps that seem to have gotten wiped. They come up with the droid character as the icon and say not installed when I select them. So I'll have to reinstall those. No biggie, excpet play store closes before it even opens. Acts like it's going to launch and doesn't. Also my networks, wifi/mobile seem grayed out, but I can still get on facebook.
I looked in the settings and didn't see anything, but I know I must be missing something. They should be lit up blue correct? What am I missing here? Thanks guys.
Also H.A.L., This newer build is nice! Way more features to customize! Wow, I've been missing out!
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Reinstall GApps. LOL. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that after flashing an update you have to reflash the gapps.
Whoops. :/
That's why your numbers were gone. When the Google Apps were deleted, it removed your sync account/contacts. They should all come back when you re-flash GApps.
-
So I'm getting a Galaxy S3.
And a Galaxy Note 10.1. -
I'm an idiot lol. I even though, hmm wonder if I need to reinstall the GApps. Then I didn't.
Thanks again!
-
I almost had to come here for help on a problem with my galaxy note. I installed a newer cm10 and wasn't happy with it so I went back to PA cm9. But every time I ran adfree or nova launcher the app kept getting automatically denied by superuser. I then realized maybe I lost my root through all of the flashing of different roms and I was right. Good thing it was extremely easy to root again thanks to the people at xda. Just had to download a file to my external sd and flash it. Pretty sweet. No more superuser trouble.
Also, Hal, you were right. Nova beta is extremely smooth. Love the extra features you pay for too. Definitely worth it. Last note too, I want to get the note 2 but I'm not sure it'll be a good enough upgrade for me personally. Res is going down just a little but my phone with roms is pretty darn smooth and fast. And when JB releases it will be amazing. I love this phone haha. Any thoughts? -
I love lamp.
On a serious note, I prefer Apex to Nova.
Nothing wrong with Nova, I just felt having tried both free versions that Apex gave you more so I was more inclined to pay for the full version, if that makes sense.
Other than that, part of me agrees with you about the Note2, it's not quite what I was expecting - though I'm hoping that my company phone will get switched from a Galaxy S3 to the Note2. -
Haha. I liked everything about apex when I first tried it. It just didn't work well with my phone. Nova was the smoothest, for me again. But it has been a while since I tried apex. Maybe I will.
And in your case, I would much prefer the note 2 as well. I tried my boss' s3 and while it was nice I sorely missed my big screen. -
Well, I'd be coming from a Galaxy Nexus, so even the S3 would be an improvement.
The only issues are a) I wouldn't be able to customise the handset much as it won't be mine as such and b) no idea whether it'll be the LTE version or not... -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I don't think that the Note 2 is a suitable upgrade for a Note owner. The original Note N7000 is a helluva phone. The only thing in Exynos 4412 that's different is there's 2 more CPU cores (you can OC the original), there's a new ISP for the camera and instant image capture and the GPU has higher clocks from a process shrink. -
Apex Launcher is awesome on my tablet. Best one I've used so far
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
What tablet do you have? G-Note 10.1? I remember you said you could get a discount on it? -
So, I need to get an iPhone. I continually mess up my Android phones.
My I9100 arrived today running a custom rom. I download the correct firmware, pit, and Odin. I clicked start, but it didn't start. The bar didn't move and nothing changed. I waited for a bit, and thought maybe I'd done something wrong. I closed Odin and powered the phone off. Now, it won't turn on. Sad Mischief
-
Go Launcher Pro is awesome for me!
-
What did you flash? You sure it was an I9100? Describe what happened/did/flashed a bit better.
-
Crap, I found the guide I used and it was for a Galaxy S I9000. :faceplam:

Like I said, I should just get an iPhone and join the iSheep. -
