Ahah, nah I could definitely pay the 20$ but I don't know where to buy D:
-
-
I paid $20 for a OEM Samsung Vibrant battery, sealed.
On another note, the Vibrant pones are tough! I just played Ultimate Frisbee for an hour with it in my pocket. And I dove across the ground on the phone several times. I caught the Frisbees, and my phone came out spotless. -

Indeed. People say plastic makes them feel cheap, but I think it makes them tougher, and more resistant to impact. Try doing that with an iPhone 4. You'd have a cracked back-plate probably.
I'm not necessarily dissing the iPhone, but it's just not as durable as the "cheap" Galaxy S. Drop the iPhone 4 once on a solid surface like tile or cement or pavement from chest height and something is going to break, crack, or shatter. -
The iPhone is unique in using glass on the back though.
You can't read anything into phones in general from it.
To say that plastic makes phones more durable compared to, say, a metal body would be pretty ridiculous. -
Hey HAL, what do you think of this kernel? Im thinking of flashing it
[Kernel] Tigers Blood v2.2 Voodoo Lagfix, Sound, Color, BLN, OC/UV[03/18/11] - xda-developers -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Looks good to me! Voodoo Sound v5 is awesome, and this kernel also has Voodoo Lagfix... it talks to you on first boot to let you know the conversion status.
Did you get a custom ROM loaded up?
Only thing to watch out for is what OC/UV code the dev is using... some are stable and some aren't... and some suck battery and some don't. -
Hahaha yeah i heard that
Flashed it and it seems good!
Im using this one, its pretty nice, fast so far, and booting is really fast.
XDA-Developers
For the OC/UV im just using what the OP/creator of the kernel is using. And im only UVing, not OCing

Too bad XDA is down... I can't see the link.

AT&T to acquire T-Mobile from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion | BGR
Er, wow?
edit: someone else chose to start a thread over here, so I guess that's where any such discussions should take place... -
This blows. AT&T sucks. Hopefully they dont absorb the T-Mobile brand.
There goes my good pre-paid plans, and unlimited data will soon dissapear. -
Where did you buy it?
And yeah I know, I dropped my phone from the top of my locker at the gym, it bounced on the corner of the frame, but there has been basically no problem! Just a little scratch on the impact zone, nothing wrong with the screen or the buttons! -

What do you guys make of the app "android optimizer" does it work? , is it safe?
-
I assume you're talking about this: https://market.android.com/details?id=cn.opda.a.phonoalbumshoushou
I've never used it...apps like that give off a "this is sketchy/doesn't work" vibe similar to what I get when I see "PC Defender Pro 5 in 1" in the 3 dollar software bin at Wal-Mart.
I'd pass on it really. There are stand alone apps that do a far better job at their specific functions than this IMO.
File Manager: Astro
AV/Remote Wipe/Remote Track on a map: Lookout or Norton Mobile Security
Managing Processes: Android itself does a good job of this and presenting them for easy closing if you want.
I'm sure there's others but that's what I think of off the top of my head. -
I found mine on eBay. I had to make sure it was a real OEM battery, not just one from HK labeled OEM compatible. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
You still have at the very least 12-15 months.
-
By then ill be just about able to switch to sprint on contract, so thats good
-
Tmobile got rid of their unlimited plans last month
-
On pre-paid, me and ahl pay $1.50 for a 24 hour 3G web pass.
-
well thats different.... thats cheaper then paying 30 bucks a month for their limited plans
-
???????
T-Mobile still offers unlimited plans.
T-Mobile Plans
They actually offer the cheapest unlimited plan too (for the time being)
yeah its nice
i actually havent done it yet though
Itll be gone once everything switches to AT&T though. -
really? everytime I look it up its always 30 bucks for like a 5gb plan
-
@ HAL & J0ker, or anyone with a Galaxy S.
Have you found any way to reliably fix the damn GPS and make it work?
Look at my link, they have a few different unlimited plans
-
Mine works fine, are you running the stock rom?
-
No, but even when i was, it wouldnt work right reliably.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
I have on my ROM's. GPS has been flawless for me... hold on and I'll get the files for you...
Sitting still most of them do work, but when you get to moving they track movement horribly. Like you'll be headed down a street on Google Maps, and your GPS will show your track over in the buildings or on another street...
-
If anyone is interested I Got my bluetooth gps hooked up to my nook! I transfered over my copy of copilot and now I got a 7in gps and media portal on the go!
-
Ok, thanks alot.
Ive tried multiple "fixes" methods changing settings, flashing zips, nothing works.
LOL
nice. i cant get it to find me at all
-
I just tried the Gingerbread leak for Vibrant, and the browser is absolutely smooth. Too bad, the graphic card driver seems to be really buggy; therefore, isn't playing mkv files correctly. Otherwise, I would have kept it as dd.
-
I've tested my previous Vibrant and my current Vibrant while driving and they worked fine. One was stock, the other Axura.
Nice! 7" GPS -
nice
But yeah, none of them are functional enough for me to use yet. -
Virgin Mobile would like a word with you
Cell Phone Plans - Pay As You Go and Prepaid | Virgin Mobile
Unlimited data and unlimited messaging, with 300 minutes for $25 a month. If 300 isn't enough, they've also got 1,200 minutes (also with unlimited data + messages) for $40, or unlimited everything for $60. These are all no-contract plans, too. -
So I've logged my Defy in for repair and, er, *cough* borrowed *cough* the store's Nexus S to use while it's away.
-
Hahaha i know
I cant use my Samsung Vibrant on there though, otherwise i would be on virgin within a day.
-
I know, once they sort out the graphic (video, flash, etc), then it's a daily driver. I don't care much for GPS, I have dedicated Garmin for that.

edit: how strange - just had an e-mail from Google about the Nexus S...Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
No Amazon app store in Canada yet, boo!
-
What keyboard do you guys use?! I can't stand my Galaxy keypad anymore.
-
Technically not using it just now as my Defy is away for repair and I can't be bothered customising this Nexus S...
-
i use my slideout qwerty keyboard because i always liked physical keyboards. otherwise... i guess the gingerbread keyboard is what i use.
-
Smart Keyboard Pro
Multitouch, suggestions, themes, lots of options, adjust key height, no fullscreen in landscape option.
And Swype for one handed typing
-
The problem with suggestion is that I type time in half of the time in french and the other half in english so it basically screws it
I tried smart keyboard.
I'm tempted to try ultra keyboard..
Levenly: You are lucky to have a physical keyboard!
-
There's a 24 hour trial for Ultra Keyboard.
-
I use SwiftKey, you can use multi language prediction, and it can learn from your existing texts. There is a free trial in the android market.
-
I think thats the one for you
-
Why?
You probably didn't know that I only write in one language.
-
I think he was talking to Thierry.
-
Ah.
-
Heh, I downloaded Ultra Keyboard, it's not that good *-)
Is there anyway to get a refund?!
I'm trying the swiftkey trial! -
You can get a refund within 15 minutes of purchase IIRC. (from Android market)
-
Haha yeah
