As Johnny says, you can get a refund within 15 minutes.
Otherwise, you should've downloaded the trial.

Woohoooooo!
After standing outside in the cold in the middle of the street in the cold, messing with settings for 20 minutes, I HAVE FIXED MY GPS!
lol
-
Errr, everytime I try to root my phone, this message comes:
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
D:
What am I doing wrong? -
well aprently your not rooting it right... what part did you do before you got that error message
-
Do you have 3e recovery?
if so, your in the same boat i was
you have to do a different method.
Look on the top of your recovery screen, it should say 3e, 2e, something like that.
-
Well I boot in recovery mode, select install update.zip and it doesn't work!
I see 3e :O
What does that mean?! -
yep thats why
First of all, you need to flash a custom ROM with ClockworkMod, not with stock recovery
You have to go back to 2e recovery, to be able to use ClockworkMod.
Guide: ** [GUIDE] FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK + ODIN SUPPORT! N00b Friendly ** - xda-developers
Follow the "Boot Cycle" instructions. Then you will be on 2e recovery and Android 2.1 Stock.
From there, Get ROM manager, flash ClockworkMod, go to recovery, select "reinstall packages" (or something like that), and then you will be taken to ClockworkMod and can install a custom ROM.
It sounds horribly long and complex, but it actually isnt that hard
and its well worth it
Also, i had to do the ODIN thing twice for it to work, it didnt boot the first time, so just a suggestion if the same thing happens to you
Credit to HAL, for sending me that guide in the first place
-
Boy that looks like a mess! After that I'll have to install another version of froyo I guess?
-
Ohhh wait your not trying to install a custom ROM, your just trying to root. XD
You only need to do that process if you want a custom ROM
This should work then.
[PROGRAM] AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5 *Beginners Start Here* Also for advanced users - xda-developers -
Well I don't have a Vibrant I actually have a I9000M, so I tried to find a guide, I found this one: [11.03.2011][CF-Root v1.3]JPH/K/6/M/A/O/U/X/Y,JS2/3/5/7,JQ3,JV1 - su+bb+2e,CWM compat - xda-developers
But my phone is "JL2", and not one of his download is for JL2.. D: -
Hmm yeah dont take the chance.
Use this

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Ahh... So you have a Bell Vibrant, which is basically an i9000. I'd be careful with those. I think the i9000M was the model with mass amounts of internal SD failure.

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Working Netflix APK for Gingerbread users!!
I'll host this for as long as I can... Click Me. -
Shame NetFlix Canada sucks.
Probably won't work in Canada either way.
With all the desktop browser talk going on, which browser do you all use on your Android handsets? -
Stock Browser, Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Firefox
If im on 3G i use Opera Mini because it uses less data
Otherwise im trying to decide if the Stock browser, Opera Mobile, or Firefox is better
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Stock or Firefox.
With a proper hosts file the stock browser is amazing! Shows mobile Safari up. -
Speaking of hosts file....
Adfree does not work for me on my Vibrant.
IIRC, there is some way for me to put in a custom hosts file to block ads that way.
yes/no?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw

I use the stock browser for most use...with Dolphin HD coming in handy for being able to change the browser agent string easily. (yes i know..about:config...but that never sticks)
The first time I tried Opera Mobile on my Droid 1, it kept closing when i'd switch away from it...Now they've added tab resume and lowered the memory footprint which pretty much eliminates the that annoyance by keeping it running in the background longer and/or remembering where it left off if the phone does close it.
However, they haven't fixed the fact that you can't specify it to open pages in desktop versions so you're pretty much up a creek otherwise. So yeah...until they add that..i'll rarely use it.
Firefox..Tried when it was fennec.....bad. Haven't tried any other versions since alll I read is that its still slower than the stock browser. I'm used to the speedy stock browser/Dolphin HD (with Opera Mobile a close second) so anything slower than that would be not ok. The fact that it's such a memory hog means it requires 512mb of RAM to run...so my phone's 256mb of RAM means its unsupported on Droid 1.
Shame...but it doesn't make sense for me to use it now, esp since I moved away from Firefox on the PC for much of the same reasons (bloat, crashing) -
Is it possible for the i9000 to transmit FM radio?
My car CD player skips and i wanna use my phone instead. -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Not with internal HW. It's only an FM receiver AFAIK... that's all the libs and kernel extensions provide anyway.
You could try one of those FM transmitters that plug into the headphone jack... or A2DP with Bluetooth. Bluetooth is what I use almost daily. -
Awesome
Where do i get a hosts file that blocks ads?
Thats what im about to do
Im looking at this one, seems good and cheap, if your interested
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Unive...=sr_1_18?s=mp3&ie=UTF8&qid=1300849541&sr=1-18
If your car has an AUX port, you could use that too
Or if your car has a tape deck, you can get one of the tape to Headphone jack things, theyre cheap and more reliable.
-
An aux-in would be the best solution if your stereo supports it.
As for the cassette adaptors, in the past everything I read said they were a better solution than an FM transmitter but having tried a few and one FM transmitter, I would never get another cassette adaptor.
The one I use is basically the same as the one Alan has linked-to ( same brand certainly) and it works a treat. -
-
Turns out the standard Honda deck has an aux-in 6pin harness at the back for external CD stackers.
I hacked up a network cable and DIY'd it to 3.5mm jack input. -
Is it Gingerbread only? No 2.2.1 Love? I moved away from the gingerbread leak because it is just way too buggy. Screen flickers when ever you play Flash video (or loads a flash obj) and mkv/avi playback doesn't even work.
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
How MacGyver of you! Nice!
AFAIK yes. JVE is a horrible ROM anyway... try CM7. Netflix cut streaming access off shortly after I posted that, but the queuing options and everything still work.
-
Is CM7 more stable? I need mkv support and I don't think they have that fixed yet. As stated in their changelog "Certain video formats may not be supported and can be choppy during playback".
I don't know if this will work. But when Netflix was leaked (from iPad) for the iPod Touch, we can still used the disabled NetFlix app but we just need to launch the stream from the iPad's Netflix site. Perhaps, Android can do the same but with the regular netflix site? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Ah, no. CM7 doesn't have MKV support.
Tried that. The android browser doesn't know how to handle the hook... "nflx://" -
This is disheartening...though not surprising since Thunderbolt was the same way: HTC Incredible S has signed bootloader and recovery image | Android Central
-
ahh, noooooo to both. Oh well, I will have 2.2.1 to hold me off while 2.3 gets finished. Thanks Hal.
-
I cant seem to get my Vibrant into recovery mode? Ive tried using the rom manager and pressing the volume buttons while powering on. Im running Nero v3 rom.
-
amazon app store has the paid shazam for free today!!!
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Usually you have to push and hold the volume buttons till you get a recovery screen. But then again, are you sure you have 3-button recovery? Some handsets shipped without it.
Or are you talking download mode? -
Hmm should i flash a new ROM for pretty much no reason?
Also, can anyone tell me where framework-res.apk is located on the phone? -
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Yes. Just because.
And sure... /system/framework/framework-res.apk & twframework-res.apk. -
Haha i did
and thanks!
and also, do you know how i can edit my hosts file to block ads like i mentioned before?
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Right-click and save this file... Hosts
Drop that in /system/etc
Done deal.
That's the most up-to-date IP list I know of.
-
Sweet, thanks
EDIT: Didnt work, Samsung must have bugged my phone so it displays ads no matter what
-
H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Sometimes you have to clear the cache and dalvik cache for modifications to stick.
Also, try dropping that into a ROM before flashing... that is the best way.
-
Ah ok, ill try that
thanks!
-
I need restore mode so I can flash a new rom. I flashed Axura and one other rom and it was fine. Now when I hold both sound buttons, it goes to a very basic restore mode, with no option to find the rom.
-
You mean Samsungs default recovery and not CWM?
-
Yes, I just found out it wasnt CWM. But I keep trying to use ROM Manager to install CWM and it wont do it. It reboots and says its installing, but the CWM recovery menu wont come up.
-
Sounds like my previous problem
On the Samsung recovery, on the top, does it say 3e or 2e? -
Im running 2.2 and its says 3e.
-
Yep, same problem i had.
To install CWM (and a custom ROM), follow the "Boot Cycle" instructions in this guide...
** [GUIDE] FIX AND RESCUE YOUR VIBRICK + ODIN SUPPORT! N00b Friendly ** - xda-developers
It will put you on 2e, and then you can install CWM through ROM Manager. Boot into recovery, you should go into Samsungs recovery the first time, select Reinstall packages. And you will be brought to CWM, and then you can install a Custom ROM
Its not as horrible and long as it sounds, its worth it
(Note: i had to do the ODIN twice for it to work, So if it doesnt boot the first time dont panic
)
Credit to HAL for the Guide link

Worked, Thanks! +REP
-
Awesome
Thanks!
What ROM did you install? -
Axura, so far its my favorite. I'm just wondering which ROM is best for battery life? Axura is better than stock.
